Big day: But Dilraj told MailOnline he wanted even more there - adding: 'In our twins get-together, usually there will around 10 to 12 sets of twins, but I could arrange only seven twins for my wedding'

In total, seven sets of twins attended - including the brides and grooms.
It was, a disappointed Dilraj said, not enough.

'In our twins get-together, usually there will be around 10 to 12 sets of twins, but I could arrange only seven twins for my wedding,' he added.

The priests travelled 600km from Chennai to Thrissur for the ceremony on November 8.

The identical flower girls Ansa and Asna and page boys Henry and Hendri didn't need to travel quite so far, coming from their neighbourhood.

But they weren't the only twins at the ceremony, held at St. Xavier's Church, in the small town of Pullur.

Twin times: In total, there were seven sets of twins at the ceremony including priests, who travelled 600km from their homes to conduct the ceremony in Thrissur, Kerala State on the west coast
#7008

The couples set about hunting down twin priests to solemnise their marriage.
Luckily, the brothers had already met the perfect candidates through one of their get togethers.

The only problem was, the priests Rezi and Rozy Manaparambil had a full calendar.

'We had to wait for months for the priests to come solemnise our wedding,' Dilraj said.

'But it was worth it.'
#7009

Perfection: But after so many years, neither set of twins was likely to want a normal wedding - and they set out to make it the most twin-filled event that they possibly could

And they too knew they were destined to marry twin brothers.

Reena told MailOnline:  'We had to keep searching the suitable boys for three years in a row. When we saw Dilraj and Dinker we nodded yes to each other. It was a wonderful experience.'

Many proposals came following our ads in newspapers and matrimonial sites. But the twins were not identical enough. - Dinker

Organising the perfect twins' wedding is about more than just ensuring the brides and grooms are perfect mirror images, however.
#7010

Neighbours: These children were chosen to be part of the wedding because they lived nearby. In Kerala, where the couple live, there is a village with more than 200 sets of twins

Passionate: The men have even set up a Facebook group called the All Kerala Twins Group so that they could meet more twins, which now boasts more than 300 members
#7011

But then the brothers struck gold, meeting Reena and Reema through a 'matrimonial portal'.

Dilraj revealed: 'When we met Reena and Reema, we knew it was them we were looking for all this while. Fortunately, they also had the similar feeling after meeting us.'

Like the twin brothers, the girls also studied in the same school, went to the same college to train as nurses and also landed jobs at the same firm in Dubai.

Inseparable: Both sets of twins have been close ever since they were children, dressing similarly, attending the same schools, university and getting jobs at the same company after they graduated
#7012

Delight: Reena told MailOnline of the moment the sisters finally found their future husbands. 'When we saw Dilraj and Dinker we nodded yes to each other' she said

It was quite a task, especially considering there are on average just one set of twins for every 100 babies born in India.

The IT professionals even created a group on Facebook called the All Kerala Twins Group, which now boasts more than 300 members.

'Occasionally, we would also organise a get-together by pooling in money from the members,' said Dilraj.

'The aim was to get suitable twin brides for ourselves.'

Still, though, they could not find their perfect match.
#7013

Determination: Nurses Reena and Reema had spent three years searching for the perfect husbands for themselves

Joy: Then, through a marriage portal, they were introduced to Reema and Reena, twin sisters who had also decided that only a set of twin brothers would be good enough for them
#7014

But then the unthinkable happened.

'For the first time our life, we were separated after starting our professional career. I was posted in north India, while the company sent Dilraj to the extreme south,' said 32-year-old Dinker.

Five years ago, the pair decided it was time to settle down. Of course, it couldn't be just anyone, and they turned to the newspaper to aid their hunt for their wives.

'Many proposals came following our ads in newspapers and matrimonial sites,' Dinker said.

'But there was a problem: 'The twins were not identical enough. Also, we had to find twins who came from the similar family backgrounds.'

Future: Five years ago, the brothers decided it was time to settle down and find themselves wives - but realised only another set of twins, with a similar background to themselves, would do
#7015

Search: The brothers, who work in IT, decided when they were teenagers that they wanted to marry identical twin sisters and they spent five years finding their perfect wives

Mirror images: Their wedding was an all twin affair with not only the bride and groom, but flower girls Ansa, Asna and page boys Henry and Hendri specially chosen because they are twins too

Dinker and Dilraj first decided they would marry identical twin sisters when they were at high school.

From a young age, they were inseparable, spending every minute they could together, always wearing similar clothes - just in case people needed to be reminded they were twins.

'Even in matriculation exam, we scored similar marks,' Dinker revealed.
'After graduating from college, we even landed job in the same company (HCL).'

Double take! Two sets of identical twins marry.. each other, with identical twin pageboys, bridesmaids... and even priests

Dinker and Dilraj Varikkassery spent five years searching for perfect wives

Decided as teenagers they could only marry another set of identical twins

Found sisters Reena and Reema, nurses, also hunting for twin grooms

Waited to marry for twin priests to conduct ceremony in Kerala State, India

By SANJAY PANDEY IN KERALA, INDIA FOR MAILONLINE
12 November 2015

Those attending the weddings of Dinker and Dilraj Varikkassery would be forgiven for leaving with a serious sense of deja vu.

Because not only were the grooms identical, but so were the brides - and the page boys, flowers girls and even the priests.

The wedding, held in Thrissur, Kerala State on India's west coast, was everything the brothers had ever dreamed of, the result of a five year, painstaking search for the most identical sisters they could find.

Their only regret? That there weren't more twins at the ceremony.

Double take: Brothers Dinker and Dilraj Varikkassery married sisters Reena and Reema in a lavish ceremony overseen by twin priests, who travelled 600km to be at the wedding in Kerala

Within an hour, security forces had stormed the concert hall and all three attackers there were dead.

Islamic State released a statement on Saturday saying "eight brothers wearing explosive belts and carrying assault rifles" had carried out the attacks on "carefully chosen" targets, and were a response to France's involvement in the air strikes on IS militants in Syria and Iraq.

Shortly before, President Hollande said France had been "attacked in a cowardly shameful and violent way".

"So France will be merciless in its response to the Daesh [Islamic State] militants," he said, vowing to "use all means within the law.. on every battleground here and abroad together with our allies".

Many officials buildings as well as Disneyland Paris have been closed, sports events have been cancelled and large gatherings have been banned for the next five days.

The 1,500-seat Bataclan concert hall in the 11th arrondissement suffered the worst of Friday night's attacks. Gunmen opened fire on a sell-out gig by US rock group Eagles of Death Metal, killing 89 people.

"At first we thought it was part of the show but we quickly understood," Pierre Janaszak, a radio presenter, told AFP news agency.

"They didn't stop firing. There was blood everywhere, corpses everywhere. We heard screaming. Everyone was trying to flee."

He said the gunmen took 20 hostages, and he heard one of them tell their captives: "It's Hollande's fault, he should not have intervened in Syria."

#7023

At about the same time, on the northern outskirts of Paris, 80,000 people who had gathered to watch France play Germany at the Stade de France heard three explosions outside the stadium.

President Hollande was among the spectators and was whisked away after the first blast.

Investigators had found the bodies of three suicide bombers around the Stade de France, Mr Molins said. One other person died in the blasts.

#7024

"We heard the sound of guns, 30-second bursts. It was endless," resident Pierre Montfort said.

A few streets away, diners sitting on the terrace of La Casa Nostra pizzeria were also fired on, with the loss of five lives.

Mr Molins said 19 people had been killed at the Belle Equipe bar in the 11th arrondissement, while the toll from the attack on the Bataclan concert hall stood at 89.

#7025

How the attacks unfolded

French President Francois Hollande imposed a state of emergency after the worst peacetime attack in France since World War Two. It is also the deadliest in Europe since the 2004 Madrid bombings.

The violence began soon after 21:00 (20:00 GMT) as people were enjoying a Friday night out in the French capital.

Gunmen opened fire on Le Carillon bar and Le Petit Cambodge (Little Cambodia) restaurant, near the Place de la Republique in the 10th arrondissement (district), killing 15 people.

He was identified while driving another vehicle in a spot check by police on Saturday morning as he crossed into Belgium with two passengers.

The BBC's Hugh Schofield in Paris says investigators are working on the theory that these three may be another team of attackers who managed to flee the scene.

The Greek authorities say two people under investigation by the French police had registered in Greece as Syrian refugees. A Syrian passport was found near the body of one the attackers at the Stade de France.

An Egyptian passport has also been linked to the attacks.
#7027

The investigation

Mr Molins also gave details about the state of the investigation, which he said was at a very early stage.

He said police were focusing on two vehicles. One is a black Seat used by gunmen at two of the attacks, and still untraced.

The other is a black Volkswagen Polo with Belgian registration plates found at the concert venue that was targeted.

He said this had been rented by a Frenchman living in Belgium.
#7028

Speaking in Paris on Saturday evening, Mr Molins told reporters: "We can say at this stage of the investigation there were probably three co-ordinated teams of terrorists behind this barbaric act."

Mr Molins said all seven militants had used Kalashnikov assault rifles and the same type of explosive vests.
#7029

"It's crazy, insane. I was in Paris myself last night, I saw what a mess it was," he told AFP before being placed in custody.

He said he had not had contact with his younger brother for several years.

Mr Molins also said the arrests of three men in Belgium on Saturday were linked to the attacks.

Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel said investigators were trying to establish whether one of the suspects picked up near Brussels might have been in Paris on Friday evening.

Mostefai came from the town of Courcouronnes, 25km (15 miles) south of Paris. He had been identified by the security services as having been radicalised but had never been implicated in a counter-terrorism investigation.

Investigators are trying to find out whether he travelled to Syria in 2014, judicial sources told AFP.

French police have taken Mostefai's father and brother into custody and searched their homes.

Mostefai's older brother attended a police station voluntarily.
#7031

Prime Minister Manuel Valls has said France will continue with air strikes against IS in Syria and described the group as a very well-organised enemy.

Mr Molins confirmed that one of the dead attackers had been identified as a 29-year-old Frenchman who had a criminal record, but had never spent time in jail.

Omar Ismaïl Mostefai was identified after his finger was found at the Bataclan concert hall and matched fingerprints the police had on file, AFP reported.

Paris attacks: Prosecutor Molins says three teams involved

15 November 2015

Three teams carried out the attacks in the French capital which killed 129 people and left more than 350 wounded, the Paris chief prosecutor says.

"We have to find out where they came from... and how they were financed," Francois Molins told reporters.
He said seven attackers had been killed, and that all had been heavily armed and wearing explosive belts.

Friday's attacks, claimed by Islamic State militants, hit a concert hall, a major stadium, restaurants and bars.

If the cat is no chimera, what would explain her striking pattern? “Absolute luck,” Lyons told NatGeo. For example, the black coloration could have randomly activated in all of the cells on one side of her adorable kitty face, while cells coding for orange coloration kicked in on the other side. The two patches then met in the middle as she developed in the womb.

But it’s Venus’ single blue eye, Lyons points out, is the real mystery. Cats usually sport yellow or green eyes, while those with baby blues tend to have Siamese heritage and include predominantly white coats. Venus, however, only has a small white patch on her chest, not enough to explain the blue eye.

Genetically, Lyons admits, “She is a bit of a mystery.”

The Genetics Behind Venus, the Mysterious Two-Faced Cat

A cat named Venus is perhaps the most famous feline on the planet thanks to her unique markings

By Rachel Nuwer

A cat named Venus is one of the most famous felines on the planet. The three-year-old torty has her own Facebook page and has collected more than a million views on YouTube, in addition to making appearances on the Today Show and in other news venues. The reason behind Venus’ fame? Her striking two-face markings: half black-with-yellow eye, half orange-with-blue-eye.

National Geographic investigates the possible genetic anomalies that contribute to Venus’ unique look. Cat geneticist Leslie Lyons of the University of California, Davis, told NatGeo that she’s never seen a kitty quite like Venus. “She is extremely, extremely rare,” she said.

Venus is not necessarily a chimera, or an animal whose cells contain two sets of DNA caused when two embryos fuse together during development. But Lyons said to find out for sure whether or not Venus is a chimera, she’d need to perform genetic testing.

Pinoys warned vs spurious job offers from Portugal

By Pia Lee-Brago (The Philippine Star) | November 8, 2015

MANILA, Philippines â€" The Philippine embassy in Lisbon yesterday warned the public against making online transactions with spurious companies and individuals offering employment and issuances of entry or working visas for companies based in Portugal.

The embassy recently noted the continuing cases of Filipinos who have been victimized or have received e-mails from alleged companies or law firms, which offer jobs or promise to process permits for employment with Portuguese companies, in exchange for fees to be paid by money transfer.

In some cases, unscrupulous individuals have misrepresented a number of real and reputable companies in Portugal by using the information on their websites and replacing it with false contact information. Others have created fake company or law firm websites and offer to process employment documents.

Santos said he summoned the children and divided the food into four.

“I told them we will have equal share so everyone can eat,” he said.

A native of Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija, Santos grew up in a poor family.

He and two siblings survived on the pension of his father, a retired soldier. His mother was jobless.

“I know the feeling of being poor and hungry,” he said.

Santos said his parents had taught them to share whatever they have with others.

“Back at home, even if we have little food on the table, my parents divided it equally, we eat it together,” he said.

Reached by Inquirer, Santos said he was surprised at the attention he is receiving.

He said he had no inkling that what he did would spread in social media.

Santos recalled that the fast-food management handed him his meal on Nov. 3 and he took notice of the three children.

“When I opened the pack, the three children approached me. It’s so difficult for me to eat the meal while these children stared at me. They never begged or asked, they just stared at my food,” the soldier said.

“I just want to share something inspiring that day. I was touched by the soldier’s deed. We hardly see similar images these days,” Ignacio told Inquirer.

The soldier turned out to be 26-year-old Cpl. Ryan Santos of the 8th Field Artillery Battalion station in Barangay Busay in Isabela City.

It was Col. Rolando Bautista, commander of the Joint Task Group Basilan, who helped identify Santos through the photo that Ignacio shared.

“He was temporarily detailed at Jollibee that time for preemptive measure as the said food chain received threats,” Bautista said.

On October 27, the US Navy sent a destroyer on a sail-by near the site of one of the man-made islands to assert its right to free passage, drawing an angry response from China's foreign ministry.

"There has never been any problem with the freedom of navigation and overflight, nor will there ever be any in the future because China needs unimpeded commerce through these waters more than anyone else," Xi said.

He added that "non-Asian countries should understand and respect this and play a constructive role", an apparent reference to the United States.

Xi is in Singapore for a state visit that suddenly took on new significance when it was announced last week that he would meet Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou while in the city-state.

It will be the first meeting between leaders of the two sides since their bitter split in 1949 at the end of the Chinese civil war, which was won by Mao Zedong's Communists.

Xi said some "Chinese" islands are currently being "occupied" by other countries, but vowed that China's intentions were peaceful.

"What we in China believe... is that the strong and rich should not bully the weak and poor," he said.

He added that "China will continue to seek resolution of the disputes through negotiation and consultation".

The United States has warned that China's actions could threaten freedom of navigation in a body of water that is vital for world trade.

It is now using land reclamation to expand previously insignificant sea features into full-fledged islands and further underpin its claims.

China's neighbours have said the actions violate a regional code among the rival claimants against taking actions that upset the status quo.

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday repeated his country's uncompromising claims to the South China Sea but pledged that it would not "bully" its weaker neighbours.

The comments by Xi were in line with China's oft-stated position but come as Beijing's assertiveness in the strategic waterway has raised concerns of potential future conflict.

"Let me make this clear: The South China Sea islands have been China's territory since ancient times," Xi said in a speech during a visit to Singapore.

Johnson's husband jokingly referred to the work as "My Wife's Lovers." The name stuck.

The feline in the center of the painting is Sultan, a cat Johnson found so "irresistible" that she paid $3,000 for him during a trip to Paris, according to Sotheby's.

Johnson, "possibly America’s greatest cat enthusiast," according to Sotheby's, wrote in her will that $500,000 was to go to the "perpetual care and comfort" of her cats, Sotheby's said.

The painting was commissioned in 1891 by San Francisco millionaire Kate Birdsall Johnson, who owned 350 cats in her 3,000-acre summer residence, according to the Sotheby's catalog.

The 350 fancy Persians and Angoras were attended to by a "troop of servants," and "entertained by parrots and cockatoos," Sotheby's wrote. Each cat had a name and recognized that name when called, the auction house added.

Johnson asked artist Carl Kahler to paint her cats, 42 of whom made it in the final masterpiece that took Kahler over three years to complete, Sotheby's said.

The Incredible Story Behind 'World's Largest Cat Painting'

By AVIANNE TAN

Good Morning America

The Incredible Story Behind 'World's Largest Cat Painting' (ABC News)

A massive 227-pound painting, believed to be the "world's largest cat painting," was recently bought at a Sotheby's auction in New York for $826,000.

The piece featuring 42 cats on a 6-feet-by-8.5-feet canvas was "so large and so heavy" that carpenters had to make a special wall reinforced with plywood because when it was put up on a normal wall, "it pulled the nails right out," Polly Sartori, Sotheby's head of 19th-century European art, told ABC News today.

But even more incredible than the painting's size and premium price is the story behind it.

Jes described Ghost as his ”world”, adding: “It has never been harder to leave my apartment.

“In a really embarrassing and much-too-personal-for-reddit way he’s really helped with my depression and anxiety.

“He’s a great little cat.”

Ghost is officially now our number one cat - better even than Grumpy Cat. We would never leave him!

The door hold is futile, his owner is leaving. And we’re crying.
