Eating rat is said to prevent baldness. The owners of a rat restaurant told Peter Hessler of the New Yorker, "If you have white hair and eat rat regularly, it will turn black. And if you're going bald and you eat it everyday your hair will stop falling out. A lot of the parents around here feed rat to a small child who doesn't have much hair, and the hair grows better."

Health and Food / Rats as Food in China
November 01, 2010, 02:51:37 PM
People in some parts of China are fond of eating rats. This custom has been around a long time. Chinese in the Zhou dynasty who ate rats, calling them "household deer." The rats that Chinese eat are not regarded as dirty animals. They don’t come from the cities but come from the countryside and are said to consume all natural foods such as fruit, grass and leaves.

Rat meat cost more than four times more than chicken or pork and twice that of beef.

Highest Ranking Wild Flavor Restaurant in Guangdong offers simmered mountain rat, mountain rat curry, spicy and salty mountain rat, simmered mountain rat with black beans, steamed mountain rat, rat soup. During an outing there Hessler was asked. "'Do you want a big rat or a small rat?” What's the difference? "The big rat eats grass stems, and the small one eat fruit.” Which tastes better? “'Both of them taste good." [Source: Peter Hessler, New Yorker, July 24, 2000]

Customers often examine the caged rats and pick the ones they want. Describing how they were killed Hessler wrote, "Suddenly, the worker flipped his wrist, swung the rat into the air by the tail, and let go. The rat made a neat arc. There was a soft thud when is head struck the cement floor. There wasn't much blood."

Hessler order a small mountain rat with black beans, which was served in a clay pot. "I ate the beans first," he wrote. "I poked at the meat. It was clearly well done, and it was attractively garnished with onions, leeks, and ginger. Nestled in a light sauce were skinny rat thighs, short strips of rat flank, and delicate toylike rat thighs. I put a chunk of it into my mouth, and reached for a glass of beer. The beer helped...It wasn't bad. The meat was lean and white, without a hint of gaminess. Gradually, my squeamishness faded, and I tried to decide what the flavor of rat remind me of. But nothing came to mind. It simply tasted like rat."

Sex After 40 A Rare Event For Single Women

The single women on Desperate Housewives don't seem to have much of a problem finding sexual partners, but real life single women over the age of 40 may not be having as much luck, say researchers from Vanderbilt University. Their new study, appearing in the Journal of Aging Studies finds that as women get older, they report having fewer sexual partners - often no sexual partners - as a result of cultural beliefs and the biological and social effects of aging. Somewhat predictably, more women than men report having no partners.

The study focused on those aged 40 to 59 who are single, divorced or widowed; a group, the researchers say, that is typically underrepresented in sexual studies. "We've all seen the seductive 40- or 50-something divorcee portrayed in the movies who attracts men like honey draws flies. Think of Susan Sarandon's character in the film Bull Durham. However, this appears to be the exception rather than the rule and maybe that is part of these characters' allure," said the leader of the study, Vanderbilt's Laura Carpenter.

The study found that a combination of factors contributed to this enforced celibacy, including:

Older women being viewed by both men - and the women themselves - as less attractive as they age
Conservative beliefs about premarital sex
The trend of older men/younger women pairings
Higher male mortality rates

Which the researchers say add up to women having fewer - or no - sexual partners; particularly after the age of 50.

The study also revealed that, paradoxically, having a college education seems to both increase women's chances of having no sexual partners and having multiple sexual partners. Carpenter attributed this contradictory finding to heterosexual men's preference of partners with similar or lower educational attainment, which would result in a smaller pool of partners for women with higher levels of education. However, better-educated women may also enjoy more opportunities to meet potential partners than less well-educated women.

We are sooo trapped with wrong sentiments and perspectives..is it because of the kind of music that we keep on listening or movies that we watched? The birth of tragedy out of the spirit of music... Compose as much haiku poetry as possible. Haiku was once a decent form of Japanese poetry that, thanks to pop culture, is the definition of bad poetry in its current form. All haikus are three lines long. In a Haiku, the first line has five syllables, the second has seven of them and then the last has five again. Those are the only rules for haiku poetry.

Bwahaha! Naay easily accessible examples ani, but here are some for starters...

Serial Killer Haiku
by Jack Lurhstaap

Gleaming white arches
Spin around the spinal cord
Horseshoe, played with bones.

----

Curving silver edge
Rise above the horizon
Full moon or knife blade?

----

Warming up the grill
Seeded buns, home-made chuck
Long pork for dinner!

----

Sleek steel crimson-graced
Opens a window into you
Pericardium!

How to Write Bad Poetry
By an eHow Contributor

Everyone knows a poem or part of a poem that moved them and some have spent agonizing hours, weeks or years trying to replicate the feeling with their own words. However, no one tries to write bad poetry. If you think about it, writing bad poetry takes a fraction of the time and anyone can do it. Therefore, people should endeavor to write bad poetry, not good.

Instructions

1
Write what you don't know. An old adage for good writers is "Write what you know." Therefore, to write bad poetry you should write about things you have no idea about.

2
Think as little as possible to write bad poetry. Do not agonize over the words; just let it all flow out of you and onto the page with no thought whatsoever.

3
Rhyme the words every chance you get to write bad poetry. Rhyming is not as difficult as you think, and it will make your poetry stink. See, there is an example for you.

4
Repeat the same rhyme throughout the poetry. Nothing says bad poetry like a repetitive rhyme that just keeps repeating throughout your poetry over and over and over.

5
Use words that have lots of letters but you have no idea what they mean. Look in a dictionary for particular long and complicated words and include them in your poetry. It also helps if they rhyme, but anything goes in bad poetry.

6
Compose as much haiku poetry as possible. Haiku was once a decent form of Japanese poetry that, thanks to pop culture, is the definition of bad poetry in its current form. All haikus are three lines long. In a Haiku, the first line has five syllables, the second has seven of them and then the last has five again. Those are the only rules for haiku poetry.
