Our extended condolences to the families of the bereaved.
May the Lord bless them in this difficult time, and the strength to move on.

In Christ We Put Our Faith,
For He alone has power to save the eternal soul.
Amen.

Bless The Lord, O My Soul!

Psalm 103,
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven and said: "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him. I thank and praise you, O God of my fathers: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king."

In the Philippines, the staple crop is 'Luto' or ~ Rice.

In the USA, there is no one staple crop.
We have:
1. mashed potatoes
2. bread

---

In the United States, in big events like Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day, most Americans cook Turkey or Ham,

In the Philippines, big events like fiestas, pasko (christmas) or birthday events, they cook/order Lechon.

In a Filipino household, the family like to stick together and the kids are recommended by the family to live in the house until they are ready to support themselves.

In the 'states, the parents want their kids out by age 18. he he he he!

Filipino households advice kids to finish education and recommend them not to work, studies first. Work later.

In American households, American parents want their kids to work early to stress the importance of 'Work Ethic' and the knowledge of earning an honest day's work in earning a Dollar.

In Philippines, fathers drive the car most of the time, from place to place.

In the USA, the soccer mom/hockey mom drives most of the time. he he he!

In Philippines the kitchen table had merry go round in the middle lol. We even had more megamalls . Be prepared to take a bath with really cold water. No hot shower mostly unless you stay in the hotel.Other than eyebrow raising and lip puckering, ther next most expressive form of communication is grunts and pssst's. The daughter gets her ears pierced when she's 2 minutes old but your sons are not circumcised until they turn 21 hahahah.

lol circumcised at 21? whoa!

In philippines, families are so dependent on the yayas, and the maids and domestic helpers.

Here in the 'states, there are no such things as maids, or domestic helpers.

Just ourselves. he he he!

---

There is no such thing as 'courting' in the 'states. Its a race race race. hehehehe!

hmm, what else pa, American girls are direct. They like to ask you out, they like to take charge (most of the time), and they love a man's wallet. Ouch!

gotta find the right one wisely. he he he

In high school I was a football player, i was a Defense Noseguard for our football team. Our goal was to sack the opponent's quarterback or tackle the other team's offense capability.

After games, in the locker room, we would slap each other everywhere and laugh at it. lol.

When I tackled a quarterback or recovered the ball, another tackler from my team would bash his head to my head (both of us would be wearing our helmets, of course).

And shout, "Yea, baby!" and or usher horrendous curse words to signify our dominant glee in our opposing team's defeat. he he he

Over-stimulated, especially in foot ball games, we would chest-but each other. A show of male testosterone in full drive.

One thing I noticed about American culture, we have aggressive sports. No holds bars, baby...

I was born in the Philippines but grew up in the United States, raised here and think like any other typical American. One thing that I notice about Filipino parents and the older Filipino generation here in the USA is their inviting nature.

If I go over my Tita's house, they always offer food, and it is rude to reject, as prescribed in Filipino Culture. So we acquiesce.

In the United States, the American people maintain a "MYOB" (Mind your own business) attitutde, especially in the Tri-State Area where I live. New York-New Jersey-Pennsylvania Region. Any large urban area will have that 'hustle and bustle' attitude and Ive noticed the impersonal atmosphere in large American cities namely: Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York City.

Americans are very open, direct. To your face. Filipinos (in the philippines or recent immigrants) are more subtle, permissive, obeiscant. They say something but mean the other.

Americans love to shake hands. American Men shake hands when meeting new people. A firm handshake indicates confidence, assertiveness and control. The antithesis for weak handshakes.

We love our sports. American Football, Baseball, Hockey, Volleyball, racing, etc. All are popular American pasttime.

Man and Football and Beer is synonymous. hehehehe!
-----------

I do admire the Filipino Mano Po.
It is, in my point of view, the epitime of familial piety.
:)

I admire both cultures. Filipino and American.
As a Filipino-American, ive developed an appreciation for both.
Pride in my American patriotism, but respect for the culture of the MotherCountry (Philippines).

Father,
who art the Fount of Living Water,
who art the Creator of All Things,

Look not upon me and my friends as sinners,
but look upon us with mercy and lovingkindness,
as to receive our prayers,
and offer us the merits of our prayers,
the forgiveness of our sins,
the answers to our prayers, if it complies to Thy Holy Will,
Offer unto us, Father, a peace of mind,
an able body to do your Will,
and a renewed Spirit.

Lord,
forgive the sins of my friends, family, and myself.
May we be worthy to accept the Body of Christ, Your Only Begotten Son,
and Our Only Salvation.

Beg upon you Father,
that peace and the grace that comes from you and you alone,
be showered unto me and my friends.
From the crown of our heads to the soles of our feet.
Protect us Father, from all harm, physical and spiritual.
Keep us Father, at the end of the day.
And may we rise in glorious resurrection to see your Face
and to Enter Your Kingdom.

We ask this and pray in the name of Your Son,
Our Same and Living Lord,
Jesus Christ.
Who reigns with you and the Holy Spirit.
One God. Forever.
AMEN.

I'm not ashamed to let you know
I want this light in me to show
I'm not ashamed to speak the name of Jesus Christ.

What are we sneaking around for?
Who are we trying to please?
Shrugging off sin, apologizing
Like we're spreading some kind of disease
I'm saying "No way. No Way."

I'm not ashamed to let you know
I want this light in me to show
I'm not ashamed to speak the name of Jesus Christ.

This one (says) it's a lost cause
Save your testimonies for churchtime.
Other ones state you'd better wait
Until you do a little market research
I'm saying "No way. No way."

I'm not ashamed to let you know
I want this light in me to show
I'm not ashamed to speak the name of Jesus Christ.

I'm not ashamed to let you know
I want this light in me to show
I'm not ashamed to speak the name of Jesus Christ.

(music)

I'm not ashamed to let you know
I want this light in me to show
I'm not ashamed to speak the name of Jesus Christ.

I'm not ashamed to let you know
I want this light in me to show
I'm not ashamed to speak the name of Jesus Christ.
I'm not ashamed to speak the name of Jesus Christ.

I'm not ashamed to let you know
I want this light in me to show

that is the tactic for med reps. They send scantly clothed women with 3-4 inch heels to court the physicians to propagate med sales.

If the physician is male; they send showy-dressed female med reps; or if the physician is female, then they send male med reps.

Business folks have commercialized in the notion of 'Sex Sells', unfortunately.

September 10, 2009, 10:50:28 AM
When you are terminally ill, it is when one should increase his or her relationship with the Lord.
Death, in the scientific sense is a multi-tiered process. Acceptance of death and dealing with the anxieties of dying can be psychologically expensive.

In my limited experience with interaction with dying patients (mostly hospice patients), is this aspect. Denial or Acceptance.

Acceptance of one's terminal illness is from my observation, calming to the soul. It is the acceptance of God in your life and in securing one's eternal salvation.

In the end, we all die. The manner of our death and the time of our death may differ, but it is an inevetible invitation that we all will answer.

Acceptance and Trust in God's Lovingkindness helps in walking this last patch of road in one's journey in life. A trust in His Saving Grace will release the burden of pain, and in the end, shall bid one to see the Glorious rise of the eternal soul to the bosom of Mighty Providence.

For He is our Faith, Justification and Way.
There is no other way but through Him.
Through Christ, Our Eternal Risen Lord.
Who calls each one by name. :)

Yours In Christ,
Lorenzo

Trust is EVERYTHING.

I can be the most darling of friends to my friends, I am extremely loyal, and supportive.
But when a person who I hold dear ever violates my trust, it is hard to re-establish trust.

Its a one time thing.

A person is either trustworthy or untrustworthy.

If they lied to you, cheated, connived, squawked at you or friends before, there is no guarantee that the will not do it again.

Trust and Integrity are one in the same. You either have it or you don't.

For Men: (to do business)

1. Wear a suit.
2. Wear dark colors
3. Limit jewelry (a simple watch should do, don't over due the jewelry, it turns off the employer and could establish a negative rapport)
4. Choose your shoes wisely (black, formal, conservative)
5. Pick the right cologne. Establish the professional feel.
6. Shake hands, when meeting the partner. Match their grip. Firm if they are firm.
7. Talk in a cool and polite manner. Be conservative, don't make sexual inuendos, be  respectful; show cultural awareness.
8. Maintain eye-contact. It establishes confidence and trust.
9. Smile frequently, but make it feel genuine.

Feeling of Teaching.

Today was our first full Anatomy Lab Day.
I am the Teacher's Assistant in Medical Gross Human Anatomy I, and am in charge in teaching the human anatomy lab to 18 some students; part of Group A. 2 other anatomy TAs will cover group B, C.

So I want to let things out:

It feels different. I've TAd for undergraduate courses some 2 years ago, but this is totally different. You have total control in teaching the anatomy material; the ones i am covering tho is Upper Limb and Thoracic Anatomy.

Helping the students cut the cadaver, removing the superficial tissues, the skin, and the underlying adipose (fat) tissues. The feeling is good, knowing that you are helping your fellow student and professional colleagues. This is really what it means to be a doctor in training. To help and train your brother-in-arms. Its very humbling, this feeling.

I want to increase the confidence of my students. Many of them are worried about the material; too much material they say. I cannot make exceptions. I must cover everything. For their own benefit, and that of mine.

Every muscle, every vein, artery, bone, ligament, will be taught. I want them to know and retain the structure's name, function, innervation, blood supply, and clinical pathology. I want the best because I expect the best.

God is Great!

If one really gets 'trashed', the best thing to do is to drink liquids. Water or Gatorade; to re-establish electrolytes. And re-hydration.

The reason why a person gets a headache after drinking alot, hence the "hangover feeling" is because they dehydrated themselves. Alcohol, by nature, by biochemical composition, is a dieuretic. It promotes diuresis of H2O --> hence the heavy urination.

To evade the excessive feeling of hangover, drink water or electrolyte drinks after drinking a heavy 'cocktail'.

Cheers!

sumtyms life isn't fair....

Friend, your last statement was interesting to ponder on, "Sometimes life isn't fair."

I agree with that statement. Yes sometimes life really isn't fair. Sometimes the good people are attacked and the bad ones who lie, connive, and sneak, cheat get ahead. Sometimes the honest and prudent ones are stepped over by those who hold the anithesis of such virtues.

I tell you one thing tho, friend, don't worry about it. Do what you can, what you can, how you can, where you can with the time that you have.

Because I guarantee you this, friend, 110% that every thing you do, you say, you whisper, will be revealed and will be proclaimed in the rooftops. For the Lord God is not mocked. What people reap, they will sow. We must be mature about matters and remind them and or pray for them because trust me, The Lord will avenge. He is the Judge and Decision-Maker.

In the end, in Judgement Day, every single one of us, the good, the bad, will get what he or she deserves. Entrance into Paradise or Eternal Damnation in the Pit.

God Bless!
Be Good!

The Philippines is put in a really interesting position. She, as an independent rising power in the South East Asian region is being courted not only by neighbouring states, but is also being courted by the United States (the world's Hyper Power) and by The Kingdom of Spain, the mother-country.

The growing relationship between Philippines and Spain was made evident when President GMA visited the Kingdom in 2006-2007 and was recieved by HM Juan Carlos I.

Philippines is playing the strategic card.
Receiving aid and maintaining good relations with Washington and at the same time, opening new channels with Madrid.

The two countries, the Philippines and Spain should strive hard to sustain its bilateral relations and to reconcile the past, at the mind of most Filipinos especially what is taught in the academe, Spain contributed so much of our nations misery as if it were the doing of old Spain in feudal 1900's and most Filipinos mindset stopped there like a suspended picture in air. That's why most Filipinos thought of Spain as feudal, conservative and religious. but the modern Spain changed so much after the civil war as what keko said. It was transformed in a modern European country as what other countries in Europe do. If the Philippines can connect this transformation in mother country, may that's the time a Filipinos may attain progress.

Julius, what is also interesting is that what is taught int he academic curriculum in Philippine History is the Americanized version of Philippine History. We have to understand that prior to the Dufts Act in the early 20th century, the Philippines was administered as a colony, then later as an American Protectorate. But part of the American presence was the negation of the previous ruling power, namely the Spanish Colonial Government.

Strategically and tactically, the Americans dissauded Filipinos from using Spanish (reading, writing) and in place of Spanish, encouraged the learning and use of English as the national language (secondary to Tagalog).

The United States Yellow Journal Policy was to negate the Spanish presence as possible so as much as to facilitate the assimilatory process with the United States and the integration of the two societies as appropriated by the inclusion of the Philippine Islands to the United States as specified in the Treaty of Paris in 1898.

If one reads the old writings by the Spaniards and the Prelates prior to the outbreak of the Revolucion Filipina, the Spaniards also utilized political and religious propaganda to maintain the harmony between the Philippines and the Kingdom.

In this case, one colonial power was replaced by a larger and far more powerful colonial power. The latter colonial power granted the colony independence, and all that was taught, and facilitated by the latter power was kept (in regards to academic teaching) and continues on to this day.

In the words of Dr. Richard Turk, PhD, Professor of American History at Allegheny College,
"The Philippines prior to the Filipino Revolution belonged to Spain; after the Treat of Paris, the Philippines belongs to the United States."

I do feel for the American Citizen and those who are uninsured. I believe that every American (poor, middle class, wealthy) should have affordable medical care and insurance appropriated for them. But I am TOTALLY against government telling what a physician can and cannot do. And totally against government choosing what health insurance a citizen can have and cannot have. I want to make my own decisions am not comfortable in letting a beaurocracy making my decisions for me.

Totally against complete socialized medical provision.

Individuals should have the right to choose, and not government telling or bequething what citizens can and cannot do.

In the end, I will not be surprised if they settle for a dual system.

Ive dated irish-americans, and french-americans, ive felt more at ease with latina girls because we have very similar traits. Like going to church, my x would always stress me to go to church with her, or for us to have dinner together etc. Other white girls want you to cook for them, hahaha! which isn't bad. (; )

One of my longest relationships was with a Argentinian-American girl.

I was very close to taking her home to introduce her to my parents. Pero, hahaha. not yet :P

Julius, at then the Spaniards did not want to grant independence to the Philippines because it would have been crippling for her to loose the war to the Filipinos. Instead, when she was given the opportunity to 'save face' from the situation, she sold th Philippines to the United States for $20 million in the Treaty of Paris in 1898 after Spain's defeat to the United States.

In the late 19th century, Spain was already a fading power, and Madrid was in the midst of political turmoil during the war. It was inevetible that she was going to loose the war to the United States, which was the rising power.

It was after my Confirmation to the Holy Roman Catholic Church, on Easter 2007, that I went to our home parish at Our Lady of Lordes Roman Catholic Church. I went there at night, and went inside the Chapel. I was the only one there ( i think it was 8 or 9 pm then). The Blessed Eucharist was there and the candle light was on.

It was that night that I was touched by the Holy Spirit.
My evangelization initiated then. And He has been a powerful and Justifying force in my life.
The Holy Spirit is so good. So Kind.

@ Ricardo,

Yes, I realize that about some of my friends that are from Argentina, Mexico, And Honduras. They are quite conservative, and very Catholic. I realize this that we retained, in our cultures the old Catholic teachings that was spread by the Conquistadores.

Ive realized this, as well in historical analysis.

Many historians from Spain love to read the writings and periodicals in the museums in Mexico City as a way to study Old Castillian and even in studying the military history. It is interesting because it is the former colonies that are the sepositories of the old colonial mentality. hehehe!

Its interesting. To talk about this.

The government expects the church to pay taxes?
I'm not arguing that Spain should have the Catholic Church in power, I believe that religion and state should be separated, absolutely.

However, I just believe that the Catholic Church and Spain are culturally, inseparable. You cannot deny the fact that it was the Catholic Church that helped in the Reconquista of the Iberian Peninsula from the Moors. hehehehe!

Its iteresting to read your point, Ricardo, because most of my friends that are Latin American are very religious and traditional (Mexicans, Argetinians, Honduran, Cuban). Interesting to hear this tho! I love reading about it. Then again, I am not suprised since the government in Spain is a socialist form.
Thanks for updating us! Especialmente mi!

So would you say that the Latin Americans are more conservative than Spaniards?

Saludos! :)

Spain not any more conservative. :)

Remember Spain is one of the few countries where gay people can get married.
During last 30 years Spain has changed drastically. (after lot of years of disctatorship and restrictions the people were free) so the effect was like when you shake a champagne bottle, sooner or later because of the presure all that was locked inside the bottle will go out sudden.

That is what happened here. We passed from the old spain to the new in very "short" range of time.

But if you come you will see what we call the two Spains. The conservative and the liberated :)

:P

Amigo, I felt the liberal presence of Europe back in '06 when i stopped by Amsterdam before making a flight to Kiev, Ukraine.

Drugs are legal in Amsterdam, Netherland.

Excessive liberalism has led to the decay of the old and beautiful European cultural hearts. imho. This has been made self aware by the multiple rapport by Pope Benedict XVI and other religious men.

But I am interested in analyzing the progression of Europe. It is liberalizing, yes, but ive talked to some of my friends in Madrid, that there is a growing counter-culture trend. Due to the rise of Islamic and Basque terrorism. Its interesting to read about tho. let alone talk about it.

I think that Spain should maintain a conservative policy.
It needs to keep to its cultural heart. And religious role.
For centuries, it was Spain that was the guardian of Chrisian Catholicism.
It was the armies of Philipp II that prevented Sicily and southern Italy to fall under the control of the Ottoman Turks, and it was the Spanish Navy that prevented complete Protestant hedgeway into Spain and its territories. It was Spain that prevented the underbelly of Europe and Europe in general from falling into the control of Islamic Jihadism.

Latin American countries, are still quite conservative in policy, and it is a trait that they inherited from the Spaniards. Catholic Trait.

Philippines, is also still a conservative country, a trait we've inherited by the Spaniards.

For me, it would be a travesty to have Spain loose its Catholic Roots.

A travesty, indeed...

1 Corinthians 11:23-30 states, "For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. Whoever therefore eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself and so eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone hwo eats and drink swthout discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself."

This is important because this is the very verse in 1st Corinthians that motivated me to Eucharistic Adoration.

We partake of the Eucharist because it is COMMANDED of us by CHRIST OUR LORD to do so, He said to do so in REMEMBRANCE of Him. But we are reminded in 1st corinthians 11:29-30 that we must discern of the meaning of the body and blood of christ.

The Body of Christ is Salvation. We must discern it because we have to appreciate the meaning of His Sacrifice to Us. That this bread is Not any ordinary bread, no! This is THE BODY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. AMEN!

This bread is the Life! This is the Salvation of Our Soul!
Everytime we take it, bro, we proclaim the Lord's Death until He comes back in Judgement.

hehehe! God Bless!

John 6: 30-66: So they said to him, "Then what sign do you do, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you perform?  Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, `He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'"  Jesus then said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.  For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world." They said to him, "Lord, give us this bread always."  Jesus said to them, "I AM the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me; and him who comes to me I will not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me; and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up at the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day." The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, "I am the bread which came down from heaven." They said, "Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, `I have come down from heaven'?" Jesus answered them, "Do not murmur among yourselves. No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, `And they shall all be taught by God.' Every one who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me. Not that any one has seen the Father except him who is from God; he has seen the Father. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. I AM the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat of it and not die. I AM the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh." The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me. This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever." This he said in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum. Many of his disciples, when they heard it, said, "This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?" But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at it, said to them, "Do you take offense at this? Then what if you were to see the Son of man ascending where he was before? It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is of no avail; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But there are some of you that do not believe." For Jesus knew from the first who those were that did not believe, and who it was that would betray him. And he said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father." After this many of his disciples drew back and no longer went about with him.

1 Corinthians 10:16-21
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. Consider the people of Israel; are not those who eat the sacrifices  partners in the altar? What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be partners with demons.  You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.

1 Corinthians 11:23-30:
For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread,  and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me."  In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."  For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord.  Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.  For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself.  That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.

The Body of Christ, for some, just appears as a circular bread.

But for us, that piece of bread is the Bread of Life.

It is there, bro, because all who Call on the Name of Jesus Christ for Salvation, may recieve HIM.

That is not just bread. Through substantiation, that is the very Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Who was nailed in the Cross.

Yes, bro. Usually if your church has an adoration chapel, there will be in place of the crucifix, the Chalice and inside the Body of Christ.

Or sometimes, if the parish is small, the eucharist and chalice is placed in the main tabernacle.

What I do, bro, is i go to the chapel and bring the bible. Sometimes i go to the chapel instead of mass. Quiet and personal meditation and adoration of the Blessed Word.
Open yourself and your heart to Christ. You get a personal relationship with HIM that way.
Because the best place to pray is in a quiet place. The Chapel helps jud.

I try to go in the morning everyday, (sometimes dili ko ka make kai ma late ko sa school, he he he he). Ug mo adto ko sa buntag, there are older ladies doing Marian adoration. It took me a whle to adjust to the stares by Ukrainians and Russians.

I would get asked if I was 'Tartar, or Mongol' haha.

I would come out of Kiev Mohyla Academy of Law and Sciences, the institution that I stayed at for an exchange semester, and go to the gyro stand and the seller would always try to guess my ethnicity. Hahaha, what made me chuckle was being asked if I was Uzbek, hahaha!

No but, it takes a while to adjust to the stares; its natural since are visitors coming to a foreign country.

musta bro!

Here is a Tridentine Mass filmed:

I think if you ask your local parish priest or your regional diocesian bishop that you want to have a latin mass, he can schedule a priest to do a mass in Latin. As all priests learn latin in their seminarian years.

My good and kind friend, JR, who is a 1st year seminarian this year, is taking latin right now. :)

Ricardo, you, as a foreigner, will be under public observation since you are different from the fairly homogenous Filipino society.

My uncle, who is Irish-American, who goes back to Philippines w/ my auntie and cousin from time to time, does the best thing. And I advice the same: mingle with the people.

My uncle, who is Irish by background, has adopted the Filipino culture. He speaks Bisaya. And hangs around some of the locals, and family friends. Embrace the fact.

The people's stares is nothing negative, it is just a curious recognition of something foreign within their midst. Just say kamusta to them. hehehe!

Don't be shy. or in Bisaya, "Ayaw pa uwaw!"

hehehe!

You are a Spaniard, you should not be shy. Use your conquistadore instincts and interact. lol! C'mon, what would Magellan or Legaspi say if they were alive? hahahaha!

Laugh, friend!

Addendum:

A physician-surgeon has 2 enemies:
1. Death, his primordial foe.
2. The Lawyer (the medical malpractice lawyer).

Some of these lawyers are unreasonable. There is no 'cap' to medical malpractice.
Lawyers are getting richer, while the medical work force (especially our doctors) are suffering and forced to play a defensive role in medicine.

hehehe you know how much is spent in medical defense attorneys?
Over 100 billion dollars a year is spent by doctors to defend themselves from other lawyers.

And they wonder why medical health care is so expensive these days.

In regards to the 2nd article.

My response:

Don't blame the doctor, blame the HMO that puts rules and limitations in what a doctor can and cannot do.

A Physician must comply with the established laws and regulations, lest he or she looses his / her medical license. If he/ she violates these regulations, he / she is liable to legal action.

Which, am sure, the lawyers in their voracious appetite for medical malpractice, will 'attack'.

Best to see it in another perspective.

Let me give a personal motivational input.

Ive worked wth a great man, Dr. D. Villanueva, who is one of the best Cardiothoracic Surgeons in New Jersey. He is Filipino by ethnicity, and a physician-surgeon by trade. He is not tall, nor does he have a commanding presence, his voice is inviting, he is the reticent type. But when he opens his mouth, wisdom and knowledge permeate from every word that comes out of his mouth. Then you know that, wow, this man knows his 'stuff'. hehehe!

Brilliant and handsome mind!

Not just that, men like him are credited in saving hundreds (probably thousands) of lives.

It is then apparent to medical students, nursing staff, and patients that beauty does not come in the 2-3 thousand dollar suit one wears, or the 500 dollar leather shoes, or that rolex watch one wears, but it comes in a man. Suited in dark blue scrubs, surgical mask on. With disposable surgical shoes, with his utencils in hand and deep in work. The beauty in saving a life. And giving a patient with very little chance of surviving---the chance to live an additional 20-30 years--due to the removal of a benign tumor or removal of a obliterative hemorrhage that has impinged in the coronary artery, and insulting the myocardial abilities of the myocardial apparatus, itself.

Beauty in complete simplicity. hehehehe!
You can't get anymore beautiful than saving A Life.
nothing compares, no suit, no shoe, no car, no beauty appliance can compare. hehe.

Inspiring! You bet!

hehehe, that is what I call very fake and superficial people.

A person is to be seen not only through his / her appearance, but through their intellect, their mannerisms and their outlook, contributions, and their unique characteristic. hehe!

A man or a woman is made not only based on how he or she looks like, but based on their profession, their whit, their education, their intellect, their position in life. Their personal and professional etiquette.

hehehe, ug sexy ang tawo, pa sexy pood ang mannerism and how one carries himself/herself before people. Because actions speaks a thousand words.

:)

Earlier today, went to the OR to shadow some Cardiothoracic surgeons and thoracic surgeons. Observed the removal of 3 thoracic lymph nodes. I admired the surgeons' tactic.

Y incision, and removed the affected lympho nodes, application of beta and alpha interferon and heavy antibiotics, mostly 4th generation Cephs. After he was finished, then sutured the wound.

Quick, clean, astute!

The mastery of the Surgeon's knife.

I love it!
