10 jail personnel sacked for VIP treatment
MANILA, Philippines - With permission from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) ABS-CBN News was able to see the special quarters of former Batangas Governor Antonio Levisted in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
Leviste's old quarters was a simple-looking hut inside the NBP compound, located near a large tree and a water supply facility.
Unlike the cramped cell of common convicts in the Minimum Security Compound of the NBP, Leviste's hut is spacious, with a well-maintained toilet and bathroom. The hut also has a balcony.

The ABS-CBN News team also found things convicts normally don't have access to, like stocks of food such as cereals, and newspapers.
BuCor Director Ernesto Diokno, a former Manila police officer, said prisoners who can be trusted not to escape are given the privilege to "live out" of the regular NBP prison facilities.
"Living out" prisoners - Leviste's status prior to the incident - aren't guarded as heavily as the other prisoners.
On Thursday, Leviste was detained at the Maximum Security Compound of the NBP and, like the rest of the prisoners, he was made to wear the uniform of common convicts--the infamous orange jump suit.
Diokno said Leviste's camp has complained about his transfer to the Maximum Security Compound, but Diokno countered that this is standard practice for prisoners caught escaping from prison.
Leviste was apprehended by the NBI last Tuesday after ABS-CBN's Current Affairs program XXX tipped authorities that Leviste is able to go in and out of prison despite having been convicted of homicide.
