Mastery of the basic principles is no longer emphasized in school because the present educational set-up is aimed at coping up with global competitiveness. This set-up is equivalent to 'speed learning process' , a process almost similar to what is used in graduate schools. Subject or topic syllabi have shorter time allotments which unable a mentally average teacher to expound further the topic and check the level of comprehesion of the students. What complicates the matter is the 'bahala na' attitude of the teachers. Then, when the pupils flunk in the exams, they pass their responsibilities to the parents for lack of encouragement and supervision. How could we attain our goal with the kind of teachers we have now? Mostly, grade school teachers assigned in classrooms are average or below, mentally (sorry for my sweeping generalization). How could we expect students to become excellent? Best teachers are rarely assigned as classroom teachers. They are getting higher positions as principals, supervisors and superintendents because they were able to pursue graduate studies out of their above average mentality.

Even the simplest formula of deriving the surface area of a triangle which I often include in my exams, no one was able to get the right approach. When I shew them how, they just answered, "Sir nakalimutan na namin yon." See? Kini tungod kay they do not consider much the importance of the basic principles which are the essential parts of achieving the right quality of education they should have.

We must go back to basics. That's what we need if we want to improve the quality of our students. All are eyeing for one additional year in college which is I think, is too late. When we talk about going back to basic, then overhaul the eductional system from pre-school, and then grade school. The present system introduces so many subjects in these levels which often confused our young students whose parents also are out of grasp about so many topics. The so called 'Parents Participation' to help them cope up, is really necessary on the present set-up or syllabi. This presumption is true only to well educated parents whose time is focused on the school performance of their children. How about the working parents, who just leave the care of their children to their 'yayas'? One could not really avoid hiring private tutor to take care of the battery of assignments in school which is another expense. If not children have nowhere else to go but loss their interest to strive and learn more in school.

I also have this book. This was given to us by the president of our company during one of our team building seminar in Tagaytay about ten years back. Nagkamoritsing na intawon ang mga pages sa pagbinali balik kog basa kay nindot man jod ni for people who want to excell in their fields. I like the 'Circle of Influence' to ones life, a way on how to focus your interest for something you wanted to achieve in your endeavor. I like the style of his writing when he dared to explore in layman's point of view on the proper use of our brain in the 'Brain Dominance Theory'. This is highly recommended.

Other books I like to read, were all written by Robert Lodlum; Silver Matlock, Farcical Mosaic, etc.
Classic but still burning with lessons in life aside from the Bible is written by Dale Carnegie, "How to Win friends and Influence people." This is also highly recommended.

Books written by Filipino authors: "Several Springs, One Stream" by Valentino Sitoy Jr.; "Not by Power Alone", by Jovito Salonga Jr.

Hala Glace dagan adto sa upat ka ektaryang kalibangan. Daghang dahon sa biyabas didto pang ilo!

Granted that the notice was issued and the owner advertently tried to circumvent such notice for 'pera pera' with the authorities which did not push thru during the 'under the table negotiation', why arrest the inocent workers? Legally the construction is not right when it was done in violation with the marina restrictions. But the way they enforce the cease and desist order was technically done in a questionable way. Average lang ning tawhana sa elementary grades. Dili parehas ni Intig nga among Batch '65. Salutatorian' sa Central School. Honorable Mention mi ni Pempe, Kusila Liao, ug si Beda Olano. Jolibee was conceived to cater the needs of the Filipino masses in terms of taste and ambiance. World class ang appeal but still pangpamilya pa. Sad to say that the younger generations could identify so easily the picture of the their mascot than with our Filipino heroes, and even Jesus Christ!

Sa Bohol ambot lang kaha kon adunay mga modelo sama sa imong gipangita. Diri hinoon sa Manila naay daghan pero mataas pa rin ang presyo.
