And here's my reason for my tagay absence:  Gabuhat ko'g wedding cakes for an Indian couple.  Di unta nko angkunon ako'y gabuhat kay arang ga amag ang ka orange sa color oi but it turned out okay so sige na lamang.  I made a 3-tiered tangerine orange cake with red borders, 8 satellite cakes and one whole full sheet cake.  Flavors:  coconut cake with strawberry filling, chocolate fudge cake with custard filling, lemon cake with cream cheese filling and the full sheet cake was white cake with fruit basket filling.  Mao ni akong hulagway excluding the sheet cake kay wa na nko na hulagwayi:

Macky, partial ni sa imong request na pictures for the cakes and cookies.  Unya na pod ang cookies! :)

We also started our Simbang Gabi lastnight.  Two Pinoy priests officiated the Simbang Gabi; one from Cagayan de Oro and the other priest from the Luzon.  It was nice as always especially when the all-Pinoy choir started to sing Pasko na Naman.  After the mass, we had a little painit of Miswa soup and puto and cookies.

The main officiating priest - the one from Cagayan de Oro delivered the sermon.  He talked about rejoicing.  He talked about hope especially that this most trying times of our lives. Material gift-giving and receiving are not the reason for celebrating Christmas.   It's the birth of our Lord Jesus who later died in the cross for our salvation.

Merry Christmas to all of you and let there be peace on earth!

It actually doesn't matter how much the maximum insurable amount is because depositors can just split their deposits into different accounts so that their money in the bank is still insured.  I haven't read though the bill proposal.

I, myself was a big fan of Dr. Juan Flavier, a diminutive and funny doctor who later became a senator.  I read his articles at the national newspaper  (was it Phil. Star or PDI?) about the Barrio Doctor.  I even bought one of his books.  Just recently, I read another book written by one who claimed to be a true blooded Bol-anon Doctor who is based in Davao.  He is Dr. Ting Tiongco.  I enjoy reading his book very much!  It makes me realize how much sacrifice they (including their families) put it to become a doctor.  Basta guys, if you have a chance, please get his book:  Surgeons Do Not Cry.

Well, it must have been humiliating for Bush to have a journalist or any man for that matter threw shoes on him.  I heard it is an ultimate show of disrespect for the Iraqis and Muslims as a whole to have somebody throw shoe on you.  And two shoes at that! I have a feeling years from now, this will be asked in Jeopardy or Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.  :D Having said that, I think the journalist showed poor judgment in doing so.  He humiliated his own country leaders more than he did to Bush.  Well, a lot of people hailed him as a hero for throwing shoes on Bush which was unthinkable that anybody can do with all the secret agents surrounding Bush.
#5654
And who says we are a poor country!  If these malls are thriving, that means people can afford to shop.

When I was still in Manila, we hired  American consultants for our water and solar projects.  I took them to Shangrila and SM Megamall which were just  stone's throw away from  our office.  We went to the Sm Megamall food court, which was just beside the skating rink.  There eyes were like this  :o.  They said, how can you have all these huge malls when you are supposed to be a poor country!  It was more of an accusation than a question.  I was taken aback alright but I said, I guess we are not really that poor!  :D

my father twice cheated to my mother but my mother still accepted him. i think what's best is you accept your fault and show remorse on what you did. hopefully women should understand that men are born polygamous. ;D

When we were growing up (and even up to now), I told colleagues that I was so sure my Dad never had another woman in his life.  And the usual question thrown to me was, how sure are you?  Well, ingon nila, if maldito ang amahan - meaning tsikboy, somehow masumbalikdaw  sa mga anak na babae.  At that time, most of us 9 girls were in our 30s and none of us ever got pregnant or married except for my police sister.  But tinud jud, Dad never had any other woman kay busy man sya mahjongan ug sa Sunday school aka buwangan. ;)

My grandfather had another woman though.  My grandma told us grandkids that Tatay Macar had other woman (or women, maybe) while working as a soldier.  One day, my grandmother received a letter from "the other" woman professing her love to my grandpa.  My grandma was one strong and feisty woman but she took the news so calmly and with grace.  She wrote back to the other woman and one thing she said that I couldn't forget what she said in her broken english, something like - thank you for loving my husband and thank you for taking care of him while I wasn't around to take care of him.

Quote from: bol-anon nga cebuano on December 15, 2008, 11:56:29 PM
what happened to the legacy group owned rural banks is a case of pyramiding scheme that uses banks as it's collateral to their clients. legacy group is practicing bad loans and bank procedures. if you do lifestyle checks on any legacy employees and agents, they all owned several properties such as houses, cars among others. where did they get the money? from their downline and commissions from bank depositors and creditors. they didn't show any emotions after news broke out of possible closure and receivership from PDIC because they all know that it's where the company and it's banks are heading long before. the case between legacy and BSP erupted sometime in june 2007 after BSP found out the irregularities and other anomalies by the mother company legay. but legacy was able to get  TRO from an RTC and BSP elevate the case to the supreme court where it took more than year to resolve. last 1st of december, supreme court announced it's ruling in favor of BSP in which legacy didn't even contest because they know they are in the losing end. and gues who reported the irregularities? it was jacinto "jack hammer" jamero who is a true bloodied bol-anon from loon. he was the previous owner of PCRB before it was purchased by Legacy. he filed several suits trying to claim back his bank but he lost the case to legacy. had he succeded in taking back PCRB, until now PCRB could have been alive and become one of the best rural bank in RP behind greenbank. PCRB's demise is a big loss to the cebuanos since it's been part of their lives since 1967 when the corporate members of this bank are the frasco's and durano's in the midnorth.

I think you are right, Ray.  I mean, I have two close relatives who are working in the Legacy Group and in a bank owned by Legacy Group and I didn't see them getting rich but how else can you explain that a million peso deposit can be doubled in 5 years!  That is way too much!

The Legacy Group and the Legacy Group-owned bank officers were called in for a meeting yesterday in Manila.  I don't know what else can they do to return the investments.  Ok lang ang sa banko kay insured man up to 250k and in most cases, gaka smart naman pod ning mga depositors na buak-buakon na nila ilang deposits para ma insured jud sa PDIC.

I think BSP should think of better ways to safeguard the deposits of the people because a failure of one bank will erode the people's trust to the whole banking system.

Bitaw, tinuod jud ingon nila Jan ug Maring Belle, daghan dire allergic ug nuts.  My husband for one.  I just even used almond extract, natingala na lang ko kay ning burot iyang simod.  Then one time, we went to this Italian Pizza Restaurant and my aunt suggested we order the calamares.  It was very good!  So crunchy.  When we went home, my husband was itching all over.  He vomited and kept itching.  He was starting to have fever.  He took a lot of anti histamine pills and got better.  We then traced what he ate and the suspect was the calamares cooked in peanut oil. No wonder crunchy kaayo!

Naa pod akong kwarta sa Legacy.

US based man gud ni nga companya mao nga mi uban sa Financial Crisis sa US.

Macks, the owner of Legacy Group is Celso delos Angeles.  He is based in Bicol region.  It's more likely than not that he invested in stocks in Wall Street which we know now that most are almost negative of value already.

Gaka panic attack ko ani na news.  My aunt in Davao works at Legacy.  She has big exposure and she also had friends invest their money in Legacy. Not only is she losing money, she will also be jobless. My aunt in CDO invested her husband's retirement unya ang interest monthly maoy gigamit for monthly consumption nila.  And now it's gone.

My cousin is president/manager of one rural bank in Cebu owned  by Legacy.  She called me this afternoon and she asked for prayer kay naa sya'y prospective buyer sa iyang bank.  She is not worried about catering the massive withdrawal these days but ga worry sya come early January kay daghan mag mature na time deposits.  Hay, grabeh kalisud jud.     All these talks about bank holidays reminded me of my own experience back then as a banker of a struggling bank.  Dili lalim gajud!  You have to face the wrath of your clients...

Thanks, Esa.  It sadden me to see news like this.  I know a lot of people put their hard-earned money in the banks only to find out that the bank is closing or in this case, has declared "bank holiday".  But I hope the depositors will not be so anxious.  Their deposits are insured with PDIC, unless their deposits are way beyond the maximum insurable amount of 250k.

My aunt who has a substantial investment with Legacy is in panic too.  I will ask my cousin who manages a rural bank in Cebu owned also by Legacy Group if there's any update in this PRB case.

We are all important to God, no matter how worthless we think we are of His love.  So what we can do is to consciously strive every time to be pleasing to Him, to make us worthy of His love.  To make us worthy of the life of Jesus Christ that gave up for our salvation.
