True that 100 pesos is nothing to those who have money. So I am again pleading to our kind hearted TB members to please join FGCA charity.

12 dollar membership fee/year is not a lot of money but if you put it all together with the many other 12 dollars it can give one poor Filipino a good education.

We will be accepting new scholar applicant next year if our funds allows. So please join and be one of us.
To become a member is easy. Just Pls follow the link.

For those who are in the Philippines you can deposit your membership fee directly to PCIB equitable bank.
The charity has a peso account there.

Thank you all in advance.

Mike, natouch gyod bitaw ko tinood ani nga story.

Swéden is not perfect BUT The reason why I often said that Sweden is a paradise when you come from Philippines is because here the peoples basic need is given for free.

‘We are all to blame for poor girl’s suicide’--bishop

By Beverly T. Natividad
Inquirer
Last updated 08:34pm (Mla time) 11/07/2007

MANILA, Philippines -- Not only the government, but somehow, all of us, are to blame for the fate of a 12-year-old girl in Davao City who took her own life because of her family’s poverty.

This was the moral lesson conveyed by some of the country’s religious leaders in the wake of Marianette Amper’s suicide last Friday.

Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar V. Cruz said it was the “summit of desperation” for a young child to end her own life out of hunger and poverty. He said the incident showed the desperation of many Filipinos.

While suicide does not particularly go well with Roman Catholic Church teaching, Cruz said he would be the last person to blame the child for taking her own life.

He said the community, which directly influenced the young girl, should be looked into. Her death, said Cruz, was brought about by her social surroundings.

He said everyone is also to blame for her death. If one girl goes hungry due to poverty, then the entire society is responsible for it, Cruz said.

“This means we have not done well. We have not done our civic duty to correct the abuses, and to censure graft and corruption. We have kept our eyes closed. We did not act,” he said.

The National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP), which represents the mainline Protestants in the country, echoed the same view, saying the death the girl represents the failure of society as a whole.

“We have called them poor and eyesores, but what do you call a society which made them like this?” said Bishop Eliezer Pascua of the NCCP executive committee.

On the moral aspect, Jesus has always asked the people to identify with the poor, according to Pascua.

The essence of Jesus’ teachings is to fight poverty because Jesus has always talked about the poor as an act of critiquing the present order which has contributed to the poverty, he said.

“Every individual has a responsibility, yes, but we also have a calling for a collective responsibility,” said Pascua.

That calling asks all the faithful not only to take part actively to build a just and fair society, but also to fight an unjust and an oppressive society, according to the NCCP official.

The Philippines for Jesus Movement (PJM), for its part, said the government, too, should take responsibility for the sad event. Poverty and hunger, which was the reason for the young girl’s suicide, could be traced directly to corruption, it said.

The Bible says that governments should be “terrors against evil” and “promoters of goodwill,” said Bishop Dan Balais, PJM national director.

Governments therefore exist to take care of the poor and the weak. But politicians have corrupted the meaning of government, Balais said.

“The death of the girl is the result of our problems of corruption, injustice and oppression. There have been many wake-up calls that have remained unheeded,” he said.

Tomten redan överöst med brev

Publicerat: 7 november 2006, 08:40

Wow Em! so you are as old as my daughter??
Mao diay..:-)

It is nice that you have visited Bohol many times alaready.

My daughters first visit to Pinas was in 1995 and she was only 1.5 years old. She didnt remember anything then. And her second visit was last june-july this year. Now 13 years.

Month after we arrived back to Sweden she said, she wants to go back to Bohol :-))
Also my son who is 11 years old wants to go back to Bohol already this year. :-)

So I am so happy they like Bohol. But we can not travel there as often as we want. Work, school  and other things and  moneywise.

I actually can't name one.
ALL OF THEM WERE SO GOOD!
But I do remember this time in Lila,
My dad took us out on the motor boat by
our families beach house and I looked down into
the water and I saw the most prettiest thing ever.
It was sort of like a cliff in the water and it
Had coral and fishes and well, It was soo breathtaking.
I could count the numerous times I laughed so hard,
or tasted something new and so mindblowing.
I remember alot of times I'd just cuddle down in
my favourite section of National Bookstore
In Island City Mall. And I found out I have a good instinct for swatting flies.

Sorry for writing so much. I just really miss it there.
The friends, family, food, atmosphere, culture.
In philippines , I flourish there. Who Doesnt?

Hello Emlegaspo!
First of all..welcome to Tubag Bohol. ( sorry my welcome note is a bit late)
Secondly: I like reading your posts..your best memory and experiences in visiting Bohol reminded me a lot of my 13 year old daughters best memory about Bohol.:-)

The boat ride to the corals and the visit to national bookstore in ICM. :-)

What a tragedy!  What a sad young/hard life? What a short existence and ended to a nonsense death? Poverty can caused depression and she was still too  young to tackle such a problem of hunger due to the lack of daily needs. She has no way out to understand how a young life must have to suffer and to meet one's fate.   She did not have a parental guidance for his poor parents has this "kakha-tok-tok" methods of living. I feel sad for this.....but we must have not to forget that she is/was not the only one...there are lot of children who died of hunger  but...her life she ended it with a message of warning to all those are having the same fate.  This "message" is addressed to our government to do more and/or entertain our poor folks who are rich in children production.  All I can say,  wake up Filipinos! What a shame?.....ang uban ning-butirik nas kabusog ug sa kahakog!  Where is justice? Most of the time..if I see/encounter beggars - sick  kids....i used to ask.................
"God, I know you are good to me and to others.....why not making it equal?

I just think of our supported 7 years old child in Ormoc, Leyte which we will be visiting this coming December.

Had visited and spent an abundant day to an Orphanage in Tagbilaran bringing lot of things for those children, the eyes of those kids saying thanks reminds me, that we must have not close our eyes.

I am very proud of Asianfairy who is  a good example, to this kind-hearted lady of doing such organization....my respect and salute!

Thank you for this dear Bambi. I am just trying to help in my own little way.
My great thanks  to all TB members who helps support this foundation/organization.
I hope many more will join.

Ang mga gagmay nga kantidad kon maipon na dako na kaayo ikatabang.

Lami unta kon naa sab ay matukod ang TB nga foundation para ihatag sa mga nagkinahanglan sa tabang sa ating nasod labi nas Bohol.

Grazz, were you orphaned? i think not. You know why? your parents were so smart to raise you kids... yeah we were 5 siblings and yes we were poor too...but parents before were different from parents now... our parents knew what to do before doing these things di ba? i meant to those parents who never think a little bit of what will happen of having so many kids... Grazz, these parents lived in urban areas which insformations are widespread through media,  not in the rurals like we do that TVs and electricity has not even yet exsisted? did you get me???

I made that post very short, real short that you guys must've misunderstood me, I even ended it up on "Whose to blame?" because i dont want to touch anymore religion in here which was the culprit of it all... Honestly, which countries have so much orphaned kids??? is it the most religious ones??? or am i wrong?

Tiya, walang personalan to ha? you know i have always liked you  ;D

Miss Da Binsi,
Hello B...

Mao gyod na..klariks kaayo nga  ang hinungdan ani kay di man god itugot sa catholic church ang child prevention methods. Di man pagamiton sa condom..etc..
So yes, whose to blame???

#682
NFL, nice to have you here in Tubag Bohol.

I am asking the same question as you..but I think I already know the answer.
If these students being abused have only influential parents maybe this case is already a headline in all newspapers in Bohol.
Most often poor people dont get the justice they deserve.
It seems most of our laws are  made only for the rich and influential people.

It has no teeth when applies to the lowly Filipino. Thats a cruel reality.

This is nice that GMA Network fullfilled the little girl s wishes. But I wish that many rich people in our country doesnt need to wait a tragedy to happen before they share their blessings.

And it is a BIG scandal that most of our political leaders are enriching themselves (owns mansions and expensive cars) while millions of Filipino people are starving to death.

Our government must soon find a way to alleviate the poverty problem in our country.

Suicide girl laid to rest; GMA Network fulfills her wishes
11/10/2007 | 06:45 PM

Email this | Email the Editor | Print | Digg this | Add to del.icio.us By AL JACINTO

ZAMBOANGA CITY - A poor girl who was driven to commit suicide because of extreme poverty and hopelessness was buried Saturday in Davao City.

Mariannet Amper, 12, hanged herself November 2 inside their house in the village of Maa. Hundreds of people, many of them moved by the girl's tragic end, came to pay their last respects. They cried as the girl's white coffin was buried.

GMA Network also aired a special on Saturday as a tribute to the girl, who had written a letter asking the TV program "Wish Ko Lang" (I Just Wish) for a pair of school shoes and bicycle for her younger brother and goats for her unemployed parents - her father, Isabelo, a former construction worker and mother, Magdalena.

The letter was written two years ago and was never mailed for lack of money to buy a postage stamp. GMA Network has given the family a mini-van, a dozen goats and a bicycle just as what the girl wished for.

"All her classmates are present and they cried also. We cried, but could do nothing else now," the girl's father said.

Alphonse Rivera, head of the child rights organization Salinlahi Alliance for Children's Concerns, said the effects of poverty have been evident even during the time of previous administration, but had allegedly worsened under the Arroyo administration.

"We have already seen and heard news of adults committing suicide in desperation borne out of poverty by jumping from billboards or hanging themselves," Rivera said.

He said that since 2005 surveys showed rising statistics on the incidence of hunger among Filipinos “and yet no decisive move to alleviate economic conditions has been done by the government."

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo this week has ordered the released of P1 billion to further accelerate the government's hunger-mitigation and anti-poverty program.

But Rivera said funding was "too little, too late." "Economic policies must be reviewed to enable the people to live a decent life. Increase wages, nationalize the oil industry, genuine land reform for the farmers â€" these are what the people are calling for but has remained unheeded," he said.

Rivera also cited a recent study by the International Food Policy Research Institute that 11 million Filipinos live on less than $1 (P42) a day experienced hunger. "Many children have stopped schooling and are forced to work to help in the family's income. Yet after all their efforts, at the end of the day, they still go to bed hungry," he said. - GMANews.TV

Not only one but 8 people were killed and 12 others wounded.

The killer was also a student and only 18 years old.

Before ni niya gihimo iya na gibutang sa you tube ang iyang video testing his gun and explaining why he is doing this.
He said: "you will surely call  me crazy, a psychopat, a criminal and a big s***..but the truth is, I am just an animal, an individual, a dissident"

When the police came he also point the gun in his head and shot himself.

What a tragedy.

Shooting in school often happened in USA where it is easy to get a gun but this is first time here in Scandinavia.
It is really a very big shock !
