The Philippines has been named the most popular destination in Asia at this year's World Travel Fair (WTF) in Shanghai, China.

After a public vote and an evaluation process by professional jurors from the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration and VNU Exhibitions Europe, the Philippines received the highest citation conferred during the WTF, the outbound travel industry's leading source fair in Asia.

Tourism Secretary Ace Durano attributed the win to the country's competitive tour pricing, the remarkable progress of the transportation sector, and the Filipino's friendliness and hospitality to visitors.

"The Philippines is one of the fastest growing destinations in China’s outbound travel industry, recording a 74-percent month-on-month growth rate in visa issuances for February of this year.  We are also the nearest tropical beach country for the Chinese, as Manila is only 2 hours away from Guangzhou, while Cebu is only 3 hours away from Shanghai," he said in a statement.

The WTF receives thousands of travel buyers worldwide, who come to hold exchanges with more than 500 exhibitors in 62 countries. This year, the fair was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.

"The Chinese travelers rank our country’s beaches and heritage sites high, as proven by the various recognitions they have awarded to our tourist spots," Durano said.

For his part, Undersecretary for Tourism Planning and Promotions Eduardo Jarque Jr. said the country has always gathered positive feedback from Asian tourists.

"The Philippines has managed to secure, among others, the Best Leisure Destination in the last year’s WTF for Boracay, the Top 10 Island Getaways for Chinese Summer Travel for Bohol, and the only Asian entry in the list of premier destinations in the acclaimed World Traveller Magazine," he said.

Jarque added that the Philippines belonged to the top 10 most searched destinations of Shanghai online users in Baidu, the biggest search engine in China.

The Philippines posted a 58.5-percent growth last year in terms of visa issuances for travel to the Philippines from Eastern China plus Sichuan and Chongqing.

For the first three months of 2009, the country's growth rate stood at 20 percent, making the Philippines one of the fastest-growing outbound destinations for Chinese tourists.

There is a rumor here in the Middle East that there is a third party involved. kung pera lang kasi ang problema bakit ndi nya masabi sa asawa niya at tsaka bakit sinabi niya sa sulat na ndi nya kayang sabihin sa asawa niya ang naging problema.

The Social Security System (SSS) is expected to launch its unified multi-purpose identification card by September or October this year.

The card was created to merge the ID systems of various government agencies such as the SSS, the National Statistics Office, the Government Service Insurance System, and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth). It will provide cost-saving benefits to the government and remove the burden associated with having numerous cards for different agencies.

Encrypted in the card will be information such as the individual's SSS number, tax identification number, PhilHealth number, voter's number, and all other information relevant to agencies of the government.

If everything pushes through as planned, the new ID can be used by voters in the upcoming 2010 national elections.

However, SSS President Romulo Neri made it clear that the unified card is not a national ID. "This is not a national ID, you need legislation for that. This is more of a convenient service card."

When questioned over the need of such a costly upgrade in a time of global economic uncertainty, SSS President Romulo Neri replied: "The idea is also to save money. At present, each agency spends about P200 per card. The more agencies, the more you must pay. A unified card will cut the cost considerably."

"We have a crisis every year. If we use that as an excuse, we'll never get anything done," he added

The police official was referring to Failon’s driver and housemaids’ cleaning up the bloody mess produced by the shooting.

Police said four members of the Failon household and even Failon himself could be charged with violation of Presidential Decree 1829, or obstruction of justice.

The housemaids and the driver said they cleaned up Failon’s vehicle and bathroom on their own volition and for fear that Failon’s young daughter might see blood in the house.

For all aspiring housemates, If you don’t meet the qualifications, you could at least try and see if they can relax the rules for you. MANILA, Philippines - Trina Arteche Etong, the wife of news anchor Ted Failon has passed away, about 20 minutes after doctors tried to revive her, radio dzMM's vice president for Manila division Peter Musngi reported Thursday night.

The 45-year-old Etong sustained wound in the head in a shooting incident that is being investigated by police.

Etong was brought to the New Era General Hospital in Quezon City at about 11 a.m., Wednesday. She stayed at the hospital's Intensive Care Unit and died there minutes before 9 p.m., Thursday.

Failon and Etong's relatives were seen crying while two doctors and four nurses were trying to revive Trinidad whose blood pressure had continued dropping minutes before she died.

New Era's Dr. Adonis Gascon, a neurosurgeon, said Etong was pronounced dead at 8:50 p.m.

“The immediate cause of death is penetrating cranial missile injury and then disseminated intravascular coagulation, and subsequent multi-organ failure," Gascon told radio dzBB.

A separate radio report said Failon and Etong's relatives broke into tears after learning about Trinidad's death. An ABS-CBN report also said that the younger daughter of Failon have yet to learn about Etong's death.

Musngi described the mood inside the ICU when the doctors declared Trinidad’s death.

“Andito si Ted at ang kanyang anak na si Kaye [older daughter]. Hindi tumitigil ang pag-iyak ni Ted. So far napakalungkot ng pangyayari dito sa ICU [Ted and daughter Kaye were here. Ted could not stop crying. So far, there is a very sad mood here at the ICU]," Musngi said.

“After mga 20 minutes na pagpupumilit ng mga doctor at iba pang medical staff na i-revive si Trina ay tinigilan na nila. Tinaggal na ang mga intravenous device [After 20 minutes of trying to revive Trina, the doctors and the medical staff gave up. The intravenous devices had already been taken out of her]," he added

Just three days before the one year anniversary of Windows vista, counting from the moment the operating system hit the shelves, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates was in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, attending the Government Leaders Forum Arabia 2008 "Accelerating Arab Competitiveness."

While Windows Vista was not on the menu, the future of the Windows platform was. Gates had to address a question about his perspective over the future of the Windows operating system in the context of the increased focus placed on Software as a Service. Despite the fact that more and more software is migrating online and is being offered as a service to end users, Gates still sees Windows firmly where it is today in 10 years.

"Well, in terms of Windows you'll have software running in the devices, and software running in your servers that you have, and then software running in servers other people have, and let's call those services. Microsoft will be one of the many people offering services, like we do with Hotmail or Virtual Earth today. There will always be a balance. In the device itself the new things like speech recognition, visual recognition, that's stuff that you need great responsiveness, and needs to work even when you leave the connection, when you're on a plane flight or somewhere where the Internet is unavailable or too expensive, that's in the device," Gates stated.

But one subject that Gates failed to mention was of course Windows 7. Microsoft is not saying anything much about the next iteration of the Windows platform. It is in fact almost completely ignoring the leaked details, screenshots and videos that have accompanied the release of Windows 7 Milestone 1. The Redmond company is reportedly cooking Windows 7 M2 for April/May 2008 and M3 for the third quarter. In this context, Windows 7 Beta could very well ship at the beginning of 2009. Gates' failure to mention Windows 7 in the context of Software as Service carries some relevance due to the fact that Windows 7, more than Windows Vista, will be a key component behind the company's foray into Software plus Services, via the bundling with Windows Live.

"Now, a lot of your storage will be copied up to a server or a service so that even if you switch devices, it's all still there. So, this storage will just be a cached storage, but running software there is the way it's very fast for you. The chips to do that are very inexpensive. So, there will be more in the Internet than before. So, instead of being half on the PC and half in the server, it will be a third in the Internet, a third in the servers, a third in the PCs. Actually if anything might get below there, it's that server level, because these Internet servers are growing very fast," Gates added.

SEATTLE â€" Microsoft Corp.'s next version of its Office desktop programs will reach consumers next year, though not likely in conjunction with the Windows 7 operating system.

Microsoft is set to announce Wednesday that Office 2010 will be finished and ready to send to manufacturers in the first half of next year.

From there, it can take six weeks to four months or more for the programs to reach PC users, said Chris Capossela, a senior vice president in the Microsoft group that makes Office. The timing will differ for big businesses and individual consumers, and for people who buy packaged software versus those who download it.

Some industry watchers had expected a new version of Office this year, but Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer extinguished that rumor at a meeting with analysts in February.

Capossela declined to be more specific about a launch date. Windows 7, the successor to Windows Vista, is scheduled to reach consumers by the end of January 2010.

Office 2010 â€" previously known by the code name "Office 14" â€" will include slimmed-down versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote that let people create and edit documents in a Web browser. Consumers will have access to a free, ad-supported version, and Capossela said the company is still hammering out what to charge businesses that want a version without ads.

Microsoft plans to let hundreds of thousands of people test a technical preview of the new Office portfolio starting in the third quarter of 2009, Capossela said. The company did not say whether average PC users will have a chance to test a more polished beta version.

Microsoft also said a new version of its Exchange e-mail server will be available for purchase in the second half of 2009. When paired with the next version of Microsoft's Outlook e-mail program, Exchange 2010 aims to prevent e-mail faux pas and would warn people against trying to "reply all" to a huge distribution list. Microsoft said it can also be tweaked to stop people from sending e-mail outside the organization, helping businesses cut down on unnecessary e-mail and prevent leaks.

A beta version of Exchange 2010 was to be made available on Wednesday. - AP

In a conference that the municipality of Jagna hosted recently, the 11 towns composing the third district cluster of the Coastal Law Enforcement Council (CLEC) tackled the top five accomplishments in the list.

Officials of the 11 towns, environment officers, the police force, and sea patrol teams composing CLEC-3 converged for the half-day activity on April at the Capt. Goyo Casenas hall.

Mayor Exuperio Lloren led municipal officials in welcoming visitor as he expressed appreciation that the body preferred to hold the activity in his town.

First, the council got an assurance that the patrol boats strategically posted in Jagna and in Mabini are presently in good condition and are dependable.

On the other hand, representatives from the municipality of Mabini showed their official record that indicated high level of marine-related cases that the local government attend to.

In Candijay town, the municipal executive faces internal problem with coastal barangays in addition to the problem on seaweeds sector in the town, as reported Vice-Mayor Arlene Caadlawon.

From time to time, CLECs assess the impact of their program on coastal management and other mandates.

CLEC-3 covers the towns of Candijay, Mabini, Anda, Guindulman, Duero, Jagna, Garcia-Hernandez, Valencia, Dimiao, Lila and Loay.

CLEC-3 chairperson, Mabini Mayor Stephen Rances, and vice-chair, Candijay Vice-Mayor Ann Piquero, worked for the big attendance at the conference.

Bohol Environmental Management Office (BEMO) coordinator Narding Valejos helped facilitate the activity.

Jagna Sangguniang Bayan Members Pacheco Ll. Rances, chair, and Senen Lloren, co-chair, of the SB Committee on Agriculture and Environment also helped coordinate the conference.

At the clinching part of the conference, Rances announced that Mabini will host the next meeting of CLEC-3 in July.

Daghan kaayo salamat for the quick reply.

Mari, hope your hubby and kids are fine. You look ever gorgeous.

Aduy, salamat kaayo.

There is no direct boat trip from Leyte to Jagna.  They can take boat trip from Ormoc City or Bato, Leyte to Ubay then take a bus (ordinary or aircon) or van going to Tagbilaran, which will is cost 150 to 200 pesos only.

There are also aircon buses everyday from Manila via Ormoc City going to any parts of Bohol.

gani kung mag abroad ang mga nurses kinakailangan may experience at least 200 beds ang ilang gisilbian nga hospital at nakadawang taon din sa trabaho.

The top migrant destinations were the Middle East and Asia for overseas Filipino workers, classified as temporary migrants, and North America for permanent migrants.

The Philippines-Saudi Arabia corridor is the biggest migration corridor for temporary migrants, while the Philippines-United States migration corridor is the biggest for permanent migrants
