I was part of the security detail assigned to Imelda when she visited a corrupt Asian minister's lavish residence.

"Let's be frank," Imelda said. "I know your official salary. So, how can you afford all this?" she asked, pointing to the luxurious appointments.

The minister led Imelda to the terrace and, pointing to the horizon, asked: "Do you see those two mountains?" Imelda nodded.

"Do you see that bridge between them?" Imelda nodded again.

"Twenty percent," he explained.

A year later, Imelda hosted the same minister at her even more lavish residence. I also happened to be around.

Let's be frank," the minister said. "Given your salary, how can you afford all this, let alone your 3,000 pairs of shoes?"

Imelda led the minister to her terrace and, pointing to the horizon, asked: "See those two mountains?" The man nodded.

"Do you see that bridge between them?" The puzzled man protested: "But there's no bridge."

"Ah," Imelda replied: "One hundred percent."

Donald Trump is finally coming clean on one of the more enduring follicular mysteries of the modern age: his hair.

In an interview with Rolling Stone's Erik Hedegaard, the real estate tycoon-turned-reality star, who is considering a 2012 presidential run, offered a lengthy explanation for how exactly it is that his hair comes to look the way it does everyday.

"OK, what I do is, wash it with Head and Shoulders. I don't dry it, though. I let it dry by itself. It takes about an hour," Trump said matter-of-factly.

In the meantime, he reads the papers and watches TV, counting Fox News and "Morning Joe," among his favorites.

"I then comb my hair. Yes, I use a comb," Trump explained. "Do I comb it forward? No, I don't comb it forward."

Pushing the "flying wing of his hair back," Hedegaard wrote, the reality star revealed his hairline, which has been the subject of speculation for years.

"I actually don't have a bad hairline," he declared. "When you think about it, it's not bad. I mean, I get a lot of credit for comb-overs. But it's not really a comb-over. It's sort of a little bit forward and back. I've combed it the same way for years. Same thing, every time."

At least eight people were reported dead and dozens injured after an earthquake shook southeastern Spain on Wednesday, toppling historic buildings in the medieval town of Lorca.

By Fiona Govan and Barney Henderson 7:24PM BST 11 May 2011

The 5.2 magnitude earthquake was felt across the Murcia region, where hundreds of British expatriate live, from Alicante to Malaga and as far away as Madrid.

The epicentre was registered in the Tercia mountain range close to the town of Lorca, where several buildings were destroyed including a medieval church bell tower. It was the worst earthquake in Spain for 50 years.

Authorities confirmed that at least ten people had died, including a child of 13 years old.

Francisco Jodar, the mayor of the town said: "Unfortunately people have died as a result of cave-ins and falling debris. We're trying to find out if people have been trapped inside the collapsed houses."

Television images showed streets in the historic quarter of the town strewn with rubble and crushed cars. There were also reports that historical heritage sites as the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Huerta and several local temples had been damaged.

Way Nada,

Considering the state of the nation at the time: Communist NPA activities in the north and Muslim Terrorism in the south, the national directive of suspending of habeus corpus can be seen as a necessity at the time. Considering the fact that the country recently just crushed the HUK Rebellion in the late 50s to the 60s, the memory of communist revolution and fear thereof somewhat was accepting to the notion of suspension of habeus corpus so long as the communist threat was minimized/ mitigated.

It is easy for us to argue and debate now. Hindsight is always perfect.

I want to share my experience on how I became a General during martial law:

Ver was interviewing 57 Colonels angling for a General's star. Each aspirant was called to answer one question only:

"Colonel, how much is two plus two?" All 57 answered: four." All were told: "Wrong."

Finally, I, still a Major, walked in. "Major, how much is two plus two?" asked Ver.

"Two for you, sir and two for me," I replied.

"Correct, Colonel. Now, the President will see you."

Same question. Marcos said: "How much is two plus two?"

Now a brand new Colonel, I replied: "Simple, Mr. President. Two plus two equals four---and all for you, sir."

"Raise your right hand, General," said Marcos.

History / Samurai vs. Ninja
May 11, 2011, 04:56:45 PM
   vs.

The samurai were the knights of Japan and the masters of the katana. They were heavily armed soldiers covered in armor and willing to die for their masters. They wielded the sharpest sword the world has ever seen and it could easily slice a man in two. They were also masters of the yumi (bow) and were some of the best shots of the ancient world. They were like professional soldiers and were harshly trained and fought knowing their honor was on the line. Due to their violent habits, peasants soon rose up against them and the ninja was born.

The ninja were the masters of stealth and sabotage. They were originally peasants trained to defeat marauding samurai, but the eventually became the legendary assassins that most people think of today. They are known for using a katana-like sword, blowgun, ninja stars, and kusarigama which would be my weapon of choice. They are known for being stealthy shadow warriors of the night. They greatly feared for their ability to kill and just disappear. They were also great martial artists and underwent rigorous training.

Dion McGregor (1922â€"1994) was a New York City-born songwriter, whose main claim to fame is that he was a voluble dreamer, or somniloquist.

As a songwriter, McGregor's biggest success came when his song "Where Is The Wonder" (cowritten with roommate Michael Barr) was recorded by Barbra Streisand on her hit album My Name Is Barbra (1965). He was unable to find much success afterwards, however, and by the 1980s had given up on songwriting. Critic Joslyn Layne writes that "Despite his lack of success as a song lyricist, McGregor's narration of his vivid dreamlife provided a more unique artistic contribution than any usually recorded."

McGregor talked in his sleep. Not in quiet, barely comprehensible mumbles: while he slept, McGregor would essentially narrate his dreams at conversational volume. As a narrator of his (often terrifying) dreams, Dion adopted various personas but frequently established a fey, argumentative, insolent approach to the subject at hand â€" be it a hot air balloon trip to the moon with a group of multi-ethnic children, a frantic journey around New York, or a tattooing job on a woman's tongue.

An LP of his dream diatribes â€" The Dream World Of Dion McGregor (He Talks In His Sleep) â€" was even released to minor acclaim by Decca Records in 1964. A book of the same name, containing the transcripts of a wider selection of McGregor's dreams, and with illustrations by Edward Gorey, was also published in 1964.

McGregor died in 1994, but researcher Phil Milstein gathered recordings of McGregor's dream-speech considered too risque to be released in the 1960s and assembled them for the 1999 album, Dion McGregor Dreams Again, released on Tzadik Records. A third album, The Further Somniloquies of Dion McGregor: More Outrageous Recordings of the World's Most Renowned Sleeptalker was assembled by Toronto poet Steve Venright and released in August 2004 on the Torpor Vigil Industries label. --Wiki

A lifetime isn't long enough for the beauty of this world

#57778

When loneliness comes stalking, go into the fields, consider
the orderliness of the world. Notice
something you have never noticed before,

like the tambourine sound of the snow-cricket
whose pale green body is no longer than your thumb.

Stare hard at the hummingbird, in the summer rain,
shaking the water-sparks from its wings.

Let grief be your sister, she will whether or not.
Rise up from the stump of sorrow, and be green also,
like the diligent leaves.

A lifetime isn't long enough for the beauty of this world
and the responsibilities of your life.

Scatter your flowers over the graves, and walk away.
Be good-natured and untidy in your exuberance.

In the glare of your mind, be modest.
And beholden to what is tactile, and thrilling.

Live with the beetle, and the wind.

Irong latagaw tingale...

Atong pahinungdan og prayer ang irong latagaw...

Dear God, please send me somebody who'll care!
I'm tired of running, I'm sick with despair.
My body is aching; it's so racked with pain,
and dear God I pray, as I run in the rain.
That someone will love me and give me a home,
a warm cozy bed and a big juicy bone.

My last owner tied me all day in the yard
sometimes with no water, and God that was hard.
So I chewed my leash, and I ran away.
To rummage in garbage and live as a stray.
But now God, I'm tired and hungry and cold,
and I'm so afraid that I'll never grow old.

They've chased me with sticks and hit me with stones,
while I run the streets just looking for bones!
I'm not really bad, God, please help if you can,
or I have become just a "Victim of Man!"
I'm wormy dear God and I'm ridden with fleas,
and all that I want is an Owner to please!

If you find one for me God, I'll try to be good,
and I won't chew their shoes, and I'll do as I should.
I'll love them, protect them and try to obey....
when they tell me to sit, to lie down or to stay!
I don't think I'll make it too long on my own,
cause I'm getting so weak and I'm so all alone.

Each night as I sleep in the bushes I cry,
cause I'm so afraid God, that I'm going to die.
And I've got so much love and devotion to give,
that I should be given a new chance to Live!
So dear God, please answer my prayer,
and send me someone who will REALLY care.

about time.  usahay man god gamiton lang ang dole-outs nga puhunan para dole-ins of votes sa panahon sa elections.  tingalig duha pay mapagan ani.  undangon ang dole-out mentality, undangon sad ang continuing vote-getting mentality.

Tsk, tsk, tsk, 2013 pa ra ba ang sunod eleksyon... ;D
