Los Angeles: The vehicle used for the alleged pilfering of water from a Californian water district's fire hydrant was a white water-tender truck - not a red Ferrari driven by a moustachioed man wearing a Detroit Tigers baseball cap and a Hawaiian shirt.

But in a complaint, the Calleguas Municipal Water District points the finger at former Magnum P.I. star Tom Selleck. And they say they hired a real P.I. to prove it.

Selleck had huge amounts of water from a public hydrant delivered to his sprawling Hidden Valley ranch, according to court documents filed against the veteran actor.

The Calleguas Municipal Water District said in its complaint that on more than a dozen occasions since 2013, a white truck filled up at a hydrant in the drought-stricken state and hauled the water to Selleck's 24-hectare ranch in Westlake Village.

To document the alleged theft, the water district spent nearly $US22,000 ($29,000) to hire a private investigator, according to the complaint.

LUCENA CITY, Philippines â€" A lover’s quarrel caused by intense jealousy snuffed the life of a bride-to-be in Tiaong, Quezon on Wednesday.

Superintendent Laudemer Llaneta, Tiaong police chief, said Marion Aguilar Vito Cruz, 39, accidentally shot dead his fiancée Janneth Lacdao San Antonio, 36, as they grappled for a gun that the girl was brandishing in a fit of jealous rage.

Llaneta said the couple went to Lusacan flea market aboard a car driven by Vito Cruz to buy some goods on Wednesday afternoon.

Upon reaching the market, Vito Cruz stepped out of the vehicle. While San Antonio was waiting, she opened the mobile phone of her boyfriend that was left in the car and discovered a series of text messages sent by another woman, Llaneta’s report said.

Furious of her discovery, San Antonio confronted Vito Cruz upon his return and a heated argument ensued between the two.

At the height of the woman’s rage as they were travelling home, San Antonio pulled out her boyfriend’s licensed cal .380 pistol placed between the front seats.

Vito Cruz immediately made a grab for the gun but the woman resisted, the police report said.

During their struggle, the firearm went off hitting San Antonio at the left side portion of her neck that exited through the other side.

Vito Cruz immediately rushed the victim at the Liwag Medical Clinic also in Tiaong but she was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The incident was reported to the police at around 4 p.m.

“They were about to be married this month,” Llaneta told the Inquirer in a phone interview.

North Korea's ruler Kim Jong Un has executed about 70 officials "in a reign of terror" since taking power in late 2011, South Korean officials said Thursday, according to the Associated Press.

Speaking at a forum in Seoul, Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se said Kim's late father Kim Jong Il had executed about 10 people in his first years in power â€" far fewer than his son.

The AP reported an official from South Korea's National Intelligence Service, who refused to be named citing office rules, said the agency believes Kim, who is thought to be around 32 years old, has executed about 70 officials. Information related to the highly secretive North Korea is extremely difficult to independently confirm.

In May, a report emerged that Hyon Yong-chol, North Korea's defense minister, had apparently been executed, possibly with an anti-aircraft gun, in front of hundreds of people at a military school in Pyongyang, the North Korean capital.

His offense was disloyalty to Kim, Yonhap news agency reported, citing the NIS. Yonhap added Hyon, 66, was seen dozing off during a military event presided over by Kim and challenged his authority on several occasions. He may have been attempting to start a rebellion against the young leader, the NIS said.

In December 2013, Kim's uncle Jang Song Thaek â€" once considered North Korea's second most powerful man â€" was executed for alleged treason. Reports followed the next month that all direct relatives of Jang, who was married to Kim Jong Il's sister, had also been put to death.

South Korea's government has previously said that dozens of North Korean officials have been executed, many by machine gun.

General Topic / Zakat
July 10, 2015, 03:28:57 PM
Zakāt, "that which purifies", is a form of obligatory alms-giving and religious tax in Islam. It is based on income and the value of all of one's possessions. It is customarily 2.5% of a Muslim's total income, savings and wealth above a minimum amount known as nisab, but Islamic scholars differ on how much nisab is and other aspects of zakat. The collected amount is paid first to zakat collectors, and then to poor Muslims, to new converts to Islam, to Islamic clergy, to those fighting for Islamic causes, and any other charitable cause. For example, a Muslim can still give zakat to non-Islamic charities, and it will still be considered as zakat.

Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, mandatory for all Muslims. Zakat is a charitable contribution, and is considered as a tax. The payment and disputes on zakat have played a major role in the history of Islam, such as the Ridda wars that fueled the conflict between the Sunni and Shia sects of Islam. --Wiki

Milton is one of seven children born to Iyanna Moss, 37, who spent time in jail for felony assault when the boy was a toddler.

Milton’s father, Javaris Milton, 37, is locked up in a Minnesota prison, where he is serving a life sentence for a January 2010 murder.

After robbing a Minneapolis drug dealer of his marijuana stash, Milton--who brandished two handguns--shot the man multiple times. Cops found the victim, Dontae Johnson, lying face down in the snow outside his van. Milton, seen below, was also convicted of firing shots at an associate of Johnson's who ran from the van.

During a police search of Milton’s Minneapolis home, cops found “notebooks of handwritten rap lyrics that described murdering people with two guns,” according to court records.

Federal Agents Arrest Baby-Faced Boy, 12, For His Role In Nebraska Murder

Federal agents last night arrested a baby-faced Nebraska boy, 12, for his role in the murder of a man during an armed robbery.

Jarrell Milton was collared at 11:30 PM by U.S. Marshals Service agents in Minneapolis, nearly 400 miles from the boy’s Omaha residence, police reported.

Investigators allege that Milton and two other boys--Shuntayvious Primes-Willis, 15, and Jamar Milton, 17--last month lured two men to an Omaha park with the ruse of conducting a marijuana sale. Jarrell (seen in the adjacent mug shot) and Jamar are brothers.

Instead, cops say, the trio first flashed guns during the meeting and then opened fire on the two victims, one of whom was shot to death, while the other man was wounded. According to prosecutors, the three alleged assailants all have gang affiliations.

Primes-Willis and the elder Milton have been charged as adults with first-degree murder. Police have recovered two guns used during the crime and are searching for a third weapon.

Jarrell Milton will be returned to Omaha, though it is unclear what charges will be filed against him. Investigators did not disclose how the boy got to Minnesota or who might have helped him flee Nebraska.

For example: Hopefully the train is not late. I hope the train is not late. However, ‘I hope’ has a slight meaning of a more definite desire by the speaker or writer, rather than a general idea of things being left to fate or circumstance.

Hopefully, this distinction is clear to Aylandil. 8)
#7235
‘Hope’ is a verb that expresses a feeling. It means to want something to happen or to be true or to think that it could happen or be true. ‘Hope’ as a verb shows the action of feeling a desire or expectation. For example: I hope for a raise this year. The pronoun ‘I’ is used to show that the person speaking or writing feels this way in the present time. For example: I hope it does not rain.  It can also have the meaning of having confidence or trusting something will happen. For example: I hope in the fact that I know he will be here.  ‘I hope’ when used as an expression like this and attached to a statement one wants to believe is going to happen or is true can be used synonymously with ‘hopefully’. For example: Hopefully the train is not late. I hope the train is not late. However, ‘I hope’ has a slight meaning of a more definite desire by the speaker or writer, rather than a general idea of things being left to fate or circumstance.

‘I hope so’ is a common informal expression that is related to ‘I hope’. It implies that the person has a positive expectation of something. It is usually given as an answer to a question about whether or not something will happen. For example: Do you think she will win the race? I hope so. It can also be used to mean that someone has a strong desire that something happens. For example: Do you think he will show up? I hope so! Some speakers will substitute ‘hopefully’ for this expression as an answer in informal conversational English. In this case, the meaning is the same as ‘I hope so.’ -- http://www.differencebetween.net/
#7236
What is the difference between ‘hopefully’ and ‘I hope’? Both of these expressions contain the word ‘hope’. This is a word that English speakers often add to statements showing they want or believe something particular will happen or be true. However, there is a difference between ‘hopefully’ and ‘I hope’, and it is one that still is being debated among those that dictate proper English usage.

‘Hopefully’ is an adverb, so it modifies a verb. It means in a hopeful manner. To be hopeful means to be full of hope, or showing and feeling a sense of hope. For example: The dog stared out of the window hopefully all day long. In another sense, ‘hopefully’ can mean that something is hoped for in a general way. For example: Hopefully, we will get there soon.

This usage of ‘hopefully’ has recently become more popular in the 20th century in modern English. Used in this way, it is a type of adverb called a disjunct. A disjunct adverb is separate, yet related, to the thought being expressed and allows the speaker or writer to comment on what they are saying or writing.  Other examples include the following adverbs: interestingly, frankly, clearly and fortunately.  It is in this unique usage that ‘hopefully’ means a feeling similar to ‘I hope’. Some language experts have criticized this usage, but according to authorities on the English language, such as Merriam Webster, it is a correct and standard usage of ‘hopefully’. However, it is good to keep in mind that some grammarians still find this usage uncomfortable, especially in formal or written English.

Raif Badawi, born 13 January 1984, name also transcribed as Raef Badawi is a Saudi Arabian writer and activist and the creator of the website Free Saudi Liberals.

He was arrested in 2012 on a charge of insulting Islam through electronic channels and brought to court on several charges including apostasy. He was convicted of several charges and sentenced to seven years in prison and 600 lashes in 2013, then resentenced to 1,000 lashes and ten years in prison plus a fine in 2014. The lashes were to be carried out over 20 weeks. The first 50 were administered on January 9, 2015. The second set has been postponed more than twelve times. The reason for the most recent postponement is unknown, but in previous weeks the lashes have been delayed due to Badawi's poor health. Badawi is known to have hypertension and his health has worsened since the flogging began. His wife, Ensaf Haidar, has asserted that Raif will not be able to survive it.

In June 2015, Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court upheld the sentence of 1,000 lashes and ten years in prison. --Wiki

She took all this with equanimity. According to the Japanese principle of promotion by seniority, she rose effortlessly to super-stationmaster and honorary division chief. She was made an operating officer of the WER in recognition of her contribution to profits, the first female to be so honoured, and then became company vice-president. Each step was accompanied by gatherings of her devotees, presentations of certificates and extra stripes on her cap. Coolly tolerant, she allowed herself to be dressed in a velvet cloak with lace and white plumes, and to be hoisted in the air by jubilant WER executives.

At her funeral, attended by thousands at the station, the president of the railway company announced that she would be honoured as a goddess and buried in a Shinto shrine. Honour where honour was due. Meanwhile, her deputy Nitama (“Tama the Second”) assumed her duties at the station; and the Tama-densha ambled on down the line, joined now by the Toy Train and the Strawberry Train, as her worshippers in suits continued to follow the moneymaking path pointed out by the beckoning cat of Kishi, Tama the Divine.

A train with whiskers

She kept strict hours: 9am to 5pm on weekdays, with only Sundays off. In exchange she was given a stationmaster’s cap in her own size, always worn at a jaunty starlet angle; a stationmaster’s badge; as much tinned tuna as she could nibble at; and eventually her own office, with basket and litter-tray, in an old ticket booth. The work was not demanding; if it had been, she would have disdained to take the job. But by snoozing most of the day on the ticket barrier, or rubbing against the legs of passengers as they arrived, she increased traffic on the branch line by 10% in her first year. People would travel just to be greeted by her smooth and lucky purr.

As the years passed more and more people came to the station, and rode on the train, because of her. Tourists flocked from all over Japan. The president of the WER thought she had probably injected more than a billion yen into the local economy. In 2009 a special bewhiskered cat-train, the Tama-densha, began to run on the line, covered with cartoons of her and with her image all over the seats. The next year the station was rebuilt in the shape of her head, with dormer windows for her eyes, and a café opened up with her portrait iced on cupcakes. A shop offered Tama bags, notebooks, key-fobs and figurines.

In 21st-century Japan the mystic power of her breed was still invoked everywhere. Children wore tortoiseshell charms as amulets to keep them well. Nervous students cramming for exams put pictures of cats much like her on their bedroom walls. Most ubiquitous of all, the Maneki-neko, or beckoning cat (almost always a tortoiseshell), waved outside shops, restaurants and gambling parlours to draw customers in. These plastic cats stared rudely at one and all, where she appraised people with a green-eyed and sleepy gaze; their paws sawed up and down, where she made a virtue of curled immobility. In betting places they held up big gold coins to show they could bring good fortune. With a combination of punctuality, divinity and good manners, she achieved the same.

She was trained young by her mother, Miiko, outside the grocer’s shop by Kishi station. They would laze there in the sun to bewitch passers-by into suddenly needing a bag of rice or a bottle of mirin, and in exchange the grocer, Toshiko Koyama, gave them food. The bargain seemed a good one; the grocer prospered. Tama, too, grew sleeker as she improved her powers.

From there, it was only natural that she should save Kishi station. The little halt sat on a line, nine miles long and with 12 somnolent stops, between Wakayama City and Kishigawa. By 2006 it was losing 500m yen ($4m) a year. It should have been closed, but the customers said no; so it was sold to the Wakayama Electric Railway, which laid off the last man at Kishi to try to save some money. Mr Koyama became informal station-keeper, and the next year Tama was appointed stationmaster.

AS SOON as she was born, Tama-chan (“Little Treasure”) knew she was divine. Most cats presume it; she was sure of it. Her immediate situationâ€"whelped by a stray in the workers’ waiting room at Kishi station, on a rural railway line in western Japanâ€"did not augur brightly. But as soon as her eyes opened, she saw what she was. Rolling languorously on her back, she admired her white underside; delicately twisting her neck to wash, she noted the black and brown bars on her back. She was a tortoiseshell, or a calico cat to Americans. They had been four in the litter; only she carried the propitious marks.

Tortoiseshells had long been prized in Japan. In another age she would probably have been a temple cat, leading a contemplative life among maple and ginkgo trees, killing mice and, in exchange, earning the regard of monks and pilgrims. Tales were legion of poor priests or shopkeepers who had shared their few scraps with the likes of her and had, in return, found riches. Or she might have been a ship’s cat, since tortoiseshells had the power to keep away the ghosts of the drowned, whose invisible bodies filled the sea and whose flailing, imploring hands were the white crests of the waves. But Tama, being modern, preferred trains.

The case of Rosebush is not an isolated one. As of last June, 24 cases of human trafficking were recorded in Northern Mindanao, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the region (DSWD).

Eleven cases were recorded in Misamis Oriental, eight cases in Bukidnon, three from Misamis Occidental, and another three in Iligan City.

Two of the cases involved sex exploitation, 13 were for illegal recruitment, seven cases for child trafficking, and one case each for prostitution and forced labor.

One 16-year-old said Rosebush’s assistant and girl friend introduced her to the American.

After one month working as a Rosebush’s helper, the 16-year-old also became Rosebush's girlfriend after the American broke up with his assistant.

The 16-year-old told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro Rosebush promised her a good life and gave her a cellphone and a tablet.

The girl’s mother said she did not know her daughter was having a relationship with Rosebush.

After a weeks, Rosebush ditched the 16-year-old and reunited with his assistant.

It was then that that girl’s mother went to the NBI to file a complaint against Rosebush.

"Iyang giguba ang kaugmaon sa akong anak, human niya pahimuslan iya ra dayon gilabay murag dulaan," the mother said.

Magno said Rosebush will be charged with trafficking in persons.

Video shows punch that led to QB De'Andre Johnson's arrest/size]
http://www.tallahassee.com/
Democrat staff report 6:05 p.m. EDT July 6, 2015

The State Attorney's Office released surveillance video today of Florida State University quarterback De'Andre Johnson punching a woman at a bar last month.

State Attorney Willie Meggs said he decided to charge Johnson, 19, with misdemeanor battery after viewing the footage from the West Tennessee Street bar Yiannis on June 24.

Original story:

Florida State University freshman quarterback De'Andre Johnson turned himself in at the Leon County Jail on June 30 after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Johnson, 19, is being charged with misdemeanor battery. He was released from the Leon County Jail on $500 bond Thursday.

The State Attorney's Office in Tallahassee issued an arrest warrant for Johnson Tuesday. Johnson, 19, is accused of punching a woman in the face at a West Tennessee bar during an argument on the night of June 24, according to court documents.

The incident occurred while the woman was waiting in line for a drink at Yianni's nightclub and felt Johnson push past her aggressively, court records say.

When she addressed him at the bar, she raised her arm to defend herself, and he grabbed her arm and began pushing her. She raised her knee into his midsection to push him away and attempted to punch him, court records say, before Johnson punched her on the left side of her face.

The woman suffered bruising near her left eye, swelling of the left cheek and upper lip, and a small cut near the bridge of her nose, according to court records.

Johnson left the bar after the incident and the woman remained.

Finally, civil works on the New Bohol Airport in Panglao can start this month after the contractor complies the requirements on the site preparation.

As of the latest update, the contractor undertakes clearing, grubbing and fencing at the site to be able to proceed with the actual civil works.

The prime contractor, Chiyoda-Mitsubishi Joint Venture, will construct a 2000-meter runway, passenger terminal building and an airport special equipment.

New Bohol Airport is expected to accommodate 1 million passengers annually.

Chiyoda-Mitsubishi Joint Venture also assured that a photovoltaic power generation system and a filtering system will be provided for the New Bohol Airport to qualify as an “Eco Airport”.

This is to “avoid polluting the surrounding environment by drainage during construction”, according to the Chiyoda statement.

Provincial Administrator Alfonso Damalerio II confirmed that there had been good feedback about the progress of the project, contrary to the past years when it had been perceived as almost impossible.

The Local Project Management Team (LPMT) made sure that the requisites are in place first to avoid hitches in the middle of implementation of the project.

One of them is the resettlement area for the families that had been displaced to give way for the project.

Special cement will also stabilize the bedrock as a remedy to the sinkholes spotted in the project site earlier.

Water companies are also coming in to provide the water supply requirement for the construction of the airport in Panglao.

The modern airport in Panglao will cater to the increasing volume of domestic and international plane passengers in the country.

It will also replace the existing Tagbilaran City Airport which has no room for expansion.

The funding will be provided through a loan with the Japanese ODA (Official Development Assistance) and is designed to fully comply with international safety standards.

On the other hand, Korean actress Jun Ji-hyun did a pretty good job of playing a Japanese character in Blood: The Last Vampire. Although she doesn't look like the typical Japanese girl, I think she looks passably Japanese, perhaps from somewhere in the north. Ignore the blue eyes. Those are a vampire thing. -- http://www.quora.com/

The movie caused a big stir in Japan and China because, to a movie going audience accustomed by long exposure to telling the different between Japanese and Chinese actors, Zhang Ziyi, so obviously and conspicuously Chinese, was miscast. -- http://www.quora.com/

He wonders how long they will survive the wind-driven waves, some as high as 30 feet, that develop far out at sea and then roll in with no landmass to stop them. Such rocky islands as Hawaii, Guam and the Philippines are surrounded by coral reefs that help break up the force of waves traveling across the ocean. But the new bases in the Spratlys don’t have that protection.

“They are in the middle of the ocean, 1,000 miles from north to the south,” Elgar said. “With these huge fetches [distances that wind blows unobstructed over water], they have got to get big waves just from the wind blowing. They are exposed out in the middle of nowhere.”

Other ocean scientists worry about the effect of dredging and island creation on surrounding marine life. The Spratlys contain major fishing grounds for several Asian nations, and the local marine biodiversity has been on the decline for the past two decades, according to a 2013 study by Australian and Chinese scientists.

The report, which appeared in the journal Conservation Biology, found that coral cover had declined to about 20 percent (from about 60 percent) within the Spratly archipelago over the preceding 10 to 15 years. “Climate change has affected these reefs far less than coastal development, pollution, overfishing, and destructive fishing practices,” according to the report, which warned that the declines in the reefs were “unfolding as China’s research and reef-management capacity are rapidly expanding.”

Greg Mitchell, a professor of marine ecology at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, Calif., researches Pacific reef ecosystems. He says the new Chinese dredging and installation of concrete piers are probably destroying what’s left of the local ecology.

“If the islands had been left alone, they would probably be very diverse,” Mitchell said. “But all of the fishing fleets from Asia have been there hunting everything from sea cucumbers and giant clams and sharks for fins. My guess is the biodiversity has been altered already. But now, they are burying the ecosystem and destroying it.”

Among the projects described on the CSIS site are:

● An airstrip almost two miles long on Fiery Cross Reef.

● Radar facilities and a helipad on Cuarteron Reef.

● A new dock and gun emplacements on Gaven Reef.

● Expansion on Hughes Reef from an outpost on stilts measuring less than a tenth of an acre to a 380-acre multilevel facility and harbor for both civilian and military ships.

● Dredging at Mischief Reef, which lies within what the Philippines considers its economic zone with floating naval docking stations.

● New piers, access channel and possible landing strip at Subi Reef.

● Desalination pumps and a concrete plant on Johnson South Reef.

While the artificial islands seem solid in the satellite images, the Pacific Ocean isn’t always peaceful, says Steve Elgar, a senior scientist in ocean physics and engineering at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Woods Hole, Mass.

Chinese officials have said that “rigorous” testing is done before any construction to protect the reef environment and that beyond military uses the created islands will improve China’s capabilities for “search and rescue at sea, fishing security, disaster prevention and relief, and meteorological monitoring.”

While China’s construction has raised tensions in the region, it is also provoking questions about how long these bases will be able to withstand the severe storms that are frequent in that part of the Pacific Ocean.

“You can build an island if you do it right,” said Robert Dalrymple, a professor of civil engineering at Johns Hopkins University. “But it is not clear these islands will be permanent unless they can deal with erosion. They will wash away, just like putting sand on East Coast beaches.”

Artificial islands have been built for coastal resorts or airports in shallow waters off Florida, the Caribbean, the Arabian Sea and many other areas. The Philippines and Vietnam have erected outposts â€" many of them on wooden stilts â€" in the South China Sea in the past two decades in an effort to support territorial claims. But the Chinese efforts dwarf these projects. At some of the new islands, the Chinese are building concrete breakwaters hundreds of feet long to hold the sand in place.

Dalrymple has visited construction projects in China and says the country clearly has the engineering expertise to handle huge amounts of dredged material. Other experts say that the Chinese are working quickly, rather than carefully, to create the artificial islands.

“The engineering feats are incredible in terms of speed,” said Patrick Cronin, a senior analyst at the Center for a New American Security, a Washington think tank. Cronin has been briefed on the island-building by senior U.S. officials. “They have not only doubled the land mass . . . but [also] have created forward staging bases of both military and civilian use. Dredging machines didn’t just build islands, but also dug deeper shipping channels.”

The results can been seen in unclassified satellite images posted by the Asian Maritime Transparency Initiative at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, another think tank. Time-lapse images show coral rings in an azure sea being filled in by white sand dredged from the nearby seafloor, followed by the arrival of construction cranes, workers and then multistory buildings.

Marine biologist John McManus, who has been studying Pacific coral reefs for the past 30 years, remembers a two-day boat journey a few years ago to a remote part of the Spratly Islands, a chain of low-lying coral and rocky reefs in the South China Sea.

“You are traveling along in open ocean waters, then you come upon a place where the waves are breaking, then everything beyond the reef is flat, like a giant pool,” said McManus, who is director of the National Center for Coral Reef Research at the University of Miami.

Today, seven such coral reefs are being turned into islands, with harbors and landing strips, by the Chinese military. Not only is this work threatening China’s relations with the United States and several other Pacific nations, it is also destroying a rich ecological network, according to McManus.

“This is devastating,” he said. “It’s the worst thing that has happened to coral reefs in our lifetime.” U.S. officials estimate that the Chinese military has built up the shallow tropical seafloor with reclaimed sand, steel, wood and concrete barriers to create 2,000 acres of new territory.

Hutson's neighbor Dusty Albritton started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the cat’s medical expenses.

“I saw him with my own eyes. I know he was dead. He was cold and stiff,” Albritton told ABC News.

Albritton’s cat died the same day with similar injuries.

“We figured he was hit by the same car,” she said.

“Now my kids believe their cat will also rise from the dead," she said with a chuckle. "But I told them I don't think so."

When she discovered the resurrected Bart, she said he acted “like he’s in no pain whatsoever.”

“The only thing I can think of is that this is God’s miracle. And I thought, why five days later? If Bart was alive before, he would have come to our homes earlier. All I can think of is that God created animal life on the fifth day.“

Bart was a kitten from Hutson's girlfriend's cat. He said this has been an emotional ordeal for him and his girlfriend, but he hasn't tried explaining the situation to his two-year old daughter.

"As a two-year old, she doesn't understand any of this either," he said.

Hutson said he asked his friend to help bury the 23-month old cat, because the landscaper was so distraught after losing a companion he's had since he was a kitten.

"We were so close, I couldn’t stand to bury him," Hutson said. "I put him on the shoulder of the road and went and got David. He dug a hole and covered up the cat with dirt. I witnessed him bury the cat."

Five days later, the cat showed up in a neighbor's yard alive, but weak, dehydrated and in need of medical attention.

"I open the door and my neighbor's standing there with the cat in her hand," Hutson said. "She said, 'Bart is not dead.' I said, 'That’s impossible. We buried Bart.'"

Bart has been treated for a broken jaw, open facial wounds and a ruined eye. The Humane Society veterinarians expect him to recover and be able to return home after recovering a couple days.

"This is unbelievable. I don’t have any explanation for it," Hutson said.

Hutson said he will pay for the surgery costs for the cat. The total cost for the care of Bart, including today’s surgery and post-operative care, will be around $2,000, the Humane Society said.

Looks like he used up all his nine lives!

A cat in Florida that was hit by a car and then buried is apparently back from the dead.

"I was so shocked," owner Ellis Hutson told ABC News. "I didn’t know really what to do."

And today, Bart the cat is having surgery at the Humane Society to repair his jaw and remove his eye.

"We have seen many amazing cases at our full-service veterinary clinic, but this situation may take the cake," the Humane Society of Tampa said on its website.

The cat's owner, Hutson, 52, said he found Bart the cat two weeks ago in the middle of the road, lifeless in a puddle of blood.
