I try to be at peace with the Lord.  Every time I say or do something hurting to people, it bothers me no end that I am actually hurting God.  Having a burdened conscience is no way to live a life.  And when you do something good, think about the joy our Lord is feeling.

Sis A, in due time we will be able to accept that Aya san has gone already but definitely she will always be in our midst especially in TB.  In the meantime, I think it is just okay to allow ourselves to mourn for our loss of a very dear, pleasant and wonderful lady that was Aya san.  Again, I am not saying this because she is gone now but because that's true.

Thanks a lot, Manay Tess.  Yes, we can't pray enough especially when things are beyond our comprehension, we are left with one choice which is to surrender to His will.

Manay Tess, I wasn't surprised na when Aya san showed up in my dreams.  Sige ko'g ipadamgo ug mga kalag and yes, gapamisa ko didto sa Bohol pero karon pa ko'ng Sunday magpamisa for Aya san.  Akong Lolo, nagpadamgo kanunay especially to express message for his siblings na dili nko sinati kay Manila-based man sila.  Also my brother in law who also had untimely death, he shows up in my dreams from time to time to relay message to my sister and to inform me that his mag ina have problems. Before Aya san died, a relative of mine (Ate Mana) who died last year showed up in my dream.  She was happy and beautiful in my dream. When I mentioned about it to my elder sister, she told me that it was Ate Mana's birthday.  Kaluoy sa Ginoo dili man pod ko mahadlok kon ipadamgo ko'g mga kalag kay wala man pod ko hadluka sa mga kalag tawon.  Ayaw lang pod intawon.

Na unting na ni karon imbis na asenso, mo atras na hinuon ta. hehehe  Kinahanglan fearless jud unta ang mga tawo to report people in the government who accepts grease money.  This business of accepting money dali ra man unta ni masakpan if our government is dead set in catching these people pero unsaon man utro man pod.  Dapat both parties, ang gabayad ug ang gapabayad ang silutan.  Kinahanglan ra jud naay mangisog to properly enforce the law aron masumpa ning kalakiha ni.

I agree with you guys na kining atong mga tricycle drivers, although not all, spoiled na kaayo.  Even way back then kadtong naa pa ko sa Tagbilaran, within city zone ra gud unta to didto sa Ice Plant further down Coca Cola building where my grandparents lived, dili mosugot mga tricycle drivers kon dili higher fare ang ibayad.  Syempre kon late at night na, wala na kay laing choice but to agree to their terms and at times igo2x ra jud ang money, maglakaw na lang jud tawon mi adto pauli.  Night school ko sa UB so by that time maka abot ko adto sa balay, ning pito na ang siren sa Coca Cola - meaning lampas na alas 10 sa gabii.  Imagine, bisan tua ra didto naglingkod sa likod sa driver, same lang gihapon gud bayad or kon bisan naa ka nag lingkod anang gamatoy na lingkoranan in front of the two passengers na very uncomfortable, same pa gihapon jud ang pamasahe.

1 pound ground chicken
4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 large sweet pickles, chopped
1/2 onion, chopped
1/2 cup raisins
1 (4 ounce) link chorizo, finely chopped
1/4 cup green peas
salt and pepper to taste
2 eggs, beaten
4 canned Vienna sausages
3 hard-cooked eggs, sliced
1/2 (8 ounce) package sharp Cheddar cheese, cut into strips

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl combine the chicken, flour, pickles, onion, raisins, chorizo and peas. Mix well and season with salt and pepper to taste. Add beaten eggs and mix thoroughly.
Spread mixture on a piece of aluminum foil; arrange sausage, hard-cooked egg slices and cheese strips on top of mixture. Shape mixture into a cylindrical roll about 4 inches in diameter and wrap in foil.
Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour. Unwrap and slice before serving with ketchup.

Thanks, Hofelina, for this recipe.  At least dili baboy ang meat, if that's any consolation.  Di ba pwede pod gina steam ang embutido instead na gi bake?

October 01, 2008, 03:47:32 AM
Precious, I am so sure the church will allow her to pray in her "filthy condition", as you say.  As to the church providing clean clothes, I think we as people and believers of Christ Jesus should do that since we are part of the church, Catholics or not.  The church is the people.  Here in America, I have seen more homeless than there in Bohol.  People in decent clothes begging and most of the time demanding money from passersby.  People with decent vehicles come to our weekly Feeding and they got to bring home food that can feed them for the rest of the week. It's just too bad we do not have enough people to donate resources to help our needy people.

I appreciate that you thought of giving clean clothes to this mother and son.  I am sure these people will appreciate you and may not be able to thank you enough, for sure they will thank God for sending you to them.  God bless you, Precious!

Hello Precious.  No, I haven't met Benjie Oliva yet and so as Dan Lim or Aumentado, for that matter, and neither do I have the desire to talk to him.  It doesn't matter, anyway.   I have nothing against Oliva.  I am for people like the way how you described Oliva: from a humble family who studied hard to achieve and is an asset to the community and stuff like that.  All I am saying is that there are strong allegations about him therefore he should be investigated.  We can not allow another young leader to start the way he was alleged with.  Forgery is not a joke.  It's a damning thing to do which is reminiscent of the Jose Velarde case, though of course not in that degree.  We already have lots of crooks in the government, if you guys can do something about it, why not.

I can't believe you are asking us Boholanos to stand by him through thick and thin!  hehehe  Anyway, I always believe that TRUTH shall set one free.  If he didn't do as alleged, he will be free and will come out a better and stronger leader.  In the meantime, I think he will surely appreciate how good a friend you are to him.

Thanks, Precious! :)

Thank you for your kind words about Aya san in your blog, Phil. I will just leave my comments here.  She was truly a beautiful person inside and out.  Just like you, I haven't seen her in person but I know she was a very deep and beautiful human being.  It is so sad that she left us already but we shouldn't be because she is now in God's heavenly kingdom.

My prayer, as all of us are praying that her children will find peace in their young hearts to accept this terrible loss of a loving and caring mother that was Aya.

God bless!

My lola lives in Anda with Aya's auntie.

Mike, she told me na she would never say good bye dire sa TB as others did kay gusto nya daghan ma basahan iyang mga anak about her.  She added saka na daw kon mangapo na sya para naa na daw sya'y "history" makita sa mga anak nya.

Heavenly Father, it is your will to take Aya san and be back in your kingdom.  Please let it be your will to take care of her loved ones especially her three young kids who adored their mother so much.  Please cushion their young hearts of all the pain brought about by the loss of their mother.  Please, Lord.  Amen.

Bohol Directory / Re: Question and Answer About Bohol
September 25, 2008, 02:47:48 AM
Sir Felix, what I know from readings is that Bohol comes from the word "Bo'ol", the place where Legaspi and Sikatuna had blood compact.

The other thing I read (Lumin Tirol's doctoral dissertation was that Bo'ol is a name of a tree that used to grow in our province.  But my question is why name a province after a tree?  What was so special about the tree to deserve our province be named after it? ???

There's also one reading that says, Bohol is named after Boho, in English "hole" kay daghan daw caves sa atong province.  So my question is, what made them decide to add the letter "l" after Boho to make it Bohol?   ???

So Precious, what are these really looking for, love, sex or just any good time or all of the above?  Personally, I don't think it's wrong for anybody to search for love in Bohol - and I mean love.  That's an unspoken freedom of anybody to search for love anywhere they want.  If these foreigners find their lifetime friend or spouses in Bohol, it may be a better place because Boholanas are essentially loving and caring people.

If, however these foreigners are looking for sex or somebody to play with while they are there vacationing in our province, that's their business already.  I am against prostitution as a means of livelihood.  I am against prostitution, period.  I used to believe that if our country has enough job for people to have decent work, we will not have prostitutes but I think I was wrong.  Here in California, there's a lot of prostitutes busted. (Remember the movie, Pretty Woman?)  It's not because there's no more options here but because it's a way to get easy money.  tsk, tsk, tsk

Macks, mao man ni ilang gina ingon na "true imitation Lacoste".

I think the first Ric Lo visited Bohol was for the wedding of Vice Mayor Toto Veloso.  Ric Lo was so ecstatic upon seeing Bohol and always say good things about Bohol from then on.  It's really nice of him to say all those about Bohol because he is a well respected journalist and people who haven't been to Bohol will get interested to see our province after reading his column.

A lot of people here justified na tungod na daw ni sa kalisud sa kinabuhi dire kay daghan nangawad-an ug balay ug trabaho but how can one have gun?  Dire, there's more beggars and homeless than there.  We have homeless people alright sa Manila but not as bad as here.  Every Wednesday, I serve

Actually, this news serves as a warning because it kind of irritates me before when a decent and macho looking people goes around asking for money at the bus or train station.  I have been seeing this tall, fit-looking man harassing people at the light rail station.  One time he asked me haughtily if I have a dollar.  I said, yes.  And he was like, give-it-to-me-then attitude. I told him, I wasn't giving it to him.  Nah, when I told my husband about it, ingnan lang ko ma shorten jud daw akong life if magsige daw ko ing-adto.  Ingon sya, just walk away and don't answer.

Well, there's a lot of facility here that provides for needy people.  I serve to one of the facilities here every Wednesday ug padalhan pa jud namo sila'g more than enough food to sustain the whole week.

World Daily News / Panhandler Shot A Disabled Man
September 24, 2008, 02:50:45 PM
Source:  Sacramento Bee

A woman panhandling in downtown Sacramento Monday pulled out a gun and shot a disabled man who refused to give her money, scattering a terrified crowd gathered at a busy bus stop, police said.

The victim, identified by family members as Frank Perez, 54, of Linda, Yuba County, was shot in the abdomen. He remained in critical condition at UC Davis Medical Center, a spokeswoman said Tuesday morning. Family members said he is expected to survive.

A short time after the shooting, police arrested Audrey Jackson, 47, who has no known address. She was spotted by a Regional Transit bus driver, who matched the radioed description of the shooter to a passenger in his bus and notified police.

Police boarded the bus at Riverside Boulevard and Broadway and she was arrested on a charge of suspicion of attempted homicide.

Relatives of Perez, who walks with a cane and has cerebral palsy, poured into the hospital lobby from all over Northern California on Monday night.

"Why would someone ask money from someone who is obviously disabled?" asked his younger brother, Adrian Perez. "This is really outrageous."

Frank Perez had been waiting for a bus on a bench near J and Sixth streets at about 3:30 p.m. when the woman approached him, said Sacramento Police Officer Konrad Von Schoech.

She asked for money and, when Perez refused, she shot him once in the abdomen, then took aim again but the gun wouldn't fire, according to Sgt. Stephen Lau.

Police had conflicting reports about whether the woman had approached other people in the area for money.

Witnesses said the shooter walked to Ninth Street and boarded a bus.

Adrian Perez, who lives in Natomas and is publisher of the Latino Journal, a bimonthly publication, said his older brother works for the state Water Resources Control Board, delivering office supplies.

He lived in Sacramento until a month ago when he moved to Linda to be near his mother who is recovering from surgery, relatives said. He caught the 3:30 p.m. Yuba-Sutter Transit every workday at the bus stop.

Family members described Frank Perez as a man of strong opinions and said he would certainly decline to fork over money to someone who appeared able-bodied.

The bold shooting terrified the late afternoon crowd gathered near the bus stop just feet from busy J Street. One of the two benches at the bus stop was bloodstained Monday evening as officers worked.

Fred Thomas of San Francisco was getting money from an ATM machine when he heard the gunfire. He turned to see about a dozen people scrambling and screaming.

"I was thinking this can't be real," he said. People were able to flag down a passing firetruck, Thomas said. Firefighters called an ambulance.

After the shooting, Joe Huddleston was walking along J Street when the suspect passed him, mumbling to herself, he said.

Adrian Perez, who said his brother hails from a large family, said: "I also pray for this woman because there is something obviously very wrong with her. You don't go out and shoot a total stranger when they don't give you money."
