Roman Catholic View

Astral Projection is a forbidden practice for Roman Catholics because the soul; containing all reason, thought, memories, emotion, attitudes, and beliefs; leaves the physical body during a wake state, and this can cause bizarre belief systems to develop, based on improperly interpreted sensations from the reality elevated from, and parallel to three dimensional reality.

The soul in an agnostic state; that is indifferent toward The Holy Trinity, or Triune God - God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit; is left without protection, roaming the atmosphere, and perhaps some distance beyond this in a spiritual ghetto that surrounds the earth: The Third Heaven. The Third Heaven is ruled by spiritual hosts of wickedness in the high places, which will send demons to deceive those who will not keep to the domain of the world.

A human soul, when detached from the physical body, during a waking state, without the protection of The Roman Catholic God, Jesus Christ, is very vulnerable to molestation by demons.

Roman Catholics refer to escorted travel in the spiritual dimension, an anointing. Jesus Christ is The Anointed of God, Who, while in human form was constantly aware of All Truth, regardless of the shortcomings of the human sensory channels. He was, therefore, constantly in a state of Astral Projection, or anointing. The anointed of God will prophesy Truth directly from God, perform miraculous healings, order the atmosphere to obey them, stop rain from falling in a certain area, pass through solid objects, and/or become invisible when threatened.

There are two general schools of thought on the nature of astral projection. These can broadly be defined as the mystical model and the phasing model.

The Phasing Model, which was defined by Robert Monroe, holds the belief that it is impossible to actually leave your body in the truest sense of the word, and that the astral planes and the physical world are merely points on the long spectrum of consciousness. When a person projects, they actually "phase" into another area of consciousness and the locales it contains. This can be likened to tuning a radio to another station. One of the initial signposts representing a phase shift away from physical reality has been labeled the state of focus 10 (mind awake/body asleep). This viewpoint can be seen as a logical progression of the philosophy that external reality is actually an internally created state

The Mystical Model includes a large variety of belief systems and astral maps, but they are tied together by their belief that astral projection takes place outside of the actual physical body. In this model, a more subtle energy body is believed to carry the consciousness outside of the physical body. In their book Projection of the Astral Body, Carrington and Muldoon detail how consciousness is transferred into a secondary "energy" body (the etheric body) to allow travel into the astral planes. This idea is also described by other authors such as Robert Peterson in his book Out of Body Experiences: How to have them and what to expect (chapters 5, 17, 22), and Robert Bruce in his book Astral Dynamics (pages 31-33, 404-410, 538). Bruce expanded on this idea in his book Astral Dynamics, stating that higher planes of existence are reached through the progressive projection of subtler energy bodies from previous projected bodies (pages 33-42). The subtle body is attached to the physical body by means of an energetic connection which usually takes the appearance of a silver cord 'plugging' into the chakra system like an umbilical cord. Robert Peterson describes this in chapter 13 of his book Out of Body Experiences, Robert Bruce in his book Astral Dynamics (pages 27, 52-53, 84, 397-403,544) and by Carrington and Muldoon in their book Projection of the Astral Body.

When you astral project you are consciously aware of things you encounter while out of your physical body.

Some people can astral project naturally. Others are afraid to remove their consciousness from the physical body and never learn to astral project.

Astral projection (or astral travel) is an out-of-body experience achieved either awake or via lucid dreaming or deep meditation. People who say they experience astral projection often say that their spirit or astral body has left their physical body and moves in another dimension known as the spirit world or astral plane. The concept of astral projection has been around and practiced for thousands of years, dating back to ancient China. It is currently often associated with the New Age movement.

Psychics often say that the subconscious (or dreaming) mind contains the spirit or astral body, resulting in falling dreams or waking up with a falling sensation or sudden jerk. Most dreams are not remembered by the conscious mind, making the experience of astral projection a subject of subjectivity. Believers in astral projection point out, though, that most ghost sightings often define the ghost as a lucid or transparent apparition walking the earth.

It is unclear whether every physical object has an 'astral' counterpart, or if a spirit literally uses incarnation into a physical body and this is what results in astral projections, or if the phenomena is something else entirely. Astral projection also touches on life itself and what happens after physical death.

(incl. posts following)

Reality is created by thought projection (consciousness) into the physical. There are 5 subtle bodies In astral projection the conscious mind leaves the physical body and moves into the astral body to experience. In astral projection you remain attached to your physical body by a 'silver umbilical type cord'. Some people are able to see the cord when astral projecting. To astral project, as with all out-of-body experiences, one must feel totally relaxed, clothing fitting comfortable, reclining is best. Often a comforter is best over the body as the physical body sometimes gets cold when you travel out.

Science and Research / Astral Projection
March 28, 2011, 04:39:09 PM
Astral projection (or astral travel) is an interpretation of out-of-body experience (OBE) that assumes the existence of an "astral body" separate from the physical body and capable of traveling outside it. Astral projection or travel denotes the astral body leaving the physical body to travel in the astral plane.

The idea of astral travel is rooted in common worldwide religious accounts of the afterlife in which the consciousness' or soul's journey or "ascent" is described in such terms as "an...out-of body experience, wherein the spiritual traveller leaves the physical body and travels in his/her subtle body (or dreambody or astral body) into ‘higher’ realms." It is therefore associated with near death experiences and is also frequently reported as spontaneously experienced in association with sleep and dreams, illness, surgical operations, drug experiences, sleep paralysis and forms of meditation.

It is also sometimes attempted for its own sake, or may be believed to be necessary to, or the result of, some forms of spiritual practice. It may involve "travel to higher realms" called astral planes but is commonly used to describe any sensation of being "out of the body" in the everyday world, even seeing one's body from outside or above. It may be reported in the form of an apparitional experience, a supposed encounter with a doppelgänger, some living person also seen somewhere else at the same time.

Through the 1960s and 70s, surveys reported percentages ranging from 8 percent to as many as 50 percent (in certain groups) of respondents who state they had such an experience. The subjective nature of the experience permits explanations that do not rely on the existence of an "astral" body and plane. There is little beyond anecdotal evidence to support the idea that people can actually "leave the body".

The archaeological finds indicate habitation from 50,000 to 700 years ago while the limestone formation in the reservation dates back from 25 million years ago, or the Lower Middle Miocene Period, based on geological studies.

The Lipuun Point Reservation, covering a 138-hectare island connected to the Palawan mainland by a mangrove forest, was declared a Site Museum Reservation in April 1972 and was made a priority site for tourism development in 1991 for its natural and cultural heritage.

Tabon Cave: The Cradle of Philippine Civilization

The Tabon Cave is the Philippines' Cradle of Civilization. The Tabon Cave complex has 200 caves where the archeological artifacts found in the caves contributes significantly to the history and heritage of the Philippines.

An American from the National Museum, Dr. Robert B. Fox, discovered Tabon Cave in 1962 together with his team of archeologists. Lipuun Point, Quezon, Palawan, Philippines is the location of the Tabon Cave complex.

Important archeological findings resulted in the discovery of Tabon Cave. Fossil human bones were found dating back 22,000 to 24,000 years ago. Tabon Cave excavations were done from the year 1962 to 1970. The Tabon Cave complex consists of 200 caves but only 29 caves were fully explored. The Tabon Cave was analyzed to be the burial site or habitation of ancient people in the Philippines.

The Tabon Cave has a great importance and contribution to the history and heritage of the Philippines. In 1972, the Philippine Government declared the site of Tabon Cave as a Museum Reservation Site. Of the 29 explored caves, only three caves are being opened to the public as a tourist attraction. Visitors flock every day to explore the Tabon Cave. The National Museum is in-charge of the maintenance and management of the Tabon Cave complex.

The Tabon Cave is facing the South China Sea. The name Tabon was derived after a large-footed bird that lays its eggs on the cave floors. The Tabon Cave mouth is about 33 meters above sea level.

The people who inhabited the Tabon Cave were alive earlier than the Tabon Man. The stone tools that were found inside the cave proved this theory. The Tabon Cave's deepest soil deposit age is about 50,000 years old. The cave's youngest soil deposit is about 10,000 years old. It shows that for 40,000 years, Tabon Cave was continuously used as a habitation for early people and they used the same kind of tools.

The archeological remains of Tabon Cave suggest that the early people living in the cave prefer to catch small animals, birds, and bats that live within the cave because the stone tools found were small enough to kill small animals.

One of the important caves in Tabon Cave complex is the Guri Cave, located in Lipuun Point, Quezon, Palawan, Philippines. Guri Cave is also considered as the early people's habitation. The cave has a certain layer of soil that contains garbage mainly composed of marine shells that the early people left behind. The date is between 5000 and 2000 years B.C. This was the time when the present sea level brought the coastline right in Lipuun Point.

The Tabon Cave complex is referred to as the "Cradle of Philippine Civilization". The archeological artifacts found in these caves makes it an interesting destination not just for tourists but for archeologists and anthropologists as well. The Tabon Cave shows the rich heritage and history of the Philippines.

Tabon Caves are a large cave complex in the western part of the island Palawan in the Philippines . The caves are located about 100 km off the city Puerto Princesa and are accessible by bus. You can also buy one of the tours organized by local agencies in Puerto Princesa. There are about 200 caves in the area of the Tabon Caves but only about 29 of them have been explored and 3 of them are accessible to public. Tabon Caves are well-known for findings of prehistoric human bones and other fossils. More than 47,000 years old human remains, 20,000 years old tools and almost 2,000 years old Chinese ceramic were found there. Most of the findings were moved to the National Museum in Manila but some of them have been preserved in the caves for the visitors who can freely explore the caves and the tunnels. There are many beautiful caves, islands, islets and white beaches near the cave complex.

Because of its importance to Philippine History and heritage, the site was declared a Museum Reservation Site by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 996 in 1972 by the Philippine Government. Out of the 29 explored caves, only three caves are available or open for the visitors. The Tabon cave complex is currently being maintained and managed by the National Museum.

Tabon cave complex is a 30-minute banca ride from the town of Quezon, a Southern municipality of Palawan. It is 155 kilometers away from Puerto Princesa City.

Inspiration & Hope / Two Frogs: A Motivational Story
March 28, 2011, 02:53:51 PM

Two young frogs fell into a bucket of milk. Both tried to jump to freedom, but the sides of the bucket were steep and no foundation was to be had on the surface of the liquid.

Seeing little chance of escape, the first frog soon despaired and stopped jumping. After a short while he sunk to the bottom of the bucket and drowned.

The second frog also saw no likelihood of success, but he never stopped trying. Even though each jump seemed to reach the same inadequate height, he kept on struggling. Eventually, his persistent efforts churned some milk into butter. From the now hardened surface of the milk, he managed to leap out of the bucket.

The moral of this little inspiring story:

--Those who don't give up and persevere may be in for a pleasant surprise!

The Philippine Carabao Center
...has gone a long way

by Ma. Eloisa E. Hernandez
July-September 2006

Conserve, propagate, and promote the carabao as source of milk, meat, draft power, and hide to benefit the rural farmers. This is the overarching mandate of the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC).

PCC's mission is to improve the general well-being of rural farming communities through carabao genetic improvement, technology development and dissemination, and establishment of carabao-based enterprise thus ensuring higher income and better nutrition for them.

Humble beginnings

“We started from a mere project funded by the United Nations Development Programme-Food and Agriculture Organization (UNDP-FAO) in 1982,” PCC Executive Director Libertado C. Cruz said.  From an idea of back crossing murrahs with 48 chromosomes with those with 50 chromosomes, the project then produced a cross breed with 49 chromosomes.  The problem then as to whether the resultant breed would be acceptable to farmers or not was answered.  There was a remarkable acceptance rate of the breed, being able to produce three to four times more milk, thus providing not just additional but higher income to farmers.

“Since we have proven that the breed is good and acceptable to farmers, we moved from here to create the PCC,” Dir. Cruz added.

By virtue of Republic Act 7307 known as the Philippine Carabao Act of 1992 signed on March 27, 1992, the PCC was born and became operational in 1993.

It was sponsored as a bill by the then senator Joseph Estrada and eventually enacted as a law through Republic Act 7307 or the Philippine Carabao Act of 1992.

The PCC had some success in reproductive biotechnology in 2004 when the first test-tube buffalo was born on April 5, also the birthday of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Incidentally, the test-tube buffalo is a female and was named as "Glory" after the President.

Late in 2007, according to Filipino scientists, the Center located in Nueva Ecija initiated a study to breed the super water buffalo that could produce 4 to 18 liters of milk/day using gene-based technology. The majority of the funding came from the Department of Science and Technology. When this marker-assisted selection process is perfected it will allow the poor farmers to conserve their resources by raising only the best producers that are genetically selected soon after birth.

At the Hongmen banquet, when Liu Bang left the tent, having been alerted to the plot against his life, he took his aide Fan Kuai with him. He said to the latter, "I did not take leave of my host. I must escape, but how can I simply depart so rudely?" Fan Kuai said, "A great cause should not be hampered by details or petty points of etiquette. Xiang Yu and his advisors are the knife and the chopping block, while we are the fish and the meat. So why stand on ceremony?" So Liu Bang left at once, together with Fan Kuai and three other men, making his way back to his own camp on foot.

Later, the phrase came to be used to describe the situation of being at the mercy of others.

How To Tips / Re: How to make a wooden flute
March 28, 2011, 09:53:01 AM
You will need

Wood Carving knife
Drill Wood lathe
Sandpaper (heavy grit)
X-acto knife

Instructions

1
Start with a piece of wood. Just about any piece of wood will do. Different woods offer different tonal qualities. Maple, cedar, apple and African blackwood produce rich tones. African blackwood is used by most seasoned flutemakers and can be hard to come by and a bit expensive for the beginning flutemaker. A good piece of maple or cedar is the best place to start.

2
Use a wood lathe with a boring-tool attachment. You can use a hand-bore tool, but the process involves scraping the bore and can be a lengthy process. If you plan to make flutes as a hobby or for profit, it's wise to invest in a wood lathe. A small table model will do the trick. Start with a piece of wood about 21 to 22 inches in length. The finished length will be about 18 inches. The diameter of the bore will be 5/8 inch on the inside.

3
Remove the wooden flute from the lathe and drill six holes in the barrel of the instrument. The holes should be placed about 1.5 inches apart and centered on the flute. Start by drilling the holes small. You can enlarge them as needed to achieve proper tuning, but if you drill the holes too large in the beginning you'll destroy your flute.

4
Use a carving knife to apply decorative features on the outside of your flute. This could be anything from Native American symbols to flowers or animals.

5
Hand sand the wooden flute with sandpaper until it's smooth, then apply water-resistant stain. You can use acrylic paints to decorate the wooden flute, then add a clear coat of glossy lacquer for a beautiful finish to your custom-made wooden flute.

Enjoy!

How to Make a Simple Wooden Flute
By Carl Hose, eHow Contributor

Flute making can be a long, detailed process that takes years of practice to perfect. A well-crafted flute made of wood is expensive and will provide the flute's owner with years of enjoyment. You don't have to be an expert to craft a simple flute from wood.
