Jokes and Humor / The Substitute Organist
May 17, 2011, 08:54:20 AM
The minister was preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to ask the congregation to come up with more money than they were expecting for repairs to the church  building. Therefore, he was annoyed to find that  the regular organist was sick and substitute had  been brought in at the last minute. The substitute  wanted to know what to play. "Here's a copy of  the service," he said impatiently. "But, you'll  have to think of something to play after I make  the announcement about the finances."

During  the service, the minister paused and said, "Brothers and Sisters, we are in great difficulty; the roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected and  we need $4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand up."

At that moment, the substitute organist played "The Star Spangled Banner."

And that is how the substitute became the regular organist  ;D

As one of the Pillars of Hercules in Greek mythology, the Rock of Gibraltar has been instantly recognizable for thousands of years. But for those not geographically oriented, this is the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. In other words you are looking at the Rock of Gibraltar in Spain

Driving west in Andalusia along Spain's new coastal expressway, the A7, not a single road sign mentions the British territory of Gibraltar. You just have to figure out when to exit the highway (at La Línea de la Concepción, the Spanish city at the foot of the rock). By the time you see a sign for Gibraltar, you'll be within walking distance.

Aside from the runway-road crossing with stop light controls, I can’t recall ever having seen a picture of Gibraltar from this perspective! Did you know Gibraltar's Airport runway and vehicular traffic crossings are at the same level? I guess no TB member knows:

LOL!!!

ajaw i-expose ahong tekret oyyy.

;)

Reminded me of a Nun Joke:

Diha daw usa ka piniriso nga lake (jailbreak a.k.a. Bay Hubs) nga nakapuga sa prisohan. After so many hours and miles of running away wala nay kadaganan ang maong prisoner so he decided to enter a NUN-nery kay safe daw didto (last resort). When he was inside the convent (monastery) he had to use their bathroom kay di na jud mada. Super-kais-on na. And so he did... but... he forgot to put the toilet seat down after use. The next day somebody reported to the Mother Superior about the toilet seat incident. So the Mother Sperior made the announcement, "It has been called to my attention that a male person has infiltrated our monastery... kamo tanan madre I want you to go down the 1F aisle and line up there. Huboa inyo mga panty but wear your habits, kay duna tay himoong inspection"

One by one the sisters lined up didto sa 1F aisle wearing only their habit but without any underwear. Everyone has to inspected by the Mother Superior herself. According to Mother Superior dapat ila daw iwalis ang "habit" and say her respective name. And so the nuns obliged.

Nun 1: (Nagwalis sa iyang habito) I'm Sor Theresa!

Nun 2: (Nagwalis pod sa iyaha) I'm Sor Bernadette!

Nun 3: (Nagwalis pod sa iyang habito) I'm Sor Bambi!

Nun 4: (Nauwaw pero walis pod siya) I'm Sor Kerstin!

Nun 5: (Naglagot pero nagwalis lang gehapon) I'm Sor Isle!

Nun 6: (Kawalison-di apan sugo man si Mother S) I'm Sor Raquel!

And so on... kutob Nun # 15

Sa hapit na moabot sa katapusan nakulbaan na si Bay Hubs nga puga kay basin mabuking siya...

Sa duol na si Mother Superior mi walis siya sa iyang habito and shout...

Preso: Sor Prise!!!  ;D :P :P ;D

yes, the temptation to believe the critics is always there, if we care to admit it.  in our lucid moments, when pride goes out the window and there's no one looking, we take out our reserves of humility and say, "could i have gone wrong in this?"

Sakto sad ka Ms Isle pero kinahanglan duna pay mohimo sa saying para atong kuninitan deri bwahahaha  :D

Quote from: islander on May 16, 2011, 10:41:03 PM

does it mean then that it also takes real courage to go on with what you may have admitted is already wrong and your critics were right after all?

WISDOM IN DISAGREEMENT

http://tausogdownunder.blogspot.com/2011/04/when-it-was-said-there-is-wisdom-in.html

when it was said there is wisdom in disagreement, it was among the learned, not among the fools nor among the learned with personal angsts to grind.

on disagreement, paul graham came up with a hierarchy to define our quality of disagreement. the bottom "name calling" is the lowest, vicious, most subjective and common type. refuting the central point requires patience or strong will to keep the disagreement objective, logical, at a more civil and professional level.

the irony is, if you look at my first statement, there is hints (fools, personal angst, elitist) of how low my argument has stoop. perhaps i should re-word it this way: when it was said there is wisdom in disagreement, it was among learned, well-informed and considerate of other views; not among those whose appreciation of the issue is too personal, limited and tend to exclude other people's views.

“Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
