Carmel Marie,

I want you to listen to this song. This song is a powerful song, a beautiful Worship Song that my friend Job and I sing in the Church Choir on Sundays.

We sing this as the ending hymn, and raise the voices of the church to sing glory to God.
That even tho we, in our own pains and failures, we nonetheless sing Glory to Our Father.
Remember lang that tho our pains be strong, this life, this life called Pilgrimage, is fleeting.
We look forward to the TRUE LIFE, which is in the arm and bosom of Jesus Christ Our Savior Lord. Who raises the dead to life. And I stand firm, and in my belief, that tho we may die, we live Forever in Jesus Christ. hehe.

So come sing with me, Carmel Marie.
:)

And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

    -- He who has the Son has life;
-- He who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.

And Jesus Said: "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

--Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
-- Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
-- So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
-- Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
-- Therefore do not worry, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
-- But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
-- Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

    --to an inheritance incorruptible
    -- and undefiled
-- and that does not fade away,
-- reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith the salvation of your souls.

Father Who Art Grace Everlasting,

Deign to call us to your tabernacle
to share with us the light of your Grace
the salvation of Our Souls
to which is in Christ Jesus
Who is the Finisher of Our Faith.

Preparedest thou for us, the body of Christ
Preparedest thou for us, the blood of Christ
Prepardest thou for us, Father Eternal,
The Cup of remuneration,
The The Song of Glory, which is Yours In Heaven.

Deign to offer to us, your children,
your Peace, Your Friendship,
And Your Saving Grace.

For who are we without You?
Nothing, are we.
For as it has been written,
Man CANNOT live by bread alone.
But by Every Word that Comes
From the Mouth of God.

For we are Told:
Seek Ye First The Kingdom Of God
And HIS Righteousness,
And All These Things Shall be Added Unto You.
Man Shall Not live by bread alone,
but by ever word that proceeds from the Mouth of God.
Allelujah!

To this day, Spanish historians and ethnolinguists that study the progression of Modern Castillian, to the Old and Middle Castillian, use their texts, as well as listen to the dialects in Mexico and in Chavacano regions of Philippines.

Their history still lives in some parts of the Philippines, and Mexico.

Dialects, hehehe. Gotta love 'em.
#37211
hehe, yup yup.

I never knew about Chavacano language until my Spanish language teacher, Senora Bonmati told me about it. Then I researched Chavacano dialect, and to my surprise, the language was more Spanish than it was 'Filipino. hehehe.

The old Rich Filipino Peninsulares (The Aristocratic Ruling Class during the late 19th century; the Academics, the Intelligentsias) would speak in Castillian Spanish in the old days to communicate with one another. The Castillian dialect used by the Peninsulares was similar to the Old Creole Dialect used by the Mexicans. It made sense, actually. Since for 300 years, Philippines and Mexico had a direct umbilical cord linking each other. Via the Acapulco Galleon Trade. It was the Acapulco Trade that made Las Filipinas the Jewel of the Spanish Empire.

If you listen to Chavacano speakers talk, and you study it hard, yo will notice that the Spanish they speak is an Archaic form of Castillian. It is the Spanish that was used and spoken by the Conquistadores. To think, the Old Castillian that is now extinct in Spain, itself. Still is alive, in Mexico and parts of Philippines (Chavacano regions). hehehe.

This is a result of 400 years of Spanish-Malay intermixing, and language mixing.

Powerful!

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

I was moved to tears and to deep contemplation today via the message of a friend of mine, regarding her close friend who is suffering a physical situation. I was brought to tears to the situation of this wonderful and beautiful individual, who is carrying a heavy burden.

Lo, I was moved to tears.

That despite the painful physical situation this individual is in, her beauty in the Spirit has grown!
I may not have known you before, or have talked to each other---but do know that you are in my deepest prayers.

Remember, my friend, that despite the hounds of our lives, despite the waves that come crashing down on us, despite the challenges that deign us to conquor, we have and we do find strength through The Only One Love that can envigorate a troubled soul, a battered body, and a weakened faith. It is to the Love of Jesus Christ, and CHRIST ALONE. I cannot stress enough the saving Grace that is in Total Trust and Surrender to Jesus Christ.

That we may suffer, ache, challenged, and battered by the troubles of life, we find new strength and courage that comes from The Lord Jesus Christ who IS the ALPHA and THE OMEGA. Jesus Christ is the Beginning and the End. The Word, The Eternal Light of Grace, the Face of THE FATHER IN HEAVEN. :)

Tho our bodies may be weak, we are strengthened in a renewal of Faith.
That, is what I call---SAVING FAITH.

My friend, Find Strength that is in The Word of God.
Join me here. I am happy and honored to know you. :)

God Bless you.
My thoughts and prayers,

You know, in Philippines, there was a dialect known as Chavacano. It was a mixture of Spanish-and Malay words. But the tensing of Chavacano bore semblance to Old Castillian. hehehe!

Their pronounciaiton of the words, and salutatory is identical to Royal Castillian, albeit it has added native words.

Chavacano is dying language, actually. Very few speak it now openly in the Philippines. To the average Tagalog or Bisayan, they wouldn't understand it at all. As Chavacano has more Spanish than it has native words.

But if one speaks Chavacano to say a Spaniard, Mexican, the latter would understand at least 80-85% of what the Chavacano speaker was trying to say.

It was the imprint of how truly Hispanized we were during the late 19th century.
#37217
You could say that. It shares the archaic characteristics like Classic Latin. If you understand the tensing system of Latin (Classic Romanum), you'll see and hear that it bears semblance to the present Spanish language.

Simplistic, yet archaic. hehe.

---

The archaic form of Spanish that isn't used in Spain today can be seen in the Creole populations of Mexico. Old Mexico. The old Spanish Elites in Mexico still use the Spanish diction that was used in the 16th century. Whereas the Castillian Form is a simplified version of the Old Castillian Form. Which one could consider 'archaic' since it isn't used in Spain anymore.

But does live on in other parts of Latin America, per se in Mexico.

Its really interesting to see the development of language; the formation of slang. Or in this case, a former Spanish colony---being the suppository of the 'old' Castillian. Mexico, as a specific example. When Spaniards, today, want to study how old Castillian is spoken, they study the old Creole Dialect in Mexico.
(Please note that the Creole Dialect in Mexico is not the same as National Mexican Dialect; as Mexican Dialect of Spanish is a gross simplified form of Spanish, in regards to the tensing, and sentence formation).

#37218
That is why when I took Spanish in secondary schooling, I opted to learn not the Latin American Form, but the Castillian Form.

When I speak in Spanish I speak in the Castillian Dialect. If I converse with Puerto Ricans, Columbians, Mexicans, etc. They always, most always ask me, "Why are you speaking in Conquistadorlengua?"

Meaning, "Conqueror's Tongue?"

Whether you speak to a Honduran, Mexican, Argentinian, Venezuelan, PuertoRican, etc. IF you speak to them in Castillian Spanish, they will always, always, know what dialect you are using. "Conquistador". lol. But the irony of the situation is that Peruvian Spanish might not make sense to say someone from Venezuela or Mexico.

But all Latin Americans and Americanos del Sur (South Americans) will always know and understand Castiallian Spanish.

It is the 'Proper' Spanish. The Spanish that was meant to have been spoken.

Similar to the English that the British use. The way the British say a word, an English word, is how that word was meant to have been said. :)

#37219
The twenty countries where Spanish is spoken each has its own ideas about what words mean, and often a common word in one location can be highly offensive or pejorative in another. Or the meaning may be entirely different, and at times it may mean nothing at all.

The idiom “en bolas” is a prime example. In Spain, it means "naked, nude, in the buff," but in Mexico, this phrase is used to mean "in a group" or "together." Imagine the possible confusion in a group of people from Spain and Mexico.

Worse are words like coger, which in Spain is a common verb used to mean "to catch [a bus, train, taxi, etc.]," along with many similar meanings, but throughout most of Latin America, it means "to 'elope'," and therefore isn't used much in daily conversation.

It gets even worse with Spanglish, the hybrid of English and Spanish used amongst heritage bilinguals in the U.S. This quasi-language varies from region to region, sometimes even from neighborhood to neighborhood, and that's before the personal code-switching among users starts.
#37220
lol! interesting reasoning you have there, Hubag.

Spanish is two sided. imho. Its a fairly easy language to master, but just like Classical Latin, the language is very archaic in its simplicity. Archaic in that its tensing is basic, but have clauses that if one were to transliterate in say English or German, or any other non-Latin language, would be difficult.

Spanish, literally is a hybrid of Old Roman Latin. A 'slang' version of Roman Latin. An effect of a millenia of diction.

Italian and Spanish are very similar, but, honestly, both are archaic in linguistic terms.

Since the Father Language---LATIN---to which Spanish and Italian sprouted from, was in itself an archaic language.

In the question that I asked, "And in the rising of the Lazarus, what was Jesus' message to us that resounds Christian Truth?"

I wanted you all to remember the simple and basic tenet of our faith. Which is? That Christ's Power is Authority Eternal. The Alpha and the Omega.

Christ Jesus solidifies this purely and concretely in his answer to Martha, the sister of Lazarus.

READ:

Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of The Living God, who is coming into the world.”

(JOHN 11: 21-27)

---

And Martha's answer, is and SHOULD also be our answer.
Her answer to Christ Jesus question, was "Yes, Lord. I believe that you are the CHRIST. The Son of The Living God, who Is Coming Into The World."

AMEN! hehe!

My personal question to you (the reader).

Now do you believe that Christ Jesus is the Lord? The Son of the Living God? Who has Came and has died and risen for the TOTAL remission of Sins and is the very path towards Salvation?

----

I want you, the reader, to think about this. Internally digest it. Answer it in your own mind. Christ will know your answer. :)

Remember, We should all be like Martha!

God Bless You, guys!

You know, brothers and sisters, if you read John 11, the following verses really unwinds you, the faithful, to the TRUE LOVE of Christ.

You see, that the LORD JESUS CHRIST, is indeed, touched and moved to tears by the crying and the pains of those who call out to HIM. Asking and wailing in faith, for his provision.

One asks, where is this seen in scripture? It is provided, brethren in Christ!
-----

Jesus Weeps

28 When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” 29 And when she heard it, she rose quickly and went to him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him. 31 When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there. 32 Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. 34 And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus wept. 36 So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” 37 But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?”

38 Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.” 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” 41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” 43 When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” 44 The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”

Answer

Lazarus was a good friend of Jesus. His sisters, Mary and Martha, were also devout followers of the Lord. So when Lazarus was ill, they called to Jesus, asking Him to come and heal Lazarus. But Jesus waited. After a couple days, he told the disciples he was going to Bethany. Now Bethany was only two miles from Jerusalem, where there were Jews who wanted to kill Jesus. The disciples felt it was dangerous to go there. But Jesus was not afraid. He knew that God would protect him if he did the Father's will.

When Jesus arrived, Martha met him on the road. She told Jesus Lazarus wouldn't have died if he had come sooner. But she also added that she still believed the Father would do anything Jesus asked of him. Her faith was very strong. Jesus said Lazarus would live again. Martha replied that she knew he would rise again on the last day. Jesus answered, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?" Martha said yes, she believed Jesus was the Messiah.

Then Martha went back and sent Mary to Jesus. She also told Jesus that Lazarus would not have died if he had come sooner. The other Jews gathered around wondered why this great healer didn't heal his good friend. Jesus was greatly upset and asked to be shown where Lazarus lay. He told them to take away the big stone that blocked the tomb. Martha protested that it was so late, the body would be decaying already. But Jesus reminded her of the glory of God. Jesus thanked the Lord for answering his prayer, so that the crowd would believe God sent him. And he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" And he came out of the tomb, still wrapped in the burial cloths.

READ: John 11:1-44

Spanish, definitely.

Its an eloquently beautiful language, but native Spaniards are fast speakers.
I can immediately identify if a person is a white Hispanic or a native Spaniard by the way they pronounce the R, Z, C, J.

Latin and South Americans pronounce the word "Concepcion" as (kon sep syohn)
Whereas,
A native Spaniard will pronounce "Concepcion" as (Kawn thep thyon)

Hehe, the "C" is pronounced as a light "Thh" in Royal Castillian Spanish.

The proper way, hehe.

----

The powerful rolling of the 'R' is not Castillian style btw.
Native Spanish; Authentic Spanish do roll the 'R' but not so heavily. Its a light roll.

However, Latin and South Americans have a tendency to heavily roll the 'R'.

My answer to Biblical Literalists who who shewn off the importance of medical care, and prioritize faithful prayer is this:

Amen! Keep the faith, keep on praying. Prayer and Faith does help, Amen! I know the saving power of prayer. But also---one needs to keep in mind what Jesus himself told us:

But when Jesus heard this, He said, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.
--Matthew 9:12

Christ tells us that it is the sick that require the aid and provision of the Physician and the Physician's faculties. Not the healthy. So this is directly telling us that turning to a physician/surgeon for care is, indeed, biblically mandated. Christ Himself, says so in Matthew 9:12, and again in Mark 2:17.  (Just for those who think that God does not require the physician).

===

Speaking as a Medical Student, and one who tries my best to stay true and live by the Word of God, despite my own frailties and weaknesses, I do believe that The Lord Jesus Christ makes himself known and his healing power is seen in the works of doctors, nurses, and all other health care professionals.

For me, to see patients who are critically ill---and then seeing them progress to a state of stability, or see the amazing surgical procedures to remove tumors, the chemotherapeutics to fight off cancer, the thrombolytics that are used to destroy atherosclerotic plaques, the ACE-Inhibitors, the Statins, the Niacins, that are used to treat CHF, RHF, hypertension. Is amazing. You literally see the miracle in progress, and the effects of which is seen and felt not only by the patient recieving the care, but by the physician/surgeon or nurse who is applying the care.

Its a MIRACLE. Amen! Medicine is a Living Miracle.
Remember! Our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit!
The Lord God is GLORIFIED through US! Our faith, and our Actions!

So, GLORIFY HIM!
hehehe!

To God be the Glory!
#37230
There is a saying that a friend of mine, who is another medical student fellow, and a regular in Church. He says, "God Helps those who help themselves."

I agree with this statement. It is told to us that our bodies are the temples, right?

God has provided the individual a solid mind, an able body, and the provision of free will. Free will to choose what method he or she deems suitable. So if you are sick, it is natural that you ask and seek help from a specialist. Faith is a powerful and beautiful asset, Amen! But if one is sick, it requires one to surrender oneself in Trust. Trust in the Lord's saving power, and also in the instrument of God. The Physician, the nurse, the physical therapist, the pharmacist etc.

Just my simple point of view. hehe, nice to read the responses of individuals. ;)

What is also very interesting, Ricky, is that my grand-uncle, Cecilio Tan, went to school and was educated in China for college. He was several years younger than my grandmother, Mrs. Fortunata Tan-Salvo, but due to the Old Chinese Confucian culture, even though my grandmother was the oldest child, Lolo Cecilio was sent to China for school because he was the male child. (Oldest male child).

I learned about this by word of mouth from my late Lola Babing (Balbina Tan).

My grandmother knew not only how to speak Bisaya, Tagalog, but even Cantonese, Chinese and English. As she was also part of the Guerilla Resistance in World War II. :)

===

I remember my Lola Babing telling me that my great grandfather---Lolo Mariano Tan, who used to speak in thick Chinese accent. Even when he spoke in Bisaya, he still had a very beautifully distinct Chinese accent. And his beauty was pure Chinese. hehe, well of course, because he was 100% pure Han Chinese. hehe. I admire so much that though he came to Philippines and married a non-Chinese, he still made it possible and taught his children the Chinese culture, and the Chinese Language (Cantonese).

In those days, being Chinese was looked down upon. Many native Filipinos used to hold a racist and prejudiced outlook towards the Chinese. For being so successful. What is interesting--is that the reason why the Chines succeeded in Philippines was because of the old and ancient Confucian Work Ethic. The Confucian Culture of saving money, hard work, and STRONG Familial Piety. Respect for Father, Mother.

My Lola Babing told me that many people in Bohol, in the past, used to look down and have prejudiced look toward Chinese. But my Great Grandfather, Lolo Mariano told his children to be proud of being part Chinese. So much that he took them to China on occasion, and made sure that they learned Cantonese; not just Bisaya.

I really admire that. About the Chinese-Filipinos. That though there were laws that were set in place to prevent them from assimilating into the Spanish-Filipino Society, they nonetheless made it happen. They rose from the setbacks, and have progressed and contributed greatly to the Philippines by means of economics, culture, and even ethnic-racial gene spreading. hehe.

Remember your roots. :)

Quote from: Ricky Caluen on July 01, 2009, 01:01:28 AM
This is a very interesting topic---the role the Chinese played in Bohol politics and society.  I am particularly interested in this discussion because my roots are also Chinese. In fact, I have been trying to connect with any member of any Tan family in Bohol.

My greatgrandfather was named Tan Pico.  His baptismal name was Ruperto Tan-Roa (as explained earlier, Roa was his native sponsor's name).  He is believed to have migrated to Guindulman sometime in the 1880s. According to family lore, he came when he was only in his early teens, together possibly with other brothers and cousins of the same surname.  They came by way of Leyte.

My Oyong (I suppose this is some Chinese rendering of "lolo") returned to China in 1947/48, at the height of the Chinese revolution.  Presumably, he returned to Amoy.  My late uncle, Arce Roa (who used to own Roa's store at the Jagna pier), was a teenager when he accompanied Oyong to China.  Unfortunately, no one bothered to document things about our Chinese ancestor, until I started doing research on the subject, mainly because of my own specialization in History.

Ruperto Tan-Roa, a.k.a Tan Pico, married Rufina Basa Bernaldez of Guindulman. I have the genealogy of the Basa side of my family but only until Jose Basa, my Oyang's grandfather.  I have been trying to establish the direct connection between my greatgreatgreatgrandfather Jose Basa with the noted Propagandist, his namesake, Jose Maria Basa of Cavite.

I am also interested in getting a reference to someone who has done research on the Philippine revolutionary and Fil-American war periods in Bohol.  My other greatgrandfather, Fernando Salise (Valencia, Bohol), is believed to have been the youngest revolutionary to surrender to the Americans (presumably at least in the Valencia area).

My limitation is that I live in Toronto (Canada).

Any help would be appreciated.

Ricky

Good Evening Ricky,

I couldn't help but read your response and was brought to interest due to the familial ties we have, though distant, I am sure.

My mother's grandfather, was known as Mr. Mariano Tan (his Chinese full name was: Tan Ngai) and came to Bohol by way of Jolo, as he smuggled into the Philippines with his other brothers---to whose name, my memory alludes me.
My great Grandfather, Mr. Mariano Tan (Tan Ngai) did end up marrying a Spanish Mestiza, Senorita. Gabina Ignalan; and after marrying my great grandmother, did have 4 Children: Fortunata Tan (my maternal grandmother), Cecilio, Balbina, and Juliano.
When my grandmother was alive, as well as my grand-aunt--Lola Babing (Balbina), told me that my great grandfather used to take my grandmother and my grand-uncle (Cecilio) back to Guangzhong, China. As they had alot of relatives there; it was so intense that my grandmother knew how to speak and write in Cantonese--Chinese. hehe. Though we have lost contact our other Tan relatives, I knew that my great grandfather did have brothers and cousins that he came with to Bohol. :)

So I read your testimony that your relative settled in Guindulman. Who was also another Tan.

My great grandfather did settle in Philippines in the early 20th century; from the documents we have--he arrived in Philippines in 1909.

===

I also notice that you are related to Mr. Fernando Salise. hehe, that brought attention to my eyes, because I am also part of the Salise Clan.
My great grandmother of my mother side (my mother's paternal grandmother was: Mrs. Donisia Salise-Salvo). And my maternal side hails from Valencia, particularly in Barangay Anas.

In regards to my maternal side: I hail from the Tan, Salise, Salvo Clan.
hehe

I hope you get this message.

With Warm Regards,
Mr. Albrando Lorenzo Salvo Lucino Jr.

Let us reason together, brothers and sisters. To utilize the wisdom of our minds that Christ has provided for us. There is no doubt that the power of Prayer is undeniable. However, prayer should be a complement to medical treatment, when in regards to the treatment of ailment.

hehe, if individuals will be literalists, then we should also bear in mind with maintaining a broad minded understanding and reading of Scripture.

Christ Our Lord, even mentions the role of the Physician. And the the physician's role in the care of the sick:

We Are Reminded

And hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
--Mark 2:17

again,

But when Jesus heard this, He said, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.
--Matthew 9:12

Be open minded, be open to healing, in the body as well as in the spirit. The role of the ministry, and the church is to heal the soul, through the Word of God. But the role of the physician, is to heal the body--to which he has been ordained to heal. By Wisdom that comes not from his own understanding, but by the very Mouth of God.

The Glory of God is Glorified in All Things.
For All the Earth, and All Things are HIS footstools.
Medicine, treatment, etc. All are because of Him. hehe.

God Bless!

Let us not cast the stone to our brothers and sisters.
For we all Sin before the Lord God. Romans 3:23: "For All Fall Short Before the Glory of God."

In this case, Sanford, was perfected in weakness. In humiliation, he was perfected. Asking forgiveness and begging clemency.

We, as Chldren of Christ, for those who trust and believe in His Word, should listen.

Amen, I forgive you, Mark!
May the Lord strengthen and forgive you.

Wishing

The world is full of wishing-folks,
Who sit and dream and smile,
And never seem to get around
To doing things worthwhile.

They all would like the praise that goes,
With reputations grand -
But do not care to pay the price,
To earn such praise from man.

And yet - there's no way else to win,
Success and worthwhile praise,
Than rolling up the sleeves - and then,
To toil thru endless days.

Priceless Privileges

Isn't it strange that princes and kings,
And clowns that caper in sawdust rings,
And common folk like you and me,
Are Builders for eternity?

To each is given a bag of tools,
A shapeless mass and a book of rules,
And each must fashion ere life is flown,
A stumbling block or a stepping stone.

I just re-read this thread. And it is unfortunate that Michael did pass on.

Again it shows to tell us that there are complexities involving MSRA treatment; even with Vancomycin, as there is a 50% chance of survival.

In this case Michael did not make it. There are many other possiblities that did lead to his death. But I can say that his MSRA infection probably did exacerbate it; as continued MSRA or any Staph Aureus infection leads to endocarditis.

Poems and Poets / To: My Uncle Steve

Written by:     Albrando Lorenzo Lucino Jr.

To my friend, my uncle, Steve.
Uncle Steve.

I first remembered when I first came and arrived to the United States.
5 or 6 years old, thick Bisayan accent, english limited
And I first met you and my Ante Beth--
Has it been really 18 years? :)

Thanks for supporting, being there for me and my siblings,
for being a great Uncle.
From Elementary,
To Middle School,
To High School,
To College,
To Medical School.

You've been there for me, you and my Dad are two men in my life that I look up to.
I really respect you, and care for you. Uncle Steve.
For all of the prep talks we've had, since I was just an adolescent kid,
with my own faults, for helping to steer me towards the Goal.
For helping to motivate me, and strengthening me.

Most of all, thanks for being kind to the family.
And taking care of Ante Beth and Stephen.
I find it sometimes very warming, knowing that my Uncle is Puti,
but you are so very Filipino. Very Bisayan.
You're more of a Boholano than you are an American, I always say.
Then gain, im sure you get that alot from the family. LOL.
Lucino-Influence. hahaha!

Uncle Steve,
My Uncle,
I still remember back in July 2006.
When I went abroad to Ukraine for the study abroad program.
And When I came back to college after the program, I didn't want to drive home.
Because I was so tired, and homesick.
I asked you if you could come---
And you did.
Thanks Uncle Steve.
Thank you so much.
I remember picking you up at the Greyhound Bust Stop
by Meadville, PA,
You had your ipod on and said that the ride took 12 hours.
Thanks alot, Uncle.

You're a great role model,
please know that.
Love you alot, Uncle Steve.
I am so honored to have you part of my life,
and part of the entire family.

God Bless You.
You have a kind heart.

Love,
Your Nephew,

We Are Told!

Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed on the housetops.

--Luke 12: 3
#37250
He was caught in his sin, Scripture tells us that our sins will follow us. What we whisper in the dark and hide, it will be revealed in the rooftops. Meaning ani, what we plot, what we do that is erroneous and try to hide it--it will, eventually be revealed.

For the LORD GOD does not suffer the actions of the Wicked.

---

But since this man has humbled himself by pleading and asking for forgiveness, he has made the step that is very resounding. And I admire him, for his brevity, for his truthfullness when confronted. Romans 2:23 tells us, "For ALL fall short from the Glory of God." Meaning ani, that we will all sin. From lowest of positions to the elevated of positions. All shall sin, all are imperfect. None is spared. Not I, nor You.

We are called to forgive. Praying for one another. For the remission of Sins.

So I forgive this man. I forgive him, and do pray that he can heal this wound with his family. Forgiveness--and the healing process will take time. But my prayers are with him and his family. May the Lord God bless him, and comfort him.

Inspiration & Hope / Rise Up, Move On
June 27, 2009, 05:42:22 PM
Written by: Albrando Lorenzo Lucino Jr.

We are told:

"But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus" - Philippians 3:14

---

But what does that mean?
What does Christ mean to tell us in that Scriptural Dosage?
Its simple: Rise Up, Dust Away Your Sins, Move On.

No one, none of us is free from sin.
I myself, am a sinner--Christ knows it. The same goes for you, brothers and sisters. Surely none of us is born perfect, aside from Christ Our Lord. But that is the beauty and humility of being human, isn't it? That throughout the continuum of God's creations, in the heavens or in all the Earth--it is Man--that is born with sin, innately mandated to sin for temptation abounds before us. Yet in our own transgressions and daily predilictions, we are nonetheless strengthened and provided for by the Word that is in Christ and in His Ministry that He has passed down from age to age. We are reminded by the lives of Paul, Matthew, Peter, Mark, John, and Timothy that they all too were sinners, but it was in their relation to Christ that they were purified.

Paul, who is one of my favorite Apostles bears this to mind---with his own reference of his life prior to his conversion into Christianity. His role in the death of Stephen, one of the earliest martyrs for Christ. Sauls conversion to Paul --is a beautiful one, which perfectly correlates with the scriptural verse that I provided. We are reminded, that by our faith, and by our prayer for forgiveness, we are forgiven. Which is mandated and provided for by our Faith in Christ Jesus, who ALONE is mighty to save. And who is ALONE Savior. And who ALONE is Judge. By the Authority HE has from the Father.

Reading this verse in scripture, as I sit here in the medical lounge, reading notes, I am deigned speak and reiterate that we are reminded that what we did in the past is the past. What was wrong was wrong. Sure, it may have been sin, so long as we acknowledge that it was sin, and not deny it. And we for consolation, it will be given. Christ told us, that if we ask it of His Name he shall give it.

So it permeates my own understanding and my own weakness and my own limited capacity of completely undersanding all of Scripture and of the TRUEness and WISDOM that comes from the Mouth of The LORD GOD ON HIGH, but by HIS grace, we are able to take part of his Truth.

We are reminded, that the past is the past. The sins of the past was the past. Our past is dead, and we are born again in Christ Jesus. Christ Forgives, so that we should move on. To claim the prize, which is Heavenbound. To which Christ calls us to. :)

So rise up, and move on. Don't linger on what was, 'what could have been', 'what i could have done'. But focus on what 'is possible'.

Focus on 'the Potential'. The future--to which you---by Grace of Jesus Christ---can accomplish.

Claim the Goal.
Glorify Jesus Christ through your goodness.

Inspiration & Hope / We Have Our Own Crosses
June 27, 2009, 03:40:14 PM
Written by: Albrando Lorenzo Lucino Jr.

When we look at the crucifix, we are reminded, we are demanded to remember!
To Remember that Christ suffered, and Died on the Cross--for the remuneration of our sins.
Yes! Don't you dare forget that, brothers and sisters.

Yes Christ carried the Cross for us, and he continues to do so.
But we are reminded that we, ourselves, have our own crosses to bear.
Just as Simon, who helped Jesus, bore the Cross of Christ--to help the Savior.

We are reminded again, that we too bear our crosses.
Whatever it may be. A vice, a problem, a sin, only Our Lord God knows it--even if we deny it.

So don't think that you are alone.
When you think your cross is too heavy to bear,
Don't  you dare give up. You hear me?
Don't you dare give up.
Christ--in His love for us--did not give up the cross.
On the contrary, he carried it all the way to Calgary.

So in your weakest moments,
in the trying mements,
when you think your cross is too heavy to bear,
Call on Jesus.

Trust me, when you think you are alone, that is when He is there with you.
Helping you bear the brunt of the Cross.
Just as the bore the cross to save your own soul.

hehe.

He loves you, folks.
Very much.

For those who suffer, who long, for those who are in pain, anguish, those who find nothing, no comfort, no solace due to a persona, external predicament. What ever it may be--The Lord God Jesus Christ ALONE knows---cry out to JESUS!

Ask for HIS Mercy.
And it will be Given.
Ask for Strength, it shall be given.
Ask for Salvation! Brothers and Sisters.
Salvation---which means more than any block of gold, or stack of money.
Salvation--On High--of the Eternal Soul.
To which Christ, and CHRIST ALONE, can give you.

Amen, For there is NO OTHER NAME! In Heaven or Earth to which we shall be saved,
Only Jesus Christ!

I have a classmate, who is one of best students in my batch (an excellent student!). I am good friends with her because of her kindness, her confidence in work and in the Word of Christ. Her works and successes--gives TESTAMENT to His grace and Faithfullness.

Jyothi, that is her name, she is an ICU nurse who went back to medical school---and she's really smart. She knows her information, masters the clinical aspect. Her intelligence and knowledge gives me a newfound respect for all nurses. And most of all my own mother--who is also an ICU Nurse (Intensive Care Unit); since my own mom has been an ICU/CCU nurse for over 20 years. :)

I found out several weeks ago that Jyothi was paralyzed from the waist down due to an accident.
Now Jyothi, who is a Pentecostal Christian, told me that during a church visitation, she was touched by the Holy Spirit. She was healed, and was able to walk again.

I kid you not, I tried to ask her what was the medical reason for the revival. In her good and beautiful faith, she reiterated, "It was the HOLY SPIRIT."

:)

Power.
Power Unassailable.

Amen JESUS!

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples."

Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.

Blessing Of Friends

Bless our friends, our companions, our confidants. Bless them for being with us--strengthening us through this pilgrimage of Life. May The Lord God continue to strengthen us through our everydays--either it through good works, to the sublime and kind words and deeds of friends. The special and true friends. The ones that are there through Thick and Thin.

I thank THE LORD JESUS CHRIST everyday for the friends he has given me, the good and loving friends. Let us give thanks to His blessings--and Good Graces.

Thank You, JESUS!

What a beautiful message, Buenavista!

Yes, when we pray--we offer our frailties, our failures, our weaknesses, our strengths and our simple motivations. For our Father in Heaven pierces and sees through our hearts, and sees the soul. Which longs and sings glory Everlasting to The One who created it.

Take it easy pood, Bwad.

Am sure Michael wanted all of his fans to remember the good things.
Michael will never really be dead--cuz he lives in the hearts of those who really respected and appreciate his works.

And am sure----that is the goal of an artist. To make a lasting imprint in the hearts of the fans.

God Bless your big heart, Buwad!

I can remember when i was in my younger teens---I would come back from football practice at night---and i would open the house door to hear my dad in the living room listening to either: Luthervandross, Kenny G, and other jazzy classics; as well as listening to some Michael Jackson songs.

Michael was a great guy in life, he had his own shares of imperfections, but who really is perfect? (no one). I hope his kids will grow up and know how a great artist their father was in life.

May his memory live on in our hearts and minds.
Rest in peace, Michael.

makalagut jud!

Anyway di ba naa man tay thread about his illness MRSA? we have a friend here who died of the same illness.

Yup, we covered that thread before.
Michael was battling MSRA (methicillin-resistant staph aureus), which if it permeats via pharyngitis, can cause acute endocarditis. Which, is what happened---in this situation.
My guess---he battled the infection; which has a 50/50 survival rate even when given Vancomycin and other 3rd gen. Cephalosporins.

Our condolences to Michael Jackson. He will be loved, and missed.

A legend, definitely, in our own time.
