Mega- OUCH!

A three-year-old bulldog in the US is capturing the hearts of pet lovers the world 0ver after his hairy encounter with a porcupine.

The result of the prickly encounter? 500 spikes in the face.

The dog called Bella Mae was treated by the Norman Animal Emergency Centre, who put up his photo, which has since gone viral, on their Facebook page.

Vets at the centre removed the spikes, which measured several centimetres,  that were embedded in Bella Mae's face and paws after the attack, which took place in a town called Blanchard in Oklahoma.
He was subsequently kept on medication and under close supervision for a week before being home last Thursday.

Porcupines are generally herbivores and eat leaves, herbs, twigs and green plants but their quills or spines can be released upon contact. -- http://ph.news.yahoo.com/

"I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" is a popular song. The music is credited to Harry Carroll, although the melody is actually adapted from Fantaisie-Impromptu by Frédéric Chopin. The lyrics were written by Joseph McCarthy, and the song was published in 1917 and introduced in the Broadway show Oh, Look! which opened in March, 1918. The song was sung in the show by The Dolly Sisters and was subsequently featured in a movie entitled The Dolly Sisters, released in September, 1945, where it was sung by John Payne. The song was also featured in the 1941 movie Ziegfeld Girl sung by Judy Garland. It was also included for part of the run (and in the cast album) of the 1973 revival of Irene.

The song is a true popular standard, recorded by many artists over the years.

The UST Arch of the Centuries: Calm and serene in the middle of floods.

Most of the photos taken during the height of monsoon floods have shown destruction, hopelessness, even tragedy. But one photographer, Paul Quiambao, had a different perspective.

His photos, mostly taken at the centuries-old University of Sto. Tomas in Manila, show calm and serenity.

"It is really how we see things. We can choose to see the beautiful side. Kumbaga seeing the beauty and hope amidst the chaos," Quiambao tells Yahoo! Southeast Asia.

Quiambao, the official quadricentennial photographer of UST and a former editor of the school publication The Varsitarian, says he would like to show Pinoys that one can still see beauty in unfortunate events.

"I want to show sa mga Filipinos, especially my fellow Thomasians na there's beauty in every tragedy, na may reason parin para ngumiti. Anything can be beautiful naman, you just have to know where and how to look at it..we just have to keep positive," said Quiambao, whose photos are starting to go viral on social networking sites. He is also using his photos to urge students to help the flood victims.

"To all Thomasians who are willing to help for the relief operations, just go to your respective Local SCs or proceed to the CSC Office (Tan Yan Kee Bldg. 2nd floor, Room 201) when classes resume," Quiambao said in his photo captions.

The photographer also notes that he would like to show that UST, which has been a victim of countless flooding incidents, stands strong.
