Pareho ra ba ang

1. TBTK
2. TBTK Inc.

As suggested ni Glacier, maghimo ta ug Bayle Tibook Kalibotan or Balak Kontest ba hinoon with highlight of Mr. & Ms. TB.

So ang atong version TBBTK or Tubag Bohol Bayle Tibuok Kalibotan  ;D

hahaha, paningkamotan jud nakong mutunga kung naay bayle, bay macks.

Regrettably,  many tourists have now cancelled or deferred their visit to Bohol because of these incidents. Murag gituyo man jud ang peak season sa summer kay high-profile players sa tourism industry man ang gibiktima.

i hope, ben, it has nothing to do with further discrediting the present local government's management...you know for election.

Obituary / Dan Seals (England Dan) Dies At 61
March 27, 2009, 07:47:12 AM
Pop Singer Turned Country Star Dan Seals dies at 61
Thursday, March 26, 2009

Pop singer turned country star Dan Seals has died of complications of cancer. He was 61.

Seals died Wednesday at his daughter's home in Nashville, after a battle with lymphoma.

The brother of Jim Seals of Seals & Croft, Dan Seals sang under the name England Dan in the 1970s in a duo with John Ford Coley.

They had several hits, including I'd Really Like to See You Tonight, Nights are Forever and Love is the Answer.

Seals and Coley met in Dallas in 1968, playing in a rock band before perfecting their soft pop sound. The duo disbanded in 1980.

Seals then began a solo career, climbing the country charts with hits such as God Must Be a Cowboy, My Baby's Got Good Timing, Bop, and You Still Move Me.

His duet with Marie Osmond, Meet Me in Montana, was a chart-topper in 1985 and earned the pair a Country Music Association Award for best vocal duo.

Seals enjoyed a successful country career throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, but his soft country sound fell out of fashion in the 1990s and his popularity waned.

He continued to tour and released his last studio album, Make It Home, in 2002.

Born Danny Wayland Seals on Feb. 8, 1948, Seals grew up in a music-oriented family in McCarney, Texas.

He learned to play bass and both his brothers â€" Eddie and Jim â€" became musicians

i just love his/their (with John F Coley) songs...i adore their music.

The sad part of it is that peace-loving Bohol is nestled close to urban centers--Cebu and CDO--with high crime incidence.

The sadder part of it is that these hired criminals are striking people connected to the economic lifeblood of Bohol--a hotel owner and a resort entertainment operator who are high-profile tourism industry players.

The saddest part of it is that while prices of commodities basic to life have gone up, the price of life itself has gone down. Anybody can be auctioned at gunpoint now for PHP 15,000!

Pastang paita!

the ones paying them must have some connection to their business. it's my logical conclusion.

it's just awfully scary to think that your "enemies" are that soulless to put you down.

Glacier, its really nothing. T.A is just a teacher's assistant. 4 of us were asked to T.A next semester for medgross anat if students need help w/ structures, we are asked to come in in lab at least once a week.

I accepted because i really love anatomy class. One way i can try to help out with my limited knowledge on anatomy, and at the same time maintain the limited knowledge and even learn some more. I try to help, and at the same time am helped in the process.

One of the main jobs of a T.A is to help prepare the cadavers, and preservation of the samples for anatomical exposition. This means we are to help the instructur(s) in removing the excess materieal on the outer layers and expose the large muscles in the upper limb, lower limb, thorax/abdomen and the skull. In my batch, Glace, we only had 1 T.A volunteer to help out and our instructor had to be in lab 5 days (as we are divided into groups due to the large class of my batch). So some of us talked about volunteering.

I know when we were studying the brachial plexus last year--we were looking for a T.A to help us in identifying/correcting something--but didn't have the opportunity. Instead we only had 1 lab instructor who had to some 30-40 students per group. Now at least next semester, there will be a T.A for ever 8-10 students.

cadaver!? ewww. lol. but, what you're doing enzo is very commendable. teachers in such environment really need volunteers. i won't be surprised if you'll be teaching next time...

Even where I am, where the justice system is well-respected, it is hard to get people to testify in crimes, unless they are closely related to the victim or have an overriding interest in having the crime solved.

That is why the pursuit of crimininals, the search for leads and the gathering of evidence are tasks that fall largely in the hands of the police, which are sometimes criticized for being inordinately intrusive and meticulous but are generally highly respected.

What complicates the recent cases in Tagbilaran is the fear that if you are rich enough to hire somebody to fell a rich man, as in the case of Taray, you can do the same to any Juan de la Cruz who dares to point you out. (I was surprised that you could actually pay someone a piddling PESO 15,000 to kill somebody, as a recent case in neighboring Cebu shows.)

In the more recent case, based on Pnp's account, Englishman Martin seems to have had previous run-ins with the Panglao police (the vaunted 'tourist police'), the very same persons we expect to solve these crimes.

Interestingly, Panglao is such a small place to be coddling such elusive criminals that even the 5-year-old case of Vivian Dumaluan is still in limbo.

Unless we see a decisive action and a dramatic resolution of these cases anytime soon, Bohol will soon lose its luster as a tourist haven and become a haven for criminals instead.

Kalooy nato!

these hired criminals are not living in Bohol. after the commission of the crime they are gone outside the province leaving no trace. and it's true, 15,000 pesos is only what it needs to eliminate your opponent. that's the lowest value for ordinary target. very professional. no traces of evidence. and the main perpetrator/s of the crime remain at large.

Benny,

Dako diay kaayo ni ug income/proceeds sa whole operation kay mo abot na ug 30 million per year to the treasury of Loboc.

kanang dili lawom kaajo.

nyt madam..

di man jud mapulihan og mas gaan-gaan nang pulunga, wind, kay it is what it connotes is the problem. HIMBISAN and its equavalents connote "scaling/ascertaining the person". to the person saying "himbis", he/she sounds a braggart (bugalbugalon/hambugirit). which is sensitive to some and which i think should be minimized or eliminated.

para nako, the right word is "sud-ongon" to refer the picture. however we say it, our comment is still what matters. i may use the words correctly, but my words may be still impolite or sarcastic. nevertheless, i would still be ready to say sorry, which is the gem of any conversation, if in case, my words flew to the wrong direction. i hope the spontaneity of our wonderful exchange of words won't be affected. let's move on. hala bira.

The problem here with what you are saying Glaceir is most people here are hadlok of being a witness.

For some reason unknown to me is many people here like it when scum can run they're lives. I thought that people who beleive in God and go to church are strong because of God but I see it diferent here so many cases are deadball because no witness to testify. If you people want this to continue then be weak if you want to fight for a better place then fight for what is right do not ever coward down.

Stand up!Make a change for once for a happeir and safer community.

pnp, it's a growing problem in this country to find witness to a crime. owing to lack of trust to our police authorities to secure their lives and of their family, most people don't want to be involved anymore in many criminal cases, especially highly sensitive ones, and come out in public to testify. i myself had a case to prove how difficult it is to encourage one to witness. in most cases, the witness always looks for assurance or a bargain for their safety. in my case, the person asked me to produce a hand-gun for self-defense in an advent of an encounter. it's the practical side of the coin why, even if they are known to be religious or Church-goer, which is, for me, beside the point; but they're not unconcerned or lack thereof.

EI, individual bankruptcies up in Canada
Tuesday, March 24, 2009 CBC News

The number of people filing for bankruptcy and unemployment benefits in this country spiked in January, according to new numbers released Tuesday, further signs that the global economic recession is turning local in Canada.

The Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Canada said that more than 117,000 Canadians filed for bankruptcy in the 12-month period ending in January 2009. That represented an increase of 15.8 per cent compared to the previous 12 months.

In January alone, more than 10,000 individuals in this country filed insolvency papers, up 2.9 per cent from December.

Perhaps more tellingly, the number of Canadians who filed for employment insurance benefits rose above the 500,000 level nationally for January, Statistics Canada said Tuesday.

That represented a jump of 23,700, or 4.4 per cent compared to December.

In fact, Canadians filing for jobless help is now 23 per cent higher than the level in February 2008, the most recent low for this indicator.

"In recent months, labour market conditions in Canada have deteriorated significantly. Through the early part of 2008, employment growth weakened, only to fall sharply later that year and into 2009, causing a spike in the unemployment rate. By February 2009, the unemployment rate hit 7.7 per cent, up almost two percentage points from a record low at the start of 2008," said Canada's statistical agency in a press release.

Both figures â€" the bankruptcies and EI claims â€" are signs of growing difficulties faced by individual Canadians as the recession in this country grows.

Part of the problem for Canadians is seen in the business bankruptcies in January.

In the first month of the year, 567 firms pulled the plug on their operations and filed insolvency papers. For the 12 months January to January, the numbers of corporate bankruptcies actually slipped slightly by 2.6 per cent but was up 2.5 per cent comparing this January to last December.

Company insolvencies rose sharply in Quebec, where the economy is undergoing a contraction in its industrial base. In January, 250 companies closed their doors versus 202 in December.

Ontario bankruptcies fell a bit in January, down half a percentage point compared to December.

Manufacturing bankruptcies were up 24 per cent in the month versus December.

US can wait: 2 top nurses opt to serve here

March 21, 2009 03:29:00
Ma. Cecilia Rodriguez
Philippine Daily Inquirer

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippine â€" After finding out she was a topnotcher in the last Nursing Board exams, it was natural for Rosario Pasimio to start looking for work abroad.

After all, this was why she studied nursing â€" to earn a good living so she could help her family.

But when she learned that the government was deploying at least 10,000 nurses to some of the country’s remotest areas, she found a reason to stay.

“It’s [one way of] giving back to the country,” said Pasimio, a nursing graduate from Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan) here. She ranked No. 5 in the latest Nursing Licensure Examination, which could help her land a job abroad. But the global recession and its looming adverse effects on the Philippines changed her mind.

“I’m sure many others like me want to go abroad,” she said. “But for now, I would like to serve my countrymen in the rural areas.”

Crystal Mae Sabela, another nursing graduate of XU who placed No. 9 in the last board exams, said serving the country was one of the first things she learned in nursing school.

“There is a crisis right now and a lot [of people] are losing their jobs,” Sabela said, adding that many people might not have ready access to health, especially those in the rural areas.

NARS program

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is urging new nurses like Pasimio and Sabela to answer the call to augment the number of health workers in remote areas where people rarely see doctors or nurses.

Under the Nurses Assigned in Rural Service, or NARS program, nurses will be deployed to selected towns in the provinces of Lanao del Norte and Misamis Oriental beginning April 1, according to the DOLE regional office here.

All 22 municipalities of Lanao del Norte, considered one of the country’s poorest provinces, will avail themselves of the NARS program.

Unemployed nurses willing to serve in their hometown, who are physically and mentally fit and with no nursing-related practice for one to three years, may apply for the program, according to the DOLE.

They must have valid licenses and should not be over 35 years old. Each nurse hired under the program will get a monthly stipend of P8,000.

For her part, Pasimio said it was not the financial reward that attracted her to join the NARS program. Rather, it was the chance to train and serve in areas where it mattered.

The only daughter of a businessman and a company manager, Pasimio admitted that she had led a “sheltered” life.

However, she said she was ready to face the difficulties of serving in a rural area.

“It will be a big challenge but I think I am up to it,” she added.

“Producing good nurses has been a tradition of my school. But they also taught us to serve our people and not just think of ourselves,” Pasimio said.

Work experience

“[New graduates] like me still need work experience. It’s just right to practice here in my hometown,” she said.

Remegio Cabañog of the DOLE-Lanao said the NARS program was meant to address the problem of unemployment and “the proliferation of volunteer nurses.”

It has become an open practice for volunteer nurses to sometimes even pay for the chance of working in a hospital, according to Cabañog, in order to obtain a certificate of work experience which is a requirement to land a job abroad.

He said under the NARS program, new nurses would undergo training and development on competency enhancement. The training was designed by the Department of Health (DOH), in collaboration with the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC).

This training, Cabañog said, would cover both clinical and public health functions.

Cardinal Sees Good, Bad Sides In Panlilio Bid

By Dona Pazzibugan, Tonette Orejas
Philippine Daily Inquirer 3/24/2009

MANILA, Philippinesâ€"Without raising any objection to the idea, Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales said Monday that a Catholic priest like Pampanga Gov. Ed Panlilio running for president in 2010 would have its “good side and bad side.”

Rosales said the issue was not a religious one, but a question of character and qualification.

“The issue here is, ‘Is this a person of integrity? Is this a person who won’t cheat, won’t steal, won’t lie? Is this person compassionate?’ That will be the issue,” the cardinal said on the Catholic Church-run Radio Veritas.

A movement has been launched to field Panlilio as a presidential candidate, with Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca as his running mate.

Over the weekend, Panlilio told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that he was open to the possibility of seeking the presidency.

Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz and San Fernando Archbishop Paciano Aniceto said Sunday they were worried that the priesthood was being used for political ends. Cruz said Panlilio should resign from the priesthood if he wanted to continue in politics.

Jaro Archbishop Angel Lagdameo Monday joined the two bishops in calling on Panlilio to leave the priesthood if he intended to run for president.

Fed up with system

Rosales said people asking a priest to run for the country’s highest public post, which he described as unprecedented, was a sign that Filipinos were fed up with the usual kind of politicians seen every elections.

“I’ve been reading about it in the newspapers. That is good and that is also not good,” Rosales said.

The Manila archbishop said it was good because people were fed up with the system.

“Regardless of who you put in position, it’s the same thing; only the faces change. The people have come to realize this, so now even a priest wants to run [for president]… because the people are fed up with the [political] system,” Rosales said.

Let people speak

He said that even if people staged an EDSA revolt over and over, “we end up with the same thing.”

“So now the people are saying, ‘All right let’s have a priest’ in the hopes that there will be real change in our country,” Rosales said.

He said the bad side of having a priest run for president was that the Catholic Church would be accused of interfering in politics.

“That’s what we want to avoid because that’s not supposed to be… [But] the people themselves are saying that the issue here is corruption, theft, bribery; it is not an issue of religion,” he said.

Support from other churches

As the Catholic Church has maintained that it would not endorse any political candidate, Rosales said he would stay on the sidelines should Panlilio run.

“I don’t want to meddle because that’s politics. But believe me, wherever the Church would find a person who is honest and good, it is not only the Catholic Church that will give its support but also other churches,” the cardinal said.

He urged the electorate to change and not be swayed by vote buying.

Panlilio said he would not resign from the priesthood should he decide to seek the top public post.

“I will insist on my right. That’s how I love my priesthood,” Panlilio said when sought for a reaction to Cruz’s suggestion that he seek a dispensation from the Vatican should he stay in politics.

“If [the Roman Catholic hierarchy in the Philippines] makes me quit and initiate it, OK lang (that’s OK),” Panlilio said.

Aniceto has yet to ask him to leave the priesthood. It was Aniceto who suspended the priest’s ministry work in May 2007 when Panlilio ventured into politics.

Other canon lawyers

The governor said other canon lawyers did not have the same opinion as Cruz, a canon law expert. Panlilio was Cruz’s secretary when the latter served as bishop of Pampanga until 1989.

The governor said he had yet to decide whether he would heed calls for him to run for president.

“I’m still hoping somebody can give it a try. He should be advocating and practicing good governance and eager to help in making a better Philippines for poor Filipinos,” he said.

He said local priests were not totally one with him in that plan and clergy members close to him were scheduled to meet him on Monday night to discuss the issue.

Lay leaders

Pampanga Bishop Roberto Mallari said, “I will not campaign against Among [Father] Ed because I stand for what he stands for.”

But Mallari said he would prefer that lay leaders enter politics. “We want [Panlilio] to return to the ministry, but it is still he who will decide,” he said.

In Isabela, Gov. Grace Padaca said she was overwhelmed by a surge of support generated by a movement that seeks to field Panlilio and her in next year’s presidential elections.

Second look

“I was at first overwhelmed, and could not help but ask, ’Why me?’ But as these expressions of support are starting to mount, we can’t help but take a second serious look at it. Right now, I’m interested to find out how our people would respond to this call in the coming days,” Padaca said.

She said groups from various sectors were volunteering because they were “hungry for change.”

Padaca said she was agonizing over the clamor for her to run for vice president.

“If only this cup is taken away from me,” she said. “I wish there were more people with fire in their belly.”

Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel Arroyo sneered at efforts to convince Panlilio to run for president, saying this should explain why the self-styled anti-jueteng priest had been frequenting Metro Manila’s media outlets.
