Inspiration & Hope / Prayer Group And Power

On occasions, I visit the local St. Bernard Catholic Church to do comptelation, or just go to find solace after a stressful day of work and studies. And every day I always see a group of elderly women--in their late 70s or 80s, at least. And they awlays are there before the Crucifix, praying, always praying. Doing the Rosarian prayers, doing the adoration, reciting and anouncing the Glory Bes, the Our Fathers etc.

I love to hear them pray.
I always sit in the back---enough to not catch their attention, so that i wont disturb their prayers.
But I always, always love to hear them in prayer. I find alot of strength in their faith---almost a rectification and absolution to my own. And to the faith many of us have in CHRIST.

But seeing these elderly women---GOD BLESS THEM!--- i cannot help but refer back to the verse in scripture that Jesus said:

"You are the light of the world, a city built on a hill cannot be hidden. A candle lit should not be hidden, but placed so that it can lite the whol house. Make your light shine so that others will see your good works--and give GLORY to your FATHER WHO IS IN HEAVEN."

So I thank those elderly women for their faith. And I bless them. God Bless You!
You inspire those who you don't even think see you---hehe.

How beautiful is our faith!
Christ Keep Us!

Sad story, so young. Maybe from the sounds of the girlfriend he was suicidal and maybe the friends were trying to stop him from doing what he may have been pre-meditating to do.

But maybe his friends were scared because they could be looked at in the wrong way when they were trying to prevent him from jumping.

Foul play could be another angle. But his friends are innocent until proven guilty.

Again sad story sad to read the news condolences to the family.

Depression is a rampant thing going on with more youths these past years.

Whatever the motive for his action, either it be foul play or suicide--I just hope and remain firm that a clear report will be made to give closure to the family.

A message to all the young ones out there: Don't let circumstances rule you, you have to be the one to rule and determine the circumstance---with faith and affirmation in Christ's Role in YOUR life.

Be it a financial situation, family problems, relationship woes etc. Don't let the situation rule you, instead--find the strength in YOURSELF to overpower that predicament. Power that comes not from your own--but through Christ who works THROUGH You. :)

Be strong. Be firm. And if the devils snap and snare, denounce them!
In Jesus Name! Move Away!

Remember the mustard seed. The faith of the mustard seed.
We are called to be examples of mustard seeds. Tho we be small compared to our predicaments--our will and faith in Christ and in our own faculties that Christ has given us--can overcome whatever circumstance that can come at us.

Be Good. Everyone.

When we read the verse from scripture (Mark 1:40-45), we read and hear the testament to Jesus' Power and Act of Love. And the power of Jesus has touched me in contemplating this particular verse in scripture.

--
Scripture tells us:

40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. 42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. 43 And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away; 44 And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.

--Mark 1: 40-45

===

With a single touch, he wiped it away. Now do you know that although the fact that Leprosy is an ancient form of disease--to this day it is one that requires great care to treat? In Medicine, this form of disease "Leprosy" is part of the Myobacterium Family. It is known as Myobacterium Leprae. It comes in two forms: Tuberculoid Leprosy and Lepromatous Leprosy. Both of which cause devasting analgesia to the patient, as well as contusion and dermonecrotic results. The loss of appendages, nasal bridges, fingers, toes, etc.

The form of treatment for Leprosy is a tertiary form. We utilize Rifampin, Dapsome and Clofizamine. But the disease is so defective and resistant that it takes 2 years of heavy antibiotic treatment of RDC (rifampin, dapsome, and clofizamine) to eradicate this disease from the body; and even then---the damage done by the bacterium will remain. As in the loss of appendages, cardiac problems etc.

But when we read the verse in scripture from Mark 1: 40-45; I found it so compelling and beautifully POWERFUL. Jesus---only had to touch the face of the leprotic---and his disease was taken away from him. Removed. Everything restored.

Even now---in this modern of age---what takes years of constant and heavy treatment---Jesus can cure---and DID cure by just a touch of his hand. By the will of His Spirit. It was made so.

I stand before you today brothers and sisters---to repeat and reiterate this testimony of Mark in 1: 40-45. That there is no impossibility for Jesus Christ.

Merciful and Compassionate Savior.
He Can Move the Mountains,
Jesus Is Mighty To Save.

Yours in Christ,
Bran Lorenzo

Inspiration & Hope / Alma Mater Beatissima

Looking back at my wonderful experience; heartfelt, collective, new, life-changing, academic, social, and pleiotropic experience in the prestigious Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, USA.

Its just so surreal, for me, that 4 years of wonderful undergraduate education has passed that fast.
Seeing some pictures of my Alma Mater Beatissima touches my heart again.

It remains unchanged, beautiful, quaint. As the day I first laid my eyes on Allegheny when I was a curious 18 year old, a college freshman. A typical Biology Major.

Alma Mater...you will always be in my heart.

North Main, towards Alden Hall...
Many a times i would walk this way with my best friend. We'd talk in the duration: i going to Alden Hall for Science--and he going to Oddfellow's Hall for English Lit.

Statesville, you know I do know a General Surgeon in the hospital who---before every surgery---he prays in the OR. I found about this Surgeon by the nurses and by other students. A spirited and marinated Surgeon, who holds strong to his faith.

beautiful.

As medical students, and doctors---we should not look down on others, but pray for each other. Most of all, we must feel humbled---for having the honor in using our hands to heal the bodies of others.

We walk in the same footstep of Jesus Christ.

The Divine Physician. There was no ailment that Christ Our Lord could not heal.
#37313
Thank You for that firm reminder, statesville. Amen, my friend. Amen.
We should never think we are higher than others, because we are all human, a physician is just like any individual. The only difference is that he or she has a diploma and wears a white coat, and has a role of a healer.

Yes, I do agree with you, that we must keep a leveled head. Nothing is accomplished by human will alone, because we are told that man cannot live by bread alone, but by EVERY word that comes from the mouth of GOD.

Great, scriptural excerpt, btw, my friend!

Amen!

hehe that is a beautiful verse!
The Lord is talking about His People, Israel.

Lo and behold, they have made streams and vineyards out of deserts! Israel on High!

The Jew, the chosen people of God, what ever they do---they have succeeded in their works. Finance, economics, religion, education. From challenges that have befallen them, they have triumphed and rose over their would be persecutors.

From the Egyptians, the Philistines, Canaanites, Babylonians, Assyrians, Hittites, Persians, Romans, Nazis, why even the Terrorists. hehe.

They are such a small people, chosen from amongst the nations.
But they succeed in ALL The things they do!

The Word of God stands forever.
His Eternal Covenant with them---Forever.

That our LORD chose them--as a people to be born of.

Absolutely Amazing.

GOD BLESS ISRAEL!
Now and Forever!

Offer Your Work To Jesus

Before you begin work, a job, a project, studies, offer all of it: the successes the failures, the everything to Jesus Christ. Honor Jesus with your work, ask Him to bless you, so that your steps will be on leveled ground, and rooted in firmament. And if your path is hard, or winding, ask Jesus to strengthen you. To help you see the other side of the tunnel. hehe.

You know, there are no impossibilities for Jesus Christ.
Ask it of His Name, and it will be given to you.

So Honor your Lord God with your body, your work, your resolutions.
Your failures, your successes, your gains, your losses. Your everything.

A simple sacrifice, for such bountiful Grace---that HE has given us.
Each and Everyone of us that calls Jesus The Christ as the LORD.

hehe.

May our Lord continue to bless all of us.
All differences be put aside,
We are all family; brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ.
Brethren may argue with one another,
but at the sound of our Father's Voice, we are attentive.
hehe.

I love you guys!

On behalf of the Lucino Family, thank you very much for the prayers.

May The Good Lord, Jesus Christ continue to watch over all of us. Keeping us and guiding all of our steps according to his Will. And protecting us. All the days of our Lives.

To The Lord Jesus Christ, Who reigns with the Father in Heaven be All the Glory, All the Power, The Majesty, Honor and Praise. From the beginning of the Ages, to this current, and for Ages Eternal. Forever.

In Jesus' Name.

It was a busy and typical Tuesday afternoon, block schedule:
8am-10am --> Medical Pharmacology
10am - 12 pm --> Medical Microbiology and Immunology
12-1pm --> break time.
3pm-5pm --> General Pathology.

But in my break time, i opted to do medical volunteering hours at the local hospital, its what I usually do in the week--opting to give 3-4 hours of my time every week on hospital rounds/volunteering hours as a building block to hospitalization experience. I'm a 2nd year med student, why not? eh? What else could i do? Considering my apartment is too far away--and driving home would minimize the break time; and sitting in the lounge or library would be too supine. Why not spend the hour break doing something---productive.

That was my schedule, actually, i follow that schedule since the beginning of 2nd Year Medicine in May 2009.

So this past week I had the honor in checking patients, getting the chance to utilize PDI skills [Patient-Doctor Interaction] Methodology. Easy stuff: getting pt's history, SBP/DBP (systolic-diastolic blood pressure) etc. Simple stuff.

At at the same time--reading pt charts seeing the kinds of medication they're on, what their ailment is--and reading the prognosis statement written by the attending physician.
Just introductory material---too me, rather vivifying considering the experience of seeing and reading material we learned in theory---actually being applied in the Medical Clinical field.

You could say that I'm just the typical 2nd year. Young. Fresh. Motivated. Really eager and hungry to learn more and just digest all this material. The 3rd and 4th years tell me that i'll 'get used' to this; or the 'interest level wane'. I don't know what they're talking about, because I simply love this 'stuff. To summ it up, reading and learning daily material--is similar to a kid being in a toy shop. So many toys and games and gadgets. Is that a right comparison? Well in my opinion--and in my view---it is. hehe.

So let me get back to the point of this story, before I fly out of tangent. lol. So last week, I had the honor in checking patients in. Talking to the staff nurses---exchange jokes etc. Then I was asked to assist an attending physician to treat a patient. Elderly gentleman. And from the look of his appearance, homeless. His shoes were worn down, clothing ragged, and his face was unkempt, hair boggled all over. So we assessed. Cleaned him, gave him IV fluids, etc etc. Stabalized him. So i began talking to him, and we ended up having a really heart-felt conversation. One thing i noticed about this man was that he was very soft spoken, very warm hearted--just from his voice. I don't know what he did, or what happened that led to his current circumstance of being homeless--but just from my own personal observation---this guy was a good man. Really genuine. My observation lang. To my suprise, our conversation drifted and he started talking about scripture. And i was drawn quickly to it. :)

I pulled up a chair, sat next to this guy--and just talked with him. He asked alot of questions.
Some of the things he said didn't make sense---his wording was incorrect at times---but that didnt' phase me. Before we ended our conversation, this man, who ive never met in my life--ended by saying, "God bless you, Doctor, stay kind."

I don't know what it was. But i was really, really touched by this man. I felt like i wanted to cry. Odd, i know. I told him that i wasn't a doctor, just a student. Still he didn't mind, he said again, "Just stay kind, Doctor. Be good ya hear?"

I couldn't help but smile.

Ive kept on thinking about his message to me---and a reminder what the calling of the Physician is. A reminder to me that being a physician is truly all about helping the poor, and the sick. This man. Such a simple word and gesture such as, "Be good, you hear" can change or affect my heart. How simple, yet so beautifully eloquent!

Something about that patient that I adore.

I realize that seing into the soul of that old man was like seeing the kindness of Jesus.
The meek and humble, and destitute. Jesus was in that man. As the Holy Spirit is in all of us.

Isn't it so beautiful how our Lord Jesus Christ manifests his love to us, in the most unlikely of places? hehe.
But truth nonetheless.

So to that pt, I will respond to you here in this story:
"Thank You, and I will do my best to be a good and kind medical student, and God-willing, a kind hearted physician. Thanks for reminding me of what the true role of a physician is. "

Kindness in the most unlikely of places. hehe.

Age Does Not Come With Wisdom

There are some of us who have no wisdom of God.
Who err by precipitating sin and validating sin.
And teach that sin is 'okay' is 'acceptable'.
No!

Scripture tells that those who justifies Sin is in err.
That is not authority,
and in such a case,
we are to correct them.

As Scripture is a tool; to use with one another to correct, to instruct, and to profess faith.

:12In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
--2 Timothy 3:12-16

Stand by your justification in Scriptural Understanding,
and correct those who err,
just as we would want to be corrected if we err.

To illustrate what I was talking about, I shall provide pictures of some classic Imperial Spanish Villas that epitomizes Hispanic architecture. Which was very common in those days (Considering the Philippines/ Las Filipinas) was considered a Royal Spanish Colony. the culture and the rule of the day was Spanish. Anything Spanish. Philippines--at that time---was in the climax of Hispanization. The people spoke it as the national language---the attire they dressed was Spanish (maria clara, barong, vestido etc).

====

Typical Spanish Villa:

Typical Spanish house.

Colonial Style. Note the white stucco, and red tiling.

Old Philippines. Rizal's home would have looked somewhat like these.
Note the white stucco. Not green.

#37328
I agree with you, Bolingitboy.

It is preposterous to even think that Dr. Rizal lived in a green house. If we study Colonial Spanish History; houses even in Spain and in Spanish Americas (Nueva Espana, La Plata, Peru y Columbia y Aregentina-Chile were white stucco)

Any Spanish Historian would say that the color scheme of the day was usually white, stucco, and the roof formed with Spanish-style tiling. Typical Hispanic Architecture.
If one studies Imperial Architecture, the Spaniards borrowed Roman-Venitian structural techniques. The tiles, the roofing systems and the stucco format is an old Roman architecture---that was transfused in Spain---since Spain was a colony of the Roman Empire for 500 years.

And Spain, becoming a Global Empire for some 400 years---exported that architecture throughout the world. The color schemes were rather bland in those days.

If we observe the Plaza Mayor in Madrid, in Mexico City, in Manila and even in Caracas ---or any other Spanish City---if we observe and study the pictures or paintaings of the houses and buildings in the 18th -19th centuries---it is evident that the homes were bland in color. Color was usually brown, bricked red, or white stucco. The only color difference was the color of the roofing tiles. Which was usually brown, iron, copper, or black, or white depending on the economic status of the family.

Dr. Rizal, being an educated physician--and polymath--it would be accurate to surmise that he would he and his family could afford a higher-end home. Considering that they were able to spend the finance to send their son, Jose Rizal, to medical school in Spain (an expensive country to live in---in those days---and even today). As well as funding his studies and finance in Germany and France. hehe.

Analysis, analysis, analysis. This is key to any thing. In medicine, history, why even in economics. Analysis is key. :)
#37329
For me, Rizal is the ideal Physician.

His brilliance and his excellence---as he was educated and trained in Europe. Particularly in Madrid, Spain. One of the greatest medical institutional centers in the world. hehe.

Specializing in Opthalmology in France, and further studying and specializing in opthalmology in Germany.

At the same time, writing about the current situation of his native land.

He had everything: education, wealth, admiration from many Europeans, and physicians from abroad.

He gave it up. :)

He easily gave it up, to go back to his native land---even after being warned of the possibility of arrest and death. He returned, nonetheless.

He is, definitely one of my inspirations.

Rizal, is very Christ-Like in his own right.
A good and ideal Christian.

Long Live RIZAL!
#37330
Dr. Rizal's house must be preserved to its original.
His memory is essential to this Republic and to the VERY identity of being a Filipino.

It was his writings, El Filibusterismo and Noli Mi Tangere that awokened the Great Malayan Spirit. The Virgin Land, that he so eloquently wrote in his works.

Jose Rizal stands on the same pedestal as that of George Washington for the Americans, or for William the Conqueror for the British, or for Simon Bolivar for the Bolivians, Columbians, Venezuelans, Paraguayeneros etc.

His fate was a parodoxical death.

He was executed to silence his political thought,
as what the colonial government thought.

But in the end, as History often does, his death brought the wailstorm that was the Philippine Revolutionary War. His death, led to the eventual birth of the First Philippine Republic, and to the notion of a Republica Filipinas. His blood--was the sacrificial blood that brought justification for the need to seperate from Spain, permanently.

So, as he spilled his blood for us--especially for those of us who were not born or alive during his time, we should--in remembrance, honor Jose Rizal with preservation.

Preserve his memory, his writings, his messages, his possessions, and even his home.

Because it is the physical remnant we have of him. Jose Rizal.
It is the beautiful remembrance that we have that Rizal once lived.
Once walked. Read, breathed air, and slept.

hehe.

If the man willfully died to give birth to a nation,
is preserving his home so much to ask for?

Truth and essence of the Truth is inside each and everyone of us, brother and sisters.
Because each and every single one of us--are temples of the Holy Spirit.

You know that? Yes, its true!

Ye we may be sinners, some of us may denounce Christ, or not believe, etc.
What ever the circumstances may be,

It does not change the fact that the Lord God lives inside us.
Offering us Salvation, that is through studying His Word,
and Living by it. By faith and by active sharing of your faith (good works).
hehe. Imagine how loved we are all---yes! we might be sinners, but our GOD loves us so much that he does not give up on us. Nope, he does not.

He promised to be with us even until the ending of the ages.

All you have to do is call on Him. Call on Jesus.
And he will save you. He will rescue you.
Like how he rescued Apostle Peter--when Peter was sinking in the sea because of his wavering faith. Peter said, "Lord, Save Me!"

And Jesus saved him. Took his hand, and rescued him from the waters. :)

Inspiration & Hope / The Gift of Forgiveness
June 22, 2009, 12:01:16 PM
by: Kim Book

Each time the barbed-wire fence closes behind me and I see the men sitting in a circle waiting for me, I begin to pray, "Please Lord, I want them to see You in me."

I'm often asked to speak to inmates about being the victim of crime. On March 23, 1995, my 17-year-old daughter, Nicole, opened the door of her father's house to a 16-year-old young man named LeVaughn whom she knew. LeVaughn came into the house and they began to argue over drugs.

LeVaughn picked up the butcher knife from the kitchen counter and stabbed Nicole to death. My only child lay dying on the floor of the living room, her eyes still open. The last sight she saw that day was the face of the young man who was killing her. This young man whom I had never met in my life, came into my life that day and changed my life forever.

I buried my daughter, and one week later the District Attorney informed us he was asking for the death penalty for LeVaughn. He began telling us how he wanted to try the case, and then he proceeded to ask us if we believed in the death penalty. Everyone said, "yes," except for me. I said "no."

I don't believe in murder. Murder is murder, no matter how you look at it. It was no more right for me to take LeVaughn's life then it was for him to take Nicole's life. I did not need revenge.

I waited one year to be faced with the young man who had changed my life forever. He was hostile and angry during the trial. My greatest fear was that he would get the death penalty and that I would then have to fight to never allow that to happen. But God knew that wasn't how He wanted me to spend my time. LeVaughn was found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to thirty-eight years with no probation.

God had other plans for my life. LeVaughn still looked angry when he was sentenced two weeks later. Only now, he was sitting right next to me as I stood at the podium to address the court and the judge, but I was warned not to address LeVaughn. I was told I couldn't speak to this person who had changed my life forever, and he was sitting right next to me.

I began reading what I had written and then God spoke to my heart. I needed to talk to this young man. It might be my only opportunity. I turned and looked into his face. This was the face that my daughter saw as she lay dying on the living room floor just one year ago, and now I was looking into that same face. I told LeVaughn that I was not angry with him, but that I felt very hurt. I told him that I had compassion for him and that I hoped that he could somehow find a way to turn his life around.

And lastly, I told him that I would be praying for him. The face that was so full of anger was now looking at me in disbelief, and the anger was gone.

When I walked away from the courthouse that day, I knew that God had given both of us a gift. It was the gift of forgiveness. I was able to forgive the young man who murdered my daughter. Not because he asked me too, but because it was what God wanted for both of us. God was never going to be able to use me if I was angry. Forgiveness brings peace. And with that peace comes overwhelming joy. The joy of knowing that God will forgive me just as I have forgiven.

Two years ago, I became a Prison Fellowship volunteer. I also volunteer for the Pre-Release Programs in several prisons in my area. I do a Parenting Program, Personal Development Program and the Victim's Sensitivity Program. I have also become a trained mediator, mediating minor offenses for the District Attorney's Office, and I'm currently working on a program to do mediations between victims and offenders of violent crimes. I believe in rehabilitation.

As I walk out of the prison I feel so much peace. I don't see myself as a victim. I see myself as someone who has had something happen in my life, and I chose to let God use it so that I might be of greater service to Him. There is a sense of God's presence in prison. God is everywhere, even in prison. And to think I might never have known that -- if I wasn't able to forgive.

A very good friend of mine, you could say that i hold her as an 'elder sister' was in a predicament several months ago, actually.

She cried because of the harsh workds said by some individual, very lecherous words kaayo.
Words that don't need to be said through the mouth, harsh and ugly words, that reflects the ugliness of that individual saying it.

My good friend cried because of those dirty words.
I, being a protective Kuya to my own younger blood siblings,
felt a natural urge to protect my 'Ate-Ate'.
Why would anyone dare try to utter such hard words to my ate?
When this ate of mine is probably one of the nicest, gentlest soul,
kind, loving, and so very CARING kaayo.

This ate of mine was there for me when i was mourning the death of my best friend,
was there for me through our conversations, and there for me from my graduation from college,
and even now. And i do love this ate of mine. I love her as if she was my own blood older sister.

For me, i cannot fathom why anyone would say such things to her in such a negative and ugly way--but then again, I am reminded that the GOOD will always be apprehended by the bad people in this earth. People who have fallen sway, and easily influenced by the lies and the serpentine influence of the devil and his many demons.

So I pray for this individual--the one saying the bad things.
I pray for this person to recollect on his/her words.

Most of all, I pray for my ate-ate. For her beautiful and big heart!
And that no matter what, I am always here for her.
Because she is my Ate,
and I am her Dodong BranBran.

She is my sister in Christ,
and I,
her brother In Christ.

To support one another,
upstand her,
and defend.

NO matter what the words people will say, to us,
despite its malicious nature,
We give all their negative comments and give it to Jesus.
Because Jesus CHrist is our Shield.
And our Armour.

Jesus will dry our tears,
will strengthen us, and defend us.
And most of All, we ask Jesus to forgive those--who curse us, and antagonize us.
For they know not what they do.

====

Watch your words lang, guys.
Don't be so quick to usher curses, and anger.
Contemplate.

Be reasonable to one another.

God Bless You All!
You know I love you all,

Your Brother in Jesus Christ,
Bran

very soothing; in my mind i can see folks in their Conestoga Bandwagons, travelling across the Great Plains. Following the buffalo, and settling in a cute little village somewhere in the distant lands of Minnesota, or Nebraska, or Dakota (North or South), or Iowa, or Indiana, or Idaho.

I can see a father farming the newly tilled land with his 5 or 6 boys, while mother and the 2 daughters skinning and preparing the newly-hunted wild turkeys. Baking in the oven, with tops a'ready.

Papa, with his sweat-ridden face, and work-ridden body, comes into the little simple cottage--smells and wisks the roasting turkey and smiles at Mama. The 6 sons follow their Papa inside their simple home and start to sit, but Mama--insisting they wash their hands before the 'have' a touchin on the turkey'.

The daughters preparing the table, hugged by their Papa.

The chimney smokes filled,
the family eats. Together.

Somewhere,
yonder,
out there,
In the fields of Nebraska,
some time ago,
1800s time.

I believe in the power of prayer.
Mediationary prayer.

When my Lolo had a mini stroke in Florida sa una, i was scared kaayo.
I would not let him die. No. I cannot.
I refused to let notions of it in my mind.

Pray ko hard. hard, talking ko sa Ginoo. Ayaw i-kuhaa ahong lolo.
Pray ko--when i was in the hospital by my Lolo's side.
Hugging my Lolo--resurring him.
I prayed hard even when we rushed him to the hospital.

And after he was stabilized, liquids secured, when it was realized he was okay.
Pray gihapon ko. Pasalamat sa Ginoo. Pasalamat kai iyang mercy.
Pray openly jud, guys. Pray and show your faith. ayaw pa uwaw sa imung faith.

Blessed is a man and woman who is open of his faith.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Pray vigorously. Pray constantly.

Even when you are working, or when studying, offer him the glory.

You know why? because we are actively told to pray, pray.

Am a supporter of prayer. Pray not only for yourself, but for others, for those that you disagree with.

Pray kai it is resolutionary. it is complementary, it is mandatory.
Prayer comes in many ways. Some pray sa ilang room--that is the best type actually.
A priest once told me to sit in my room and just pray in silence. ---great experience.

Some others pray out load. Some pray in poems, writing it out.

Matters not the form of prayer, bc the Lord knows what is in your heart.
The intent of the prayer, the yearning of the one praying--even before he/she prays.

hehe. Amen!

Kining vitamin supplements, and herbal remedies, good ni to take as supplements.

Like for example, fish oil.
Is actually proven to lower LDL levels--LDL (low density lipoprotein) are directly related to heart problems; atherosclerotic growth. If you take LDL inhibitors, it will increase HDL (high density lipoproteins) which are directly related to healthy heart!

So yes, there are indeed good natural supplements out there.
---

Like if a pt is hypertensive, and taking Fibrates (fenofibrate or gemzofibril) to lower his triglycerides, or taking Niacin or any Statin drugs (Levostatin, Simvastatin) to lower LDL and raise HDL; an additional intake of fish oil is good too!

Because Fish oil is LDL-antagonistic. :)

Good to complement the prescribed drug.

===

Or if we have a patient that is suffering form gastric peptic ulcer secretion; because over activity of the parietal cell. We give the patient PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) eg, omeprazole, lansoprazole. And we also give him H2-receptor blockers to block the histamine 2 receptors which led to active gastric secretion. We give him Cimetidine or Nazitidine.
But we also advice the patient to take any alkylating substances that can raise the PH. If we raise the pH, we counter and neutralize the low ph due to acidity--which facilitates greater damage due to H. pylori infecxn.
:: That is why we tell pt to take and eat alot fo fiber foods, eat cheese and milk. Because dairy products can raise pH(which is good in case of PUD). and at the same time prescribe antimicrobials to kill the h.pylori: give him: metranidizole, clarithromycin etc))

===

This is why when a pt has a medical problem, it is best to use dual forms.
1. Treat the disease or treat the symptoms with prescription drugs
2. offer lifestyle tips: eat more leafy and greens; and if pt wants to take nutritional supps or herbal remedy w/ the treatment--that is okay too.
We would then refer pt to a nutritionist. To offer nutritional foods that can best complement the medication given. Anti-symptomatics.

hehehe. cool stuff eh?
;)

Money corrupts.

Easy lang to get inside a mercedes, with their prada suits that cost $5000,
drive back to their 2-5 million dollar mansions,
and sail their yachts every weekend.

but at the same time, turn away patients that have no health insurance. :(

I attended a meeting that discussed this here in school.
I was torn between the issues. B/c i am sympathetic for the cause to lower malpractice ; but at the same time i hate it how we have 40 million americans (mostly mga bata, ug poor families) have no health insurance. They live day to day with no coverance in case of an emergency--wala yamo. luuy ra kaayo uy! ang bata pa jud! little kids from age 5-10. :(

Some of the doctors that booed Obama are surgeons, neuros
who make $500,000 to over $1 million a year.
that is too much money. ang some make only $30,000 a year.

Imagine, some of these docs can earn over $50k in just a month.
what they earn in a month--most of us earn in a year.

I do support Obama's call for a coverance health care system.
Every American should have basic health care insurance; coverance.

Malpractice laws can be solved later.

Important issue right now: We need a standardized basic health plan.
Where the poor and destitute are not alienated.

WASHINGTON — Barack Obama isn't used to hearing boos.

For all the young president's popularity, the response he got Monday from doctors at an American Medical Association meeting was a sign his road is only going to get rockier as he tries to sell his plan to overhaul the nation's health care system.

The boos erupted when Obama told the doctors in Chicago he wouldn't try to help them win their top legislative priority _ limits on jury damages in medical malpractice cases.

But what could they expect? If Obama announced support for malpractice limits, that would set trial lawyers and unions _ major supporters of Democratic candidates _ on the attack. Not to mention consumer groups.

Every other group in the health care debate has a wish list and a top priority. Insurers don't want competition from the government. Employers don't want to be told they have to offer medical coverage to their workers. Hospitals want to stave off Medicare cuts. Drug companies want to charge what the market will bear.

Obama can't give all of them what they want. Instead, he's got to figure what's just enough to keep as many groups as possible on board _ without alienating others. It's a fine line for him _ and sometimes for them.

"It's a coalition issue," said Robert Blendon of the Harvard School of Public Health, an expert on public opinion and the politics of health care. "No major group is able by itself to sink health reform. But if numbers of them come together for different reasons, it could really hurt the direction the president wants to go in."

The doctors were only Obama's first house call. He'll be making his case to the other groups _ and to the nation at large _ in an increasingly energetic campaign to get a bill passed by the end of his first year in office.

The doctors were only Obama's first house call. He'll be making his case to the other groups _ and to the nation at large _ in an increasingly energetic campaign to get a bill passed by the end of his first year in office.
Story continues below

AMA insiders shouldn't have been surprised by Obama's upfront refusal to consider malpractice caps.

The group couldn't get that idea passed by a Republican Congress and president a few years ago. Some states have such curbs, but anyone who can count votes knows the chances for national limits are slim to none with Democrats in charge of Congress.

Instead, Obama left the door open to some kind of compromise on malpractice.

The president said he's willing to explore alternatives to taking doctors to court. In the past, he supported special programs in which hospitals and doctors are encouraged to admit mistakes, correct them and offer compensation. Studies have shown the approach can work, because doctors' refusal to acknowledge mistakes is one reason many families file suit.

Doctors have special reasons to be wary of the president's plans to overhaul the health care system.

Not long ago, doctors' decisions were rarely questioned. Now they are being blamed for a big part of the wasteful spending in the nation's $2.5 trillion health care system. Studies have shown that as much as 30 cents of the U.S. health care dollar may be going for tests and procedures that are of little or no value to patients.

The Obama administration has cited such findings as evidence that the system is broken. Since doctors are the ones responsible for ordering tests and procedures, health care costs cannot be brought under control unless they change their decision-making habits.

"Change is scary," said Dartmouth University's Dr. Elliott Fisher, a doctor turned costs researcher. "I think there is a fear of loss of autonomy, that someone is going to tell you what to do." Fisher collaborated on research that showed wild differences in health care spending around the country _ and no signs of better health in the high-cost areas.

But Obama did not blame the doctors. Instead, he tried to woo them, much as he has done with recalcitrant foreign leaders.

"It's the equivalent of international diplomacy. He's got to make them feel like it's possible to have dialogue about what the future looks like," said Blendon. "I think he's starting out with the AMA, but before the summer's over he's going to reach out to a lot of the other groups."

Obama assured the doctors that his plan would provide them with objective information on what treatments work best, with new computerized tools to better manage their patient case loads, and with support for harried solo practitioners to form networks.

He promised that Washington would not dictate clinical decisions. And he asked the doctors to imagine a world in which nearly every patient has insurance coverage and they can devote their full attention to the practice of medicine.

"You did not enter this profession to be bean-counters and paper-pushers," Obama said. "You entered this profession to be healers _ and that's what our health care system should let you be."

That line got him an ovation.

from the greatest movie of all time: BRAVEHEART.

This song begins in the ending of the movie,
where William Wallace, played by Mel Gibson, is about to be executed,
and in the Royal Bedroom of King Edward "The Longshanks", where is is dying,
refusing to offer pardon to Wallace,

Wallace, in his last act of rebellion shouts, "FREEDOM"
And at that same moment, Longshanks passes away,
while Wallace is executed.

Oh such a powerful movie!
Such a powerful statement!
Such a powerful song!

This is my favorite movie of all time.

I love this soundtrack.

Its eloquently rebellious,
yet subtle in its resonance.

The melody is an Irish-tune,
but the universalistic tone of its application makes it ideal
for the Native American Spirit
Story.

The Native American Struggle
Survival
Ancient Tradition
Struggle for Continuation

And in the end,
Triumph
despite the odds
despite the onslaught

They have earned their right
to be respected
and studied.

The climax of the song is powerful.

yup. Real friends don't need to be impressed by actions, or words. They are friends because they love for who you are, and what you believe in.

Fake friends, two faced individuals are the ones that say nice things about you--but destroy you behind your back.

And i can spot two faced individuals from afar.

I know of an individual,
who talked down on many individuals because this individual
was a professor/college instructor
and looked down on other Filipino OFWs for being not as educated.
Pointing out their flaws in english, grammar, language etc.

While not knowing that those OFWs were trained in nursing,
engineering, finance, management.

The pride of this individual was too high, eyes too haughty.
This same individual ridiculed and attacked others on their physical status,
attacking the beauty of others: physical and spiritual.

This individual, is an example of an ugly individual.
One who has destroyed the fences; and building fences in his/her own right.

Jesus said to us:
Watch what comes out of your mouth. For the things that come out of your mouth are far more dangers than the things that go in.

Many of us need to reflect on this issue.

Especially in the talking down of others.
This is one of the things that I don't like.

The talking down of others, with haughty eyes.
If a man or woman is in high economic status, or in educational level,
he or she should not talk down to others who are not as privileged.
Talk with respect. Show respect.

You are just dust.
We're all dust.
So why does dust talk down on dust?

Lorenz, What if there is unfaithfulness on the part of the girl or on the part of a guy, shall divorce will not apply? I think many women now are empowered and when they discovered that there is unfaithfulness, they will surely leave.

If let us say the man cheats on the wife, which is a sin of adultery, this is a biblical sin. One of the many things that the Lord Our God tells us that he deplores.
It matters not who commits adultery; as adultery is adultery. Sin is Sin.

But there is a verse that defends a woman and right for divorce on grounds of sexual immorality.

It is given:

“It was also said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’ But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
â€"Matthew 5:31-32

---
If one stands to Scriptural Authority,
then it is provided for.

But we are told, that divorce should be the last, very last action.
We are reminded that consolation and reconciliation should be aimed.
As we are told:

To the married I give this charge (not I, but the Lord): the wife should not separate from her husband (but if she does, she should remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband), and the husband should not divorce his wife.

Hello Bunchy, you bring up a really good question.

And there are 2 specific verses in Scripture that addresses your question:

1.
And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking, “Is it lawful to divorce one's wife for any cause?” He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” They said to him, “Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce and to send her away?” He said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery.”
â€"Matthew 19:3-9

2.
And Pharisees came up and in order to test him asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.” And Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”

And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. And he said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

"When God is with us who can be against us?"

That is the most potent Word of the Day, Bunchy.
Mao jud, my friend. If we wear the robe of God nothing can touch us.
Nothing. Not the words of others, nor their ill intent.

If we abide and trust in the Lord--nothing can harm us.
Nothing can harm our most important selves: The eternal soul.
Don't fear what can harm the body, for the body is perishable.

Fear the one who can pardon or denounce souls.
Who can save souls, or banish them.

Amen, Brod Gener. Amen!

For all of the many blasphemies we--as a people continue to do on a daily basis, and sinning in the sight of Our Loving Savior, we should contemplate on that.

What you said is so true.

How fortunate are we--who BELIEVE in the Love of Our Lord.

We are so fortunate, to be so loved, by our Father God.
That even when we err, he continues to be around us, surrounds us with His Angels, and gives us numerous chances towards salvation. And consolation.

Lord God,
you love us so much,
we pray that we could love you the same way!
You never give up on us!
Even those that deny you, and insult you, you don't give up on them.

So, we, in the faith, should be strong and pronounce our LOVE for you!
Let us sing to the mountains,
sing in the Glory of Our God!
Reign in the joy of the Love our God has for us!

Shine it!
Savior! He can move the mountains!
My God is mighty to save. ~~

Father God,

thank you, thank you so much for giving me a father.
A father who is there for us
A father who sacrificed so much, and continues to sacrifice
to send his beloved offspring and seed.
For giving us a vision of what a man is supposed to be,
how a husband should be
how a father should be

Lo, i may have disagreed with my father in the past,
but now in my adulthood, i come to appreciate his provisions
his laws, his rules, his firmament
his discipline, which hath led me to understand and see You, Father God

Thank you Father God,
for giving me a dad who does not take kindly towards rebellion
for instructing myself, and my younger siblings towards understanding
and to the knowledge of You.

For giving my father my mother,
so that the two of them, being united in marriage
became One.
And from that same one tree,
brought forth the seed of their union.
To which You, Father God, joined and blessed.

In contemplation of Father's Day this Sunday.
I contemplate on the graces you have given.
For all that you have given, and will continue to give
And provide!

But most of all, Father God.
I thank you--for giving me a loving father.

Father God, you who are Father of All Fathers.
For yours is the power,
The Kingdom and the Glory.
Now and Forever.

Amen.

Similarities between my Heavenly Father and my Earthly Father.

My heavenly father, who art in Heaven,
Who is king of all the universe,
Lord of all the Earth
Author of Creation
of all things: seen and unseen
Bow to his Majesty
Author of Splendor
Defender of the weak
Righteous Judge
Merciful Savior

My earthly father,
my disciplinarian
trainer towards righteousness
instructor towards humility
provider
protector
understanding
firm and resilient
but available to comfort.

A glimpse of my Heavenly Father is through my own earthly father.

As a Father's Love is a small reflection of Father Almighty's own Love.

Brothers and Sisters, respect and obey your fathers.

Bible Study / Common Cents
June 20, 2009, 11:01:15 AM
From: Our Daily Bread

In 1987, Mike Hayes, a freshman at the University of Illinois, found a unique way to finance his education. He convinced a popular columnist at the Chicago Tribune to ask his readers to “send in a penny for Mike.”

“Just one penny,” Hayes said. “A penny doesn’t mean anything to anyone. If everyone . . . looks around the room right now, there will be a penny under the couch cushion . . . or on the floor. That’s all I’m asking. A penny from each of your readers.”

In less than a month the fund was up to 2.3 million cents. Donations came in from all over the US, as well as Mexico, Canada, and the Bahamas. Mike eventually ended up with $28,000!

The common cent just isn’t worth muchâ€"unless it’s added to a whole bunch of other pennies. The woman we read about in Mark 12 gave the equivalent of a fraction of a penny, which was “all that she had” (v.44). But Jesus honored that little bit.

The widow’s sacrifice was an example and an encouragement to the disciplesâ€"and to us. She gave all she had. Have we ever been so generous? Jesus used an unnamed widow to teach us what giving is all about.

It was less than a cent, yet it was a priceless gift of love to God.  â€" Cindy Hess Kasper

One grace each child of God can show
Is giving from a willing heart;
Yet, if we wait till riches grow,
It well may be we’ll never start. â€"D. De Haan

God looks at the heart, not the hand; the giver, not the gift.

Bible Study / Passionate Boldness
June 20, 2009, 10:57:23 AM
From: Our Daily Bread

A young man was preaching to the passersby in Hounslow, on the outskirts of London, England. Most ignored him, a few ridiculed, and several stopped to listen. But regardless of the reaction of the people, he was undeterred. With a strong voice and clear resolve, he poured out his heartâ€"not with the words of an angry prophet, but with deep concern for the men and women on that street. His eyes, facial expressions, and tone of voice revealed an attitude of compassion, not condemnation. In it all, he boldly shared the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

In Acts 4, when the church was still new, Peter and John also boldly addressed the people of their generation. The response of the leaders of their day? “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus” (v.13). That boldness was not the fruit of ministerial training but of much time spent in the presence of the Master. As a result, they had become passionate about what concerned Christâ€"the eternal destiny of men and women.

That same passionate boldness was on the face of the young man in Hounslow. Do people see it in us?  â€" Bill Crowder

Will you be bold in your witness
By giving lost sinners God’s Word?
Jesus will honor your service,
And sinners will surely be stirred.

Bible Study / The Tempted Brothers
June 20, 2009, 10:53:17 AM
From: Our Daily Bread

Two brothersâ€"both far from home â€"faced similar temptations. One, working away from the family, fell to the schemes of a younger woman. His sin led to embarrassment and family turmoil. The other, separated from loved ones because of family turmoil, resisted the advances of an older woman. His faithfulness led to rescue and renewal for the family.

Who are these brothers? Judah, who fell to the desperate scheme of his neglected daughter-in-law Tamar (Gen. 38). And Joseph, who ran from the arms of Potiphar’s wife (Gen. 39). One chapter, an ugly story of irresponsibility and deception; the other, a beautiful chapter of faithfulness.

The stories of Judah and Joseph, presented back-to-back in the midst of “the history of Jacob” (37:2), show us that temptation itself is not the problem. Everybody faces temptation, even Jesus did (Matt. 4:1-11). But how do we face temptation? Do we demonstrate that faith in God can shield us from giving in to sin?

Joseph gave us one way of escape: Recognize sin as an affront to God and run from it. Jesus gave another: Answer temptation with truth from God’s Word.

Facing temptation? See it as an opportunity to make God and His Word real in your life. Then run!  â€" Dave Branon

God's Justification:

14  Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

I came to You late,
O Beauty so ancient and new.
I came to love You late.
You were within me and
I was outside where
I rushed about wildly
searching for You
like some monster
loose in Your beautiful world.
You were with me but
I was not with You.
You called me,
You shouted to me,
You wrapped me in
Your Splendour,
You broke past my deafness,
You bathed me in Your Light,
You sent my blindness reeling.
You gave out such a delightful fragrance
and I drew it in
and came breathing hard after You.
I tasted, and it made me hunger and thirst;
You touched me,
and I burned to know Your Peace.

June 20, 2009, 08:24:41 AM
In my 23 years here in this green Earth,
I have noticed one thing.

From reading the histories,
from analyzing peoples,
from searching Scripture
and from listening intently to many holy men:
be they ministers, priests, deacons, preachers, theologians, fellow intellectuals,

One thing I realize is this solid basis:

1. Man yearns to grow independent, as he progresses through the epochs
2. Man has conquored and mastered space, flight, has touched the heavens,
3. Man has mastered the atom, searched it, planned it, harnested its power
4. Man has warred with itself, for domination in the earth.

Yet, even in the grandest of accomplishments of mankind, in the end,
in the ending days of all men, man still cries for fear of death, for fear of the total 'end.'

That even in now, in this modern of epochs, the age of science,
still it is within the breadth of man--to prostrate himself to The God that created him.

That in greatest of peril, and in time of need, man--as graced as he is with the intellect and ability that the Lord God gave him--still calls to The Lord God.

All confidence is destroyed and unraveled when given such a position,
that when man's power and ability cannot help him,
when science fails
when machinery fails,
when theories and postulates offer no consolation,
when the atomic power cannot even touch deep into the heart of man,
in the end---it is the Lord Our God--that is the answer to man's prayers. Need.
In the end, man reverts---looks back to the TRUTH. And sees it.
Unfortunately tho, this is only seen in our weakest moments.
We should make it our effort to do so even in our greatest moments.
----

As it is Said:

"But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong." -

Now that I read this thread again.

It's really sad, not funny.

Its sad that whenever we need things, need encouragement we always ask for God. Call on His name.

But what we should do, is to glorify Him, and thank Him even in good and beautiful times. Not just asking for his solace and comfort when we are in need.

That we should TRUST in the name of the Lord in everyday. So that we will be encouraged, and gain strength.

Believe ko ani. If The Lord Jesus is for us, who can be against us?
