Bible Study / I asked God
June 02, 2008, 01:38:53 PM
I asked God...

I asked God why I wasn't rich.
He showed me a man with the wealth of a thousand kings,
who was lonely, and had no one to share it with.

I asked God why I wasn't handsome.
He showed me a guy more handsome than any other,
who was ugly because of his vanity.

I asked God why He'd allowed me to become old.
He showed me a boy of 16,
who lay dead at the scene of a car accident.

I asked God why I didn't have a bigger house.
He showed me a family of six,
who had just been evicted from their tiny shack,
and were forced, to live on the street.

I asked God why I had to work.
He showed me a man, who couldn't find a decent job,
because he'd never learned to read.

I asked God why I wasn't more popular.
He showed me a socialite with a thousand friends,
who all left the moment the money and parties were no longer there.

I asked God why I wasn't smarter.
He showed me a natural born genius,
serving life in prison for making ill use of his knowledge.

I asked God why He put up with a thankless sinner like me.

He showed me His Bible.

He showed me His Son
who took my place at the judgment.

I knew then how much He loved me.

What's eating you today?
Are your problems weighing heavy on your heart?
Know, then, that you are loved.

Have a WONDERFUL day!
Then brighten someone else's day, in any way you care to.

Remember, a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.
Just reach out and touch someone's life and brighten up his or her day.

I've Been Through The Storm, But Look At Me I'm Still Standing, I'm Still Here.........
If it doesn't kill you... it will make you stronger.

"If you see people without a smile today, give them one of yours!"

Quote from: Lorenzo on April 29, 2008, 03:03:37 PM
I need someone to explain to me something, as I have been trying to understand a particular scriptural saying.

"You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men"
(Matthew 5:13).

My question is what does the Lord mean by the salt? Are Christians, in general, the salt? Or is the salt humanity in general? Just what did Christ mean by saying that salt could loose its savor?
What can we do in order to prevent this from happening?

sa karaang panahon sa middle east, kanang asin gi mining na siya. bulto2x ang gidak-on sa bato ana. inig human ug separate sa asin sa bato, ang bato na nagtangag ug asin himo-on na na nilang murag silbing doormat sa ilang balay. mao to literal na meaning sa gisuti ni jesus na "  but if the salt has lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men"

the salt not only gives balance to the taste to the food but also act as a food preservative. the salt mentioned here are the good people, they keep the balance in the world. they make the difference...they make the world a better place to live...if they lose their savor, mao to dapat na cya silutan ug yatak yatakan nalang. in order not to lose its savor, one must continue studying the words of God. once must continue doing the will of God.

Recently I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure.

Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said, "I love you and I wish you enough".

The daughter replied, "Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom".

They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?".

Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking,
but why is this a forever good-bye?".

"I am old and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral," she said.

"When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough'. May I ask what that means?".

She began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone". She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail and she smiled even more. "When we said, 'I wish you enough', we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them". Then turning toward me, she shared the following as if she were reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.

I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.

She then began to cry and walked away.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them but then an entire life to forget them.

To all my friends and loved ones,
I WISH YOU ENOUGH

Family & Parenting / Some Stories About Marriage
June 01, 2008, 04:12:24 AM
Once there was a young man who was so eager to know about marriage in other cultures around the world. So one day, he asks his father. “Dad, is it true that in Indian or in Arabian culture, the husband doesn’t know to whom he is marrying until after several days of their marriage?” The father smiled and said,” Son, actually it did happen everywhere all the time.”

The moral lesson of this story is that during our engagement period, we are so in love and too blind to see the flaws and imperfection of the one we fall in love with. Just like what it implies in the next situation.

After a lengthy quarrel, a wife said to her husband, "You know, I was a fool when I married you." The husband replied: "Yes, dear, but I was in love and didn't notice it."

Truly marriage is a very powerful institution that only God can revoke its purpose. In order to make a marriage work happily ever after, it would be a perfect combination for a blind wife and a deaf husband. For a blind wife will not see the mistakes of her husband and a deaf husband will not hear the naggings of his wife.

Love Talk / Maybe
June 01, 2008, 03:44:37 AM
MAYBE
love is not about finding the perfect person; it's about learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.

Maybe
God wanted us to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

Maybe
when the door of happiness closes, another opens; but, oftentimes, we look so long at the closed door that we don't even see the new
one which has been opened for us.

Maybe
it is true that we don't know what we have got until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives.

Maybe
the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Maybe
the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; after all, you can't go on successfully in life until you let go of your past mistakes, failures and heartaches.

Maybe
you should dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you dream of and want to do.

Maybe
there are moments in life when you miss someone -- a parent, a spouse, a friend, a child -- so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real.

Maybe
the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

Maybe
you should always try to put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that something could hurt you, it probably will hurt the other person, too.

Maybe
you should do something nice for someone every single day, even if it is simply to leave them alone.

Maybe
giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back. Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart; but, if it doesn't, be content that it grew in yours.

Maybe
happiness waits for all those who cry, all those who hurt, all those who have searched, and all those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of all the people who have touched their lives.

Maybe
you shouldn't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.

Maybe
you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and
enough hope to make you happy.

Maybe
when you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was  smiling.

Maybe
you should try to live your life so that when you die, you are the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Maybe
you could share this with those people who mean something to you, ...with those who have touched your life either positively or not,
with those who can and do make you smile when you really need it, ...with those who make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down, and ...with all those whom you want to know that you appreciate them and their friendship.

A Love Story

Once there were two complete strangers
Which by chance fall for each other
It started from a single chat
A feeling that’s so very hot…

They constantly chat day and night
Sharing their feelings of delight
Loving each other with all their might
Believing their feeling was right…

One day they had an awful fight
Both were arguing who is right
Exchanging words of obliteration
Until they lost each other’s passion…

It’s so sad how their story ends
Two broken hearts that can’t be mend
Is this really be their end?
Or something still waiting to happen…

Spoilers For Smallville Season 8!
source : http://www.kryptonsite.com/

UPDATED 5/24/08: Laura Vandervoort (Kara) will not be a series regular next year. However, she may return for a few episodes.

UPDATED 5/15/08: It is likely that Lex will simply be "missing" as the new season begins. In his place the new character "Tess" will be looking over his assets. Producers hope to get Michael Rosenbaum back for guest shots; whether or not they will be successful at getting him remains to be seen.
- If Laura Vandervoort does not return as a series regular, it is likely that Kara will remain in the Phantom Zone until she can be rescued.

- Phil Morris may be returning as the Martian Manhunter in Season 8, and James Marsters has expressed interest in more appearances as Brainiac.
- TV Guide is reporting that, since his new pilot Austin Golden Hour did not go to series, Justin Hartley could be returning in Season 8 as Green Arrow.

UPDATED 5/14/08: TV Guide is now reporting that Allison Mack will indeed be back next year for all 22 episodes of the season.

Tom Welling, Aaron Ashmore, and Erica Durance are all returning for Season 8, and Kristin Kreuk will be back for at least a few episodes, but not all of them.

Laura Vandervoort, who was at one time considered a "lock" for next season, is conspicuously not on the Season 8 cast list...

UPDATED 5/8/08: Details on the new characters for Season 8!

UPDATED 5/1/08: Michael Rosenbaum will not be returning as a series regular for Season 8.

Two new characters have been announced for Season 8:

Doomsday: In season eight, Clark will face his ultimate challenge with the appearance of the legendary, unstoppable destroyer Doomsday, who appears on “Smallville” for the first time. As comic book fans know, Doomsday is notorious for being the only character in the DC Comics universe to have killed Superman.

Female villain: Doomsday won’t be Clark’s only nemesis in the upcoming season. The executive producers are tight-lipped about a new female villain they will be introducing, but they can say she will be familiar to many fans and will set her sights on Clark in ways Lex never could. Intelligent, brilliantly manipulative, and dangerously sinister, our gorgeous new villain has one more weapon in her arsenal: Her mutual attraction with Clark may prove to be as deadly as kryptonite for him.

I Believe (ENGLISH VERSION) - My Sassy Girl
I Believe (ENGLISH VERSION) - Lyrics

I believe, though you're not with me,there will be no end of our love.
I believe, though you'll not come back, I will stil feel the warm of your touch
The memories we shared will always be alive, though it breaks my heart when i remember the tears in your eyes.
I am here just close your eyes cause it hurts me watching you go crying leaving me behind.
Someday well see again and smile. I know you'll be back with me beacause I believe.
I will wait for you. The one and only you forever.

I believe that there will be hello, eventhough you just said goodbye.
I believe that i can see you sing, eventhough no music is playing.
The tears in my eyes are all because of you, though I dont wanna show you I cant help but feel blue.
I am here just close your eyes cause it hurts me watching you go crying leaving me behind.
Someday well see again and smile. I know you'll be back with me beacause I believe.
I will wait for you. The one and only you forever.

Now the sky is not the same before, the stars not shinning anymore.
Since ive let you soar still i'll wait for it to shine again.
I'll wait for you to come again.
You are the only reason why Im still living. I breath because of you.
Hoping you'll breath again with me.
Someday well see again and smile. I know you'll be back with me cause you're my destiny.
I will wait for you. The one and only you forever.
I love you...

A genetic anomaly allows a young man to teleport himself anywhere. He discovers this gift has existed for centuries and finds himself in a war that has been raging for thousands of years between "Jumpers" and those who have sworn to kill them.

The idea of "jumping" is really neat and the movie creatively and thoroughly explored the possibilities given the premise. Besides the incredible effects, you have to see this in the theaters because of the amazing landscapes and city scenes. From the Colosseum in Rome, to the pyramids in Egypt, if you love to travel, this movie will take you all over the world.

OK, this wasn't the most thought provoking of films. As to the quality of acting, with all the action, there aren't the scenes available to showcase good acting. You go to a movie like this to be entertained for a bit, not for the intellectual stimulation, and both are valid forms of entertainment (unlike what other reviewers may imply).

Besides, Samuel Jackson is great and I always like his roles and having Rachel Bilson for eye candy doesn't hurt either.

The Lost Years of Jesus...Did Jesus go to Tibet and India?

"Jesus in Himalayas"

# Ancient scrolls reveal that Jesus spent seventeen years in India and Tibet

# From age thirteen to age twenty-nine, he was both a student and teacher of Buddhist and Hindu holy men

# The story of his journey from Jerusalem to Benares was recorded by Brahman historians

# Today they still know him and love him as St. Issa. Their 'buddha'
