Baby Shower cake I did last Saturday:

The lady boss of my sister who ordered this cake wanted to have an umbrella and flowers on the cake.  She said she meant drawing ba kaha sa umbrella on the cake but I made 3D umbrella and some.  I made baby clothes, arpilir and alphabet box pero ang letters BABY GIRL ra ang naka sulat.

I also hand molded a baby na naka tuwad, complete with pillow and matching blanket!

i watched the superbowl early in the morning. thank God steelers win. i thought it's going be the cardinals when they led by 3 23-20 with just over 2 minutes left. good thing roethlisberger showed nerves of steel as he was able to make a shotgun pass to santinio holmes for the game winning touchdown. kudos to the steelers and their rookie coach mike tomlin. added attraction was arnel pineda, the filipino frontman of journey who performed that day together with bruce springsteen and more.

Ako pod, Ray, I thought madaog ang Cardinals adto sus kay naka catch man si Number 10!  Pirte nko ambak!  I thought gani i challenge to but maayo na lang ang desisyon na set jud ang iyang two feet within the line!  He was good!  Dapat MVP jud to sya!

There has been issues raised about this mother having 8 babies at one time.  She was accused of being irresponsible for having 8 babies in her womb and not agreeing to having some of the babies aborted to keep the other kids safe.  I couldn't believe my ears!
#5113
I know, Dong.  I am sorry, too.  I am just so sad.  I felt like I am feeling the pain of her mother but I bet what I felt right now is nothing compared to how her mother actually feel. tsk tsk tsk What a waste of life!

This thread is nice.

I cant stop but be reminded of a story i heard about another tribe in Mindanao: Ata.

Once daw, a group of Atas hitched a ride on a public utility bus. Since the conductor thought they would not pay, he sent all of them on top of the bus, amid the pile or merchandise.

After a while, the bus reached a checkpoint. The sergeant manning the checkpoint pointed to the Atas on top of the bus.

Sergeant: Hoy, kayo lahat, Baba.
Ata: Atami Sir
Sergeant: O bakit, Hakone! (ako ni)
Ata: o sige, baba na ta kay suko na sardine

Ata diay pod si Sergeant!

Nah hala, manghatag ta'g Atami ug Hakone pohon ha! :D

Talk of the Town / Another Suicide Case In Tagbilaran
January 30, 2009, 10:13:12 AM
What's going on?

I heard the sad news today from my sister that a 16-year old pretty girl, our family friend committed suicide.  Her family used to live in Manga, just a few steps away from our house then they moved to Dauis.  We even consider her and her siblings as part of our family. Why are there more cases of suicide now?  Is life really that bad that they have to curtail their own life?  Didn't they realize it's a BIG sin?  My heart is grieving for the family of this young girl.  May she find peace wherever she is now.  And may God comfort the family.

World Daily News / Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich Ousted
January 30, 2009, 08:17:11 AM
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Illinois Senate voted to remove Gov. Rod Blagojevich from office Thursday, marking the first time in the state's long history of political corruption that a chief executive has been impeached and convicted.

The 59-0 vote followed several hours of public deliberation in which senator after senator stood up to blast Blagojevich, whose tenure lasted six years. And it came after a four-day impeachment trial on allegations that Blagojevich abused his power and sold his office for personal and political benefit.

The conviction on a sweeping article of impeachment means the governor was immediately removed from office. The Senate also unanimously voted to impose the "political death penalty" on Blagojevich, banning him from ever again holding office in Illinois.

Lt. Gov. Patrick Quinn, Blagojevich's two-time running mate, has become the state's 41st governor.

he whirlwind of change capped a dramatic day in Illinois politics that promises to have repercussions for years to come. Quinn and lawmakers must bail out a state in the red by as much as $5 billion, and the campaign for statewide offices including governor formally kicks off late this year when candidates file to run in the February 2010 primary.

Highlighting the day's serious nature, Blagojevich offered his own sprawling, passionate closing argument after ignoring a Senate impeachment trial all week to take his case to the nation on the talk-show circuit.

Alternately praising and upbraiding those who will decide his political fate, Blagojevich urged the senators not to remove him from office, saying he has "done absolutely nothing wrong" and "never, ever intended to violate the law."

"There hasn't been a single piece of information that proves any wrongdoing," Blagojevich said to senators who were mostly stoic. "How can you throw a governor out of office with insufficient and incomplete evidence?"

Blagojevich warned senators against setting a "dangerous precedent" that would thwart the will of an electorate that twice voted for him.

"Imagine what future governors will face if I'm thrown out of office for this," Blagojevich said.

Senators dismissed the governor's plea, saying Blagojevich violated the public trust and paralyzed state government.

"He reminded us today in real detail that he is an unusually good liar," said state Sen. Matt Murphy said. "We bent over backwards to make sure that this process was fair."

Others took issue with Blagojevich's criticism of the impeachment trial rules, saying the governor could have asked for a vote on witnesses he wanted to call or evidence he wanted to present.

"At its core, it is dishonest, and it must be rejected by the members of this Senate," Sen. Bill Haine (D-Alton) said. "We must find him unfit for this great office."

Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) said Blagojevich is "inept, he's corrupt, he's cost the state millions of dollars."

Dillard, who worked for two previous Republican governors, also referenced the now-infamous colorful language Blagojevich is alleged to have used on secret federal recordings. "Former Gov. Jim Edgar's strongest language was "Golly, or Jimminy Christmas.'"

House prosecutor David Ellis attacked Blagojevich's speech in his short rebuttal argument.

"When the camera's on, the governor is for the little guy, the little people. When the camera's off, what are his priorities?" Ellis asked, pointing behind him to a poster board with transcripts of intercepted phone conversations. "`Legal, personal, political,'" Ellis said, paraphrasing words attributed to Blagojevich by federal authorities. "Nothing in that statement about the people of Illinois."

Earlier, the governor blasted the rules that he claimed don't allow him to call witnesses or challenge evidence.

"I was hopeful I would have that opportunity. I was hopeful I would have the chance to call every single witness in the criminal complaint. It would have been nice to have them here and tell you, under oath, what they know," Blagojevich said. "Unfortunately, these rules have prevented me from being able to do that."

Back when I was still based in Cagayan de Oro, I used to visit the Monastery of Transfiguration in Malaybalay.  I remember dihay isa ka monk na dating b***t na designer ni Cory Aquino.  He looked so decent though.  Talking about being human beings, kay itribida man lagi ko, ako gi interview ang akong mga friend monks what was life like inside.  One of the monks, Dom Joseph, told me so that they are just like any other human beings.  They also have their disagreements bisan ug petty lang gani sahay.  He cited as an example kanang mag bend sila when the chant the Glory be to the Father...  Kong mag bend na daw ang mga monks in front of them, ang naa sa ilang nawong ang mga lubot sa mga monks kay lagi ang uban mo bend man jud ug ayo so they also talked about it kay annoying jud daw! :D  And then the other monk shared to me na naa daw isa sa mga monks na sige'g tanum ug gulay.  And when he plants, di daw klase-klasehon.  One time, ga tanum daw ug okra so they had okra for breakfast, okra for lunch and okra for dinner, day in and out.  One time pod daw, kalabasa ra pod gitanom so anyway, one time daw, di na nila makaya sige'g balik-balik kaon same gulay, ilang gi kamang pagka gabii ug ilang gi ibot! ;D

I agree, Mr. Eli, especially that the Pangandamans are public servants.  Naa man mga guards or mga tigdumala sa Golf Course na mao untay ilang gipa asekaso ana ni Mr. Dela Paz.

Thank you so, so much, good Bad.  I really appreciate that you offer prayers for Kiddo.

You know what is so strange, just as I was reading your post earlier that's when I got update from his mother on his condition.

To all who prayed for Kiddo even if you did not drop a message in this thread, thank you very much and please continue prayer for this young man.  God bless you all!

Allow me to share the text messages I received from Kiddo's mother, Nang Bing:

Nang Bing: (January 26, 2009 14:58:30)
I went home to cdo last wed n am bak here in cebu. went to el salvador divine mercy shrine naghilaka jud ko did2 grace begged GOD for a miracle but also asked for d grace to accept whatever is in line with His HOLY WILL. Dot, thanks for this article.  This confirmed what my former co-worker in Manila (Boss actually) who is a member of Valley Golf told us in our egroup.  He said the elder De La Paz was a big "A" not just referring to what happened with Pangandamans but to most people in the Club.

Mga higala, mao kini ang dagway sa akong sulat ug ako magpasalamat kang Inday Ayessa ug Glacier kay nitabang sila ug edit. I want to hear your feedbacks and if you wish you could copy and print this and put in their suggestion boxes or for a  laugh you could give one to Bohol Quality  ;D

Dear Sir,

I would like to express my feelings of disappointment  as a Bol-anon residing outside the country  to the ICM establishments
I was informed  that the last  Raffle draw of the Island City Mall was not in accordance to the date as stated in the raffle ticket. It was held 4 January, 2009 instead of 6 January 2009.
The whole event might be trivial to you, or it might not be even important to you, but to some poor Bol-anons winning means something to hold on as  a ray of hope for  this bitter times of  hardships.
I could have just  enjoy my favorite meal, sit comfortably in my flat  and forget the whole thing but I sympathised with my fellow Bol-anon who don´t get the nerve or chance to bring their voice of disgust.
I deem it proper that the ICM establishments  give a written apology to their  loyal customers.

very truly yours,

Tessie  Bertumen Wilms
Bol-anon sa Germany

Manay Tess

Manay, mag tagsa-tagsa ta'g suwat?  Unya nko mo ambit kay naa pa koy gi atiman dinalian kaayo.  Balik ra ko.

The gaffe happened when CJ Roberts recited a long phrase of the oath and Pres. Obama had a hard time following. Obama just stopped mid sentence and smiled. CJ Roberts repeated the phrase and from then on, he abbreviated the oath.

Attorns, I think President Obama stopped mid sentence and smiled because he knew CJ Roberts messed up the oath and he kind of gave CJ Roberts a chance to make it right.

How do you know Jun Ayag has no impact to the community?  Do you know him?  I supposed you didn't know him otherwise you wouldn't ask "who is he?"  Sir, I am not too smart but my understanding is that there were criteria in the selection of this award and Mr. Ayag fit in.   :)

Inspirational for me to meet physicians who are so strong in their faith. Dr. Jensen is a peculiar man, 'te. He has a strong and firm handshake. I can feel his resolve.

It is touching to know that a man who can be so resolved, can also have so much faith in The Lord.

I would love to read that book, 'te. :)

Bran,

Dong, once your Ate Belle is done reading the book, you'll be the next to read it.

BTW, are you interested to read the book, Surgeons Do Not Cry?  Your Ate Belle has it now but she too recommends that book for you.  It's written by a Pinoy doctor, Dr. Ting Tiongco.
