Love Talk / Of Friends and Bestfriends
June 02, 2008, 07:57:40 AM

the difference is clear!!!!!!!!!!

Friend: calls your parents by mr. and mrs.
Best friend: calls your parents dad & mom or tito & tita.

Friend: has never seen you cry
Best friend: has always has the best shoulder to cry on

Friend: never asks for anything to eat or drink
Best friend: opens the fridge & makes herself at home

Friend: asks you to write down your number.
Best friend: they ask you for their number    (cuz they can't remember it)

Friend: borrows your stuff for a few days then gives it back.
Best friend: has a closet full of your stuff

Friend: only knows a few things about you
Best friend:could write a biography on your life story

Friend: will leave you behind if that is what the crowd is doing
Best friend: will always go with you

Friend: will ask where you've been (after going AWOL)
Best Friend: will say MISS YOU & goes on being your friend

Friends Forever!

Written with a pen
Sealed with a kiss
If you are my friend,
Please answer this:
Are we friends or are we not?
You told me once, but I forgot.
So tell me now and tell me true,

So I can say, I am here for you.
Of all the friends I've ever met,
You're the ones I won't forget.
And if I die before you do,
I'll go to Heaven
And wait for you.

okay i get your point te, one should be contented to what he/she has..

then again we are exposed (thru media, hypes) to what others have..
by nature we strive to achieve or overcome their situation in life..
i think it is only when we realize and accept what we can only have, do we know that life after all is not all about the money..
so it all goes back to your opinion..

pro te, i think all people at one point in their life strived to have more than what they have..

Lim: Sorry Pacific
By Melanie T. Lim
Wide Awake

READER Joel Y. Bontuyan writes, “I am alarmed by this trade of barbs between those who have experienced Cebu Pacific's now-notorious service and those that still admire the airline (actually, I can only name Alvin John Tan here) for its role in democratizing domestic air travel.

“Not because I have an iota of concern for Cebu Pacific, but because it carries the name of Cebu in its corporate name and, thus, may inevitably drag the name of Cebu in the mire it is in now. I also have this gnawing indignation that just because it has broken monopoly, an entity can be allowed to mess up the lives of its customers. Where is the difference?

“I only hope that people would look at it as the case of Sorry Pacific and not Cebu Pathetic if only to make a point that an enterprise, airline or not, which has profited so much from the use of Cebu's name, won't drag Cebu by association into the downdraft it has created for itself.”

I agree with Joel Bontuyan hence the title of this column.

Recently, an acquaintance tells me it’s been a year and she still hasn’t received the refund promised to her in three months. When she follows up, she is told that they have no record of her request for a refund. So, she has to start from Square 1. She asked if I could give her a name she could contact. My reply, “I can give you many names but they won’t help.”

The public should be aware of thisâ€"that Cebu Pacific has no intention of dealing with the complaints of its clients. Expect no apologies either. Remember, Cebu Pacific is a budget airline. Apologies can be expensive. Instead, the company prefers to invite columnists to lunch. Apparently, columnists are cheap.

“Instead of taking out those expensive ads, hire more people so you can improve your services.” Listen to the advice of your irate passengers.

I have repeatedly asked Cebu Pacific to acknowledge its shortcomings, address the complaints of its customers, apologize to the public. But it’s clear to me now that Cebu Pacific is incapable of taking the high road. Well, let the public be forewarned that when you fly with this airline, you fly LOW and at your own risk.

A friend was booked for Macau with hotel reservations at the Venetian. Cebu Pacific cancelled her outgoing flight without notice. She lost $250 down the drain for one night of hotel accommodations. Worse, she was left with just two sorry nights of her precious vacation. She decided not to move her flight home because then, she would have to pay rebooking charges.

So put things in proper perspective when you fly with an unreliable airline. You may end up paying for extra hotel nights, rebooking charges or getting your vacation cut short because of delays and cancellations. In short, you may end up paying more than what you bargained for. And that’s not counting your indignation over having been duped into getting a cheap ticket that turned out to be the most expensive in your lifetime.

Now you know why it’s called Sorry Pacific.

there were many tourists who were planning to make a daytime round of Bohol and take the last trip back to Cebu that same day. By all accounts, they were as much a tourist as those who stayed overnight in one of Bohol's accommodation facilities.

somewhat true.. when we had our jpia conference at bohol, we had a hard time looking for a place to stay, it took as 3 hours to find one.. gud thing we found this pensionne house near a mall  and it was not  tourist peak season. na! gudluck if it was.

Lost tribe discovered deep in Amazon -- reports

Agence France-Presse
First Posted 23:39:00 05/30/2008

SAO PAULO -- Dramatic images of an isolated Brazilian tribe believed never to have had contact with the outside world were published by officials Friday to draw attention to threats posed to their way of life.

The pictures, released by the Brazilian government's National Indian Foundation (FUNAI), showed alarmed natives pointing bows and arrows at the aircraft carrying photographers.

The head of FUNAI's environmental protection unit responsible for the images, Jose Carlos dos Reis Mereilles, told Brazilian newspapers the foundation had known of the existence of the tribe for years -- located in thick rainforest near the Peruvian border -- and many photos had been taken.

"This time, we decided to reveal the material to prove that there are Indians living in complete isolation, and to call attention to a serious problem that exists, which is the threat of interlopers from the Peruvian side," he told O Estado de S. Paulo.

The pictures were taken from several flights over the apparently sedentary tribe's thatched-roof village in the remote Brazilian state of Acre.

Survival International, a British group lobbying on behalf of indigenous people around the world, said on its website there were fears illegal logging in Peru could endanger the Brazilian tribe's habitat, by forcing displaced Peruvian tribes into contact with it.

It said there were an estimated 500 isolated Indians living on the Brazilian side of the border.

"The world needs to wake up to this, and ensure that their territory is protected in accordance with international law. Otherwise, they will soon be made extinct," Survival International director Stephen Corry said.

His group said there were more than 100 uncontacted indigenous tribes worldwide.

Can you actually stay in a house with 1 meter WIDE by 10 meters TALL?

A house calls attention in Madre de Deus, Brazil; it have three floors and even the builder had faith in what he built. Helenita, the designer and the owner of the house who is now living happily inside.

At first, the plan refused, but in the end with the plan allowed the construction, that became a touristic spot of the small town of 12 thousand people.

There are benches in front of the house where the tourists can spent some time watching the unusual building. Some, more curious, ask to go inside and take pictures, in which Helenita (woman in yellow) allows. The couple now have plans to build a 4th floor, "open, for leisure, with barbecue and everything".

MANILA, Philippines -- Senator Richard Gordon on Friday defended his appearance on a TV advertisement, saying that the campaign of the commercial soap Safeguard, called “Laban sa Limang Banta,” was a legitimate advocacy of public health, hygiene and safety.

Gordon said he had been with the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) for over 30 years, from the time when he enlisted as a volunteer at the age of 17.

He also used to be a brand manager of Procter and Gamble, the company behind Safeguard.

“The intent and core message of the Safeguard advertising campaign was to teach the general public the benefits of proper hand washing and its importance in preventing the spread of communicable diseases,” Gordon said.

Senator Pia Cayetano, who appeared on the commercial of the product, Downey Fabric Softener, said there was nothing wrong about any person coming out in public for various causes.

“I personally lent my name to a good cause, which is saving water. And so, unless there is a specific allegation as to why there would be a specific concern, say conflict of interest, that can be dealt with on a case-to-case basis,” she said.
