Grazie,

I'll reveal to you the SECRET how (I think) Leo did it.

He's actually (right now) using two computers.... One is opened for the account of EL MUNDO and the other is opened for the account of GEC348.

With his trusty and reliable swivel chair, Leo slides from one computer to the other asking and answering questions and posts back and forth to give us all a wonderful enjoyable time ;D

Di ba, Leo? You naughty, naughty boy!  ;D

many are asking if you're handsome, aren't you? but  am sure we are! LOL!

paila na intawon... kay mabutangan ko og kinumo ani hehehehe

Who, Admins in TB exercise liberty to modify posts if deemed unfit.  I am not saying you deliberately said something offensive or unfit but we are not perfect.  It takes humility to allow people to correct us.  You can also correct Admins if you think we say something bad.  We are all caretakers of TB bya.  Anyway, I didn't see your original post so I can't explain but my understanding is that, Admin Mike didn't want you to put him in the same category as Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ being the only one worthy to be called Savior of the Earth or something to that effect.  So, ayaw na pag drama Who.  Ayaw dali ug surrender diha oi!

As to the topic, ti gali bisan pa upod lang sa bata ang sister, error-free ang mall owner kon dili palyado ang equipment which is the escalator.  Why man diay kon taga squatter ang bata?  Is the report suggesting na dili sala sa mall owner just because the kid lives in the squatter's area or gipanapian ang mall?  I think that's beside the point especially if ma proven na palyado ang escalator.

Thanks Graze for the recipe. Akong sulayan. Maayo ni kay seafood.

Classical Italian gyud kaayo ug porma, kanang daghan ug kamatis ug olive oil, nag pula.

I like her.  Gaka amaze ko sa miles per minute ijang ma yawyaw!   And besides, iyang cooking is simple kay di man jud na sya chef.

By the way, since daghan kaayo mi'g tomatoes, I use our own tomatoes from the garden.  I tell you, mas lami jud ang lasa.  Dali ra bya na buhaton noh kay di man na lisud nang mga rekados ana.  Labi na siguro naa ta sa ato kay fresh kaayo ang mga shell foods sa Manga.

Basta para lami, refrain from using water.  Use clam juice or red wine. I use the red wine from Trader Joe's.  Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon or Shiraz is perfect!  Ayaw na'ng cooking wine though naa bya pod ko.  Basta the rule of thumb in cooking using wine:  Thou shall not use wine you can not drink!

Health and Food / Cioppino Recipe
August 12, 2008, 04:42:55 AM
As requested by Hazel, here's the recipe for Cioppino.  You don't have to exactly follow.  Play with the recipe.  For example, I don't use crab legs but just crab meat - real ones.  When I make the tomato based sauce, I use sauteed fennel bulbs too.  That adds the sweetness.  There's a suggestion to serve with sourdough bread as what Italians do but I serve it with RICE!

The Cioppino I cooked one of the parties we had.

Ingredients:
4 large garlic cloves, minced
2 medium onions, finely chopped
1 Turkish bay leaf or 1/2 California bay leaf
1 teaspoon dried oregano, crumbled
1 teaspoon dried hot red pepper flakes
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup olive oil
1 green bell pepper, cut into 1/4-inch dice
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 1/2 cups dry red wine
1 (28- to 32-oz) can whole plum tomatoes, drained, reserving juice, and chopped
1 cup bottled clam juice
1 cup chicken broth
1 (1-lb) king crab leg, thawed if frozen
18 small (2-inch) hard-shelled clams (1 1/2 lb) such as littlenecks, scrubbed
1 lb skinless red snapper or halibut fillets, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
1 lb large shrimp (16 to 20), shelled (tails and bottom segment of shells left intact) and deveined
3/4 lb sea scallops, tough muscle removed from side of each if necessary
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh basil

Garnish: shredded fresh basil leaves and small whole leaves
Accompaniment: focaccia or sourdough bread
Preparation
Cook garlic, onions, bay leaf, oregano, and red pepper flakes with salt and pepper in oil in an 8-quart heavy pot over moderate heat, stirring, until onions are softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in bell pepper and tomato paste and cook, stirring, 1 minute. Add wine and boil until reduced by about half, 5 to 6 minutes. Add tomatoes with their juice, clam juice, and broth and simmer, covered, 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

While stew is simmering, hack crab leg through shell into 2- to 3-inch pieces with a large heavy knife. Add crab pieces and clams to stew and simmer, covered, until clams just open, 5 to 10 minutes, checking every minute after 5 minutes and transferring opened clams to a bowl with tongs or a slotted spoon. (Discard any unopened clams after 10 minutes.) Lightly season fish fillets, shrimp, and scallops with salt and add to stew, then simmer, covered, until just cooked through, about 5 minutes. Discard bay leaf, then return clams to pot and gently stir in parsley and basil.

Serve cioppino immediately in large soup bowls.

Cooks' note:
• The stew â€" without seafood â€" can be made 1 day ahead. Cool, uncovered, then chill, covered. Bring to a simmer before adding seafood.

I don't know if I really do not have green thumb but looking at our garden, tomatoes are the easiest to grow. But I need other vegetables like eggplant, squash, other green veges like chard and kale so I think it's hard for me to say what's my favorite plant - vege, trees or flowers to grow.  I love flowers to beautify our lil home and vegetables for our food and to share to family and friends.  However, I am so excited about our kamunggay plant kay I haven't seen a kamunggay plant here yet and I know I can make use of it when it's mature enough to harvest.

Ang Kamunggay sa among garden, bow!

Fighting began after the Supreme Court halted a historic deal to expand a Muslim autonomous zone in the region.

Renewed fighting between Muslim rebels and the Army in the southern Philippines has caused at least eight deaths and forced nearly 130,000 people to flee their homes. The clashes have been sparked by a controversial deal to expand a Muslim autonomous zone in the region, which was created in 1996 as part of a peace accord between the Filipino government and Muslim rebels. The fighting highlights the sectarian tensions that plague the country.

According to the BBC, troops began their attack on Sunday, after Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels failed to leave North Cotabato Province, which is not included in the five-province Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Troops began their attack on Sunday, after Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels in North Cotabato ignored a 24-hour deadline to leave the area.

Soldiers continued to bomb Muslim rebel positions for a second day on Monday.

They regained control of two villages, and are still aiming to regain 13 others, military vice chief of staff Lt Gen Cardozo Luna told the Associated Press.

At least one soldier and seven rebel fighters have been killed since the attack began.

The fighting has caused many families to be displaced, reports the Philippine Daily Inquirer, a leading Filipino newspaper.

Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno acknowledged the situation in North Cotabato has worsened as he lamented the government's failure so far to return thousands of families who have fled the fighting.... The fighting has displaced 18,633 families or 129,000 people in the affected areas, according to the Office of Civil Defense.

According to Asia News, trouble began last week when the Supreme Court issued an order to halt the signing of a deal between the government and MILF rebels following a wave of protests throughout the Philippines. Earlier this month, government and MILF negotiators were expected in Malaysia to sign an agreement laying down new borders for the ARMM. Acting on a petition filed by Christian politicians in North Cotabato who fear losing land and power to the Muslims, the Supreme Court stopped the deal, even though the government insisted it would end the 10-year-long conflict with the Muslim rebel group.

Last month, both sides agreed to expand an existing six-province Muslim autonomous region to include 712 villages, subject to the agreement of residents in a plebiscite within a year. Some local leaders complained however about the danger of electoral fraud.

Catholics expressed their concern that a deal between the MILF and the government would lead to renewed sectarian violence and vowed to obstruct the government's plan to conclude the peace accord.

The deal would have been a major step toward the peaceful resolution of a long-running Islamic insurgency, which has claimed some 100,000 lives, reported the BBC.

A larger autonomous region is something the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has sought for decades....

The MILF is the largest of several Muslim separatist groups battling the government in the predominantly Catholic country.

Formal talks between the government and the MILF began in 2003, after the rebel group, which is thought to have around 11,000 members, signed a fragile truce with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's government.

The government had given approximately 1,000 MILF insurgents until Friday morning to vacate 15 villages in five North Cotabato townships that the rebels have occupied for more than a month. Although the MILF initially agreed to the withdrawal, rebels stayed put, prompting the government to launch an assault, reports the Associated Press.

MILF rebels claim, however, that the current fighting began when the government violated a cease-fire agreement with the rebels and went against the decided upon pullout process in the North Cotabato region, reports The Daily Tribune, a Filipino newspaper.

A commander of the separatist group Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) accused the government of treachery on the agreed process for the pullout of MILF forces from occupied territories in North Cotabato and said yesterday rebel forces were staying put "no matter what."

While all the negotiations and repositioning of the MILF forces were ongoing, the government forces were actually fortifying their strength and even maneuvering, according to the MILF....

The military, in turn, said instead of an orderly withdrawal, MILF units asked to vacate several occupied barangays in five towns in North Cotabato, shot three soldiers through sniper fire, and torched houses igniting fresh fighting as thousands of villagers fled their homes in terror.

Spurring further confusion about why fighting began Sunday, MILF rebels point out that their "repositioning" within the region was not in response to the deadline mandated by the Army and was instead in compliance with a joint resolution signed with the government on Aug. 1, reports GMA News.

According to the Associated Press, scheduled elections in ARMM continued despite the violence.

About 1.5 million Filipino Muslims in the autonomous region voted under heavy security Monday for a new governor, vice governor and other posts in the regional assembly. The five-province region has a history of insurgent and factional violence, but the fighting in nearby North Cotabato did not immediately affect the election.

An editorial in The Philippine Star, another leading newspaper, highlights the importance of the local ARMM elections in the context of renewed fighting between the government and MILF rebels.

Every electoral exercise in the ARMM is held with the hope that the winners can make the promise of Muslim autonomy work to bring lasting peace and prosperity to one of the most volatile and impoverished regions in the country....

[T]he people of the ARMM need better governance from their local officials. Those who are voted into office today should not betray the trust placed in them by their constituents. The people's participation in the elections, amid serious security threats posed by rampaging members of the separatist Moro Islamic Liberation Front, will signify the ARMM residents' continuing belief that autonomy holds the promise of making their life better.

I don't believe that this is true maybe because I was brought up to believe he didn't have a wife.  And if this is true, why is this not being known to the public especially to the Catholic Church?  It is only wrong if this is true and yet the Catholic Church tried to hide this information from the people.  However, this will not diminish my trust in Him, the son of God and the Saviour of Humanity.  My saviour.

Grazie,

God's blessings will return to your family including Baby Matt pohon.

Jun, again, I am thankful that you gave us the opportunity to be of little help to your projects.  Sa akong pagpadala sa box wouldn't have been possible (at least not sooner) if Gemma Morris aka Glen did not help a part of the shipping cost.

I am particularly excited that the students can dig in to the Guideposts.  It's like Reader's Digest but those are like "Dosage of Hope" articles shared by real life people with real life experiences.  Bisan sa corner where people got to share recipe, they share inspiring stories to go with the recipes.

By the way, I also had some goodies there like chocolates and candies para naay treat ang mag open sa boxes. hehehe  Naa pod toy mga pens and pencils, post its pads that librarians and students can use.  Gamay ra hinuon pod kay ako lang man gipang suksuk sa mga empty spaces sa kilid2x! para ma max up nko ang spaces.

Someday pohon lang makapauli nami didto, I'd love to see the library and hopefully magkaka uban mi ni Gemma. Mag pasak=pasak jud ko sa mga beaches sa Anda kadtong mga pictures na gipang share nilang Aya san ug Blue Angel ug ni Mike and other Andahanons!

Again, thanks Jun!  The pleasure is ours!

God bless you always sa imong pagka proactive in thinking about projects for the betterment of your community and our country as a whole.

Speaking of escalators in the mall, while I was still in Cagayan de oro, my aunt from Davao Oriental came to visit us.  My auntie in CDO, my cousins and I took my aunt from Davao Oriental to the mall, the mall with escalator!  We were all at peace roaming around the mall when we decided to go to the second floor by escalator.  My CDO aunt took the lead while we followed - my Davao Oriental aunt was ahead of me while I was the last.  Ga liraw2x na akong mata kay makita na bitaw unsay naka display sa next floor.  Then to my big surprise, my Davao Oriental aunt, upon reaching the top of the floor, leaped up and landed so loudly on the floor with a loud thud!  All the people were looking at us and she looked triumphant!  My CDO aunt asked her, "ngano man ka ning lukso Florencia oi!"  Her answer should be a reminder to all of us  ;D:  "Day, ingon man nila mamaak daw nang tumoy sa escalator so mao to ning lukso ko kay aron di ko ma paakan!"  Nah, kusog pa bya iyang tingog and the people were trying to stifle their laughter but we can obviously tell na nalingaw sila!  Take note, my Davao Oriental aunt is a veteran teacher! Sus, ning sutoy akong CDO aunt! ahahahahahah  So busa, be careful people kon mosakay mo'g escalator.  It's not a joke.   ;D

You know, I seriously think that the Governor's Office should conduct its own investigation in this matter because it's not only the credibility of Benjie Oliva that is at stake here.  He is carrying the name of Bohol.  As you mentioned earlier Leo that you were excited when you and the rest of the others learned about the Best Performing Actor Award - umm I mean, Best Performing Commissioner Award because he is a Boholano.  It's the same feeling only in the opposite if he tarnish the name of Bohol in this manner.
#6972
Uso na bya na dire na i leash ang mga kids kon manglakaw especially sa malls.  Magpalit bitaw ko para magamit ni Daddy kon iyang isuroy iyang mga apo!
#6973
Amen to that, Leo!

By the way, di ba na mention in your write up posted earlier that he forged signatures not just that of Sec. Puno but others too in Bohol.  I think that alone could pin him down.  Forgery case is not a joke.
#6974
The father should have had watched the kid especially in riding escalators.  Kids are always kids (we don't really know how old the kid we are referring here) and always get fascinated to anything they see.  Even if eventually it would be proven that the mall operators are to blame for the accident, it will not make it right anymore if the boy lost his hand or something.

If proven that there was malfunction of the switch control of the escalator, definitely the Mall owners are liable as well. They should have a routine check up of all their equipments.

Accidents happen from time to time busa it helps to be cautious all the time - especially with kids around!

ah eh!  naa jud diay sakit na sya!  peligro bata pa, gasugod na iyang kabuang diay Leo!  Well then, the voters now know that to do next time! tsk tsk tsk

Comm. Benjie Oliva should explain all these accusation in public and if he can't, which means tinuod diay, he shouldn't be allowed to hold any public office in the future kay hadlok kaayo iyang frame of mind when it comes to advancing himself politically.

Court’s decision is intended to placate protest. Public opinion is largely against an expanded Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. Both Christians and Muslims are against the deal.

Zamboanga City (AsiaNews) â€" The Philippines Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order today to halt the signing of a deal between the government and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), following a wave of protest in the countr

Thousands of Christians and Muslims in Mindanao, southern Philippines, rallied today against the signing of the accord granting minority Muslims an expanded homeland.

Government and MILF negotiators had been headed for Malaysia to sign the memorandum of agreement tomorrow which lays down the new borders of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM)

The Supreme Court stopped the deal to placate popular anger even though for the government it would end the ten-year-old conflict with Muslim rebels.

Zamboanga City Mayor led about 3,000 people in today’s protest outside City Hall (see photo).

Archbishop Romulo Valles also spoke during a protest action in Zamboanga City against the proposed Moro homeland.

Many shops in the city, which has been a frequent target of bomb attacks blamed on Muslim militants, closed for the day.

Locally there is a ground swell of support for keeping many Zamboanga City out of the ARMM.

The central government defended its choice saying that it was for the good of Mindanao and the country.

However, Sultan Esmail Kiram, heir to Sultanate of Sulu, a stronghold of Muslim extremism, expressed disgust over what he called government's insensitive action of offering the areas which have been part of the ancestral domain of Sultanate of Sulu since time immemorial, to the MILF without prior consultation.

Mindanao remains at the heart of the Philippines’ ongoing politico-religious crisis. For both the Filipino and US government a ceasefire is essential to transform the area which is an important economic and trade crossroad. Unfortunately confessional divisions are still an unresolved problem.

Exactly, Maring.  The impeachment of Davis was successful because the CA's coffer was in red already.  Arnold was able to suppress the bleeding, I supposed, but I think something can still be done, budget-wise.  It's tough but we are in financial crises right now, not just California but the whole country.  Anyhow, I think there may be state jobs that are unnecessary na dapat i kaltas but reducing the salary is not gonna make things better for California.  Naa man ni domino effect dayon sa economy sa California kay makuhaan man pod ug purchasing power ang mga katawhan.  Down the line, mosamot ra hinuon kalisud California.  But what do I know.   :D
