For me, living well is inhaling pleasure during this brief but seems eternal moment; since I was given this chance, once in this infinite universe.

Sometimes I felt denial of death. I wished I am immortal.

I can not be angry nor sad; I don't have time for that.

Nag damgo ko one time nga I was one of the crew in the Pirates of the Carribean.

It seems realistic and lucid at the biginning. Even I can feel the wave and the blowing wind. Then one ancient Galleon was aproaching and firing cannons, but then suddenly I saw modern buildings and the director shouted "Cut!" Hehehe.

I am thinking if killing is a mortal sin, then why does God allow war as in the Holy Bible?

If you killed a man during war, is that a mortal sin or what kind of sin?

Some said that if you killed while defending yourself, you are not committing murder.

But what if during war, you are on the offensive?

Can anyone justify this in terms of Biblical philosophy?

I have read similar article in 2004 and it was featured in the Nat Geo. It seems that it became a fashion during ancient history. It was believed that the Ancient Egyptians started it. Pharoes and royal families practiced this procedure during infancy and it became some sort of fashion or concept of beauty during ancient times.

There was even a theory that the Ancient Egyptians invented Flight and the Pyramids were their launching pads. With power of flight, they influenced the Micronesians, Mayans, Hopis, Incas, Aboriginees, Rapanoids and even built several Pyramids in South America. In the Inca plains, you can see huge canals that were though to be for irrigation, but if seen in arial view is actually a huge drawing of spider, humming bird and insects. The huge drawings can be seen only from Arial view, thus, one can conclude that the power of flight is already achieved during ancient History.

There are many things from Ancient History that will amaze the modern world.

Did you know the mystery of the Crystal Skulls? There are hundreds of them found today which are from Ancient history. Most are anatomically correct and crystals can not be sculptured even with modern tools because they will crack easily. Until now scientist are puzzled how the ancient people achieved such sculpture.

What is written on this tread actually happened and really came true.

Armed with nothing but hope and virtue, Obama is facing a big task to repair the fallen Financial Institutions that were caused by greed of some.
#612
This is Macky with you. I tried putting this piece of history in writing folks:

What  is required of us now is a new era of responsibility. A recognition on the part of every American that we have duties to ourselves, our nation and the world. Duties that we do not grudgingly accept, but rather sees gladly. Firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character and giving our all to a difficult test. This, is the price in the promise of citizenship. This is the source of our confidence. The knowledge that God calls on us to straighten  an uncertain destiny. This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed why,  men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent mall (pause).

And why a man whose father less than 60 years ago, might not have been served in a local restaurant, can now stand before you, to take a more sacred oath (applause and Obama’s parents in standing ovation, whistle, yeah, whow).

Let us mark this day of remembrance of who we are and how far we have travelled. In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by, dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned, the enemy was advancing, the snow was stained with blood. And the moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people: Let it be told to future world, that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive, that the city and the country alarmed at one common danger came forth to meet it (short pause).

America, in the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue let us brave once more the icy currents and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children’s children that when we were tested, we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter, and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God’s grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom, and delivered it safely, to future generations.

Thank you, God bless you and God bless the United States of America (applause).

Thanks Manay for opening this beautiful topic & information.

Leo, keep up the good work of honest journalism. Manay, Leo is just conveying the sentiment of the people as a journalist. Of course he has also his own personal opinion.

However, in my honest opinion, the people of Baclayon are acting 'sour grapes' just because the credit goes to someone else. Too much of hypocrisy; for many years nobody has done nothing to preserve/restore this priceless jewel and it was left to rot. In fact, many historical artifacts at the church were stollen and these theft incidents were not given much importance/ no sense of ownership.

I don't mind if somebody has profited of the concert as long as the piece was restored to its glory.

There is nothing lost here, but pride. Both parties gained something and I am happy that this piece of treasure is exposed to international level.

On other points (palm oil & bio piracy), I am glad of Leo's views. We should look before leaping. Any corporation is not for charity and they came for big time profits. We should not allow any of them to inch-in without undergoing transparent negotiation for a win-win deal. The media/journalists plays an important role on this.

If the project is from the UN, World Bank or non-profit organization, then we should have second thoughts.

Leo, I would greatly appreciate if you would cover the Garcia Hernandez Philippine Sinter aftermath. If you would conduct a documentary and interviews of the affected residents and what happens after 30 years and what will happen after completion of it's contract 70 years from now, who have profited, is there any benefit, etc. This is a good example.

This law should be abolished. With this law, the sultanate of Sulu's pursuit to claim Sabah is ironic if he himself is powerless inside his own country.

With our growing population and poverty, it is time to re-think Sabah.

The best deal that I could think of is to sell the land at present value to the Malaysians and use the money to pay-off our debt. Of course the process should be handled by the world bank and not by any politician because money is hot.

I think to have the land would just be having a big headache to manage. Our present government set-up is too much on politics and incapable of handling even minor issues such as Alabang Boys.

It is actually the West (the Spaniards) who thought us these traits. Because of Spanish ultra macho society, it is the male who does the heavy chores and women are left at home.

However, before the Spanish occupation, our major religion is Hinduism. In Hinduism, it is the girl who seek her mate and propose marriage. During marriage, it is the obligation of the girl's family to shoulder all expenses including a new house, gold garments, land...etc.

It is also recorded in our history that in ancient history, both sexes are equal and there were even warrior females like princes Urduha of Luzon.

The cold was forecasted earlier in October due to US economic recession, only few factories are burning up in China.

Today morning, it was 3 deg C in our place in Saudi Arabia which is unusual to the normal 15 deg in January. This weekend it is forecasted at 1 deg. I experienced like this 10 years back.

General Topic / Re: Hope of Political Change in Bohol
January 11, 2009, 12:02:50 AM
What if people who needs change would conduct fund raising to bribe those crook politicians not to run in the election. Bribe money will be given only after the election.

Politicians bribe and people will also bribe. Its fire against fire you know and money talks.

The extra money, if there is any will be spent for scholarships to future leaders. These future leaders are the hope.

Actually, I am more than 15 years living outside the country and I don't know anymore about Philippine politics. The above is only my imagination.

I am using the psychological approach to my children, like if you don't study tonight, you can not enjoy your Playstation this weekend.

I don't hide reality to my kids and I am not sensoring anything before thier eyes. They see the world as it is happening.

There are many games which are educational like "Harvest Moon" where they will be practiced to produce farm products and sell to market while playing. They will learn to manage financially at a very early age while playing.

Altered nature is not nature. Its quality and value diminished.

The sand from ocean floor is coarse grain. It can not replace the powdery fine sand on the shoreline as it takes years to accumulate such by action of wave and weather.

If this happens, tourists will experience coarse sand and not the powdery sand that they came for. All they will get is frustration and by next tourist season, they will look for another destination.

Nabasa ni nako sa una. Murag dihay sumpay ani nga kung ma conquer nimo kining 7 deadly sins, ma feel nimo ang kakaibang power ug wisdom.

What is fasting? Fasting is a physical, mental and spiritual excercise para ma conquer nimo kining seven deadly sins or 7 human weaknesses.

But for me, the worst sin that is not included among the 7 is "Self Pitty".

I remembered one of my causins who studied forestry explained to me that some species of trees found in the Philippines would emmit hallucinating chemicals when treatened like Acacia and Balite.

He said further that this explains why some people who were said to be possessed by bad spirits were found under the Acacia or Balite and seems like possessed by demons.

They are not actually possessed but hallucinating to the chemicals emitted by these trees, Allelochemicals as you explained.

Thanks Lorenzo for this scientific explanation that disproves superstitious beliefs.

Best Example of this negligence is the quarry in Garcia Hernandez.

For everyone's information, our limestone is the highest grade around 80-90% purity and is the best material for making top of the line ceramics in Japan.

However, the deal between Philippine Cinter & Japan is 100 years. It happened since I was grade six back then (1979).

At least naay high rise building or shopping complex, to the least a decent public market. Asa man diay ang kwarta ani nga na ipon for more than 30 years of rent/taxes?

Back then, the deal was in a closed door. There were no public consultations, no ecological assesment, no study conducted. We do not know the extent of damage to our ecology and biodiversity from start of that mine up to present. There were dynamite blastings that may disturb the natural habitat of rare species and clear cutting of indigenous forest.

As per my uncle who is a farmer in Bilar, he noticed something that disturbed me. He said that since the quary began in Garcia Hernandez, the water supply at Raja Sikatuna Park and Lugarita was reduced. Also some wells were dried up. Those wells were dug by my grandfather and known to have water even during drought. Note that Raja Sikatuna is just behind the Quarry site of Garcia Hernandez.

All I can say is we are all loosers due to our negligence.

You are right Manay. If you have genuine faith, there is nothing to fear in this world except your own actions that leads to commit sin.

However, for the sake of just fun and discovering our past beliefs, I find this thread interesting.

Let me continue:

Unsa man ang dagon sa himbis sa PAWIKAN (for housewives only)?

Bisan mura ug tuldok lang kadak-on.

Also there is a cave there called as Judas cave, believed to be the place where Judas hide and hang himself. That place is very famous amongst Pinoys.

Nag tigom man gud ko ug mga articles bahin ug Karst Forest, Landscapes, animals and plants, etc. Murag sumpay siguro mi ug tina-i ani ni Ayessa.

Manay, kanang Karst, buot pasabot limestone.

for me if muadto lang sa lograita to see the spring, dili nalang ko oy....

convince me to go there again!

Para ma attract ang mga local & international tourist, ang akong idea mag organize ug week long rock concert with a theme of "nature preservation" in the middle of Raja Sikatuna Grand Stand similar to Woodstock Festival. Tourist will set up camps and tents around the stage.

The municipality will earn commissions from Travel agents & airline, rents from tents + food/beverage sales.

Kon nining lugara hatagan ug panahon sa mga local officials to make this attractive, just like in Sagbayan,  this is also a local income earning idea.

Actually Manay, the idea of "Hill Veranda" like Sagbayan Peak originated here. During 1980's they built a cement track from Logarita to the peak of Raja Sikatuna Park. There, you can see the whole town of Bilar, extending to Loboc and the old Church.

It was discouraged then, due to conflicts between military and subversive elements.

I am not sure if those tracks are still navigable as it will be easily covered by dead leaves.

Lorenzo,

My wife's late grandmother is a true bloodied Eskaya from Kabugan, Guindulman. I heared her speaking differently to her co-eskayan friend. It is not visayan but totally of different dialect.

As per the accounts of historians, these people came from the island of Sumatra and settled to Butuan and Bohol.

I heared similar story about the Kapangpangans that during the American occupation, a Kapangpangan was assigned in Sumatra and were surprised that they speak the same language.

I've also seen some articles from Ancient History that due to the raids and skermishes between Mujapahit Empire and Sri Vijayans in 14th century, many tribes in Sumatra fled to neighboring countries & teritories. Eskaya must be one of them.

Tawag ana "Manalbid".

Para dili bisto, among isulod sa disente nga sako ug among dayongan. Apan kadtong mi labang mi atbang sa UB na alanganin ug tabok akong kadayong ug may kusog nga tricycle nga nag padulong. Mao nga akong gibuhi-an ug nagkabuagsa ang mga plastic, lata, aluminum nga among pinunitan.

Unya amo dayon gi dali ug hipos ug gi baligya.

Rosamia, Mediterranean Cruises are too expensive.

Why won't you invite your family and friends to visit Bohol. We have 'Options and Concepts' to take care of your tour. Just contact Gelyan here in Tubag Bohol.

For a preview, just go to Google or Yahoo, Click Images and type Bohol and you can see what I mean.

I met some friends in WAYN, one from Fiji Island and 2 guys from UK. Last July, they travelled to the Philippines with thier families and I told them to visit the Chocolate Hills of Bohol and some diving spots.

They said it was a Blast!

They did some scuba diving and everything is very cheap.

I and everyone of us are part of this problem. We humans are similar to a von Neumann machine, devouring the Earth as we multiply.

The only possible solution to this crisis is to keep the birth rate equal to death rate.

While the cause of this dilemma is population explosion, the Bayots and Celibates are considered as heroes.

Seriously, while there is little time, we could make a big difference if we make simple changes in our lifestyle like conservation and recycling. Inform our young children that our planet is fragile and this is the only home we have. Teach them this kind of responsibility through your action.

It takes millions of years to develop a single cell. Kitang mga tao, ubos kaayo atong concept sa matter, time & space. So ang tanan nga matter sa universe is a mystery kanatong mga tao.

Infinite ang possibilities sa universe ug kon unsa kanang naa sa imong imagination karon, it actually exist in real time inside the universe.

Hehehe.

Macky,
Unsa man nang Sea Sponge? aw unsa kahay bisaya ana basin mao nay Lumot.

Among silingan naka kuha ug technique pinaagi sa itlog sa Kaka or spider.

Kini rabang Neanderthals daghan kaayong theories nga scientific ug religious. GEC,

I prepared an old age tagay material called Sadiqui. This is better than Sauvignon Cabarnet of Benne San. I learnt this through research.

It is popular during the Medieval Period and probably during the time of Christ.

It is made of plain sugar, water and yeast. Ako nang gi babad a week back and akong lotoon karong pasko pohon.

Wala man lagi baligya diri nga imnonon nga makahubog, mao nga mag imbento na lang ug tubig nga kahibolongan.

I agree between Christmas and New Year is the best time. At Christmas eve is not a good time because the internet would be crippling slow.

Gahi man diay na, murag goma.

Example daghan man kanato nga naa sa abroad, so kung dunay companya nga nangita ug for example sea weed or basket, ila dayon nga i-broadcast diri sa Tubag Bohol para kung dunay mga manggamaay ug basket mo respond dayon unya ma establish ang contact para direct export na ug dili na mo agi ug middlemen. This way, we could eliminate the middle men which is only making money without doing any effort.

Ang akong trabaho diri, International Importer ug Exporter, so kung duna kamoy pangutana kung unsa-on ang mga pamaagi sa pag import ug export, please feel free to ask on-line. I will not hesitate to give my free advise and guidance just for the sake of the Boholanos to learn Import / Export procedures and its International formalities.

5. Ang Hong Kong International Sourcing Companies Such as http://www.alibaba.com for example will sell through thier website in the internet at $2.50 per piece.

So, you see kung pila ang nakapahimolos nga mga middlemen sa kahago sa atong mga basket maker/waver?

So, kung dunay taga Tubag Bohol didto sa Norway, si Ginger for example nga naka hearing nga dunay nangita ug baskets, perhaps mo announce dayon siya diri sa TB ug kung kinsa to nga TB members nga naa sa Bohol, iya dayon nga orderon ang requirements. And then, kung ready na ang shipment, pick-upon dayon sa forwarder nga paid by the company in Norway as Ex-works terms or FOB meaning Freight on Board (ang company gihapon mo bayad ug mo arrange sa shipment).

Conclusion, instead of earning P5 per basket through various middlemen, mo earn na siya ug $2.5 per basket kay direct export na man.

Do you know nga mao ni ang nag buhi sa Hong-kong ever since separate sila sa China, even without natural resources and without skilled labours. Trading lang ang ilang gi saligan kay small island without resources & skills sila and back then, Hong-kong was the richest economy (Per capita income) in Asia before they joined back to China.

So hope you get what I mean folks.

Hoy, ajaw baja mo pagtoo nga mo lansar ko ug baranggay captain as Valencia, lingaw-lingaw ra man gajod ning aho. Bibo jamo', an?
