After arriving back home, my father, myself, my sister and 2 brothers bought pizzas for the nursing staff at the hospital where my parents work at.

We brought pizzas for the ICU staff and the PCU staff.

I was surprised to know that the staff knows about me. Haha, brings smile to my face to see the staff full of smiles. And it reminds me of the 'team' approach of medicine.

Love it.

Growth thus far (4 weeks of growth).

Note that I did trim the sides, and clean up some of the excess growth.
I maintained a groomed beard, albeit the fact that its growth had to be continuously checked.
Alas, Providence provided me with the genetic gifts of Hair and its growth. lol.

I highly recommend young Filipino men to read the journals of Sr. Marcelo Del Pilar. Especialamente those who are studying abroad or living abroad, as one can find inspiration in his own struggles while he was a student in Spain, and conducting the editorial board for La Solidaridad.

A man who was given threats, a man who was looked down by Imperialists, yet one who did not give ground, who responded to his opposition with an eloquent tongue, as to deprive his despondents the priviledge of reducing him to their level.

Rizal may have been a man of passion, but Marcelo Del Pilar, definitely, was the architect of the Intellectual Revolutionistic Machine.

I`ve read some samples of Del Pilar`s journals. I have been reduced to tears.

The man is an inspiration.

Marcelo Del Pilar.

The Traditions of the Catholic Church is Apostolic. It was the CHURCH that compiled the bible. The CHURCH existed before the Bible. Remember that. :)

In fact, Reading Scripture should be in lieu with Apostolic Tradition. And not on basis of one's own interpretation. Scripture and Tradition was made for each other. To properly profess and preach the BLESSED WORD.

PLEASE read:

"Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is living in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us"
--2 Thess. 3:6.

To make sure that the apostolic tradition would be passed down after the deaths of the apostles, Paul told Timothy,
"What you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also"
--2 Tim. 2:2

In this passage he refers to the first four generations of apostolic succession—his own generation, Timothy’s generation, the generation Timothy will teach, and the generation they in turn will teach.

Do you believe that it  becomes the real flesh and blood of Christ.? Is it real and genuine that it contains  living cells?

1 Corinthians 10:16
16  The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ?

Acts 2:42
42  They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

John 6:53
53  So Jesus said to them, "Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

I do. No doubts, no hesitations. I remember a time when Mother Theresa of Calcuta paid the late Pope John Paul II a visit in Vatican. Mother Theresa attended a Eucharistic Celebration officiated by the Holy Father. When she took the communion, she had blood stains in her lips. Howelse would we explain that? God works in mysterious ways indeed. One of these mysteries is the transubstantion. And that what happens to Mother Theresa.

The Works of Blessed Theresa and the Sisters has brought salvation to thousands upon thousands of Indians in India. Many orphans who would have died, are alive, and many of whom are educated now, adopted, or living. Catholicism is strong in Southern India. Blessed Theresa has brought the WORD of God to that part of the world.

Glory be to God in the Highest.

Absolutely believe that the Wine becomes the Blood of Christ. And Bread into His Body.
This has been an Apostolic Tradition since the time of the Apostles. Eucharistic Adoration is not only in Catholic Tradition, but is also shared in Orthodoxy. Both of whom, are the original Christian Churches. The latter, merely a split of the Catholic Rite.

Christ established the Catholic Church. And NOT even the gates of HELL can destroy it.
For 2 thousand years, the church has stood. It has spread the Faith to the 4 corners of the World. It has survived wars, and attacks on its Body. And continues to grow.

Please examine Matthew 16.

"Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven"

3And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Secondly,

I do, personally, find it very touching to hear such words from colleagues. I could not prevent tears from falling from my eyes when I saw some of my colleagues who were recieving their white coat and reciting the Oath. Many of whom, who I have great respect for, crying very hard.

Especially individuals such as Jasmine, Irys, Jason, Devin and many more, who I've seen in the library and the student lounge till the wee hours of the morning. Toiling in their studies and keeping me company at night there. Their struggles, their beautiful struggles, their toil, sweat and blood paid off.

I pray that God Almighty guide them in their 3rd and 4th years, where they will be doing clinical rotations throughout the USA in affiliated Teaching Hospitals. Many of whom will be doing rotations in Chicago, NYC, Baltimore, Tennessee, Atlanta, etc. May their prognosis' and diagnosis' be accurate, may their backs be firm, and the Grace of God be with them till the very end.

May they walk in the same footsteps of the Greatest Physician of them All, Christ Jesus. The Divine Physician.

This I ask, In Jesus' Name.

A friend of mine, Jason, who spoke in the final ceremonies pointed something out that touched me, though sometimes I do not show it.

He said, and I am but paraphrasing: We have the Power to Save Life and Take Life. If we save life, then give thanks, may our hands continue to save, and to heal. But if ever we were to loose a patient, if life slipped our hands, then let us be strong enough to move on. For Medicine is not a personal profession, but is ultimately, for the good of the public. The Physician is, ultimately, a public servant.

And as I pondered this, I must concur with his statement. Only in Medicine. Where one has the Power of Life and Death. To Save and Give Life, as well as Take Life.

Last night I attended the graduating ceremonies for the 2nd Year Medical Students. As they completed their 2nd year and finished their Basic Sciences. Theory is finished. They will now proceed into the Clinical Phase of 3rd and 4th year Medicine. Where students become Physicians.

In the closing ceremonies, the students were each, individually, enrobed and clothed with the Sanctified White Coat of the Physician. And after each student received his or her white coat, the 2nd year Batch ushered the Ancient Hippocratic Oath.

As I listened to the entire class recite, I could feel the hairs in my back rise. It was a truly Powerful Experience.

The Hippocratic Quote:

I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:

I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.

I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.

I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.

I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.

I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.

I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.

I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.

I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.

If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

Masturbation, is a preparatory step for a human male for reproductive purposes.

Beyond the facade of societal norms and customs and concepts of 'sexuality' and what not. The act of masturbation, is weening a sexually able male for purpose of mating. Everything else, such as notions of 'wrongness to masturbate' or 'bastos-bastos' etc etc is but an arbitary concept, when in dealing with the much larger, BIOLOGICAL drive that supersedes all. You simply cannot deny and contain the Natural.

It is an ingrained syntax within a genetic male to continue his own progeny.

It has been ingrained in the man after several thousands of years of evolutionary process.

Higher diay ang acidity level sa ilawom sa vagina Dong Enzo, at pH 2-4! Mao diay nga murag inun unan ang kahomot niini! LOL

The way God designed the physiology and anatomy of the woman, is complete. Sir.

The reason for the acidic pH of the woman's Vagina serves a solid purpose:
1) Acidic pH in the vagina inhibits growth of opportunistic bacteria (therefore, it has an immunocompetency function)
2) Acidic pH eradicates the weak sperms, therefore, allowing the best of the best sperm to fertilize the ovulated oovum.

In a normal ejaculate, a genetical male (XY genotype) will release about 100-150 million sperms. A good half of that amount will be eradicated within the first hours; allowing the fastest sperm, and healthiest sperm to target the 'goal'.

This is why it is so important to have strong urogenital sphincters. For reproductive purposes, and in a species-wide level--is imperative.

Del Pilar should be a role model to many of us young Filipino men.

A man who was gifted with bright ambition, and sublime intelligence. With a learned tongue, a smart mind, and gifted with intuition. So much as to surprise, leaving many Spaniards in 'Awe'.

Del Pilar, indeed, is one of the many unsung heroes of the Filipino Nationalistic Movement, who championed the Filipino Cause in the very heart of the Spanish Empire, Madrid Proper.

Del Pilar was said to have had a deep and low voice. Whose tongue was skilled in perfect Castillian Spanish.

When Spanish conquistadores arrived to the Philippines, a major staple food that was given to the infantryman was Ube and Rice. Rice provided to be so effective as a supply for the infantryman, that it was mass produced in the islands.

Hence the development of the Encomienda System based on rice agriculture. Rice proved to be so successful in the Philippines, that the Spaniards exported Rice to its Colonies in the New World in the Americas.

Rice, as a result, has been grown in the vast rolling fields of Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, Columbia, Venezuela, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Cuba, Puerto Rico and even in the Spanish Motherland, Spain Itself.

To this day, the rich and fertile grounds of Andalucia grow Rice. The same ones that was exported and originated from Spain's former colony, The Philippines.

Interesting, eh? :)

One can therefore, dare and declare to say, that INDEED, The Philippines played a role in the development of the Spanish Empire.

A man named John was sent from God.
He came for testimony, to testify to the light,
so that all might believe through him.
He was not the light,
but came to testify to the light.

And this is the testimony of John.
When the Jews from Jerusalem sent priests
and Levites to him
to ask him, “Who are you?”
He admitted and did not deny it,
but admitted, “I am not the Christ.”
So they asked him,
“What are you then? Are you Elijah?”
And he said, “I am not.”
“Are you the Prophet?”
He answered, “No.”
So they said to him,
“Who are you, so we can give an answer to those who sent us?
What do you have to say for yourself?”
He said:
“I am the voice of one crying out in the desert,
‘make straight the way of the Lord,’”

as Isaiah the prophet said.”
Some Pharisees were also sent.
They asked him,
“Why then do you baptize
if you are not the Christ or Elijah or the Prophet?”
John answered them,
“I baptize with water;
but there is one among you whom you do not recognize,
the one who is coming after me,
whose sandal strap I am not worthy to untie.”
This happened in Bethany across the Jordan,
where John was baptizing.

There is a physiological explanation for this. Sperm is produced in the spermatic cords, well within the ductus deferens/vas deferens.

There are muscles within the penis, known as the penile sphincter, which is a mixture of skeleto-smooth muscle, which is responsible for the ejaculation of sperm during climax. The more one masturbates, anatomically and physiologically speaking, the stronger and the toner one's muscular sphincter in the genito-urinary tract becomes. The farther the sperm is released inside the woman, and therefore the less distance his sperm has to swim inside an extremely pH hostile environment of the vagino-uteral tract. (woman's vaginal pH is equivalent to 2-4; this means extremely acidic. So, logically and practically, the further distance 'cut out' via spermatic release, the more likelihood and the chances of a man's sperm traversing the arch of os and finding an unfertilized oovum (egg cell) and fertilizing it.

There is always, always, a medical explanation for things. :)

Bible Study / Re: The Miracles of Jesus
December 07, 2008, 03:46:49 PM
A woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years, and had spent all that she had on many physicians, and was no better, but rather grew worse, had heard about Jesus, and came up behind Him in a crowd and touched His cloak. For she said "If I but touch His clothes, I will be made well". Immediately her hemorrhage stopped, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. Jesus was aware that power had gone forth from Him, turned around and asked "Who touched My clothes?" The woman knowing what happened to her, came in fear and trembling, fell down before Him, and told Him the whole truth. Jesus said to her "Daughter, your faith has made you well, go in peace, and be healed of your disease."

Do not ignore this one fact, beloved,
that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years
and a thousand years like one day.
The Lord does not delay his promise, as some regard “delay,”
but he is patient with you,
not wishing that any should perish
but that all should come to repentance.

The wind is moving
But I am standing still
A life of pages
Waiting to be filled

A heart that's hopeful
A head that's full of dreams
But this becoming
Is harder than it seems

Feels like I'm
Looking for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

If there are millions
Down on their knees
Among the many
Can you still hear me

Hear me asking
Where do I belong?
Is there a vision
That I can call my own?

Show me, I'm
Looking for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

Lookin' for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world

Lookin' for a reason

I will come to you in the silence
I will lift you from all your fear
You will hear My voice
I claim you as My choice
Be still, and know I am near

I am hope for all who are hopeless
I am eyes for all who long to see
In the shadows of the night,
I will be your light
Come and rest in Me

Chorus:
Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me
I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine

I am strength for all the despairing
Healing for the ones who dwell in shame
All the blind will see, the lame will all run free
And all will know My name

Chorus:
Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me
I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine

I am the Word that leads all to freedom
I am the peace the world cannot give
I will call your name, embracing all your pain
Stand up, now, walk, and live

Chorus:
Do not be afraid, I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow Me
I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine

Several of my friends who are 2nd years are going to proceed into their clinical rotations by coming next semester after they take their 1st Medical Boards. Namely, my good friend Jason, Jasmine, Ryan and others. I was privileged to hang with them this semester, and will miss them--all I can do now is to wish them luck on their Boards.

They will soon walk to receive their White Coats after Final Exams this week.

Colleagues, be stern, be proud, be confident, and be learned.

I like this list, to tell you the truth.

My motto in life concerning life goals is to do what you excel at, and worry not on what other people think.

Small people talk about other people, however, it is the great ones and the intellectual ones that think beyond the small picture. That appreciate the wonders for what they are.

Do what your will tells you to do. Worry not on the judgements of other people.

Ultimately, it is not their decision. God Decides and Judges in the end.
Not Man.

The greatest teacher in our lifetime is God.
Who unravels in time,
Who installs knowledge according to one's drive,
Who exalts those who seek wisdom,
Who benefits those who work unceasingly,
Who privileges one the understanding of Divine Intelligence.

Second to God,
The other teacher is Mother and Father,
Who raises one for learning,
Who has given one the genetic primordia for learning,

Third to the that,
Is the Medical Professor.
Who toils constantly for the learning and understanding of student.
Who is there with us, in the middle of midnight in cadaver lab,
With us with coffee mug in hand, as we dig deeper into the human body,
Who is there to correct our surgical technique,
To correct us in our identification,
To correct us in our precision cuts, rough cuts,

Who is there to instruct the Physician-Student
Who is there to light the way,
By the GRACE of GOD.

Inspiration & Hope / Re: Why God allows suffering?
December 04, 2008, 05:43:25 PM
Christ Jesus, suffered on the cross for us.
God Made Flesh, God WITH Us, died for us.
Suffered Death for Us.

Does one not understand the total LOVE our Lord has for us?
To suffer such humility? That salvation was purchased at such a great price?

That with His sacrifice, God and Man was reconciled.

If Christ suffered for our own sakes, our own difficulties and pains cannot even compare. Suffering is mandated. Since the fall of Adam.

Mother of my youth,
Mother who carried me in her womb
Under pain of delivery--25 hours of labor
For the many white hairs I have given you
For the many mistakes I have made
Yet, nonetheless, your Love and Motherly patience never changes

Mother of my Youth,
Mother of the present,
You taught me how to pray,
How to read the Bible,
How to speak,
How to speak my mind,

Encouragement of success,
Yet reminder of my ancestral humility
Reminder of Humble Beginnings,

Mother of My Youth,
My Dear Mother,

Your Son Loves You.

Either you are Boholano, Maranao, Illocano, Illongo, Quezonian, Manilian etc.,

Beyond the arbitrary notion and human perception of regionalism, one thing is definite.
That we all share similar genetic traits, similar ethnic composition. Of the Malayan racial stock. One thing differentiates The Filipino from his Malayan brothers in Indonesia and Malaysia.

It is religion alone.

We are Christian, for the most part, and they, Muslim.

So, look beyond the regionalist tendencies that has plagued the mindset of our people, even before the arrival of the Spaniards.

Angie pointed it out perfectly,

There are so many pragmatics when one compares oneself to others. That is the recipe for poor form, in my honest opinion, as one should not compare oneself to another. Especialamente when it concerns said topic.

All these superstitious talk and rumors of diwatas, jinx, gaba-gaba-an is nothing but foolish superstition that is told to us, by the very MOUTH of God to abate from.

Why focus on the miniscule, instead of focusing on the Eternal and Highest of Highest?
God Almighty, is above all.

One's abilities and inabilities is not based on witchery, superstition, or 'jinx'. It is based on the given weaknesses and strengths that has been given to us by the Grace of God.

This topic is in itself rather ubiquitous and malfeasant. So what if Boom lost the fight? He lost because he wasn't prepared, that or his abilities was not up to par with his opponent. It is not based on the 'Jinx' of a town or etc.

Philippine History / Re: Bonifacio Day is Nov. 30
December 01, 2008, 03:31:05 PM
Bonifacio, took advantage of the works of Rizal and twisted it for more militant reasons. He was a radical, and one who did not share similar feelings and philosophies with that of the Great Rizal.

This man twisted Rizal's own writings. Rizal never clamored for indepenence, Rizal, actually, wanted to remain part of the Spanish Empire. Not as a territory, but as a Province of Spain, proper.

Aguinaldo silenced Bonifacio because of the latter's inability to compromise. Radicalist.

Philippine History / Re: Bonifacio Day is Nov. 30
December 01, 2008, 03:29:11 PM
Rizal and Bonifacio were extreme opposites. Though both were idealogues.

Rizal, was an intellectual genius, a revered polymath. A Physician-Scientist-Philosopher. Who wrote about the need for reforms in the Philippines. Rizal, was a LOVER of Spain. Never did he propose a divorce from Spain.

And even in his last days, he did not usher a negative word against his beloved Espana. Instead, he spent his last hours writing 'La Ultimo Adios' not in his own native Tagalog, but in Traditional Castillian Spanish.

1. Longing for light, we wait in darkness.
Longing for truth, we turn to you.
Make us your own, your holy people,
light for the world to see.
Refrain
Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.
2. Longing for peace, our world is troubled.
Longing for hope, many despair.
Your word alone has power to save us.
Make us your living voice.
3. Longing for food, many are hungry.
Longing for water, many still thirst.
Make us your bread, broken for others,
shared until all are fed.
4. Longing for shelter, many are homeless.
Longing for warmth, many are cold.
Make us your building, sheltering others,
walls made of living stone.
5. Many the gifts, many the people,
many the hearts that yearn to belong.
Let us be servants to one another,
making your kingdom come.

ps

that´s what we need now!

No wars, no hostility, no feelings of iniquity, as all souls, who will be called to the bosom of the Most High, will sing eternal praises before the Face of God Almighty.

With all the choirs of Angels and Saints. For ever more.

Imagine, to be able to see the Face of God. In Communion with the MOST HIGH!
