Economists warned on Monday that the Philippines’ outsourcing sector should develop and market higher-value services to cope with the United States’ moves to “insource†more jobs, which could signal a long-term curb in demand for outsourcing services.
That is, unless Manila-based companies differentiate their services from those that can be obtained in the US and from other outsourcing destinations such as India.
About 70 percent of business process outsourcing (BPO) firms in the Philippines rely heavily on US clients, although demand for outsourcing jobs is growing in Europe and Australia.
Since BPO firms, knowledge process outsourcing companies, and similar entities contribute greatly to employment and foreign exchange earnings, US insourcing “could lead to a decline in both (jobs and dollar revenue),†Dr. Cid L. Terosa of the University of Asia and the Pacific said via text message.

By presenting the discounted ticket (used or unused) at any PAL ticket office, another ticket may be bought to any of PAL’s 20 domestic destination for the giveaway price of just P70 (one-way, economy).

New York-based business process outsourcing (BPO) firm EXL is growing its local workforce before the end of 2012 as it takes advantage of the large supply of talent the Philippines has to offer.
The company is opening its second site in the country at the SM Mall of Asia’s Two E-Com Center in Pasay City Wednesday, in a ceremony that is expected to be attended by President Aquino.
The new facility will initially have 500 seats, which will bring the company’s total capacity to 2,000 seats. The company also has the option to double the size of its new facility if need arises.
The opening of the facility comes just days after US President Obama’s allies on Capitol Hill filed a bill to discourage the outsourcing of work to countries like India and the Philippines.

San Miguel Corp., in partnership with the Citra group of Indonesia, is wrapping up a deal to take over the 35.9-kilometer South Luzon Expressway, putting the tandem in charge of a vital artery in the metropolis.
Industry sources said SMC and Citra had reached an agreement in principle with the foreign owner of the SLEx concession to buy out the latter’s controlling stake in a deal worth over P20 billion.
SLEx, which runs from Alabang to Sto. Tomas, Batangas, also attracted the Metro Pacific group of Manuel V. Pangilinan and even the Ayala conglomerate.

Ayaw pod intawn i-encourage ning aksyon, Father, uy! Pinaka sobrang sue happy....to the extent that doctors are now practicing defensive medicine to avoid being sued.
This is one of the many reasons why physicians spend 60% of our time filling papers and documents.

the doctor was somewhere else; probably in another hospital, or so i would like to believe. perhaps he was tackling a life-and-death emergency, who knows. i can take comfort though in the fact that none of us, maybe 6 or 7 bored patients-in-waiting, was an emergency case. doctors understandably hardly have time on their hands, but it would be nice if some time estimates can be had so patients like me need not waste our own precious time.

Tubag:
Ngano man?
