Sexual Purity

Wonderful Lord,

You have made us sexual beings and sex is a wonderful thing in the bonds of marriage. Right now, I still feel all of the urges that married men and women do, but I need Your strength to not act on them. I pray that You will help me to be a patient man/woman through my time being single. I don’t want to stain such a wonderful thing before I say “I do” in front of my future spouse. Give me strength and patience as I endure life by abstaining from sex until marriage. I want to honor my future spouse and You by doing so. I love You, Lord. Amen

In Affliction

Gracious Lord

Help me to remember that every trial that comes my way has already been known to You in advance. I know that You are with me. I memorize Your Word. I know that I am to be “patient in affliction” (Romans 12:12 NIV). I am grateful for all You have provided me and I need to always remember that You are in control. Lord, I am learning more every day to be content with life in the moment because You are showing me Your grace and mercy daily. I will persevere through these trials, Lord, because You are with me! Thank you for being patient with me as I am learning to be patient through my own afflictions. I love you, Father! Amen

Your Future Mate

Father in Heaven

You know my heart. I am ready to give my life to someone in marriage. I only want someone that You deem worthy, Lord. I will not settle for anything less! However, my strength is failing and I need You now more than ever. Help me to be patient as I wait for who You already have planned for me. When I am anxious I jump into bad decisions. I need Your hand in this, Father. So, take my hand as I walk as a single person for now. Lead me to the one You have planned for me. I pray that whomever it is that they are doing well today and that You bless them! I love You, Abba! Amen

Bible Study / 7 Good Prayers For Patience
July 10, 2013, 06:23:23 AM
Some say patience is a virtue and they are right, but more importantly we can learn about patience from a much higher power than human intuition. We know a God personally and His patience far exceeds our own. “The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) There are things in your life right now that are trying your patience. Please, tell God about it and let Him take your hand as He walks with you. Here are 7 prayers for different situations that require your patience.

Opportunities

Dear Lord, I pray today that I will yield my spirit completely to You, that You may use me as You please.  I pray that You will provide me opportunities to show people how much You mean to me.  Give me discretion to know what to say and how to say it.  Make me bold enough, that I may proclaim salvation cheerfully and joyfully.  I pray that the seeds You allow me to plant will grow and mature.  I pray that You, Father, will water the seeds that You allow me to plant today.  I am forever grateful for the cross; may I proclaim it in a contagious way today.  Amen.

“Do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself
or what you should say,
for the Holy Spirit will teach you
in that very hour what you ought to say.”

Luke 12:11b-12

Only the gospel ofJesus Christ breaks the cycle of human vengeance and violence. God for-
gives us first, not waiting for us to ask, and then makes loving appeal to
win our hearts and make friends out of enemies.

J. R. R. Tolkien’s trilogy,The Lord of the Rings, helps us to understand
Jesus’ difficult teaching. “The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many” is
the only line appearing in all three books and is, as Ralph Wood notes, the
“moral and religious center” of Tolkien’s story.

Bilbo Baggins, you re call,is the hobbit who vouchsafed the evil Ring after saving it from the de-
formed and wicked Gollum. Bilbo’s nephew, Frodo, remarks to the wise
wizard Gandalf, “What a pity that Bilbo did not stab that vile creature
when he had a chance!” “Pity? [Gandalf replies] It was Pity that stayed his
hand. Pity, and Mercy: not to strike without need. And he has been well
rewarded, Frodo. Be sure that [Bilbo] took so little hurt from the evil, and
escaped in the end, because he began his ownership of the Ring so. With
Pity.” Gandalf understands that Gollum deserves death and that he will
likely not be cured of his evil before he dies. Yet he says, “even the very
wise cannot see all ends.”

Likewise we must, as the Apostle Paul warns,
“leave room for the wrath of the God” who alone is able to see all ends
(Romans 12:19). We must not judge others ourselves.

Bilbo’s pity becomes a counter-cultural value that pervades the epic.
When at last the evil wizard Saruman is captured, the hobbits clamor for
his execution. Yet Frodo, having learned the power of the pity of Bilbo
from Gandalf, offers pardon to Saruman." It is useless to meet revenge
with revenge,” says Frodo; “it will heal nothing.” Pity and pardon are not
what Saruman wants, however.

We cannot be certain that our pity will bring about the transformation
of our enemies, but we know that it brings about ours and makes possible
theirs. If we do as Jesus commands, if we make peace with our enemies
by loving them, we can know at least that we are children of our heavenly
Father. We may not be perfectâ€"which means to be fully mature and com-
pletely true to our created natureâ€"but we will be more like our perfect
Father (Matthew 5:45, 48)

LOVING OUR ENEMIES

We wholeheartedly long for “the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding” that the Apostle Paul promises the Christians of Philippi
“will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (4:7). The peace
of God, our peace with God, is made possible by and experienced continu-
ally in Christ, the Prince of Peace. Yet it is not a personal privilege of the
privately pious. It is thrown into doubt every time we are confronted with
the choice of whether we will deal with our enemies as righteous warriors
or pitiful peacemakers.

I mean the word pitiful
in its noblest sense. To have pity is not to look
down on someone, but rather to look up at what that person might be if
it weren’t for the evil that has taken hold in the soul. It is to have mercy
upon another and to see, as we say, there but for the grace of God go I.
We try to identify with our enemy and imagine what it might be like to
live in that person’s skin. Only then do we act.

This is, after all, the kind of pity God has for you and me in Christ Je-
sus. God puts on the uniform of flesh and shares the injustices and insults
of all who make themselves our enemies. And yet Christ refuses to be his
enemies’ enemy. He sets himself against their hate by loving them instead.
Jesus practices what he preaches in a way few of us do. In the Sermon
on the Mount, he turns the values of the world on their head and shows
how our practices can be redemptive instead of retributive: “You have
heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your en-
emy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who perse-
cute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven” (Matthew
5:43-45a).

We don’t know where it was ever said, “You shall hate your enemy.”
Maybe it was one of those pieces of street wisdom that passed for Scrip-
ture right alongside “God helps those who help themselves.” But it does
befit our instinct for payback.

Contentment

Dear Glorious Father, I pray that I will stay focused on you today.  I pray that You will constantly remind me to be content in all of my circumstances.  I pray that You will fill me up that I may be joyful all day, even if stress creeps in.  I know that through my contentment, You will be glorified.  I want to honor You, Father, in all that I do.  I praise Your Holy Name!  Amen

“Not that I am speaking of being in need,
for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
I know how to be brought low,
and I know how to abound.
In any and every circumstance,
I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger,
abundance and need.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Philippians 4:11-13

Family

Dear Gracious Father, I praise You for my family.  Thank you for my spouse.  Even in his/her weaknesses, I love him/her unconditionally.  Thank you for my children. Every time I hear the pitter-patter of their feet across the house I smile.  Joy overwhelms me Father!  Be with my family today as they go their separate ways.  Bring us all back home safely to each other I pray.  Amen.

“Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots around your table.”

Psalm 128:3

Strength

Dear Lord, I pray that you would give me strength to be strong for You in the world today.  Lord, you know the struggles that I will face today.  Be with me as I go through them.  Carry me if I am too weak to move.  If I stumble in them, forgive me Father.  When I succeed in them, I will praise You!  You are worthy of all praise and honor.  Amen.

“My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Psalm 73:26

Being Thankful

Dear Lord, thank you so much for another day of life on Earth.  Thank you for another beautiful sunrise to enjoy.  Thank you for the wonderful sounds of nature, from the cool breeze brushing through the trees to the birds singing melodies.  You are a wonderful God, full of grace and mercy.  I praise you for allowing me another day to spend with my family.  I love you Father!  Amen.

“The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come,
and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.”

Song of Solomon 2:12

Bible Study / A Prayer for Healing a Loved One
July 09, 2013, 02:37:04 PM
Tita Isles,

This prayer is for your sister.

________

All our times are in Thy hand.
All diseases come at Thy call, and go at Thy bidding.
Thou redeemest our life from destruction, and crownest us with loving kindness and tender mercies. We bless Thee, that Thou hast heard prayer, and commanded deliverances for our friend and Thy servant, who has been under Thine afflicting hand.

He (or she) was brought low, but Thou hast helped him (her). May he (she) not only live, but declare the works of the Lord!

As Thou hast delivered his eyes from tears, his feet from falling, and his soul from death, may he daily inquire:What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits towards me,and resolve to offer unto Thee the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and to call upon the name of the Lord.

May we ever remember that recovery is only a reprieve and that some day we will go to our rest in the Lord. May we therefore secure the righteous path and live with eternity ever in our view.

Amen.

thanks as ever, lorenz.  an aside, is it true that all our pets have to go when there's someone on chemo?

Not necessarily true, so long as the pets are vaccinated and free of kennel cough. Since your sister will be undergoing aggressive chemoradiation, which will target fast growing tissues such as cancer cells, bone marrow cells etc. Bone marrow cells are the source of red blood cells and white blood cells. so, since she will have a deficiency of blood cells (white and red) this is called Pancytopenia (total decrease in blood cells). Since she will have decreased white blood cells, she will be immunocompromised, so she will be susceptible to pathogens. She must rest at home, in a clean and sterile environment, reduce interaction with people who are sick.

If your pets are vaccinated and healthy, then they might be of therapeutic use. I have treated cancer patients who were undergoing chemoradiation and they kept their dogs and cats with them. it helped them cope, and helped them reduce their stress. provided comfort as well.

That said, just make sure the kitties and doggies are vaccinated, Tita.

Will be praying for your sister.

right now there's an aching pit in my stomach.  i learned a few hours ago that my sister's post-mastectomy biopsy shows a need for chemo.  we talked on the phone; she asked me to make some research on the laboratory results that she was holding.  i refused.  i said to leave it to the doctor who she'll be seeing this afternoon.

i'm prepared, she said.  i'm going to work again very soon.  if i have to lose all my hair, then i'll wear the most fashionable headdresses around, she added.

way to go, i answered.  i'll help you by making the best that i could, complete with flowers and butterflies.  but i cried soon after i put off my phone.

remain positive and be a supporting force in her life, isles. i would also like to add that it would be beneficial to your sister to not work during this time, especially when she is undergoing chemoradiation, it is best that she rest and avoid anything that will increase stress.

i will pray for your sister.

di pa tantong luag ang tornilyo. dili dad-on sa psychiatric ward.

mag pa dentist lang hinoon ko. kay hapit na mahorot ahong ngipon

On a serious note, patients with manic depression who manifest with audio visual hallucinations are serious threats to themselves and to others around them. Thus, it is important that they be taken to a psychiatric department and be placed under surveillance and given antipsychotic medication. Daghan tawo nga wa gitreatan kai wa gi diagnose or misdiagnosed.

My posting was a general statement regarding any individuals manifesting symptoms and signs with bipolar disorder, this statement was not meant to offend any certain individuals here.

Please don't take anything out of context.

Kindly,
I remain,

there are many variables that we have to consider and i cannot completely give a proper clinical consult without seeing the lab values and blood profile result. prophylactic low dose chemo is just to ensure any neoplastic cells remaining in her uterine apparatus will be eradicated. as of now, they have to wait to find out the biopsy results if there are any residual neoplastic tissues that are causing the beta-hcg.

Raquel,

After D and C's, its normal to follow up for the next 6 months after the procedure to see your beta-hcg levels, abnormally high beta hcg levels indicate multiple pregnancy, molar pregnancy. Within time, your beta hcg levels will decrease and since these are proteins that have specific half lives, their levels have a gradual progression of decline. If your beta-hcg levels ,however, remain high, then this will be indicative to initiate chemoradiation to pulverize any remaining cancerous tissue, in this case, would be choriocarcinoma. It is also wise to heed your ob/gyn and radiologist/oncologist to evade pregnancy for the next year, especially in cases with patients who had a history of molar / partial molar pregnancy.

Regards.

Hmm:( kini pa jud akong nabasa. Walay pilion jud ning ovarian cancer.Gikan pa jud ko hospital mao pay paggawas kay nagbleeding ko week after gi d and c. Molar pregnancy ug next week pa mahibal sa biopsy result ug cancerous ba to or unsa ba.

That's right. In the event that diagnosis is hydatidiform mole, surgical curettage is done to vacate the uterine apparatus in order to prevent the development of choriocarcinoma, which is the cancer of the proto-placental tissue.

goodness me.  does this mean they didn't stand a chance?

in combating ovarian carcinoma, in the early stages, aggressive chemoradiation is opted.

For all types of ovarian cancer, the 5-year relative survival is 44%. Women diagnosed when they are younger than 65 do better than older women. If ovarian cancer is found (and treated) before the cancer has spread outside the ovary, the 5-year relative survival rate is 92%. However, only 15% of all ovarian cancers are found at this early stage.

For stage IV ovarian cancer, survival rate is around 18%.

Bible Study / Re: Prayer: Strive to have peace
July 09, 2013, 12:09:32 AM
Sometimes, we have to ask for the Grace of Peace to accept the things we cannot change.

This, in itself, is of superhuman character that is given to us from God.

May we glorify Him in our peaceful words, thoughts, and deeds.

Let us be kind to one another...and emanate that peace we receive from God.

Bible Study / Prayer for Those Living Alone
July 08, 2013, 11:46:17 AM
Heavenly Father, my true Provider, in all my daily needs, protect and guide me. Spare me from fire and flood, from thieves, fear and evil in any form. If sickness or accident befall me, send a messenger of love to attend me. When I am feeling low, lift up my heart. I live alone dear Lord, yet because I know your presence is ever near, I will have no fear.

1. Heart of Jesus, perfect Adorer of God, teach me to adore the Father with Thee and by Thee.

2. Heart of Jesus, burning with love of me, inflame me with Thy Divine Love.

3. Heart of Jesus, only Victim worthy of God, unite me to Thy Divine Sacrifice.

4. Heart of Jesus, overwhelmed with bitterness for the sins of men, break my heart with sorrow for my sins.

5. Heart of Jesus, sovereignly humble, annihilate my pride.

6. Heart of Jesus, perfect model of meekness, inspire my heart with this salutary virtue.

7. Heart of Jesus, infinitely pure and without stain, give me an inviolable purity of body, mind, and heart.

8. Heart of Jesus, consumed with zeal for the glory of the Father, en-kindle in my heart an ardent zeal for Thy glory and my own sanctification.

9. Heart of Jesus, reign for ever in my heart, and grant me the grace to reign one day with Thee in Heaven.
