Bible Study / Reply: Internalizing the Proverbs
February 08, 2008, 09:12:53 AM
I think that is a great idea, Ate Ging. I'm up for a bible study in here.

When I read the above-mentioned proverb, it was telling me to listen to the words of your mother. I found it rather strengthening that it is necessary for us to listen to our mother, and abide in her words to do no harm but good. In the excerpt that mentioned to Lemuel to evade in drinking in alcohol; it was telling me that it is better not to indulge in things that are unnecessary for you. The wealthy do not need to indulge themselves in excess goods, but rather instead of spending it on yourself, it is better to give to the poor and share your own wealth. That is the message that I got in reference to:

"Give strong drink to one who is perishing,
and wine to the sorely depressed;
When they drink, they will forget their misery,
and think no more of their burdens"

What I personally liked in this was the excerpt that said:

"What, my son, my first born!
what, o son of my womb;
what, o son of my vows!

Give not  your vigor to women,
nor your strength to those who ruin kings"

This is telling me to be slow when it comes to finding a love one and the blessing of parents is key.

Her Imperial Highness should be able to do what ever she wants. She is the wife of the Crown Prince of Japan, and the daughter in law of His Most Imperial Majesty, the Emperor of Japan.

She afterall will become Empress in the future.
There should be some kind of filial piety and practice of Confucian obeisance as well. Just as the grass bows to the wind, just as the son bows before the mother and the father, just as the wife bows before the husband, so too must the subject bow before the Emperor and his progeny.

Love Talk / Reply: Do You Believe in Love at First Sight?
February 08, 2008, 08:45:46 AM
I don't believe in love at first sight. I do believe that true love can form after continued exposure to someone who you had a physical and mental attraction to. Love, to me, forms over time. And pivotal to love, is children. A child is the culmination of love, it is the union of two peoples and their love for one another.

It is answered in the bible, actually.

Here are just some passages that I found (note* there are probably more references, these are just the ones that I found):

"The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back to where it rises."

-Ecclesiastes 1:5
Remark: In this excerpt, it is evident that the writers of the bible, despite their limited knowledge in the physics of the planets makes clear reference to the axial movement of the earth around the sun, and the 'setting' and 'rising' of the sun in this case is explained to us by the earth's rotation about its axis as it circumnavigates the solar system. What science explains to us in the present; was already explained and provided to us through the bible. In science, we can actually understand the Glories and Wondrous architecture of the Lord our God; who so made the Heavens and all the stars within and without.

"He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved."
-Psalm 104:5
Remark: It is evident that in this excerpt, the bible explained simply to those who were living in the time before the age of scientific discovery. However, this excerpt, in relation to the knowledge we have of today and the laws of physics, tells us about the spherical nature of the Earth. The world is round and within the core of the earth, like all the planets and stars that the Lord created in His vast universe, gravitational pull is a constant law. Gravity, will pull any mass towards the center; that is why the land is firm (without reference to tectonic plates; which in itself is relative to gravity and homeostasity of the earth), that is why trees are not uprooted and float to space; that is why we stay on land, that is why when we fall from high heights we shall therefore fall down. The foundation he has set, the gravitational laws, all the laws in physics were made and authored by him; it is only now that we can study or and uncover the the laws of physics, which were in constant motion and effect even before the Human Race came out of the earth.

"He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers.  He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. "
-Isaiah 40:22
Remark: Simply stated, yet it echoes the complexity of the heavens and the laws of motion; as what is provided to us by astronomy, physics, geochemistry, biology, chemistry etcetera, etcetera. This phrase makes it clear that the Lord sits above the circle that is the globe of earth; and this world is but one of the countless words that He has created in the Heavens. We are but one planet in this solar system within our local galaxy. The Lord has made billions upon billions upon billions (an unnumbered amount) of galaxies, which has countless amounts of solar systems within and without.

Who can deny the brilliance of the Lord, who can explain such complexity of his designs with such relative ease that even the simple-minded can understand and be humbled by the Brilliance of the Lord? This is afterall the same God that created our genetic chromosomes, which by its own right signifies and trumpets his unassailable brilliance!

It is the Lord God, with his brilliance and mastery that allows our genetic strands to be anti parallel so that there will be bi-directionality of the synthesis of DNA. It is HE who mandated and designed that there will be a 5 prime to 3 prime leading strand that will synthesize DNA with DNA polymerase I and there will be a 3 prime to 5 prime lagging strand that will join the templates vis-a-vis the DNA polymerase I. It was he that allows there to be TOW proteins to keep these strands together, allowing them to dimerize and thus allow the sequence of the Gamma complex to bind to the Beta-clamp which then allows the DNA polymerase I and DNA polymerase III to move up and down the strand to create new strands. The Lord God was so brilliant that he even knew that the Beta clamp will bind to the DNA polymerase, however he knew that if the beta clamp will not disassociate with the dna polymerase, the polymerase will not stop; so he designed the Gamma complex fragment, which binds with the beta clamp; and when this does, allows the beta clamp to disassociate with the DNA polymerase. With this system in motion, lagging strands can now be formed, but he also knows that the dNAG-Primase will keep the discountinous strands from forming, so thus he designed and formed the DNA ligase, a protein that will join the okizaki fragments (the lagging strands) and thus synthesis occurs. Yet the Lord knows that our nucleotides are prone to mutations, because of oxidative and amino-acid faults; that is why he made it sure that the DNA polymerase I and DNA polymerase III have an exonucleative activity that in the 3 prime to 5 prime direction, which is responsible for proofreading any mistakes in our base-pairs and any faults within the nucleotides of our genetic sequence. Without the presence of this 3' to 5' exonucleative capability, we would be prone to genetic mutanogenisis by 10,000 fold!! He allows the DNA to keep from touching each other because he designed the SSBps (Single stranded binding proteins), which aids the DNA Helicase in unwinding the duplex; which is in front of the Topoisomerase (Gyrase), which is responsible for releasing the superhelical coil and thus allowing the loosening of the DNA fragments. Thus it replicates!

HOW GREAT is the LORD GOD that he knew this! that he designed THIS! Eons, of eons of eons before even the rise of the first reptile, before the rise of the dinosaurs, the mammals and before the rise of man!!

Lord, HOW GREAT are you, with your brilliance!!

Who can deny the existence of God? He makes himself PRESENT everyday, every moment, every second, every billionth of a second when your genetic codes are being replicated non-stop!

Love Talk / When arguing with your friends
February 08, 2008, 07:45:01 AM
When you argue with your friends about something, please keep a sense of forgiving in your heart. Petty things such as owing money, girls, boys, parties, pride etc is not worth ruining a strong friendship over. Friendship is a gift and it is in your friends that you can hide your secrets or get comfort in times of need. In reality, your friends are an extension of your own persona. Be kind to them, and forgive them for their transgressions as they forgive you for yours.

And remember, real friends are there for you; through thick or thin.

One random memory of my xgf;

It was July 2004, we went to Washington Lake Park and went kayaking with some friends. We got lost as we hit a gorge and were separated from our group of friends; ning panic baya to siya pero I stayed calm and put my arms around her and gave her a kiss. Hahahaha, i can still remember feeling her breathing rate calm down. We spent our entire afternoon sitting underneath the pine trees that day.
Pero our friends were angry at us because I didn't answer my cell phone when they were trying to get a hold of us; they did not know that I personally turned the cell off :)

Love Talk / Reply: For MEN Only
February 08, 2008, 07:15:07 AM
haha!

Its very complicated, actually, Ginger. Sometimes I get clingy or seem very interested with a woman because I find something very interesting in her, or something about her intrigues me. I get clingy to her because I want to know more about her, to see if she and I have similar interests, tastes, etc. Or sometimes I get clingy to a woman because I feel lonely-and its just a way to express a sense of frustration. Sometimes I get clingy because I miss that person, per se, w haven't seen each other or talked to each other for a while.

However, I feel disinterested in her if she gets too clingy as well. It feels almost hypocritical, but I don't know why but its just the way it is for me and for other men in my position. Specifically, if I find out that if a particular woman who I'm interested in has some very strong vices that I never knew about or if she hid them from me, then I loose any interest I had on her, immediately. Because whenever I am serious with a woman, I open myself to her completely. Take for example, one girl who I dated like a month ago never told me that she a boyfriend when we were dating. Apparently, she told me during our dinner date that she wanted to 'see' other people while in college and that is why she is 'on-and-off' with her bf. I totally and absolutely lost interest in her there and then. Her moral values were not as similar to that of mine; who was to say she would not cheat again or cheat etc etc. I am also dis-interested by women who are too sexual, or to 'uwag-uwag-on'. I am very conservative in this; tho I joke around with friends, I never ever show my sexuality or sexual frustration in public or do I flaunt it to friends etc. For me, sex etc is a private matter and should be kept in the private life for only the spouse or partner. These are some issues that compel me to loose interest in a particular woman.

I guess you can say that I'm the conservative and traditional type. The bastion of the male machismo is still intact, open to sensuality, but not too open. If that even makes any sense..lol!

In the mountains (because im living in the mountains, my college is located in Northwestern Pennsylvania, in the middle of the Appalachian) here are the pros and cons.
Pros: Beautiful and totally unexplainable view of the mountains, the fauna, the streams and rivers. Natural beauty is within your grasp.

Cons: Distance from the civilized world. It is too quiet in the mountains, and distance from town to town can be as long as 30-50 miles. There is a definite lack of diversity. It is difficult to find another Filipino, as most of the inhabitants of the mountain states and cities are of European descent.

In the beach.

Pros: Family, culture, civilization, beautiful view, comforts of living
Cons: Gets very hectic in summer time; hurricanes and typhoons.

Either way, I would choose the area where my family is. :)
Sacrifices are meant to be made, I would easily sacrifice my own comforts in order to be unified with my mother, father, brothers and my sister. Family comes first, after God.

Bible Study / The Rich Man
February 08, 2008, 05:12:03 AM

As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt down before him,
and asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
Jesus answered him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.
You know the commandments: 'you shall not kill; you shall not commit adultery;
you shall not steal; you shall not bear false witnesses; you shall not defraud;
honor your father and your mother.'"

He replied and said to him, "Teacher, all of these I have observed from my youth."

Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him,
"You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to the poor and you will
have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."

And at that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions.

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How Hard it is for those who have wealth to enter
the Kingdom of God!" The disciples were amazed at his words. So Jesus again said to them in reply,
"Children, how hard it is to enter the Kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye
of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God."

They were exceedingly astonished and said among themselves, "Then who can be saved? "
Jesus looked at them and said, "For human beings it is impossible, but not for God. All things
are possible for God."

Peter began to say to him, "We have given up everything and followed you,"
Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers
or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the
gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age:
Houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecution,
and eternal  life in the age to come.
"But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first."

Jesus went around to all the towns and villages,
teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the Kingdom
and curing every disease and illness.

At the sight of the crowds, His heart was moved with pity for them,
because they were troubled and abandoned,
Like sheep without a shepherd.

Then HE said to his disciples, "The Harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
So ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for this harvest."

I have a gut feeling that this is definitely gang related; one of the major problems the Canadian government is having a problem is gang violence, particularly Asian-related gangs in Canada. When i was in Toronto 3 years back to visit my Titas and my cousins there, we passed by Scarborough area and noticed immediately the presence of Vietnamese gangs and also Filipino gangs over there. They fight over mundane things such as 'national pride' or drug dealings.

Bible Study / He Forgives Egypt
February 07, 2008, 08:14:35 PM
Because the Lord is not deaf to those who call upon him, and because his mercies are from Everlasting to Everlasting, He forgives Egypt and all her people. He Humbles the great and strong so that they become meek. You spared Egypt despite their transgressions, merciful even unto those who are wicked.

The Word of the Lord,

(Ezekiel 29)

Says the Lord God:
At the end of the forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and I will restore Egypt's fortune, bringing them back to the land of Pathros, and the land of their origin. Where it will be the lowliest of kingdoms, never more to set it above the nations. I will make them few, that they do not dominate the nations. No longer shall they be for the house of Israel to trust in, but the living reminder of its guilt for having turned to follow after them. THUS, they shall know that I AM the Lord.

Bible Study / Dirge over Pharaoh
February 07, 2008, 08:01:25 PM
(Ezekiel 31)

On the first day of the twelfth month in the twelfth year, the word of the Lord came to me:
Son of man, utter a lament over Pharaoh, the King of Egypt, saying to him: Lion of the Nations! you are destroyed!

You were like a monster in the sea,
spouting in your streams,
stirring the water with your feet
and churning its streams.

Thus, says the Lord God:

I will spread my net over you and draw you up in the seine.
I will leave you on the land;
on the open field I will cast you.
i will have allt he birds of the air alight on you,
and all the beasts on the earth their fill on  you.

I will leave your flesh on the mountains,
and fill the valleys with your carcass.
I will water the land with what flows from you,
and the river SHALL be red.
When I snuff you out I will cover the heavens,
and all their stars I will darken.
The sun I  will cover with clouds,
and the moon shall not give its light
All the shining lights in the heavens I will darken on your account,
And I WILL spread darkness over your land.

In your pride you sing to yourself; as you harm My people
Nay, I will cut down your horde with the blades of warriors,
all of them the most ruthless of the nations

When I turn Egypt into a waste, the land shall be devasted of all that is in it.
When I strike all who live there, they shall know that I am the Lord.
This is a dirge, and it shall be sung: the daughters of the nations shall chant it;
over Egypt and all its hordes shall they chant it,
Says The Lord.

Bible Study / Egypt the Crocodile!
February 07, 2008, 07:46:38 PM
(Ezekiel 29)

On the twelfth day of the tenth month of the tenth year, the word of the Lord came to me: Son of man set your face against Pharaoh, King of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt! Say this to him: Thus says the Lord God:

See! I am coming at you, Pharaoh,
King of Egypt!
Great crouching monster
amids your Niles
Who say, "The Niles are mine! it is I who made them!

I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your Nile stick to your scales, then draw upon from the midst of your NIles along with all the fish of your Niles sticking to your scales.

Thus says the Lord God:

I will cast you into the desert,
you and all the fish of your NIles;
you shall fall upon the open field,
you shall not be taken up or buried;
To the BEAST of the Earth and the birds of the air
I give y ou as food,
That all who dwell in Egypt may know that I am Lord.

Because you have been a reed staff for the house of Israel:
When they hold you in hand, you splintered, when they leaned on you, you broke,
bringing each one of them down headlong

Therefore says the Lord God:
See! I will bring the sword against you and cut off from you both man and beast. The land of Egypt shall become a desolate waste; thus they SHALL know that I am Lord.

Because you said, "The Niles are mine; it is I who mad them," therefore see! I am coming at you and against your Niles; I will make the land of Egypt a waste and a desolation from Migdol to Syene, and even to the frontier of Ethiopia!

Aleph:

Do not be provoked by evildoers; do not envy those who do wrong. Like grass they wither quickly; like green plants they wilt away.

Beth:

Trust in the Lord and do good that you may dwell in the land and live secure. Find your delight in your Lord your God, who will give you your heart's desire.

Gimel:

Commit your way to the Lord; trust that God will act and make your integrity shine like the dawn, your vindication like noonday

Daleth:

Be still before the Lord; wait for God.
Do not be provoked by the prosperous, nor by the malicious schemers

He:

Give up your anger, abandon your wrath; do not be provoked; it brings only harm. Those who do evil will be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord will possess the land.

Waw:

Wait a little, and the wicked will be no more; look for them and they will not be there. But the poor will possess the land, will delight in great prosperity.

Zayin:

The wicked plot against the just and grind their teeth at them; BUT the Lord laughs at them, knowing their day is coming.

Heth:

The wicked draw their swords; they string their bows to fell the poor and the oppressed, to slaughter those whose way is honest. Their swords will pierce their own hearts; their bows will be broken.

Teth:

Better the poverty of the just than the great wealth of the wicked. The arms of the wicked will be broken; the Lord will sustain the just.

Yodh:

The Lord watches over the days of the blameless; their heritage lasts forever. They will not be disgraced when times are hard; in days of famine they will have plenty.

Kaph:

The wicked perish, the enemies of the Lord; like the beauty of meadows they vanish; like smoke they disappear.

Lamedh:

The wicked borrow but do not repay; the just are generous in giving. For those blessed by the Lord will possess the land, but those accursed will be cut off.

Mem:

Those whose steps are guided by the Lord; whose way God approves, may stumble, but they will never fall, for the Lord holds their hand.

Nun:

Neither in my youth, nor now in old age have I ever seen the just abandoned or their children begging bread. The just always lend generously, and their children become a blessing.

Samekh:

Turn from evil and do good, that ou may inhabit the land forever. For the Lord loves justice and does not abandon the faithful.

Pe:

The mouth of the just utter wisdom; their tongues speak what is right. God's teachings is in their hearts; their steps do not falter.

Sadhe:

The wicked spy on the just and seek to kill them. But the Lord does not leave the just in their power, nor let them be condemned when tried.

Qoph:

Wait eagerly for the Lord, and keep to the way; God will raise you to possess the land; you will gloat when the wicked are cut off.

Shin:

Observe the honest, mark the upright; those at peace with God have a future.

Taw:

The salvation of the Just is from the LORD, their refuge in times of distress. The Lord helps and rescues them, rescues and saves them from the wicked, because in GOD they take refuge.

Do not reprove me with your anger, Lord
nor punish me in your wrath.
Have pity on me, Lord, for I am weak;
heal me, Lord, for my bones are trembling

In utter terror is my soul
and you, Lord, how long?
Turn, Lord, save my life;
in your mercy, rescue me.
For who among the dead remembers you?
Who praises you in Sheol?

I am wearied with sighing;
all night long tears drench my bed;
my couch is soaked with weeping.
My eyes are dimmed with sorrow,
worn out because of all my foes

Away from me, all who do evil!
The Lord has heard my weeping
The Lord has heard my prayer;
the Lord takes up my plea
Blessed be the Lord

Answer when I call, my saving God
In my troubles, you cleared a way;
show me favor; hear my prayer

How long will you people mock my honor,
love what is worthless, chase after lies?

Know that the Lord works wonders for the faithful;
the Lord hears when I call out
Tremble, and do not sin!
upon your beds ponder in silence

Offer fitting sacrifices and trust in the Lord

Many say, "May we see better times!
Lord, show us the light of your face!

But you have given my heart more joy

The words of Lemuel, King of Massa, the advice which his mother gave him:

What, my son, my first born!
what, o son of my womb;
what, o son of my vows!

Give not  your vigor to women,
nor your strength to those who ruin kings

It is not for the kings, O Lemuel,
not for the kings to drink wine;
strong drink is not for princes!

Lest in drinking they forget what the law decrees,
and violate the rights of all who are in need

Give strong drink to one who is perishing,
and wine to the sorely depressed;
When they drink, they will forget their misery,
and think no more of their burdens

Open your mouth in behalf of the dumb,
and for the rights of the destitute;
Open your mouth, decree what is Just,
defend the needy and the poor

O! Dispenser of India's destiny, thou art the ruler of the minds of all people
Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, the Maratha country,
in the Dravida country, Utkala (Orissa) and Bengal;
It echoes in the hills of the Vindhyas and Himalayas,
it mingles in the rhapsodies of the pure waters of Jamuna and the Ganges.
They chant only thy name.
They seek only thy auspicious blessings.
They sing only the glory of thy victory.
The salvation of all people waits in thy hands,
O! Dispenser of India's destiny, thou art the ruler of the minds of all people
Victory to thee, Victory to thee,
Victory, Victory, Victory, Victory to thee!

Lupang Hinirang

This one reduced me to tears, simply beautiful.

Bayang magiliw
Perlas ng Silanganan,
Alab ng puso,
Sa dibdib mo'y buhay.

Lupang Hinirang,
Duyan ka ng magiting,
Sa manlulupig,
Di ka pasisiil.

Sa dagat at bundok,
Sa simoy at sa langit mong bughaw,
May dilag ang tula
At awit sa paglayang minamahal.
Ang kislap ng watawat mo'y
Tagumpay na nagniningning,
Ang bituin at araw niya
Kailan pa ma'y di magdidilim.
Lupa ng araw, ng luwalhati't pagsinta,
Buhay ay langit sa piling mo;
Aming ligaya, na pag may mang-aapi
Ang mamatay nang dahil sa iyo

(Translation)

Land of the morning,
Child of the sun returning,
With fervor burning,
Thee do our souls adore.
Land dear and holy,
Cradle of noble heroes,
Ne'er shall invaders
Trample thy sacred shore.
Ever within thy skies and through thy clouds
And o'er thy hills and sea,
Do we behold the radiance, feel and throb,
Of glorious liberty.
Thy banner, dear to all our hearts,
Its sun and stars alight,
O never shall its shining field
Be dimmed by tyrant's might!
Beautiful land of love,
O land of light,
In thine embrace 'tis rapture to lie,
But it is glory ever, when thou art wronged,
For us, thy sons to suffer and die.

The Star Spangled Banner

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGxraHluQBk

O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O thus be it ever when free-men shall stand
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust!”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

When Britain First at Heaven's Command
Arose from out the azure main
Arose, Arose, Arose from out the azure main
This was the charter, the charter of the land
And guardian angels sang the strain

Rule Britannia, Britannia Rule the waves
Britons never never never, shall be slaves.

Rule Britannia, Britannia Rule the waves
Britons never never never, shall be slaves.

As much as Americans love to pride themselves as being the Global Hyper Power, China's indisputable rise in terms of military defense spending, as well as its economic growth of 10% annually is more than enough to shake the bearings of any American skeptic or economist.

China is the answer to American Military Hyperpowerdom.

America's goal is to secure its control over the world and maintain the status quo; China's main goal is:
1. Re-unify Taiwan with the Chinese motherland
2. Surge ahead and replace the United States as the World's Hyper Power

The Chinese word for China is "Zhong Guo", which is translated as 'The Middle Kingdom' or in strict confucian ideology, it translates as 'The Land between Heaven and Earth'.

There is no other nation in this Earth that the United States fears; all nations are considered 'squats' to the American power house. Except one country. China.

The American military high command know full well that the chains that it has on China will not and cannot last for long. There will be a time, where China's military might as well as economic might will surpass that of the United States.

We can only hope that China does not manifest an Expansive policy.

At least 27 people have been killed and dozens injured by violent tornadoes in four southern US states.

The twisters hit Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky at the end of a day of Super Tuesday nominating votes for November's presidential election.

A huge fire erupted at a natural gas pumping station in Tennessee that may have been damaged by the storms.

In the same state, students were trapped under rubble in their dormitory after a tornado made the roof cave in.

The US National Weather Service said at least six tornadoes had touched down in the 100 miles (160km) between Jackson and Oxford, Mississippi.

read more here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7229821.stm

Yes, this is a yearly problem for the tornado belt, mostly in the lowland Midwest. It not only is the agricultural capital of this country, but due to its flat plains as well as due to the interjections of warm and cold fronts, formation of tornados are a natural phenomenon. Eve during the age of the Native Americans, the Cherokees, which used to dominate this region, documented vis-a-vis oral folklore about tornadoes or in the local Cherokee colloquial diction, "Wind Spirits"

My condolences to those who were affected.

Valencia - Bohol / Atty Dionisio D. Balite, Ph.D
February 05, 2008, 08:08:12 AM

Atty. Dionisio D. Balite, Ph.D.
Third Congressional District, Provincial Board Member

On April 8, 1941, I saw the first light of day at barangay Cansibao, Valencia, Bohol, the
4th child of Marcos Tapitan Balite of Cansibao, Valencia, Bohol and Ciriaca Salarda
Dajalos (deceased) of Calma, G-Hernandez, Bohol.

As a child, raring for educational knowledge, I was able to finish my elementary education
at the Valencia Elementary School in 1954 as 1st honorable mention. My secondary education was completed in 1958 at the Valencia High School as salutatorian of the whole graduating class.

My parents could not afford to send me to college, but my thirst of acquiring higher educational attainment drove me to pursue this dream, thus I work my way towards college as a striver of then Rafael Palma College, now University of Bohol.

By sweating it out, I was able to acquire the following college courses: Associate in Arts,
with highest honors; Elementary Teachers’ Certificate, with highest honors; Bachelor of
Arts, Magna Cum Laude; Bachelor of Science in Education, Magna Cum Laude; Bachelor
of Laws, not to mention the Advance ROTC course; Local Administration and Development Program at U. P.; Master of Arts, Summa Cum Laude, and Doctor of Philosophy, Benemeritus.

With the acquired knowledge I got from the learning institutions, I was able to pass the
following government examinations: 2nd Grade Civil Service Examination, 1960; Adjutant
General Classification Test, 1965; Bar Examinations, 1966; Teacher’s Board Examination,
1973; Career Civil Service Examination (Professional), 1974.

With regards to my work experiences, I have to enumerate first my experiences in the educational institution: I worked as a Janitor-Clerk at the Registrar’s Office of the University
of Bohol, then Rafael Palma College from 1958-1960; Chief Clerk at the same office and
school from 1960-1961; Asst. Registrar, same office and school from 1961-1962. In search
for a greener pasteur, I transferred to the St. James College (now PMI Colleges) and
worked as the Registrar from 1962-1968; Assistant Director same school from 1968-1968; and ultimately, the school director of the same school from 1969-1971. Lastly, I served at
the University of Bohol as a faculty member from 1980-1981.

In the Socio-Civic-Religious Organizations: I served as a Deputy Grand Knight, K of C, Council No. 3290; Grand Knight, K of C, Council No. 6262 from 1985-1987; Deputy
Diocesan Datu, Virgen Sang Barangay, 1982-1988; President, Valencia Parish Pastoral Council, 1976-1980; President, Philippine Amateur Track & Field Association, 1987-1990; Vice-President, Integrated Bar of the Philippines (Bohol Chapter), 1985-1986.

I also had experience in the Private Corporations being a legal Counsel of the Consuelo Limestone Corporation from 1978-1991; Legal Counsel also of the Jagna Arrastre and Terminal Services, Inc. from 1974-1979.

In the Political Arena I had a very long years of experiences in this area. To start, I was a municipal councilor of our town in Valencia, Bohol at a tender age of 22 years from 1963-
1967; Municipal Mayor of the same town from 1972-1980; OIC Kagawad, Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol from 1986-1988; Barangay Captain of my barangay of Cansibao,
Valencia, Bohol from 1989-1992; Federated ABC President, Municipality of Valencia,
Bohol from 1989-1992; Federated ABC President, Province of Bohol from 1989-1992; Federated ABC President of Region VII, 1989-1992; Kagawad, Sangguniang Panlalawigan
of Bohol, 1989-1992; Secretary General, Pambansang Katipunan ng mga Barangay,
Manila, 1989- 1992; Adviser-Consultant, Liga ng mga Barangay (Manila), 1992-1996; Executive Assistant II, Governor’s Office, Bohol, taking charge of Barangay Affairs, 1994-1995; Kagawad, Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol, 1995-1998; Director, Provincial
Board Members Association of the Philippines, 1995-1998; Provincial Senior Board

:) It will be hard to break my TB addiction, jud, Ate Ging.

I will try to stop by here and then. Ate Ging, im just an average student uy, nothing special about me. You, and I and all of our Boholanos in here are equal jud. :) In the eyes of our Lord, we are all equal, brothers and sisters of faith. Diba?

And you are a successful and intelligent woman, who has been gifted with not only smarts, but humility and faith. What more can a person ask for. :)

God Bless you, Ate Ging.

Big Hugs,
