thank you all guys for the greetings. it's really so overwhelming to have a second family, the whole TB family in here. another year had passed, im getting older. hehehehe. my parents texted me as well as my relatives from luzon, visayas and mindanao texted me to greet me happy birthday. i would love to take this opportunity to tell the world that I love my wife so much. she gave me a car. although it's 2nd hand but it's very very nice. it's a not common car that you can see in the streets. i haven't seen that model before...

Wow, congratulations, Ray!  She definitely deserves you kay pareho man diay mo loving and caring to each other!  Wishing you more blessings for years to come!

Top 10 things to love about Bohol:

1.  My beloved family lives there.
2.  Bohol will be our future home.
3.  People are nice and simple.
4.  Fresh seafood especially in Manga Public Market.
5.  We can go boating and fishing anytime.
6.  There's a lot of beautiful places to go i.e., the beaches, Chocolate Hills, Loboc River, etc.
7.  We can go to an authentic farmer's market aka 'tabuan".
8.  Going to Cebu and Cagayan de Oro is just easy.  :)
9.  Bohol is safer for foreigners.
10.  Last but not the least, I can meet my Tubag Bohol friends and their families.

Horrible father!  He was supposed to be the one to protect his child!

Bawal bitaw na dire ang mamalo but I know a people in my neighborhood na na discuss namo ni na issue.  It wasn't true that they don't "whip the butts of their kids" but gi explain nila why they were punished.

My friend in Hawaii, her kids were told by their teachers that if their parents or whoever spank or hurt them, they should call this and that number.  One time my friend disciplined their kids and the kids said they were going to call the number.  My friend asked them if they knew why they were spanked (after of course my friend explained to them what the discipline for) and yes, it's their option to call the authorities and by then they don't have to live anymore with their parents kay they will be taken cared of by the CPS (child protective services).

One time too here, my neighbor friend who is a grandma was tasked to pick up her grandkids from the school.  There were two of them.  My friend strapped one kid in her seat belt and went to the other side to do the same to the other one.  And when she is done, the other one unstrapped herself and ran back to the school where her friends were.  My friend ran after this child and held the arm and put her back to the car and "child-locked" the car.  The next day, my friend's daughter, the mother of the kids were called in by the school office kay one of the parents daw reported that whoever picked up the kids were roughed on the kids.  Ngek!  Daghan itribido pod dire and look at their kids mga bulayagon sa katilingban.

The hospital will be facing a tough battle in this case. I have a strong feeling the patient's family would emerge victorious in the litigation.

Oh, this is gonna be an easy case for the prosecutors.  It may not be a unique case but  it seems like there was neglect but then again what do I know.  Asa na to si soon-to-be Dodong Lorenzo kay sya'y maka shed light aning ilang ginatawag ug Lazarus syndrome.

I remember when my friend's husband died last month, my friend didn't want him autopsied right away (asked for at least 12 hours) hoping that he will come back to life and would just get up and take a cab to come home.  But he didn't.

wow kabuutan nimo Ate Ging, your my idle jud :)

Ngek!  Thanks, my dear flower! That's the least I can do. :)  I have been richly blessed - although excluding money  ;) but that's okay kay I learned now that you don't have to be financially rich to help people.   Back when I was in the Philippines, I can afford to buy goods to give out pero karon na financially poor ko, I donated my time, skills  in cooking by volunteering at the Feed the Needy.  It's rewarding.  It's a blessing in itself that we can be a part of something that makes people realize that there are people who cares out there and at the end of the day, they will not think of us who worked for their meals but they will thank our Lord for the blessing they received.  That's priceless.  I wish I could do more though.

Look at those people who donated anything for this bereaved family?  They are so heartwarming and encouraging.  We should emulate these people.  They may not have enough (like the tricycle driver or the house helper, etc.) and yet they  give to these people who badly needed help.  That's amazing!

We were not told to just pray man pod, di ba, Tita Tess?  Syempre, we should couple our prayers with good deeds.  We can't be praying for people to have food on their table and yet we are wasting our food.

Having said that, I think, when you told this lady friend of yours na mag ampo mo, it was for her to have peace of mind and acceptance of what happened to her husband.  Sahay man gud when we are at a loss on how to feel or react on situation, it's better to just pray and let God give us direction.  I bet you prayed for your friend anyhow, right?

Obituary / Re: Reflection on Death
October 06, 2008, 10:11:11 PM
Thanks a lot, Dong and Manay Tess.

Last Saturday, my husband, aunt and cousin smiffy and I helped a couple - our friends moved their belongings from one house to another.  They couldn't afford to live the house they were living.  Anyway, the owners of the house (both in their early 70s, Tita Stella from Cebu and Tito Tony from Manila) where my friends moved in were really nice people, to say the least.  (My husband said, extremely nice people!) While we were feasting on the yummy pansit, sinigang na manok, paksiw lechon and other stuff Tita Stella prepared for us, our conversation drifted on the issue about death.  I shared to them about this friend of mine who lost her husband on September 8.   Tita Stella told me to tell this friend of mine that her husband died for a purpose just like Jesus Christ died for a purpose.  Life is a mystery in itself and trying to sift through the mystery of life is not for us but to accept the fact that our dear departed loved ones are now without pain or sorrow.

In another thread started by Hazel, about this little boy who was talking to God the same whys my grieving friend asks, it also talks about death is for a purpose.

I am a Marian devotee.  I only have a certificate to prove I am but I still have to learn more about her.  However, I know in my heart that she is one special mother, the mother of all mothers and most importantly, the mother of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  I always ask for her intercession.

dr love, first of, welcome to Tubag Bohol!

I hope you will be able to find the missing link of your heritage.  Just one comment though.  I know a certain Mayor Rene Amper in Boljoon, south of Cebu.  He was a doctor.  He died few years ago but I know there were many Ampers in that town.

He who mistreats his father, or drives away his mother, is a worthless and disgraceful son.
-- Proverbs 19:26

Love your parents. Honor thy mother and father, it is the Fifth Commandment that Lord God gave to Moses.

Nowadays, it not uncommon for children to be disrespectful to their parents, grandparents or elderly for that matter.  We have become so "sensitive" to other religions that we fail to remind children that loving our parents is one of our Lord's Commandment.

We children should remember that our parents care for us when we were young.  Our mother bore us for many months in her tummy and have to go through first trimester struggles.  And then took care of us when we were babies.  They were anxious and sleepless when we got sick, cried when we got hurt and held our hands when we first attempted to walk.  Our parents were there when we were so helpless and needed protection.  They nurtured us.  It is but fitting to love and care for them especially when they are already in the twilight of their lives.

Even when they are not around,I know they are still my friends coz' they are in my heart.I don't need anything in return, they know that, all I know myself is I'm a friend to them.

I didnt have a second thought when I learned about the sad news. I want to be one with you in this pain that we all feel now.
Take care B.

Sis A, I feel your sincerity in what you said.  Even though you said good bye already, you set aside your pride and you came back to be one again with our virtual family, the same family where you, me, aya san and the rest of the people here belong to.  The friendship we have cemented in the past year is to me a treasure.

Losing Aya san is losing a solid pillar in TB but in time, we will get back to the track,  though I know she will always be remembered and missed.  She was one special lady.  Sometimes, a part of me is believing the thing she wrote under her avatar that she is just busy and that she will be back.  Again, I know we all will come to terms in the near future of her being gone forever in this world of the living.   And by then, we will think of her as one of our angels hovering all over us.  For now, let's allow ourselves to mourn the way we deem fit so we can easily overcome the loss and start believing our gain by having her in our lives, no matter how short it was.

Aya san, I really miss and love you.
