What I realize that a lot of physicians have overlooked is the opportunity in health consulting , or medical training consulting. I am surprised to know that a clinical health educational consultant  "part time" makes around $120,000 - $130,000. This is an excellent opportunity for medical doctors to share their health expertise on the educational sector.

I guess one can combine education and clinical opportunities this way. A good 'side' income pod he he he ;D

Today I had a talk with the instructor for BNA (basic nursing assistant) who works in my department. We had issues regarding students' drug testing. Apparently some of her students were attending clinical sites without finalizing their drug test reports, which is in violation of school policy and procedure. I had to sit down this instructor and tell her of this.

Rarely do I have to do this where I get serious with the instructors in the department, however, today was that day for me.

I then had to talk to that student and inform him of how he cannot attend clinical orientation prior to finalizing drug screen tests.

Sus...intawon... :o

I'm leading more closer to the Health Education Consultant position because this will enable me to start my medical internship at Mercy Medical and at the same time, be able to do health educational consulting.
Thank You, Lord, for this blessing and opportunity...

The saying is true, "When God shows you with opportunities, you must choose wisely..."

Today I received a call from Northshore Health Systems, one of the largest health systems in Chicago with an offer for Health Education Consultant position. This afternoon, I also received an email and then a phone call from a hiring manager from the City Colleges of Chicago for their vacant tenure-leading Professor of Physician Assistant studies.

I asked for opportunities in health education and God answers me with Heaven's blessings...Thanks Lord!

;D

Now, the hard part...making the right choice.

This afternoon is a good one, filling up the last things for this particular course that I'm attending. I've also discussed to the Dean of the university of my pondering on resigning as the Director of the Department of Allied Health and General Education. I've been accepted for an internship position at Mercy Medical Center and I'm quite excited.

The Dean, whom I've befriended these past few months now, wanted me to reconsider my decision. She offered me, instead of resigning completely, to go part time as an Adjunct Professor of Medical Surgical class and Pharmacology. I told her I will consider it, however, have reiterated my acceptance of the Internship.

Decisions, decisions, decisions...

Historical Systems In Medical Psychiatry

There is a clear dichotomy between existential psychology and psychoanalysis that is utilized by a psychodynamic psychologist. Existential psychology deals with the belief that there is an inner conflict within a person and this is due to the inner conflict, confrontation due to existence. The four givens as explained in existential psychology are: death, freedom, isolation and meaninglessness.  Problems arise because people generally want to have a meaning in their lives or in other’s lives. Psychopathologies arise because of the inability to deal with the anxiety that arises due to the givens (Hergenhahn, 2009).

A Freudian therapist who specializes in psychoanalysis is trained identifying the factors that cause the intrapsychic tension in individuals and as a result of this tension have caused the abnormality in behavior and cognition (Hergenhahn, 2009). The goal in psychoanalysis is to identify the conflict between the conscious and the unconscious that results in mental disturbances and to release this said intrapsychic tension (Hergenhahn, 2009) and to identify the irrational drives, which are unconscious (Zaretsky, 2013).

To address the situation of a patient having anxiety, the existential psychologist and the psychoanalyst would address the issue and treat it in different perspectives. The existential psychologist would stress the importance of making changes in the present and make behavioral changes to effect the future (Hergenhahn, 2009). The psychoanalyst, however, would be different because he would follow the tenets of psychoanalytic psychotherapy and would do everything to identify the past insult, a specific time and action that caused the psychological injury, and by doing this, can lead to the release of the intrapsychic tension. An article written by Espinoza (2010) discussed the techniques of psychotherapy and how it has shaped understanding of human behavior, disorders of behavior and how these disorders can be corrected by going back to earlier moments in time , identifying the past insult. There are benefits in identifying the past stressor in effective remuneration of the mental strain.

The identification of the stressor leads to cognitive behavioral change, and thus, effect psychodynamic change on patient cognitive pathology. The treatment plan, through psychoanalytic psychotherapy, can lead to the extinction of abnormal cognition and mental strain. One should also take into consideration the necessity of psychotropic medication for individuals who are refractory to said therapeutic processes.

Dear brothers and sisters, the Ascension does not indicate the absence of Jesus, but tells us that He is alive among us in a new way; He is no longer in a definite place in the world as He was before the Ascension; He is now in the lordship of God, present in all space and time, next to each of us. We are never alone in our lives: We have this advocate who waits for us, we are never alone, the Crucified and Risen Lord guides us, and with us there are many brothers and sisters who in silence and obscurity, in their family life and work, in their problems and difficulties, their joys and hopes, live their faith every day and, together with us, bring to the world the lordship of God's love.

today was a day of contemplation as there are a great many things that require my decision on life choices. i trust in God's providence and guidance and that He will lead me in decisions. In my life, I had always taken the notion that i was the master of my own life, however, it is not necessarily so. I place my total dependence on God's divine providence and insurmountable presence in this poor man's life. For it is He who truly is in control, all the time.

that said, i look forward to a good day ahead.

O Mother of Perpetual Help, behold me a miserable sinner at thy feet; I have recourse to thee and put my trust in thee. O Mother of Mercy have pity upon me. I hear thee called by all the refuge and the hope of sinners, be then my refuge and my hope. Help me for the love of Jesus Christ; stretch forth thy hand to me, who recommend and dedicate myself to thee as thy perpetual servant. I bless and thank GOD for having in His mercy given to me this confidence in thee, the pledge as I believe of my eternal salvation. Alas! Too often in past times have I miserably fallen, because I had not recourse to thee! I know that with thy help I shall conquer. I know that thou will help me if I recommend myself to thee; but i fear lest in the occasions of falling I should cease to call upon thee and so should lose my soul. This, then, is the grace I seek from thee; and I conjure thee, as far as I know how and can, to obtain it for me; namely, in the assaults of hell always to have recourse to thee and to say to thee: O Mary help me; Mother of Perpetual Help, suffer me not to lose my God.

Holy Mary, assist the miserable, help the faint hearted, cheer those that weep, pray for the people be the advocate of the clergy, intercede for all devout woman; let all feel thine aid who implore thy perpetual help.

V. Thou has been for us, Our Lady, a refuge.

The practice, in which teens show affection by licking their partner's eyeballs, may have started with a scene in a music video released last year from the Japanese band Born, which features a dramatic slow-motion scene of oculolinctus, ABC News reported.

But experts are concerned that even if oculolinctius is done sparingly or on a dare, it could have very real consequences.

Dr. Robert Cykiert, an associate professor in the department of ophthalmology at the New York University Langone Medical Center, said the surface of a healthy eye is normal mostly sterile, while the mouth is filled with bacteria and food particles.

Cykier warns that when you get licked on the eye, you're transferring dangerous bacteria to the eye, so it's a very dangerous trend.

He said transferring bacteria to the eye leaves people with a higher risk of contracting conjunctivitis or, more seriously, a corneal ulcer .

Filial piety is an expression which everyone should know, yet it is not a common American phrase.  Many Americans are very likely to have never even heard of this phrase, though it conveys an universal theme.  But most importantly, in comparison to the Chinese culture, relatively few Americans thoroughly comprehend its true meaning and significance, and therefore do not live by such a philosophy.

So what is filial piety?  Perhaps our Chinese readers will recognize it better as (xiao shun).  Anyway, filial piety basically describes the correct way to act towards one's parents.  Filial piety consists of several factors; the main ideas include loving one's parents, being respectful, polite, considerate, loyal, helpful, dutiful, and obedient.

Well, the Chinese, along with most other Asian cultures, are quite familiar with this concept, and for centuries, have lived by it.   Confucius considered filial piety an imperative moral conduct.  To the Chinese, it is the central ideology, and moreover, provides the foundation for all other attitudes.  One famous Chinese saying asks that if one does not have piety towards one's own parents, then how can one be loyal towards one's friends, country, or any other?

BEIJING (AP) â€" Mothers and fathers aren't the only ones urging adult children to visit their parents. China's lawbooks are now issuing the same imperative.

New wording in the law requiring people to visit or keep in touch with their elderly parents or risk being sued and facing penalties came into force Monday, as China faces increasing difficulty in caring for its aging population.

It remains to be seen how much the amended law changes the status quo, however. Elderly parents in China already have been suing their adult children for emotional support, and the new wording does not specify how often people must visit or clarify penalties for those who do not.

Have you ever felt that your sins were too great to forgive?  You shouldn't.  Christ's forgiveness can do some amazing things if you allow it to.

In this story, Jesus was sitting at a table in the Pharisee Simon's house when a sinful woman came and anointed Jesus' feet with oil.  Simon questioned Jesus, and Jesus responded in today's verse.

Jesus explained that because of the depth of this woman's sins, she would appreciate and love Christ that much more.  In other words, the greatest sinners become the most loving converts.

We can see other examples of this, as well.  St. Paul spent his days prior to his conversion actively persecuting Christians.  He went on to author much of the New Testament.  St. Peter denied Christ three times but went on to become of the Bishop of Rome.  There are many more stories just like these.

Moral of the story: do not let the depth of your sins keep you from seeking Christ's forgiveness; instead, allow it to foster an even greater love of your Savior.  Jesus loves you regardless of how deep your sins may go.

The deeper the sin, the deeper the forgiveness.  The deeper the forgiveness, the deeper the love for Christ.

"Simon, I have something to say to you."

"Tell me, teacher, " he said.

"Two people were in debt to a certain creditor; one owed five hundred day's wages and the other owed fifty. Since they were unable to repay the debt, he forgave it for both. Which of them will love him more?"

Simon said in reply, "The one, I suppose, whose larger debt was forgiven."

He said to him, "You have judged rightly."

Alternative treatment

Park, who studied and researched on alternative treatment, herbal medicines and stem cell therapy, also used the treatment to cure her lupus-stricken son, Planas said.

“I don’t claim it is the panacea of all illnesses nor will it respond similarly to another individual nor can it be a better treatment for another,” the former head of Nayong Pilipino and deputy spokesperson of the Arroyo administration said.

“One thing that I am very confident about is that the stem cells act as repair system of the body for those needing repair and act as replenishment for adult tissues,” she added.

The therapy allows the body to heal itself.

Very interesting indeed.
