Bible Study / Re: Relationship with Santo Nino de Cebu

A Holy Prayer to the Blessed Santo Nino de Cebu

PRAYER TO SANTO NINO
O Senor Santo Nino, you are our king and our God, we worship you. You are our strong defender, we turn to you. You are the patron of Cebu, the Philippines and the world, we come to you; You have made extraordinary wonders through your miraculous image in those chosen islands, remember us. Look down at this poor soul that comes to you for help. Lead us with Your wisdom; discipline us with your truth; console us with your tenderness, protect us with your might.

We consecrate today our thoughts of you, only with you shall they be occupied; our words, only of you shall they speak; our sufferings, that we may endure them for your sake. We beg you Senor Santo Nino, illumine our understanding, kindle our will, cleanse our body, sanctify our soul. We wish what you wish, because you wish, as you wish, as long as you wish.

Grant us, Senor Santo Nino, that we may feel love toward you, be strict toward ourselves be zealous toward our fellowmen, and rightly despise the things of the world. Help us to overcome sensuality with strict discipline, avariciousness with generosity, anger with gentleness, indolence with zealous industry. Make us wise in counsel, courageous in danger, patient in adversity, humble in prosperity.

Teach us, dear Santo Nino, how worthless is the world, how sublime is heaven, how brief is time, how long is eternity. Grant us, lastly, that we may remember you, adore you, love you and serve you here on earth that we may be happy with you forever and ever in heaven.

Amen
----------

DIVINE SUPPLICATION TO THE MIRACULOUS SANTO NINO DE CEBU

O Santo Nino, who has said, "ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you," Give we beseech you, to us who ask the gift of your divine love, that we may love you with our whole heart, in word and work, and never cease from showing forth your praise.

Make us, O Lord, to have a perpetual fear and love of Your Holy Name, for you never fail to govern them whom you do solidly establish in Your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Verse 1
One day to these Islands. as gift and in pledge God sent you to us, o beloved Child And always you have been, the light of our souls The guide of our people, the flame in our hearts.
Chorus:
Senor Santo Nino, with your scepter guide our people, Who hail you king forever, the World is your Kingdom, Senor Santo Nino, in Your hands the world find its rest; Proclaim your truth and justice, bring to men Your peace and love.

Verse 2
The ship You were sailing, arrived at our shores To conquer this land, the pearl of the seas; But you had decided, to stay in this soil To conquer our people, and give us a name

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse 3
The queen and the rajah, accepting the faith, Received you in their arms, and fell on their knees They welcomed your presence, and called on your name To ask for your blessings, and help in their needs.

(Repeat Chorus) Verse 4

More ships in the Orient, with soldiers arrived; And searching for gold, they found you instead; Legaspi, Urdaneta, the Rajah, the Queen; Their subjects our people, proclaimed you their king.

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse 5
Now one as nation, we pay You respect Our people did pledge, a long time ago; We ask You to hear the prayers of all; The sad and forsaken, the poor and the sick.

(Repeat Chorus)

CONCLUDING PRAYER

O miraculous Santo Nino prostrate before your sacred Image, we beseech you to cast a merciful look on our troubled hearts. Let Your tender love, so inclined to pity, be softened at our prayers, and grant us that grace for which we ardently implore you. Take from us all unbearable affliction and despair. For your sacred infancy's sake hear our prayers and send us consolation and aid that we may praise you, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.

The Jews are very blessed people...sometimes I wonder if the Lord loves us as much as the Jewish people. They are very lucky..to be his CHOSEN race, he delivered them from bondage in Egypt, gave them kings, prophets. The Lord is Kind to them---after 2000 years after being scattered from Judea by the Romans, the LORD provided them with a home in Israel.

The fact that the Jews survived and rebounded after over 12 million of them were killed by Hitler----is a sign of that relationship.

No other people experienced so much hardship---yet given blessings upon blessings by the Almighty.
No one.

Do you know that GQ celebrates it's 50'th Year yesterday?

I subscribed "National Geographic Magazine" a long time back, but since I got a free National Geographic Channel from the cable network, I stopped the subscription.

Really? I didnt know that, Macky. I like their clothing lines in those pages--but alas, it is beyond my financial means to ever buy any of their brands, :(

Do you subscribe to any Filipino magazines?
Btw, did you say that you know my uncle, Ray?

Tinuud jud na, pre. They are very influential people---they have a strong influence in media and the economy and politics too. The Jewish people are always...very influential..even in Europe before the massacre Hitler initiated. And it is true jud, kai imagine..over 12 million of them were killed by the Nazis, ning balik sila sa ilang homeland sa Israel--the land of David, Abraham, Isaac, Noah, and Jesus. Ning fight sila against so many countries in the arab-israeli wars...and they always WIN. Tinuud jud na..mo believe jud ko..that they are HIS chosen people. He led them from Egypt...from bondage and misery---he swallowed Pharaoh's chariots because they would not let them go. And he provided them a home agian in Israel--after 2000 y ears of being absent from that land. Mo believe jud ko ana...

Also, why do you think the US is always pro-Israel. Because Jewish people have big influence in American policy.

oo..kay he died for their sins, for the sins of the world. Loving and forgiving gyud na ang ginoo---that he died for us. Kanang jews..they are still waiting for their messiah. Pero..the jews are HIS chosen people jud. Ang christiano ug muslim, we are only one of the gentiles---the WORD came to us (the Holy Bible for us and the Holy Q'uran for the Muslims). September 20, 2007, 03:01:50 AM
Ah both places, jud, pero it is in Rome/Vatican where His Holiness, Pope Peter the Great, built the Holy Catholic Church, pre.

Miracle jud na oi..kai imagine ka...si Jesus Christ was crucified by the Romans...the pagan romans. And si Peter, after namatay si Lord Jesus Christ, ning adto siya sa Rome. He went to the very city, the capital of the greatest empire in the west--and a pagan empire at that. Na crucified daghang ang christiano didto..by the thousands by the Emperors...but in 100-150 years, Christianity blossomed in that city. In 2 centuries, the very faith that was attacked by the romans took over the city..when Emperor Constantine himself said he saw a cross in the battle field...and had a premonition that God was with him. He won the battle where he saw the cross--and immediately after that, he declared Christianity the state religion of the Roman Empire.

Like a blossoming flower...you know. The Roman Empire was conquored by christianity not by the sword...but by the miraculous power of faith...and in GOD. That is why we visit Rome and Vatican, bcuz it is the place where Saint Peter died...

Luuy jud ang story ni peter...you know. When he was caught by Nero's forces...he was preaching the gospel in the catacombs of Rome...and when the romans sentenced him to death by crucifix, ning ingoon si Peter to the Romans:

"Please, crucify me upside down, for I am not worthy to die as the same manner as my Lord, Christ Jesus."
...Blessed jud na si St. Peter. Ning ingoon gud si Jesus nija, "You are Peter, and upon this rock i will build my church." And it was so! Blessed is the Lord oi. Ning build jud ang Catholic church--and it spread to all corners of the world. Europe, Africa, North America, South America, Asia (esp. sa pilipinas, the only catholic/christian nation in asia). What the Lord said to Peter...came true. And blessed jud na who maintains his/her faith oi.

Amen

Mr. Jun Ayag, what I do in life is nothing and pales in comparison to what you, my fellow kababayans are able to do. To have that gut motivation to work abroad---and away from your loved ones, friends, families, for such an extended period of time. So that you can provide sustenance and income for family back home in the Philippines. To me, that is the ultimate sacrifice, and anything I do in my life will never ever be as great as that. The Filipina who goes to Europe to work as a domestic worker--and stays there for several months--so she can provide for her family back in the Pilipinas---to me, is humbling and very inspiring. I hear alot of that from the stories what my mum and aunties tell me---and it really does put you back into reality. I would like to someday have that kind of DEDICATION to family and life--as you guys do. You, my Boholano compatriots of TB, are abroad working--

You all should be praised by the children of OFWs, such as myself, for the hard work, and sacrifice you made to provide a better life for your children etc. To me.........that in itself is very powerful.

Regards, Mr. Jun Aag.

Good morning guys!!

Today is a great day, its really sunny and warm outside. So much to better my day is that I finally got a response from the University of Sint Eustatius College of Medicine (School of physicians and surgeons), I was given acceptance and offered a seat for Fall of 2008. What really makes me happier is that I was admitted to their 6 year M.D/Ph.D program. :) :) :) :)

Looking forward to other results before I make my final decision.

The word citizen is a powerful word. It is a person who is part of a group, a nation, a policy, a provincia, a state. A person who is entitled with universal and unalienable rights to peace, prosperity, life, and the pursuit of happiness. A citizen is one who is most supreme in any society; he or she begets laws, begets policy, through the power of his vote. A citizen can rise to any pedestal: law enforcement, attorney, physician, law maker, religious leader, educator, engineer, etc. A citizen is a member of the masses, and by that right, an essence of an entire nation, political state.

The citizen has the power to bring down the greatest and most powerful of any form of government, be it an autocratic monarchical state, a socialist communist state, even a dictatorial republic.

The citizen and the will of the people are ONE.

There is something about the desert that is very calming. This picture:

looks really peaceful. As if the Lord was in it, in a way. I feel at peace when I look at that photo.

Just came back from a nice swim in the gym pool. Was fun, but didnt like to have to share a lane with an older lady---cuz the swim team were practicing at the same time. I feel refreshed and really energetic tonight.

Now to get some work done..

hahaha that is true, age is only but a number. It is a person's character that dictates whether he or she is 'mature' or not. Some young people out there are very mature for their age, while there are people well into their 40s and 50s that are still immature. Based from my experiences.

Another:

To secure your political dynasty, you might want to befriend powerful friends in other countries. Your government's legitimacy to rule will be further strengthened if you have the backings and support of powerful nation states such as: The United States, Peoples Republic of China, Russian Federation, Union of India, ASEAN, EU, etc.

Also,

Modernize and strengthen the power of your Armed Forces and secure their undying loyalty to your commands. Foreign states will be disauded to go to war with your dynasty (or civil insurgents) for fear of immediate retribution by the Armed Forces. I recommend that you rally and create a powerful naval force, and a capable air force. An army/ground force of ~500,000 units (and reserves) would properly secure your political dynasty.

++++++

Question to Gec,

Are you looking to install a democratic/ republican form of a political dynasty? Or are you looking to install an Imperialistic/Monarchical dynasty??

If so..what would the name of the new nation state/ kingdom/empire be?

My recommendations are: The Federal Republic of Philippines (this also includes the state of Sabah, after your dynasty takes it back from Malaysia) ;)

Or after you unify Malaysia and Indonesia with the Philippines, you could install an Imperialist regime and have yourself enthroned as Emperor of the : Empire of Greater Malayapura

Descendants of one of his sisters.

You'll see a lot of Rizal's letters, some mga love letters niya sa iyang mga chicks...

You'll also see his clothes. Mubo ra man diay si Rizal. Looking at his clothes, he can't be more than 5 feet tall.

But what he lacked in height, he compensated for with his extraordinary intellect. They say he spoke 22 languages fluently, that's just so amazing to me.

....ah it is so very romantic! I've written so many papers on Rizal and reading about him from western academians praising him and reading the interpreted version of El Filibusterismo and Noli Mi Tangere...it really makes my spine tingle. Its almost crazy because the image I have of the man is like...almost a divine one. To me, i cant help but see him as a christ-like figure, he died for his people--and faithful to God to the very end!! Dios Mio!!

I sometimes get side tracked and forget that he was also but a man...with the same ailments as you and I, the same sins, vices and human needs as well. When you talked about his clothes and letters----my immediate reaction was "Dr. Rizal wore clothes? " hahaha, but you know what i mean, 'te.

Seriously tho---i plan on visiting this museum---it will probably the closest way of me ever getting close to the Great Rizal. The man that I've obsessed and passionately read about through these years....

One of the greatest quotes I adore of his was his from his last work, "Mi Ultima Adios"

Otros te dan sus vidas sin dudas, sin pesar;
El sitio nada importa, ciprés, laurel o lirio,
Cadalso o campo abierto, combate o cruel martirio,
Lo mismo es si lo piden la patria y el hogar.

+++

The english translation is:

Farewell, beloved Country, treasured region of the sun,
Pearl of the sea of the Orient, our vanquished Eden!
To you I gladly surrender this melancholy life;
And were it brighter, fresher, gaudier,
Even then I’d give it to you, to you alone would then I give.
In fields of battle, deliriously fighting,
Others give you their lives, without doubt, without regret;
Where there’s cypress, laurel or lily,
On a plank or open field, in combat or cruel martyrdom,
If the home or country asks, it's all the same--it matters not.

LOL! I wish, she's wayyy too elitist some times. She come from a really well off noble class in Spain; I overheard her say that she is part of the La casa de alba and her father is a relative of Jacobo Martínez de Irujo y Fitz-James Stuart, who is the Count of Siruela, Spain.

I dont have a chance, I'm only a humble Filipino :P

I'll make USP one of my top destination lists this summer then, 'te. Maybe I can take a picture with Sr. Rizal's family and plaque it in my wall, hahahaha. Now are they his direct decendents? Like children or distant relatives? Because I thought the great man that was Sr. Dr. Jose P. Rizal lost his child in childbirth?

Thanks a bunch

September 18, 2007, 10:45:00 AM

'Where are you from?"

This is all too common question asked by another Asian (mostly women) “Where are you from?" before "hello, I am ____."

I was at a basketball game this past weekend and I saw another Asian woman who looks friendly. I love friendly people. She had a friendly smile as she passes by holding her 2 years old son and I smile back at her. Soon at halftime, she came over towards me and said, "where are you from?”

Exactly, no introduction, no hello, no "what' is your name?", but "where are you from?” I hear this too often, in fact I expected this from another Asian to ask first "where are you from?" rather than a friendly hello, or hi, my name is? Alternatively, what is your name?

I have been asking about this for a long time, what is so significant about this? Why not know me first and ask me that question later. It is visually clear that I am from an Asian country; does it really matter where I am from?

Then, I am confuse by how to answer this question because I was born in Anda, grew up in the U.S., and live all over the place, which one do they really want to know?

I am from Anda, Bohol, Philippines.

Most Americans will immediately know if you're Americanized or not (the manner of speech, mannerism and how you carry yourself), but if you look 'foreign' as in not white or black, they'll usually want to know what ethnic background you're from.
