Di man to sila lisod basahon. In fact, they are absorbing reads. (He he, maybe you read them to meet academic requirements, mao nga wa ka mo-enjoy...)

Incidentally, I read all the above works, except for Ayn Rand's. Needless to say, I didn't finish some of them (guess which ones).

absorbing, yes, but difficult just the same.  if you read the summaries, fine.  they're absorbing enough.  i read the direct english translation, in verse, hehe.  i even tried the original greek and latin works ( ;)), hahaha!  tell me if they're still easy reads. :-X

let me guess what you didn't finish.  ayn rand's.  i feel your kind wouldn't go for her. ;D

sorry.  morag nakasabot na ko aning tungora unsay ipasabot ni sir vist.  flood control eradication diay nga di tuo-tuo kundi scientifically researched.  naatol pod baya nga ang flood control structures are scientifically researched.

but granting nga di na ni angay kay palpak man diay, let's take a look at venice and the netherlands.  the former is sinking fast and is being overtaken by the sea.  ang gihimo?  ilang silbing roads mga canals ug ang means of transport mga gondolas.  the latter, which is below sea level, has its famous dikes.  if the measures taken by these two places are not science, these are at least workable.

in the case of the philippines, especially in big cities like manila and cebu, we all know that houses have been built over what could have been workable sewerage systems.  add our propensity for littering with non-biodegradable plastics, and we get what we deserve.  if that's not science, i don't know what is.

men are happier?  really?  maybe it's because men succeed more at committing suicide than women?  ;)

"In the Western world, males die much more often by means of suicide than do females, although females attempt suicide more often. Some medical professionals believe this stems from the fact that males are more likely to end their lives through effective violent means, while women primarily use less severe methods such as overdosing on medications." still, nothing justifies snuffing out this particular conductor's life, as we all know.  what i hated about that tragedy was the disrespect for his remains.  it seemed as though the supposed disrespect that he gave to others in life he got back in full measure in death.  why wasn't his body covered for almost 3 hours?  or for that matter, why wasn't he brought at once to the nearest hospital?

the tragedy happened between 4 and 5 at dawn; my 9-year-old saw the body at past 6, on her way to school!  wtf!  what kind of memory would that scene give her?  she wasn't alone.  other children talked about it in school.  i heard it was because the tv crew hasn't arrived.  wtf some more!  >:(

#41516
may the victim rest in peace, and may the murderer pay for his crime.  after these courtesies, here's my take:

ang personal experience nako sa mga jeepney sa cebu makabuang gyod ang mga konduktor.  puwera sa maayo (too bad, wa gyod ko kasuway ug maayo), kusog maningka ug pasahero ning mga konduktor, mosiyagit, ug mamukpok sa atup sa jeepney, mabungol ang pasahero sa sulod.  wa pay labot ang pagpamugos nilag 14 nga pasahero sa 10 ra nga lingkuranan. :(

How to Calm a Cat in Heat
cooled by mkb

Equipment:

1 cat in heat
1 Q-tip

Procedure:

Grab wailing, squirming cat and place it on your lap with its hind quarters readily accessible. Chances are the cat will freely offer them, if not the first time this procedure is followed, then certainly each time afterward.

Insert the Q-tip into the cat's vagina. It will be exposed and puffy. Do not insert the Q-tip into the other orifice. Either way the cat will begin to scream, but there is a subtle and audible difference in the scream of satisfaction and the scream of rectal pain. Experiment a little until you can distinguish the two.

Move the Q-tip in and out of the cat's vagina slowly at first, then more rapidly. No need to be gentle, no matter what you do with the Q-tip it beats a barbed cat penis digging around in there.

You are finished when the cat is finished. You will know when the cat is finished because it will either begin immediately to have a cat orgasm, or it will run away with the Q-tip sticking out of its ass. If this happens let it enjoy itself for a few minutes before attempting to retrieve your Q-tip.

That is it, you are done. Enjoy the peace and quiet until the cat flares up again.

What to look for: The cat orgasm that follows this procedure is something the likes of which I have never seen elsewhere. It is a wriggling, leaping, moaning dance of ecstasy that defies any experience of pleasure my mind can even begin to grasp. If humans had orgasms with the intensity of a cat serviced in this way there would be no such thing as war, hunger, capitalism or God.

Background: A cat in heat is, with few exceptions, one of the most irritating things to have living in your home. A cat in heat will follow you around and howl at you in a bone chilling, hideous wail until you are ready just to toss it outside and let it get pounded by the local tom's. After a few days of this torture having to drown a few kittens sounds relaxing. This cat-saving technique was first demonstrated to me by a terminally un-squeemish roomate of years past.

and it would be prudent for anyone to wait for the mist to lift so things could be crystal clear.  imagine your consternation if you can no longer run away from the wolves that have gathered around the campfire of honest intentions, and (surprise!) the whole pack is an all-male one. :P ;D

My new Mocha.  He/she is behind bars until we tame him/her.

My other kitty, Kitty Kitkat.  We got her on Monday.  There's hope to this cat unlike Mocha, Jr. who is so snobbish.  But it's unfair to compare Mocha, Jr. to Kitty Kitkat.  Kitkat is not "wild" like Mocha, Jr.

viva, mocha jr and kitty kitkat!  truly glad that they have a home now.

p.s. i would like to imagine that mocha jr still has to get used to the idea that humans are kind.  when he (his face looks like a 'he', though i'm not really sure) gets wind of that, he will give back in kind by acting familiar and even sweet.

More Crop Art Pops Up; Lapan Getting Sick Of Circles

Candra Malik | January 31, 2011

Magelang - After investigating two crop circles in Yogyakarta last week and concluding that they were man-made, the National Space and Aviation Agency does not plan to investigate a third batch found in Magelang, Central Java, over the weekend.

But local police have called for the agency, known as Lapan, to send its men to inspect the most recent crop circles and make a proper scientific analysis.

Adjunct Comr. Slamet Riyadi, chief detective of the Magelang district police, said there had been no signs of tampering at the scene.

“The crop circles were probably indeed man-made,” he said.

“However, we do not have the capacity to make any conclusions; we only reconstructed the scene and found no suspicious objects in it â€" no holes, nor signs of a pole or stick being stuck into the ground.”

Sri Kaloka Prabotasari, head of the agency’s Center for Applied Sciences, said conclusions about Magelang’s crop circles could be drawn by looking at the photographs that had been circulating on the Internet and aired by television stations.

“The pattern of the latest crop circle find is much simpler than the first in Sleman, but slightly more complicated than the second in Bantul. It would be useless to go to the field, especially since the scene has been damaged by the traces of human feet,” he said on Monday.

Sri said the techniques used to produce crop circles could be easily obtained online.

“Nothing to do at all with a natural phenomenon or astronomical event; nor are they … messages from aliens,” he said.

He said the crop circles were most likely the handiwork of a group of people aimed at causing a stir.

“Not only students can do these things,” he said.

In the center of a crop circle in Sleman, Sri said, an investigator had found a 25-centimeter-deep and 4-centimeter-wide hole, believed to have been made by a pole or a pipe from which a string was attached to make a circle.

In Magelang, five circles of various sizes were found in a rice field belonging to Muhammad Yasin, an 80-year-old Muslim cleric and founder of the Hidayatul Mubtadiin Islamic boarding school.

Police have questioned five witnesses including two students from the boarding school who were the first to notice the crop circles on Saturday.

Yasin’s son, Muhammad Kahfi, said the students at the boarding school should not be distracted by the findings and should focus on their studies.

i agree with these observations.  i was so angry after reviewing the english language textbooks of our youngest.  (plural of bush is bushies!:o  was the author thinking of bush family members?)

school textbooks have the imprimatur of dep/ed as we may know, and these are required purchases otherwise your child loses (these books are paired with workbooks; you actually end up buying two books for one subject).  glad someone like antonio go did something.

this 2007 news item as posted by mike ligalig mentions thus:

Quote from: Mike Ortega Ligalig on August 14, 2007, 04:55:56 PM
Go says he has notified the Philippine Department of Education of dozens of English-language errors in all seven approved social studies textbooks.

our child's social studies books, specifically the subject called civics aka sibika, are in filipino.  too bad for non-tagalog speakers.  as always, our education doesn't seem equitable as it still favors the capital city and the tagalog region.
