I don't feel like I'm Inabangnon coz wala man ko nagdako didto. But Inabangnons are close to my heart coz my mom's side of the family all trace their roots back to Inabanga. Also, kaming mga parente sa Mindanao, daghan mi nagpuyo same town, and they're all from Inabanga. So I hear (or used to hear) the Inabangnon accent all the time.

I have one funny story bahin ani. I was in college adtong panahona, gikan pa ko abot sa barko from Cbu to CDO, I learned that my mom was on a retreat with her charismatic group, unya ang ga handle kay kadtong pari nga guapo gyud kaayo (I forgot his name). I offered to pick my mom up at the retreat house kay para pud makit-an nako si Pader.  

Pag-abot na nako didto, nag atang akong mama sa gawas kay nahuman na daw ilang retreat. Since I saw that almost everyone had left, I assumed that Pader was gone too. Gisugo ko ni mama to pick up some things nga iyang nakalimtan sa kitchen. Just as I was about to leave, sus ni abli man na ang purtahan sa CR, and out came Pader Guapo, almost naked with only a teeny weeny towel around his waist. We stood there staring at each other, we were both so shocked! Unya naka balik ug ahat si Pader sa CR, gi sira gyud niya ang purtahan balik. I felt bad coz obvious kaayo sa iyang reaction that he was sooo embarrassed. In fairness, he is one of a handful of priests that I admire and respect kay "holy" gyud siya. He only has room in his heart for God.

Pero grabe oi, macho ug guapo gyud si Pader! And that was the first time ever nga nakakita ko'g male specie nga naka tualya ra! Wahahaha! Igat gyud!

That scene was frozen in my mind when it happened. The girl was soooo pretty, that it created a drastically contrasting picture with the old, wrinkly woman sitting on the sidewalk. Now, I don't know if that was the kindest act I ever witnessed but it's certainly the one I remember best.

Hahaha! Na igo ko ani da, esp #2...kahibaw na akong banana nga kung moingon ko'g 5 minutes (when I have to get ready coz we have to go somewhere), it's more of a figurative statement. He's learned not to take it literally. 

Oh! I know her! Everyone at school (SWU) did. We were all in awe of her. I saw her occasionally in campus, where I would just freeze and stare at her. It is true, it is so rare to find a person who is not only beautiful but also has a brilliant mind. I remember a story my friend told me, who was Vanessa Joyce's classmate in med school. On the very first day of their 1st yr in med school, they were given a very tough Anatomy & Physiology test. Everyone was complaining kay halos bagsak sila tanan. And these were not average students, these were all smart and ambitious people who were very competitive. When the scores were announced, shock sila tanan kay ang score ni Vanessa Joyce kay 98 or 99, basta almost perfect! Unya ang na 2nd best na score na dayon was in the 60's. Layo ra gyud kaayo'g gap. From then on, she achieved almost legendary status sa tibuok skwelahan. They all knew she was in a league of her own.

It is so amazing that everyone in her family is an achiever. So remarkable.
