Hello Ricky!  First of, welcome here to Tubag Bohol.

I don't think we can access the PLDT directory thru the internet.  If you know anybody in Tagbilaran, you may want to ask for a copy of the Directory.  I thought you knew the name so I can ask somebody in Bohol to locate it for you but since you couldn't remember the name of your friend, that option is not possible.

Very Strange!!

If you watch the above images from your seat in front of the computer,
Mr.Angry is on the left, and Mrs.Calm is on the right.
Get up from your seat, and move back about eight feet!! They switch places!!
This proves that things aren't always what they look like!!

Ngek, wa lagi nag change.  Hmm, I will try again.

Hag-as, ga count jud diay ang boy ug kapila sya gi spank sa iyang papa kay ining ka thousand man kaha, mao nay last!  anyway, unbelievable that a child can do this kind of crime but it's also making me wonder how come parents didn't see this kind of violent behavior coming.  unya, asa man pod kuha ning bata ug gun without any adults knowing about it?  hay, so many questions.  So lugar, gi punggutan sa bata ang ulo sa iyang Tatay?  If this really happened, this kid must be so sick but why, oh why, wa ni nakita sa iyang mga ginikanan, that is my biggest question!

dapat manubag jud ni si delos angeles oi!  ingon, naa pa daw laing tag-iya na taga Cebu.

Ray, I don't think tinuod na agents ang employees are living like millionaires.  My aunt was working with Legacy until its collapse two weeks ago and she isn't living like a millionaire.  She is getting a fixed salary.  She had car loan which was 50% paid for by Legacy but that's what was given to me too when I was still working in a bank in Cagayan de Oro.  Ang kapait lang jud kay she had some close family and friends invest money unya karon nahanaw daw bula.  Delos Angeles promised daw to return even just the principal but I don't know if that's gonna ever happen.

General Topic / Beware Of Garbage Trucks
January 07, 2009, 03:01:52 PM

by: David J Pollay

How often do you let other people's nonsense change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee ruin your day? Unless you're the Terminator, for an
instant you're probably set back on your heels. However, the mark of a successful person is how quickly one can get back their focus on what's important.

Sixteen years ago I learned this lesson. I learned it in the back of a New York City taxi cab. Here's what happened. I hopped in a taxi, and we took off for Grand Central Station. We were driving in the right lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.
My taxi driver slammed breaks, skidded, and ,missed the other car's back end by just inches!

The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident whipped his head around and he started yelling bad words at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And i mean, he was friendly. So, i said, "why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car
and sent us to the hospital!"

And this is when my taxi driver told me what i now call, "the Law of the Garbage Truck." Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let them, they''ll dump it on you.

When someone wants to dump it on you, don't take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You'll be happy you did.

The war between the DYRD / Chronicle and City Mayor Dan Lim has more than meets the eye.

For one, it's a chicken and egg thing. I may have began when the Chronilce taunted the city mayor to do something about the drainage system that has not been that functioning as planned. On the other hand, the city mayor has been telling city residents that in no way can the Chronicle biased media bully him into opening the plugged outfall sans any nod from the proper authorities.

It was just that every rainy day, Chronicle would send all hands to the flooded homes along CPG, intentionally report on the nasty condition, and i bet, including items a reporter should not mention for courtesy of those taking their breakfasts. But the Chronicle can do that.

After DENR Sec. Lito Atienza issued a statement about the city residents not to be allowed to suffer from mistakes committed by whosoever, Dan Lim has to accede and unplug the outfall.

Now since the Chronicle has unilaterally declared war, it has to make the mayor unpopular.

So the day the drainage was opened, Chronicle reporters literally run to the water egress along Graham Street, called Atty. Dela Serna and instigated the old man to open his mouth and  let the city residents another spillage of the classic topnotch rhetorics.

But it was not as grim as what Chronicle reported.

And then just as magically, the media, now associated with the Chronicle literally pulled every trick they had to drown Lim with ant blame they can conceive for dirtying the city seas.

And the blame magically focused on Lim, not on to rhe DENR Sec which the local DENR also appeared to hmmm, ...very convenient indeed.

So the war rages and the residents who were saved from countless nigfhts of sleeping in  water beds now have to put up the signs along DBP.

Not one of these were reported.

Now, which side is right, i would rather say, in a war like this, it is not to determine which is right, it would soon be telling us, who would be left.

apothecary

thanks, apothecary, for seemingly unbiased accounting of what's going on between the Bohol Chronicle and Mayor Dan Lim.

My cousin was managing the bank owned by Legacy in Carmen diay, Ray.  She was the last woman standing and was confident that she could cater her customers and thought there was no need to close doors but PDIC padlocked her bank.  Karon, she is now helping out her clients claim their money from PDIC.

Life was good.  We were able to play hide and seek, dagan2x, syato (mao man na ba kadtong mo ingon ug hatuuuum!)  Naa mi balay-balay na gipanday sa among apohan.  Ang among bugas2x, danggay.  Among oil, gumamela na gi kuposan sa tubig.  Ang real food ra jud sa among balay2x kay butong , tisa ug buongon kay daghan to sa among nataran.  Diha man unta to nangka pero di man mi pakan-on kay makasakit daw ug tijan.  pastilan.  bantugay ra kay lami man diay kaayo!  :D Dayon, mag kotex2x dayon using that fruit sa weeds na di na nko madumduman unsay ngalan.

Dayon, mahilantan gani, dalhon dayon mi ni Mommy ila ka Mama Sinda aron tayhupan.  Mao siguro to mahuwasan kay tiaw bay lud-an ang ulo ug pakuratan dayon dayon hidhidan ug baho na lana! hahahaha

Bella,

Basin tungod pod dagway to kay TIDE man ang gina shampoo! hahaha

Yesterday, Hapon and I harvested tangerine sa among silingan.  Na smell nko ang dahon and it reminded me of the shampoo concoction sa among mga katiguwangan: kadto bitaw kunis-kunison nila ang suha sa kabo sa tubig dayon mao to ilang i rinse sa ilang ulo.  Well, ang una jud nilang shampoo kanang lubi na ilang gi ub-ub then from baba to ulo.  Sahay naa pay sapaw maong delikado gukdon ug manok! hahaha

Tricycles must be remove in Tagbilaran City, they are abusive, whenever I´m in Cogon they refuse to drive me to Booy if I´m alone, they demand a double fare. This form of transportation is obsolete, they don´t have manners especially in the companion of a foreigner, they have the tendency to think of dollars. Apeke ka sa nga kahon ug maleta ma-blackmail ka.

I feel your pain, Manay Tess.  Back then when I was still in high school in Tagbilaran, didto dapit sa Bohol Ice Plant ug Buwangan ang balay sa akong mga Lolo ug Lola, lisud jud kaayo manakayan gikan sa UB to my grandparents' house kay mo lingiw ra man ang mga drivers kon mo ingon na'g dapit sa Ice Plant.  Naay uban mo entertain pero mangutana pa lagi ug pila akong ihatag nila! Dapat unta kuhaan ni sila'g license kon di mag tarong ba kay dapat walay pili.  I don't know if pareho pa ba kay naa naman taxi karon na tawgan lang and so far mura'g wa pa man ningbalibad sa among call bisan tua mi sa Manga.

LGU Philippines / Re: The Cruelty of Pinoy Politicians
January 06, 2009, 06:48:26 AM
I had a discussion with the same topic in the egroup with my former co-bankers.  This got heated because one said that people in Manila is crying "bloody hell" just for one day of abuse as compared to the Muslim brothers in Mindanao who experience this for perhaps centuries.  I replied that Muslims should not be included in the discussion.  They just happened to be Muslims.  They are first and foremost human beings who behaved like animals who mauled a 56-year old father and 14-year old son.  And above all that, they are politicians.  They are public servants and are not supposed to be public tormentors.    And I hope, political influence by the alleged suspects will not be a factor in the investigation.

DAR exec Pangandaman asked for apology to the Dela Pazes but he added that it wasn't an admission of fault.  He further said in interviews that the Dela Pazes started the fight.  They still do not have the right to physically harm the father and son and since they did, they'll have to answer and pay for that.  They are not above the law!

Philippine Laws / I Am Filipino
January 03, 2009, 05:15:58 PM

By Alexander L. Lacson

One of the most important things we need today as a people is a beautiful way of looking at ourselves as Filipinos, a positive and healthy image of ourselves, a wonderful definition of ourselves as a people. Our children especially need to believe that there is greatness and beauty in us as a people and as a race.

So much beauty and greatness can spring from a beautiful mind and a faithful heart.

But loving ourselves as Filipinos is not only patriotism or nationalism. There is a reason higher than that. It is primarily about stewardship. It is loving what God has given us. God gave to each one of us the Filipino and the Philippines, for us to love and care for. But how is the Filipino in our hands today? How is the Philippines, the land God gave to us as a people, in our hands today?

It is for this reason that I wrote the poem below. I give this poem as my humble gift to all of you, my fellow Filipinos. You are the brothers and sisters, the family of people, God gave to me.

It is my hope that this poem will help develop in us and in our children a healthy sense of faith and love in the Filipino, in ourselves as a people. For truly, our Creator wants us to have faith in and love for the Filipino.

Here it is:

I am Filipino. I am a child of the One God who is the Creator of all that is in our world and the universe. I am as perfect and as beautiful as my Creator planned me to be, for God created me in His image, out of His perfect love.

I am a beloved child of God, like everyone else in our world, no less than the stars above or anyone else below. As such, I have equal right and claim to all the beauty and bounty that God provided in my country and in the world.

I am an equal part of the family of humanity. I am therefore a sibling to all the men and women of our world, brethren to all Christians, to all Muslims, to all Jews, to all Buddhists, and all other peoples whose faiths lie somewhere else.

I am Filipino. My Creator planted me on a specific spot on earth, where the sun always shines, in an archipelago of 7,107 wonderful islands, which the whole world calls the “Pearl of the Orient.” Pilipinas is the country God gave to me and my people. It is the birthplace of my race. It is the home of the Filipino.

The beauty and richness of my country lured many mighty powers of the world to invade our shores. So today, my blood is a mixture of the best and the finest of the West and the East. My mind is an heir to all the great thoughts of the West, and the great virtues of the East. My heart beats with the romanticism of the West and the passion of the East.

I am Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Juan Luna, Ninoy Aquino and all those who fought for our land to become a nation of free people. I am the grandeur of Banaue, the enchantment of Boracay, the serenity of Manila Bay, and the depth and breadth of Tubbataha Reef.

I am Filipino. My Creator’s plan is for me to live my life as a Filipino and therefore, in my heart and in my mind, I shall always be a Filipino wherever I may be in the world. God wants me to belong to the Filipino family and as such, I am a “kapatid” [brother] to anyone and everyone who is Filipino, wherever he or she may be on earth.

You will know me by the word “po” in my sentences. You will know my children by their “mano po.” You will know me by the smile on my face and the warmth of my hospitality. Most important of all, you will know me by my loving and caring heart when you are in need of help, even if you are a stranger.

As a child of God, my Creator has a beautiful story for me and my people. And the story we see today is but a fleeting portion of that beautiful story that has yet to fully unfold before the eyes of the world.

I am Filipino. I am who I am today because of the role God wants me to play.

I am born to succeed. God has equipped me, within me and around me, with all the essentials I need to succeed in this world. God truly wants the highest, the best, and the most beautiful for me, because I am His child.

I am destined to be great. God planted seeds of beauty and greatness in me. He truly wants me to be great and beautiful, for God truly wants me to add more beauty and greatest to our world.

I am Filipino. I am born of freedom, in a free country. As such, I dedicate my freedom to ensuring that my people and country shall always remain free. I shall use my freedom to help other peoples, in my country or in other parts of the world, gain their own freedom.

I am born of love, out of God’s immeasurable love, in a country and in a world that can only be made beautiful by love. Love is the reason why God made me. It is what He wants me to bring into this world, so love shall be who I am.

I am born as part of the whole, as part of the answer to the question, as part of the solution to the problem, as part of the hope to our people. I am born to help the Filipino become great not only in the eyes of the world but, more so, in the eyes of our Lord.

I am Filipino. I am a faithful child of God. I shall live my life to do God’s work on earth, to help build a beautiful country for my Filipino family, and a better world for all humanity. And soon the world shall see the full measure of the greatness of Filipino, for truly the world has yet to see what God can do to and through a child, like the Filipino, who is faithful to the Lord.

I am Filipino.

The week preceding Christmas, I was starting to bake cakes and candies na for our family dinner and also for our elderly neighbors and volunteers at the church kitchen.  Christmas was spent with family.  My elder sister from LA and my cousins from the Bay Area came to spend the Christmas eve with us.  We went to attend the evening mass at my aunt's parish.  After the mass, the choir where my aunt is part of it, sang beautiful Christmas songs that reminded me so much of home.  Christmas dinner on December 25 was spent with family and close friends whom we consider already as part of the family.  We were partying until 2 a.m. The day after Christmas, I was busy preparing for the Indian wedding cake.

December 31, I was busy preparing for our New Year's Eve dinner - still at my aunt's.  We bade good bye to year 2008 and welcomed 2009 with the clicking of champagne glasses and bonding with family and close friends.  We ate, danced, sang and laughed a lot until past 4 a.m.  We didn't go home anymore because we didn't want to take the chance of being stopped by highway police patrolling the streets.  New Year's day, we attended mass at 10 a.m. and we came back to my aunt's with the family who spent the night before with us.  We had brunch together of eggs and bacon and leftover sud-an from the previous night.  We came home about 2 p.m., changed and got ready to go out again with my aunt and her family to the mall and had dinner.

I had a fun-filled holidays and I hope that year 2009 will be blessed for all of us! Happy New Year again kaninyong tanan!

Thank you so much, Macks, but I still leave a lot to be desired to deserve to be called one of the finest.  However, I acknowledge that God gave me a wonderful skill to make kids and adult alike and most especially brides smile upon seeing their cakes.  Sa una, I was only wishing to be able to decorate a cake and then one day God blessed me this skill and now I can decorate already a cake!  :)
