i can appreciate this.  some habal-habal drivers may just be making themselves useful while waiting for better chances.  as they are, they're much better than those ne'er-do-well husbands who are not only jobless and non-earning, they also spend their days pickling their livers with liquor while their wives work themselves to death to keep their families afloat.  a habal-habal driver at least does an honest day's job.

one thing with pills is that i've known too many women who have developed allergies and had unwittingly changed the course of their health for the worse, such as getting obese, because of birth control pills.

the vet knew that i was resolute in not taking any advice of putting the dog to everlasting sleep, so she talked to my friends and relatives.  at that point, all my money was gone, yet i insisted on looking for more money to cope with the dog's medical expenses.  soon, friends, including nuns, visited me at the office.  slowly they prepared me for the worst.  it turned out that the vet had finally told them that my dog will never heal and that only the medicines and intravenous sustenance were what kept him alive.  the thoughtful vet was already worried about my expenses.

let go, let go, they told me.  i didn't go home; i spent the night at a friend's house and cried myself hoarse the day i finally let go of my dog.

yes, graze, it's terrible, terrible.  we owe it to ourselves to grieve.  it is our privilege.  but as long as we open ourselves to the grace of redemption, in time we manage to heal.  and move on.

who is to know, really?  bear attacks?  snake bites?  the wilderness of snow and ice or of desert sands?  rambo in the jungle?  truly a difficult question that may take a lifetime to answer, unless i am brought at once to the wilderness to find out, in which case nothing may be heard from me anymore.  

i haven't, although i must say i don't live by the clock as i don't think much of time throughout most of my day-to-day life, except when there are appointments.  (luckily, years of training and example by my banana republic had taught me to be truly scared of being late.)
