Rite of Institution to the Ministry of Lector

As lectors, the seminiarians will proclaim the Word of God at liturgies. They now look forward in coming years to receiving the ministry of acolyte (becoming ordinary ministers of the Eucharist) and ordination as deacons before their hoped-for ordination as priests.

Are you seriously discerning, brother?
#5416
Sometimes, the best decisions are not the easiest. This is why I now understand that to consecrate oneself to a life in Holy Order is not the easiest and requires the Grace of God to sustain the soul. This is why those who do accept a Holy life, truly, are superhuman. But, with the Aid of God, even these difficult decisions in life can be as light as a feather. He will provide, and He will make a way possible....

Our Lady of the Divine Commission,
Mother of the Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour,
You were created as the New Eve, the doorway
To the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies.
Your fiat to the Divine calling as the handmaid of the Lord [Lk 1:38]
Raised you to become the mother of God in the human nature.
Consequently, in the fullness of time,
You gave birth to the Son of God. [Gal. 4:4]
Your love and protection of the Child Jesus
Made you a living example to parents,
And a model of purity to teenagers.
You stood by your Son during His crucifixion and death,
Persevering afterwards during the foundation of the Church,
Until such time as you were taken to Heaven.
Thus you became the mother of the Catholic Church.
Through your words, the Holy Spirit foretold
That all generations would call you blessed. [Lk. 1:48]
From the Heavenly Throne,
You were commissioned to make yourself known worldwide.
You have revealed the Marian Sacramentals,
The Miraculous Medal, the Rosary and the Scapular
As spiritual weapons against the forces of evil.
You made known your fame on many continents,
Securing Europe against the Turkish invasion,
Appearing to shepherd children in many lands,
And revealing yourself as Our Lady of Guadalupe.
O Queen of all creations, refuge of sinners
Mother of mercy, health of the sick
Comfort of the troubled of all ages,
I come to you on my knees,
Seeking your powerful intercession before God.
With the promise to make known to the world
That you have obtained for me a special grace,
I ask this special favour of you.

[State your intention here...]

O Mary, blessed be your most Holy Name.
May the world come to know you
As Our Lady of the Divine Commission,
A title that you well deserve now and forever.

#5421
Say the following Novena for 9 days in a row, each time asking Our Lady of the Divine Commission for the special favour that you seek through her intercession.

This Novena requires that you publish (by contacting this website) answered prayers in order to promote the most powerful title of "Our Lady of the Divine Commission." No request is impossible under this Marian title that embraces all of the Virgin Mary's life, her spiritual work, her intercession and her endless titles.

The posted "Answered prayers" must be favors obtained of a supernatural nature (miraculous), something that goes beyond the normal or natural course.

CONCLUSION:

After the above prayers and intentions, say the Memorare.

Remember, O most Gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help
or sought thy intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of Virgins,
my mother.
To thee do I cry,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

Hail Mary...

Blessed and praised be
the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar,
in Heaven, on earth and everywhere.

AMEN.

"Hail, Holy Queen,
Mother of Mercy,
our life, our sweetness and our hope!
To thee do we cry,
poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy towards us;
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb Jesus.
O clement, O loving,
O sweet Virgin Mary. Amen."

V - Pray for us, most holy mother of God.
R - That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

"Virgin of the Incarnation,
a thousand times we greet thee,
a thousand times we praise thee
for thy joy when God was incarnated in thee.
Because thou art so powerful
a Virgin and Mother of God,
grant what we ask of thee for the love of God."

Here state your first intention.
Repeat all of above and then state your second intention.
Repeat all of above and then state your third intention.

This is a beautiful and powerful chaplet! ;)
#5426
On the 5 "Our Father" beads, pray:

"See where Thy boundless Love has reached,
my loving Jesus!
Thou of Thy Flesh and Precious Blood
hast made ready for me
a banquet whereby to give me all Thyself.
Who drove Thee to this excess of love for me?
Thy Heart, Thy loving Heart!
O adorable Heart of Jesus,
burning furnace of Divine Love!
Within Thy Sacred Wounds take Thou my soul,
in order that,
in that school of charity,
I may learn to love that God
Who hast given me such wondrous proofs
of His great love."

Amen.

On the (5 x 10) "Hail Mary" beads, pray:

"Sacred Heart of Jesus,
I trust in Thee!"
#5427
How to pray the Chaplet to obtain a Great Confidence

This devotion is prayed on the popular 59 beads Marian Rosary.
#5428
At the end of the last decade of the chaplet, say:

"Most blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother of God,
intercede for us,
for the forgiveness of our sins,
peace and eternal salvation
from your loving Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ,
the only Son of the Living God,
and we praise you,
we bless His name now and forever."

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.

Amen.
#5429
At the end of each decade (10 beads), instead of the "Glory be to the Father," say:

"Most Blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother of God,
intercede for us."
#5430
On all of the "Hail Mary" beads, instead of the "Hail Mary," say:

"Holy God, Holy Mighty One,
Holy Immortal One,
have mercy on us."
#5431
On all of the "Our Father" beads, instead of the "Our Father," say:

"Merciful Jesus, our Redeemer,
You said, "ask and you shall receive."
We humbly ask You to hear our prayer,
forgive us our sins
and grant us Your peace and salvation.
We praise You now and forever."

Amen.
#5432
Begin by blessing yourself and kissing the Crucifix. Looking at the crucifix, say:

"Lord Jesus, we believe in You
as You are the Son of Mary
and the Son of the Living God,
Creator and Redeemer.
You came from heaven to earth
to save all mankind.
You are the Savior of the World.
You taught us to pray:
'Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
now and forever.

Amen.'"

How to pray the Chaplet of Mercy and Forgiveness

This devotion may be prayed on the regular Marian Rosary of 59 beads.

History: This chaplet was composed by Chorbishop Joseph Saidi of Worcester, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Father Saidi was the pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Maronite Catholic Church from 1947 until his retirement in August 1977.

O Immaculate, Queen of Heaven and Earth,
refuge of sinners and our most loving Mother,
to whom there has been confided by God
the whole order of Mercy:
I prostrate myself before Thee,
poor sinner that I am,
and I supplicate Thee humbly
to accept my entire being as your property and possession,
and to do with me
and with all the faculties of my soul and body,
with my entire life,
my death and my eternity,
whatsoever may please Thee.
Do with me as Thou would,
so as to realize what is written of Thee:
“She shall crush your head;” and again:
“Through Thee alone have all the heresies of the world been vanquished.”
May I be in Thy immaculate and most merciful hands
a docile instrument to make Thee known and loved
by so many tepid and mislead souls,
and thus advance in the greatest manner possible
the most holy Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
For in truth, where Thou hast gained entrance,
Thou dost obtain the grace
of the conversion and sanctification of souls,
since all the graces,
passing through Thy hands,
gush upon all of us from the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Amen.

Act of Consecration to St. Raphael the Archangel

Holy Archangel Raphael,
standing so close to the throne of God
and offering Him our prayers,
I venerate you as God's special Friend and Messenger.
I choose you as my Patron
and wish to love and obey you as young Tobias did.
I consecrate to you my body and soul,
all my work, and my whole life.
I want you to be my Guide and Counsellor
in all the dangerous and difficult problems
and decisions of my life.

Remember, dearest Saint Raphael,
that the grace of God preserved you with the good angels in heaven
when the proud ones were cast into hell.
I entreat you, therefore,
to help me in my struggle against the world,
the flesh, and the devil.
Defend me from all dangers
and every occasion of sin.
Direct me always in the way of peace, safety, and salvation.
Offer my prayers to God as you offered those of Tobias,
so that through your intercession
I may obtain the graces necessary for the salvation of my soul.
Remember me and always entreat for me
before the Face of the Son of God.
Help me to love and serve my God faithfully,
to die in His grace,
and finally to merit to join you
in seeing and praising God forever in heaven.

Amen.

Act of Consecration to St. Michael the Archangel

Oh most Noble Prince of the Angelic Hierarchies
valorous warrior of Almighty God,
and zealous lover of His glory,
terror of the rebellious angels,
and love and delight of all the just ones,
my beloved Archangel Saint Michael,
desiring to be numbered among your devoted servants,
I, today offer and consecrate myself to you,
and place myself, my family,
and all I possess under your most powerful protection.

I entreat you not to look at how little, I,
as your servant have to offer,
being only a wretched sinner,
but to gaze, rather,
with favorable eve at the heartfelt affection
with which this offering is made,
and remember that if from this day onward
I am under your patronage,
you must during all my life assist me,
and procure for me the pardon of my many grievous offenses, and sins,
the grace to love with all my heart my God,
my dear Saviour Jesus and my Sweet Mother Mary,
and obtain for me all the help necessary to arrive to my crown of glory.

Defend me always from my spiritual enemies,
particularly in the last moments of my life.

Come then oh Glorious Prince and succour me in my last struggle,
and with your powerful weapon
cast far from me into the infernal abysses that prevaricator and proud angel
that one day you prostrated in the celestial battle.

Saint Michael, defend us in our daily battle
so that we may not perish in the last Judgement.

Consecration of the Sick to Mary

PRAYER OF POPE PIUS XII

O kind and good Mother,
whose own soul was pierced by the sword of sorrow,
look upon us while,
in our sickness,
we arraign ourselves beside you
on the Calvary where your Jesus hangs.

Dowered with the high grace of suffering,
and hopeful of fulfilling in our own flesh
what is wanting in our sharing of Christ's passion,
on behalf of his Mystical Body, the Church,
we consecrate to you ourselves and our pain.
We pray that you will place them
on that Altar of the Cross to which Jesus is affixed.
May they be little victims of propitiation for our salvation,
for the salvation of all peoples.

O Mother of Sorrows,
accept this consecration.
Strengthen our hopeful hearts,
that as partakers of Christ's sufferings
we may also share in his comfort now and for evermore.

Amen.

Sacred Heart of Jesus,
You made clear to Saint Margaret Mary Your desire of being King in Christian families.
We today wish to proclaim Your most complete kingly dominion over our own family.
We want to live in the future with Your life.
We want to cause to flourish in our midst those virtues
to which You have promised peace here below.
We want to banish far from us the spirit of the world which You have cursed.
You shall be King over our minds in the simplicity of our faith,
and over our hearts by the wholehearted love with which they shall burn for You,
the flame of which we will keep alive by the frequent reception of Your Divine Eucharist.
Be so kind, O Divine Heart,
as to preside over our assemblings,
to bless our enterprises,
both spiritual and temporal,
to dispel our cares,
to sanctify our joys,
and to alleviate our sufferings.
If ever one or other of us should have the misfortune to afflict You,
remind him, O Heart of Jesus,
that You are good and merciful to the penitent sinner.
And when the hour of separation strikes,
when death shall come to cast mourning into our midst,
we will all, both those who go and those who stay,
be submissive to Your eternal decrees.
We shall console ourselves with the thought
that a day will come when the entire family,
reunited in heaven,
can sing forever Your glories and Your mercies.
May the Immaculate Heart of Mary
and the glorious patriarch Saint Joseph
present this consecration to You,
and keep it in our minds all the days of our life.
All glory to the Heart of Jesus,
our King and our Father!

[Indulgenced May 19, 1908.
Prescribed for the ceremony of Consecration, March 1, 1918.
A Plenary Indulgence may be gained by the members of the family on the day of consecration,
and every year on the day of renewal, under the usual conditions.]

O Jesus, our most loving Redeemer,
Who didst come into the world
to enlighten it by Thy teaching and by Thy example,
and Who didst will to pass the greater part of Thy mortal life
in the poor cottage at Nazareth,
in humble subjection to Mary and Joseph,
thus sanctifying that Family
which was to be the model of all Christian families;
graciously receive this family
which dedicates and consecrates itself to Thee this day.
Do Thou protect us,
do Thou watch over us!
Do Thou bestow upon us Thy holy fear,
peace, concord, and Christian love;
that so, by the imitation of Thy family
as our pattern and model,
we may each and all obtain everlasting happiness.

O Mary, loving Mother of Jesus and our Mother,
by thy gracious intercession
make this humble dedication acceptable to Jesus
and obtain for us His graces and blessings.

Saint Joseph,
holy guardian of Jesus and Mary,
assist us by thy prayers in all our spiritual and temporal necessities;
so that, with Mary and with thee,
we may for all eternity bless
and thank our Divine Redeemer, Jesus.

Amen.

Lord Jesus, our Savior,
You showed Your love for the sick
by Your concern for them.
Help us to see You and serve You in the sick.

Bless + these men and women
who are dedicated to helping and healing the sick.
Guide them in their labours,
and give them a greater share in Your love.
Reward their service
by the peace and joy of Your Holy Spirit,
and by the everlasting happiness of Heaven.

Lord Jesus,
we praise You,
for You are our Lord for ever and ever.

Amen.

In addition to this important witness, the deacon is distinct in his secular vocation. Often engaged in works of social justice or charity, he is a clergyman in the midst of the secular world. He goes from the altar to the world in a prophetic way, bringing Christ to those for whom He gave His life- and continues to reach out to -through Hid Body on earth, the Church.

The deacon also engages in the "New Evangelization" which the late Servant of God Pope John Paul II emphasized as an essential task for all members of the Church at this critical point in human history. Deacons do so in a unique way. They are an order of clergy in the midst of the world. They go from the altar and the ambo into the streets.

The decision for marriage or celibacy is to be made before ordination to the order of deacon. This is the ancient practice. If a married deacon loses his wife, he pledges to remain celibate. In fact, he could then consider a further call to priesthood if the Lord so moved him and the Church invited him. This has already been demonstrated in the lived experience of the renewed diaconate in the western Church.

The married deacon and his wife are to "show how the obligations of family life, work and ministry can be harmonized in the Church's mission”. Deacons and their wives and children can be "a great encouragement to others who are working to promote family life," according to these Vatican documents.

Bible Study / Re: The Diaconate
May 28, 2013, 05:24:09 AM
They also are called in these documents to link their love for the Lord and His Church to a special love for the Blessed Virgin Mary, who in her “Fiat” represents the full surrender of love to the invitation of God.

Since most deacons are married and have children, they are called to demonstrate the grace of the Sacrament of Marriage and the holiness of a consecrated family life. They are called to “give clear witness to the sanctity of marriage and family."

The wives of permanent deacons are called to support the ordained ministry of their husbands. As "The Directory for the Ministry and Life of Permanent Deacons" states, "The more they [deacon and wife] grow in mutual love, the greater their dedication to their children and the more significant their example for the Christian community"

The married deacon makes a unique contribution to the renewal of Christian marriage and family life. At a time when the Church has so strongly emphasized the role of the "Christian Family in the Modern World," of one of John Paul’s wonderful encyclicals.

The married deacon also serves as an example of married clergy in the Western Church. In the Eastern Churches, the ancient practice of calling married men, even to the order of priest, remains in tact, in most places.

The married deacon is challenged to a life of faith, fidelity and example in the married state. His example of clerical service in the married state does not detract from the prophetic and wonderful witness of consecrated celibacy; it is complementary. It is also a way of sanctification for him and witness for those whom he serves.

Because they receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders, deacons are sent by Christ to serve God's people. They are called to do so out of the depths of an interior life centered in the Eucharist, and fueled by a life of prayer, which proceeds into action. Like other clerics, they recite the Divine Office and cultivate the habit of penance.

"The deacon does not celebrate the mystery; rather, he effectively represents on the one hand, the people of God, and specifically, helps them to unite their lives to the offering of Christ; while on the other, in the name of Christ himself, he helps the church to participate in the fruits of that sacrifice," according to the declaration.

The deacon teaches the Word of God, sanctifies through the sacraments, and helps lead the community in its religious life. He assists at the altar, distributes the Eucharist as an ordinary minister, blesses marriages, presides over funerals, proclaims the Gospel and preaches, administers viaticum to the sick, and leads Sunday celebrations in the absence of a priest.

For men who are interested in the role of the Deacon:

He is ordained to the first rank of sacred orders, not to the priesthood or the episcopacy. He is no longer a layman, but a member of the clergy. Like other clerics, the deacon participates in the threefold ministry of Jesus Christ; the "diaconia of the liturgy, the word, and of charity.” He represents “Christ the Servant” in his vocation.

Balong,

The same way how Mormonism has over 20 million adherents, despite it not being an actual Christian denomination. But, brother, their religion preaches a defensive and offensive tactic in always trying to put down the One, Holy, Apostolic, Roman Catholic Church. Despite the best of their tactics, 80% of the Philippines belong to the Roman Catholic Church. What is 10 million INC members compared to 1.2 Billion Roman Catholics? May the Holy Mother Church EVANGELIZE further so that more are saved through the Church's Salvific Mission!

Iglesia ni "cristo" is the modern day Arianism. They reject the divinity of Jesus, demoting him to just being a human being, though according to them they accept Jesus as Savior of Humanity.

They base their low Christology on Hosea 11:9 which says "I am God, and not man". They supported it with verses from John 13:16 which says, "a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him."

According to the Manalonians (or members of INC), the phrase in John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD." - AND THE WORD (Logos) WAS GOD does not prove Jesus as God because, the word "God" in that phrase is not a noun but an adjective - which could mean, "like God, with God-like qualities"...

The problem with that proposition is that, historically, the development of the Logos philosophy tells us otherwise....for the Jewish philosophy, Logos itself is God's very extension. In fact, those who translated the Hebrew Bible into Aramaic (Targum) even go farther...to consider Logos itself as God.

St. John's Logos was probably influenced by the Logos Philosophy, that is why many Biblical scholars considers John's Christology as High Christology.

His Gospel begins with acknowledging that the Word was God and it ends with another confession on John 20:24-31, "ho kurios mou kai ho theos mou" - My Lord and my God. According to the commentary on New American Bible, "My Lord and my God: this forms a literary inclusion with the first verse of the gospel: "and the Word was God."

Another strong evidence of Jesus divinity, is the Book of Revelation which obviously confesses that Jesus is true God: in Revelations 1:8, John wrote, "'I am the Alpha and the Omega,' says the LORD GOD, 'the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty.'" and on John 1:17-18, "When I caught sight of him, I fell down at his feet as though dead. He touched me with his right hand and said, 'Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last, the one who lives. Once I was dead, but now I am alive forever and ever. I hold the keys to death and the netherworld'"

INC claims that it was the Council of Niceae which made Jesus as God...but again, this is not true because even Pliny the Younger (governor and persecutor of Christians in 112 A.D.) reported that Early Christians worship Jesus as God. He wrote to Emperor Trajan, "They [Christians] were in the habit of meeting on a certain fixed day before it was light, when they sang in alternate verses a hymn to Christ, as to A GOD, and bound themselves by a solemn oath, not to do any wicked deeds…"

By Biblical exegesis or by Church history, evidence is against the belief of INC that Jesus is mere human. Felix Manalo is the one who is mere human, but they elevated him to being an "Angel".

Let's not take His Holiness' words out of context. Yes, the Love of God in Jesus Christ is the manifestation of God's Undying Love and Compassion for all mankind. God wishes all mankind to be saved. In the end, it is God Alone who will judge the the souls of everyone during the resurrection. We render to God what is God's right to do and that is Justice and Judgment.

May God Have Mercy on all of us !!

Most importantly, may God have mercy on the holy dead in purgatory !!

Let us pray for them now, for when it is our turn, those prayers will aid us in our purification.

Bible Study / Strength for a Friend
May 27, 2013, 04:30:30 PM
Lord, I come before you today knowing that all power is in Your hand. I know that you are the Lord and that you care for your people.

Right now, my friend is struggling with a difficult trial. I can see her strength is faltering, Lord, and know that you have all of the strength that she needs.
I pray that you will reach down and touch her right now wherever she is at this moment. Let your presence fill the room where she is and let her feel an extra portion of your strength that can help her to get through this day.

She needs you now, Lord, and I thank you in advance for meeting her where she is and shoring up her strength during this difficult time.
In Jesus name. Amen.

To be Grateful
Lord God, may we be grateful for our lot,
and compassionate toward all those who are
suffering every kind of distress at this
difficult time.

May we hold back nothing, and
hasten to be the ministers of prayer and mercy,
like the disciples of Him who went about doing
good in times of need.

Amen

Dear St. Anthony, your prayers obtained miracles during your lifetime. You still seem to move at ease in the realm of minor and major miracles. St. Anthony, Performer of Miracles, please obtain for me the blessings God holds in reserve who serve Him. Pray that I may be worthy of the promises my Lord Jesus attaches to confident prayer. (Mention your special intentions.)

Dear St. Anthony, comforting the sorrowful is a Christian duty and a work of mercy. By word, attitude, and deed I should try to brighten their days and make their burden easier to bear. St. Anthony, Consoler of the Afflicted, may I remember when helping someone in sorrow that I am helping Christ Himself. Kindly mention my pressing needs to Him. (Name you special intentions).

A special prayer intention for our friend and sister in Christ, Isles. Another special intention for Isles' sister. For all who are sick and whose friends and relatives are also sick.

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give your angels charge over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
And for all your love's sake.

Amen.

Thank you for the prayers, Vincent. Please continue to pray for me and I shall do the same for you. May God bless you always, Vincent. :)

Nonverbal Communication    Minute Meditations
Disrespect comes with many faces. Sometimes what’s unspoken speaks louder than any words.

Aggression, Anger, Avarice, Hatred, all of these are sins and should be repented of. In fact, these sins, if habitual, interferes with God's Grace! This is why everyone, and I mean everyone, should regularly receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

So you have parted ways with the love of you life Bro? Great! In God's will.

Yes, I have, bro. I will always love her and my heart will care for her and continue to pray for her. I will always ask the Merciful Heart of Jesus that she finds happiness and Love. Sometimes, bro, the hardest thing is to let go. It took dependence on the Holy Spirit to help me heal the loss and to accept the best decision.

I have learned to accept..to TRULY accept and DEPEND on God's Providence.

It's quite liberating, actually. :)

God Bless you, Bro.

Charity

This ministry of love and justice is the heart of the diaconate. In St. Louis, nearly 200 deacons serving in parishes also are involved as hospital and prison chaplains, assist the homeless on the streets and in soup kitchens, minister to the divorced and widowed, advance pro-life causes, and counsel and serve, particularly those who are on the margins of society.

The deacon's response is not to move away from the secular world, but to become more involved in it. His daily dress is not different, but his manner of living demonstrates a caring for others and a living expression of the gospel of Jesus.

Word

The deacon proclaims the Gospel, the Good News. After further study he may receive from his bishop the faculty or authority to preach. His reading of the gospel in Church is only one aspect of proclaiming the word of God. The deacon endeavors to turn the Word into deed in his daily life.

Liturgy

The deacon assists the priest at Mass. He may administer the sacrament of Baptism, witness and bless marriages, officiate at funerals and burial services, minister at the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and preside at Communion liturgies where a priest is not present. This service at the altar is a sign and symbol of the Church's commitment to those in the parish and the community.

Ministry of the Deacon

The diaconate had its origin in the first century when the early Church was being established and a need for catechesis and service to others was recognized. After flourishing for 400 years, the diaconate declined and became little more than a transitional step to priesthood. The Second Vatican Council, held 1962-65, restored this ministry of service to its original purpose.

Deacons share in the sacrament of Orders with bishops and priests. In the United States, there are more than 13,000 deacons serving primarily in parishes. The work of the deacon is defined as ministry of Liturgy, Word and Charity.

In the Catholic Church, the diaconate is the first of three ranks in ordained ministry. Deacons preparing for the priesthood are transitional deacons. Those not planning to be ordained priests are called permanent deacons. Married men may be ordained permanent deacons, and single men may be ordained with a commitment to celibacy.

The  United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Secretariat of Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations supports the activities of the bishops' Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life, and Vocations in the restoration of the Diaconate and the development of diaconal ministry. It also assists and coordinates the development of diaconal formation programs on the diocesan and national levels. The secretariat assists the General Secretary of the USCCB in responding to all matters concerning the ministry of deacons in the Church in the United States. It provides services and liaison support to national organizations and directors of diocesan diaconate offices.

Well, its a lot clearer now that I am single. ;D

After completing my Ph.D, bro, I seriously am thinking about joining the Diaconate.

If it is God's plan for me, then, I will consider joining the Royal Priesthood.

All by God's will, bro...by His will...
