Too Much Cash

Lin offers the following rule of thumb when it comes to carrying cash: Bring only as much with you as you're willing to lose. "It's good to have a little cash on you at all times for emergencies, but you don't want to carry so much that you're going to feel a real hit if your wallet gets stolen." For people on a "cash diet," Lin recommends bringing only as much cash to cover the day's expenses.

Gift Cards/Certificates

"A lot of people carry these around thinking, 'I never know when I'm going to be passing this store,' but chances are, you're going to forget about it anyway, and if your wallet gets stolen, it's one of the first thing thieves are going to use," Lin says. Gift cards and gift certificates are just like cash -- they don't require ID for use. "Try to leave it at home and take it with you only when you are consciously going to shop at that store," Lin says. "Make it a special excursion; it's a treat to have free money to spend."

Your Checkbook

"As innocuous as it seems, your checkbook has your bank account number and routing number on it, your address, and possibly imprints of your signature," says Lin. Lin says that if you know you're going to need to write a check one day, peel off one check out of your book and take it with you. If you know you're going to need to write multiple checks in one day, go ahead and take your checkbook, but don't get into the habit of carrying it around with you all the time, Lin says. "You want to prevent someone's ability to just start writing out your blank checks and cashing them."

Too Many Credit Cards

"A lot of people put all their cards in their wallet and carry them with them at all times," says Lin. "But if your wallet gets lost or stolen, that means you're going to have to sit and cancel every single one, and wait a week without any credit cards before you receive a replacement." Only carry the one or two cards you use on a daily basis and a backup, and leave others at home. Also make sure you keep photocopies of the front and back of each card at home, Lin advises. The 1-800 number to call and report a lost or stolen card is very often on the back of your card -- which doesn't do you a lot of good once the card is no longer in your possession.

Passwords/Pass codes

Although most PIN numbers are only four digits long, some people still write them down so they don't forget. "If you store any type of ATM password or even a code for your home alarm in your wallet, you have basically gifted a thief with access to your life," says Lin. If you absolutely can't remember important pass codes, store them digitally on a password-protected phone, but never write them down and leave them in your wallet or purse.

A Non-Password Protected Phone

Today, many people have smart phones that allow them instant access to bank accounts, PayPal accounts, medical records, and more. Even if your phone only accesses e-mail, a thief could easily search for banking or ATM passwords or addresses, according to Lin. "Think about all the things you have digitally stored on your phone. You have to have it behind password protection. This way a thief can still erase your phone's memory and use it for themselves, but they won't have access to your data."

Social Security Card

"You may carry it around thinking you need a back-up source of ID, but these days you don't really need it," says Maria Lin, editor in chief at Learnvest. If your Social Security card gets in the wrong hands, someone could open a credit card, apply for a loan, or even buy a car with the information. It's nine digits, just memorize it.

Your Passport

If you're traveling internationally, of course you can't leave your passport at home, but you can leave it in the hotel safe. When you are abroad, make a photocopy of your passport to have in your wallet for identification along with your driver's license. "If you lose your passport or get mugged in a foreign country, it's such a horrible hassle," says Lin. "You have to go to the embassy, and it's a vacation nightmare." If you're traveling in the U.S., use your driver's license instead. "Your passport is such a primo document for your identity, if someone gets a hold of it, you can really put yourself at risk for identity theft," says Lin.

What you keep in your wallet will determine how at risk you are for identity theft in the chance you lose it. Here are 10 items experts suggest keeping at home.

We all make sure we've got our keys, wallet and phone before we head out the door, but more often than not, we are carrying around things that are better left at home. Some items we carry on a daily basis can be virtually impossible to replace, and others may leave us at risk for identity theft in the event of loss. We checked in with the personal finance experts at LearnVest to find the top 10 things you shouldn't carry in your purse or wallet.

"The Cave Shrimps of the Philippines"

Abstract - The diversity of cavernicolous shrimps of the Philippines is reappraised on the basis of recent as well as old collections. This study shows that the subterranean shrimp fauna of the Philippines is represented only by the family Atyidae, with 11 species in 5 genera--Antecaridina, Jolivetya, Edoneus, Halocaridinides, and Caridina, belonging to three subfamilies--Typhlatyinae, Caridellinae and Atyinae. Nine stygobiont species and 2 stygoxene species are recorded. Of these, five are new to science and four are recorded from the Philippines for the first time. Results of morphological comparisons suggest that the subterranean shrimps of the Philippines might have multiple origins. Three hypothetical origin pathways are proposed. Morphological illustrations are provided. The adaptations of these shrimps to these subterranean habitats and their possible speciation are discussed. -- http://rmbr.nus.edu.sg/bejc/archive/tanngcai.html

Sky Burial

Stupa burial and cremation are reserved for high lamas who are being honored in death. Sky burial is the usual means for disposing of the corpses of commoners. Sky burial is not considered suitable for children who are less than 18, pregnant women, or those who have died of infectious disease or accident. The origin of sky burial remains largely hidden in Tibetan mystery.

Sky burial is a ritual that has great religious meaning. Tibetans are encouraged to witness this ritual, to confront death openly and to feel the impermanence of life. Tibetans believe that the corpse is nothing more than an empty vessel. The spirit, or the soul, of the deceased has exited the body to be reincarnated into another circle of life. It is believed that the Drigung Kagyu order of Tibetan Buddhism established the tradition in this land of snow, although there are other versions of its origin.

The corpse is offered to the vultures. It is believed that the vultures are Dakinis. Dakinis are the Tibetan equivalent of angels. In Tibetan, Dakini means "sky dancer". Dakinis will take the soul into the heavens, which is understood to be a windy place where souls await reincarnation into their next lives. This donation of human flesh to the vultures is considered virtuous because it saves the lives of small animals that the vultures might otherwise capture for food. Sakyamuni, one of the Buddhas, demonstrated this virtue. To save a pigeon, he once fed a hawk with his own flesh.

After death, the deceased will be left untouched for three days. Monks will chant around the corpse. Before the day of sky burial, the corpse will be cleaned and wrapped in white cloth. The corpse will be positioned in a fetal position, the same position in which the person had been born. The ritual of sky burial usually begins before dawn. Lamas lead a ritual procession to the charnel ground, chanting to guide the soul. There are few charnel grounds in Tibet. They are usually located near monasteries. Few people would visit charnel grounds except to witness sky burials. Few would want to visit these places.

After the chanting, the body breakers prepare the body for consumption by the vultures. The body is unwrapped and the first cut is made on the back. Hatchets and cleavers are used to quickly cut the body up, in a definite and precise way. Flesh is cut into chunks of meat. The internal organs are cut into pieces. Bones are smashed into splinters and then mixed with tsampa, roasted barley flour.

As the body breakers begin, juniper incense is burned to summon the vultures for their tasks, to eat breakfast and to be Dakinis. During the process of breaking up the body, those ugly and enormous birds circle overhead, awaiting their feast. They are waved away by the funeral party, usually consisting of the friends of the deceased, until the body breakers have completed their task. After the body has been totally separated, the pulverized bone mixture is scattered on the ground. The birds land and hop about, grabbing for food. To assure ascent of the soul, the entire body of the deceased should be eaten. After the bone mixture, the organs are served next, and then the flesh. -- http://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/tibet/sky-buria.htm

Vultures fighting over flesh

The species of vulture involved is apparently the “Eurasian Griffon” or “Old World vulture,” Order Falconiformes, Family Accipitridae, scientific name Gyps fulvus. In places where there are several jhator offerings each day, the birds sometimes had to be coaxed to eat, which in one case was accomplished by a ritual dance. It is considered a bad omen if the vultures will not eat, or if even a small portion of the body is left after the birds fly away. In places where fewer bodies are processed, the vultures were more eager and sometimes had to be fended off with sticks during the initial preparations.

General Topic / Sky Burial: Eco-Friendly Funerals
July 28, 2011, 08:25:27 PM

Sky burial or ritual dissection was once a common funerary practice in Tibet wherein a human corpse is cut in specific locations and placed on a mountaintop, exposing it to the elements or the mahabhuta and animals â€" especially to birds of prey. In Tibetan the practice is known as jhator, which literally means, “giving alms to the birds.” The majority of Tibetans adhere to Buddhism, which teaches rebirth. There is no need to preserve the body, as it is now an empty vessel. Birds may eat it, or nature may let it decompose. So the function of the sky burial is simply the disposal of the remains. In much of Tibet the ground is too hard and rocky to dig a grave, and with fuel and timber scarce, a sky burial is often more practical than cremation. -- http://cogitz.com/

Man has rude awakening on funeral parlor slab, staff flees, thinking he’s a ghost
posted by Rob Kerby, Senior Editor | 10:05 pm Wednesday July 27, 2011

When a 60-year-old grandfather woke up Sunday inside an undertaker’s refrigerator, he began yelling in protest.

Two mortuary attendants ran out of the building in South Africa, convinced he was a ghost.

The asthmatic man, whose name has been withheld, lost consciousness while asleep at his home in a rural village near Libode in the Transkei region, according to health department spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo.

“His family thought he had died,” Kupelo told ABC News. Relatives did not call paramedics, but instead phoned the mortuary, assuming he was dead. The morgue’s owner told the Associated Press that the worker who picked up the supposedly dead man “examined the body, checked his pulse, looked for a heartbeat, but there was nothing.”

Funeral home owner Ayanda Maqolo was there when the elderly man woke up and started screaming after having been in the refrigerator with other corpses for at least 21 hours. Two workers heard screaming from the refrigerators, thought it was a ghost and they ran for their lives.”

“He asked, ‘How did I get here?’” the owner recalled the man saying. The owner added that the chilling experience even gave him “nightmares.”

“I couldn’t sleep last night,” he told AP. “But today I’m much better.”

The chilled but unwilling customer was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for dehydration.

“Doctors put him under observation and concluded that he was stable,” said Kupelo. “He did not need further treatment.” --  http://blog.beliefnet.com/

Sikhs who wear turbans while riding motorcycles say their obedience to their faith is far more important than safety.

Unfortunately, traffic cops seldom see it that way. As a result, the Canadian Sikh Association is asking the Ontario government to exempt turban-wearing motorcyclists from having to wear a helmet, as now required by law.

The meeting was attended by provincial Liberal and Progressive Conservative leaders.

“For us, this is no more a safety issue as it has already been approved in British Columbia, Manitoba, some states in the U.S. and also in England,” said Baljit Singh Ghuman, chair of the CSA. “This is more a human rights issue.” -- http://blog.beliefnet.com/

Here Dr. Sacks recounts the case histories of patients lost in the bizarre, apparently inescapable world of neurological disorders: people afflicted with fantastic perceptual and intellectual aberrations; patients who have lost their memories and with them the greater part of their pasts; who are no longer able to recognize people and common objects; who are stricken with violent tics and grimaces or who shout involuntary obscenities; whose limbs have become alien; who have been dismissed as retarded yet are gifted with uncanny artistic or mathematical talents.

If inconceivably strange, these brilliant tales remain, in Dr. Sacks’s splendid and sympathetic telling, deeply human. They are studies of life struggling against incredible adversity, and they enable us to enter the world of the neurologically impaired, to imagine with our hearts what it must be to live and feel as they do. -- http://www.oliversacks.com/books/man-who-mistook-his-wife/

The world is full of fun, exciting, inspirational news. I have two new stories, both of which involve children, which you can’t help but appreciate.

A toddler was returned safely to his family following a two hour journey down a swift river in Vancouver, British Columbia. After the child quietly slipping away from adults during a camping trip, a boater found him sitting in his toy truck while floating down Peace River without a life jacket.

And what was the child’s main concern when he was found? He simply wanted to make sure his toy wasn’t left behind. How’s that for a great story? Reports stated that the child didn’t appear to be scared or even aware of the danger that we so clearly see. He was simply riding along and enjoying the scenery for nearly 8 miles.

This made me wonder what the world would be like if we all had the faith and positive focus of this 3 year old. He has obviously not yet been programmed with fear, so his perspective is very different from that of most people. This is just one example of how different people experience the same circumstances in such different ways that one may live in joy while the other endures agony.

I challenge you to stop and think of a situation in your life that you can look at a little differently. Do you see danger or adventure? Are you facing a reason to panic or an opportunity to create a miracle? Are you enjoying the ride or worrying about how it is going to end?

Remember, your thoughts create your reality and determine how you experience life. My latest hero practices law of allowing perfectlyâ€"and he is just 3 years old. -- http://www.attractionsaga.com/

Do You Believe?

Tucker -- the author of "Life Before Life: A Scientific Investigation of Children's Memories of Previous Lives" -- has seen cases like James' where children make statements that can be verified and seem to match with a particular person.

"It means that this is a phenomenon that really needs to be explored," Tucker said. "James is one of many, many kids who have said things like this."

While about three-fourths of Americans say they believe in paranormal activity, 20 percent believe in reincarnation, according to a 2005 Gallup poll.

Fifty percent do not believe in reincarnation while 20 percent say they're not sure.

People in other cultures are more likely than Americans to believe in past lives. Tucker said he was a skeptic about reincarnation, but he identified some patterns in his research.

"Children are describing very recent lives and very ordinary lives usually in the same country," he said.

Seventy percent of the deaths described by children were unnatural or under unusual circumstances, he said.

James' parents say they were once skeptics about past lives and reincarnation. After James' experience, they are now believers.  -- http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=2232830

From the ages of 2 to 6, James Leininger seemed to recall in striking detail a "past life" he had as a World War II Navy pilot who was shot down and killed over the Pacific.

The boy knew details about airplanes and about pilot James Huston Jr. that he couldn't have known.

James' parents say he also had terrible nightmares about a plane crashing and a "little man" unable to get out.

James, now 8, stills loves airplanes, but he is free of those haunting images of the pilot's death.

"He's doing great. He's your typical 8-year-old boy ready to start third grade," said James' mother, Andrea Leininger.

Jim Tucker, a child psychiatrist and medical director of the Child and Family Psychiatric Clinic at the University of Virginia, is one of the few researchers to extensively study the phenomenon of children who seem to have memories of past lives.

He says James' case is very much like others he has studied.

"At the University of Virginia, we've studied over 2,500 cases of children who seem to talk about previous lives when they're little," Tucker said. "They start at 2 or 3, and by the time they're 6 or 7 they forget all about it and go on to live the rest of their lives."

[26] The circumstances of and surrounding the killing of Mr Price can thus be seen to be horrendous. Indeed they go far beyond the experience of any of the professional people, including experienced psychiatrists, that were involved in the case. A number of police officers who were highly experienced in examining crime scenes found the need to take stress leave because of the situation with which they were confronted when examining the crime scene at Mr Price’s house. Objectively the circumstances mark the killing and its accompanying incidents as being of the most gruesome kind, the murder as being in the most serious category of that crime."

[16] Thereafter the prisoner, who had for many years worked as a meat slicer in abattoirs, skinned Mr Price’s body. This was carried out with considerable expertise and an obviously steady hand so that his skin, including that of the head, face, nose, ears, neck, torso, genital organs and legs, was removed so as to form one pelt. So expertly was it done that, after the post mortem examination, the skin was able to be re-sewn onto Mr Price’s body in a way which indicated a clear and appropriate, albeit grizzly, methodology...

[17] At some time after Mr Price had been skinned the prisoner hung his pelt on a meat hook on the architrave of the door of the lounge room, where it remained until it was later removed by investigating police...

[18] ... [A]t some time between the time when the body was moved into the lounge room and skinned and about a time before 7.30 a.m. on 1 March 2000 the prisoner decapitated Mr Price’s body and at some stage arranged it with the left arm draped over an empty soft drink bottle, and the legs crossed. This was said in evidence to be an act of defilement demonstrating contempt for Mr Price’s remains.

[19] The evidence of the Medical Examiner establishes that the decapitation was effected at the C3/C4 junction and was done with a very sharp knife. The removal was clean and left an incised type wound. To remove Mr Price’s head in such a way required skill, which was consistent with the skills acquired by the prisoner in the course of her work as a meat slicer. It also required a steady hand at the relevant time.

[20] Not only was Mr Price’s head removed but parts of his buttocks were also sliced off. The excised parts of Mr Price were then taken by the prisoner to the kitchen and at some stage, after she had peeled and prepared various vegetables, she cooked Mr Price’s head in a large pot together with a number of the vegetables she had prepared so as to produce a sickening stew. The contents of the pot were still warm, estimated to be at between 40 and 50 degrees centigrade, when examined by police during the mid-morning of 1 March 2000...

[21] The pieces which had been cut from Mr Price’s buttocks were baked in the oven of the premises by the prisoner together with other of the vegetables she had peeled. The gruesome steaks were then arranged on plates together with the vegetables which she had baked and left as meals for the son and daughter of the deceased, accompanied by vindictive notes to each in the handwriting of the prisoner. A third piece was thrown on the back lawn, whether for consumption by dogs or for some other purpose is not revealed in the evidence...

"[1] Katherine Mary Knight (the prisoner) was arraigned on 2 February, 2001 on a charge of having murdered John Charles Thomas Price (Mr Price) at Aberdeen in the State of New South Wales on or about 29 February 2000...

[8] The post mortem examination revealed that Mr Price had been stabbed at least 37 times in various parts of both the front and back of his body...

[9] Many of the wounds were deep, and extended into vital organs. These included the aorta, both lungs, the liver, the stomach, the descending colon, the pancreas, and the left kidney, the lower pole of which had virtually been sliced off.

[10] The wounds inflicted on Mr Price and the injuries which they caused resulted in the loss of a great deal of blood. This was found splattered and smeared throughout various parts of the house and in a pool, which was quite deep, and measured 1 metre x 2 metres. This pool was in the hallway of Mr Price’s home...

[14] After he had been dead for some time his body was dragged by the prisoner from the hallway into the lounge room...

MANILA (Reuters) - Seven Philippine soldiers were killed and 21 wounded on Thursday in the heaviest fighting in months between government troops and al Qaeda-linked militants on a remote southern island, an army spokesman said.

The militants of the Abu Sayyaf group also suffered heavy casualties when soldiers stumbled upon their main base on Jolo island, said Lieutenant-Colonel Randolph Cabangbang.

"We're sending helicopters to provide close air support as well as evacuate our casualties," Cabangbang told reporters, adding that soldiers battled the militants for five hours before capturing the base.

"Our troops were pursuing a small group of armed men who were holding captives when they found themselves in the middle of the Abu Sayyaf's main base. That would explain our losses."

The Abu Sayyaf, with an estimated strength of about 300 fighters, is the smallest but deadliest of several Muslim groups fighting the government of the majority Christian Philippines.

Since 2002, U.S. troops have been helping train and advise troops fighting the militants, and the Abu Sayyaf has been largely contained in recent years.

Cabangbang said there were an estimated 70 rebels in the base, near Patikul town, which served as the headquarters of militant leaders Radullan Saheron and Isnilon Hapilon.

Some Indonesian and Malaysian militants were believed to have been there, he added.

"We hit the militants' nerve centre, so there was heavy resistance," Cabangbang said.

Saheron and Hapilon are on a U.S. State Department wanted list for involvement in numerous murders and kidnappings, including three workers of the International Committee of the Red Cross in 2009 and an American missionary couple in 2001.

Currently the house is receiving building permits as art installation, since it doesn’t fulfill any existing Polish building codes, the building process is supposed to start in September.

The “living” will place itself on the transformable, remote control openable stairs, that flatten themselves when being in”up” position and become regular stairs when going down.

It will be equipped with boat-inspired water and sewage technology independent from city systems, the electricity will be delivered by a neighboring building.
#52171

Structurally the house is a simple tri-dimensional steel frame finished with plywood, insulated sandwich panels and styrofoam covered with concrete cloth painted white.

The interior will also be painted all white.
#52172

The house will be a workplace, a hermitage created for an outstanding Isreali writer, Etgar Keret. Besides, it will also fulfill a function of a studio for invited guests â€" young creators and intellectualists from all over the world.

The residential program, conducted in the heart of Wola, is supposed to produce creative work conditions and become a significant platform for world intellectual exchange.

Time Travel is Impossible, Claim Physicists
By Fionna Agomuoh | Christian Post Contributor
The Christian Post > Tech|Tue, Jul. 26 2011 11:18 PM EDT

A group of physicists from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology have conducted research that allegedly proves time travel is a scientific impossibility by demonstrating that nothing can move faster than the speed of light.

TechnologyThe experiment allowed scientists to observe single photon particles at their maximum speed for the first time and also confirmed that a single photon moves just as fast as the speed of light in vacuum, if not up to 500 nanoseconds slower in certain conditions, according to PC Magazine.

With photons being a basic unit of electromagnetic radiation, or light, the research proves that light cannot move faster than light itself, making it impossible for anything else to move faster than light and debunking the theory of time travel.

The research findings detail that photons obey the laws of physics laid out in the principle of causality in Einstein’s theory of relativity. This states an effect cannot occur before its cause. Only the violation of this law would allow the possibility of time travel.

“By showing that single photons cannot travel faster than the speed of light, our results bring a closure to the debate on the true speed of information carried by a single photon,” said Professor Shengwang Du, lead researcher on the team.

The theory of time travel became especially popular 10 years ago when scientists observed “superluminal” behavior in the photons of optical pulses that seemed to move faster than the light, according to BBC News.

Amy Winehouse's Beehive Hairdo Was Developed In Chicago In 1960
Posted Tue Jul 26, 2011 9:51am PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr.

Amy Winehouse wholly embraced her love for the '60s, and it wasn't apparent just in her music, which channeled the throwback sound of girl groups like the Ronettes. The "Rehab" singer, who was found dead in her London home Saturday and was buried Tuesday, also adopted a signature hairstyle made popular during that era--the beehive.

When Winehouse was introduced to U.S. audiences in 2006 when promoting her sophomore album "Back To Black," her hairdo was a distinctive part of her image.

Winehouse's poufy mane which stood no less than 5 inches tall, so closely resembled that of lead Ronette singer Ronnie Spector that the veteran performer thought she was looking at a photo of her younger self when she saw a picture of Winehouse in the New York Post.

"I don't know her, I never met her, and when I saw that pic, I thought, 'That's me!' But then I found out, no, it's Amy. I didn't have on my glasses," Spector told the Village Voice.

The hairstyle made its debut in 1960, and was conceived by Margaret Vinci Heldt, then a stylist for the Chicago-based Modern Beauty Shop magazine. Inspired to showcase something different for the February 1960 issue, Heldt conceptualized the new hair design.

LONDON (Reuters) - The sale of a 200-year-old bottle of white wine for 75,000 pounds has set a new Guinness World Record for the most valuable bottle of white wine ever sold.

The buyer of the 1811 Château d'Yquem was private collector Christian Vanneque, former head Sommelier at the Michelin starred La Tour d'Argent restaurant in Paris.

Though Château d'Yquem is famed for being one of the finest and most expensive sweet white wines, the 1811 vintage has a particular attraction for wine enthusiasts.

The climatology of the year, reviews from tastings, as well as the auspicious appearance of the Great Comet in that year, all indicate an excellent wine.

"This wine is very special -- it is attached to the most renowned white wine in the world, and it was produced in the year of the Great Comet, which was believed to enhance the quality of the wine," Vanneque told Reuters.

"It is a rare wine, which been tasted on three occasions and each time received five out of five stars," he added.

"It was not just purchased as an investment - it is also going to be an enjoyment."

"I did not know it was the most expensive white wine ever sold when I purchased it, but I did know it was the most expensive wine I had ever paid for."

The high concentration of sugar in Château d'Yquem means it has a drinking life which far outstrips that of other wines.

The wine will be displayed in a bullet-proof, temperature and hydrometrically controlled showcase for six years at his restaurant, the SIP Sunset Grill in Bali.

"I will open it in six years to mark the 50th anniversary of when I began work in Paris and share it with my wife, brothers and friends -- I already know what the menu will be," Vanneque said.

The private sale was by the Antique Wine Company, which had also held the previous record for white wine -- an 1887 Château d'Yquem at $100,000.

"I always have a tear in my eye when I sell a bottle of wine but I'm comforted by the knowledge that it has been purchased by someone passionate about wine and it's going to a good home," said company Managing Director Stephen Williams. (Editing by Steve Addison) -- http://news.yahoo.com/

Chapter 5

So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves.  For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family.  For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren.  And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.
#52198
Chapter 4

On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life.  For this, I'll give you twenty years."

But the human said, "Only twenty years?  Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?"

"Okay," said God.  "You asked for it."
#52199
Chapter 3

On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family.  For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years."

The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years.  How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?"

And God agreed it was good.

Chapter 2

On the second day, God created the monkey and said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh.  For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span."

The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years?  That's a pretty long time to perform.  How about I give you back ten like the dog did?"

And God, again saw it was good.
