Confess!

Jesus Christ is LORD!

#35002
"Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus, who, though He was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather, He emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance, He humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Power Of Prayer - For what kind of things should I pray?

God's help through the power of prayer is available for all kinds of requests and issues. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Bible Study / Re: Increasing The Power of Prayer

Power Of Prayer - How powerful is it?
The power of prayer should not be underestimated. James 5:16-18 declares, "…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops." God most definitely listens to prayers, answers prayers, and moves in response to prayers.

Jesus taught, "…I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" (Matthew 17:20). 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 tells us, "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." The Bible urges us, "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18).

Power Of Prayer - How do I tap into it?
The power of prayer is not the result of the person praying. Rather, the power resides in the God who is being prayed to. 1 John 5:14-15 tells us, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him." No matter the person praying, the passion behind the prayer, or the purpose of the prayer - God answers prayers that are in agreement with His will. His answers are not always yes, but are always in our best interest. When our desires line up with His will, we will come to understand that in time. When we pray passionately and purposefully, according to God's will, God responds powerfully!

Bible Study / Speaking In Tongues
October 30, 2009, 07:02:19 AM
Brothers and Sisters,

To those who are Christian: Catholics, Orthodox, Baptist, Coptic, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran etc,.

Who here has been to Church and in the beauty of that particular mass or heraldic event, was reduced to fervent glorification of God in Jesus Christ and in The Holy Spirit?

Several weeks ago, I attended a Pentecostal Church and saw through my very own eyes and heard through my very own ears members of the church, as we were praying to Jesus Christ LORD, being touched by the Holy Spirit. A member next to me, and in front of me were touched. They started glorifying and were speaking in tongues.

My IMMEDIATE response was amazement. As a Catholic, I am not used to seeing this. But over time, I was touched. Two days ago, as I was walking my daily routine, I want to share a touching event with you all.

As I was walking, I made a personal prayer to Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Then my prayers were muffled as I felt touched by the Holy Spirit. The hairs of my back rose, and I kept on repeating, 'Glory be to the Name of Jesus,' time and time again, and there were times when I could hear that I was speaking in tongues.

In the end, brothers and sisters, I was so very touched.
It was an experience like no other. Powerful jud kaayo ang experience.

This was my first experience in Speaking in Tongues, and I wanted to know lang which among you, here, fellow friends, that are Pentecostal or Protestant that speak in tongues when in prayer or are brought to it through the Holy Spirit?

Yours In Christ,

Increasing the Power of Prayer

1. Pray to God in the name of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
2. Surrender your problem entirely to God.
3. Your release should be total and complete.
4. Be humble. This is why many kneel.
5. Forgive all your enemies by name.
6. Have faith. Do not doubt.
7. Know that your prayer has already been answered.
8. Have patience. God is granting a perfect fulfillment.
9. Do not impose limitations which restrict God's answer.
10. Thank God in advance and praise Him.
11. Pray in a group of at least 2 or 3.
12. Petition church prayer groups to include your prayers.
13. Encourage small children to also pray.
14. Do not discourage prayer in tongues.
15. Persist. Do not give up.

In Jesus' Name,
AMEN!

Jesus said, "...persistance will be enough to make him get up and give his friend all he wants. So I say to you: Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For the one who asks always receives; the one who searches always finds; the one who knocks will always have the door opened to him. What father among you would hand his son a stone when he asked for bread?"

Bedo, good article.

How to raise one's HDL levels?

Eat alot of fiber, and eat fish. The Omega 3,6 from fish oil is clinically proven to strategically decrease LDL and raise HDL. Thereby increasing cardiovascular health.

Note;

Dengue Fever is in the verge of eradication. This disease will be liquidated from the face of the Earth in coming years.
Just as human medicine, defeated and totally wiped out Small Pox Virus from the face of the earth in 1979 through expansive UN-WHO-led vaccination program, so too shall be the fate of Dengue.

As we speak, the development and testing of Flavivirus Vaccine, the underlying cause of Dengue Fever, is being developed.

When this is developed, it will be exported globally. A global-vaccination program will completely wipe out Dengue. Just as how Medicine eradicated Small Pox.

Dengue Fever Remedy

I would like to share this interesting discovery from a classmate's son who has just recovered from dengue fever. Apparently, his son was in the critical stage at the ICU when his blood platelet count drops to 15 after 15 liters of blood transfusion.

His father was so worried that he seeks another friend's recommendation and his son was saved. He confessed to me that he gave his son raw juice of the papaya leaves. From a platelet count of 45 after 20 liters of blood transfusion, and after drinking the raw papaya leaf juice, his platelet count jumps instantly to 135. Even the doctors and nurses were surprised. After the second day he was discharged. So he asked me to pass this good news around.

Accordingly it is raw papaya leaves, 2pcs just cleaned and pound and squeeze with filter cloth. You will only get one tablespoon per leaf. So two tablespoon per serving once a day. Do not boil or cook or rinse with hot water, it will loose its strength. Only the leafy part and no stem or sap. It is very bitter and you have to swallow it like "Won Low Kat". But it works.

*Papaya Juice - Cure for Dengue*

You may have heard this elsewhere but if not I am glad to inform you that papaya juice is a natural cure for dengue fever. As dengue fever is rampant now, I think it's good to share this with all.

A friend of mine had dengue last year. It was a very serious situation for her as her platelet count had dropped to 28,000 after 3 days in hospital and water has started to fill up her lung. She had difficulty in breathing. She was only 32-year old. Doctor says there's no cure for dengue. We just have to wait for her body immune system to build up resistance against dengue and fight its own battle. She already had 2 blood transfusion and all of us were praying very hard as her platelet continued to drop since the first day she was admitted.

Fortunately her mother-in-law heard that papaya juice would help to reduce the fever and got some papaya leaves, pounded them and squeeze the juice out for her. The next day, her platelet count started to increase, her fever subside. We continued to feed her with papaya juice and she recovered after 3 days!!!

Amazing but it's true. It's believed one's body would be overheated when one is down with dengue and that also caused the patient to have fever papaya juice has cooling effect. Thus, it helps to reduce the level of heat in one's body, thus the fever will go away. I found that it's also good when one is having sore throat or suffering from heat.

Please spread the news about this as lately there are many dengue cases. It's great if such natural cure could help to ease the sufferings of dengue patients.

Furthermore it's so easily available.
Blend them and squeeze the juice! It's simple and miraculously effective!!

Treating patients with Dengue Fever is purely symptomatic.
Patients that are suffering from dengue fever will be dehydrated, and supporative treatment is mandated. IV transfusions to evade dehydration, nutritional supplements is necessary, and if the patient becomes anemic, we would provide platelet infusions as well or give the patient platelet hemopoiesis.

To provide symptomatic treatment, we would also give the patient paracetamol to alleviate back pains, and musculo-skeletal pain.

In severe cases, we will give antivirals such as Ribavirin, however, that is for rare cases.

Papaya juice as well as tawa tawa leaves and goat sweet potatoe skin help in increasing platelet count, thereby quickly alleviating anemic conditions and vastly improving conditions.

Papaya juice is indeed an effective herbal therapy.

To My Jealous Love,

I have watched you with an unblinking eye,
I have seen your eyes trace my steps with my peripherals,
I know that you stare when I am talking to other women in my batch.
I love it.

My Jealous Love,
Do you know how much that intrigues me?
And when you think I am busy talking with colleagues,
this man enrobed in white coat, with stethoscope around my neck,
has his attention focused on you.
Multitasking with work and you in my eye.

You said to me, "I am very jealous when you talk to other women."
And you say, "Does it scare you?"

I smile and smirk.

Darling. You and I. We are quite the same.
Intense.

I would not have it any other way.

The Best Kiss

As opined by: Bran Lorenzo

The best kiss is when a man is talking to his woman, gazing into her eyes, as she gazes into his,
His hand stroking her hand, her fingers rotating about,
With the other hand, she turns to her dorsal and strokes his bearded face, so softly, so delicately, so passionately.
He moves in close,
With his soft lips, he carresses her with kisses: on her neck, on her cheeks, softly and sensually nibbles on her ear lobes, then make his way slowly to her lips. Soft. The core. The heat of the soul radiating between their mouths.
Connect.

With hand, on face,
His to hers
Hers to his

Eyes in full gaze
The passion ignites the soul

The beauty of man and woman
Woman and Man.

The beauty of sensuality
The bliss of Love

How ethereal is the spirit,
How tantamount the flowers of Joyous Longing.

How beautiful it is to kiss a kiss
To taste the wonders made manifest in The Book of Songs.

How sublime it is to taste her best kiss.

In the dead hours of the night,
laying together,
stroking her face,
as she strokes mine,
the beat of her heart,
the beat of mine.

Two become One.
Rapture.
Eloquence.

Daghan baya mi ing choose nga dili pabakunahan kay mao gyud ni among concern.

Raquel,

In defense of the school districts that are vying for this strategic policy, the reason why they are doing this--in particular concerning the highly vulnerable population (young adults/ children and the elderly) as a preventative (prophylaxis).

Children within the age fo 7-18 attend schools (elementary to high) and are in close proximity to one another, and due to the congestion, there is easy transferability between students of aerosolized antigens. Bacterial, viral, can occur. That is why they are implementing vira vaccines in schools, the H1N1 flu vaccine is nothing but part of the vaccination program in schools to prevent any viral outbreaks that may devastate the population. It is all preventative.

And concerning the vaccine, the swine flu in the vaccines have been genetically debilitated, their protein cores have been dessicated therefore their strength has been debilitated, making it easily tagged by the body's COMP system, our antigen-antibody recognizing system, which is responsible for producing specific antibodies against specific antigens that are invasive in form. Due to the virus' debilitated form, its ability to evade the antigen-antibody system is weakened, making it a target of the host's macrophagial system, which is an essential part of the body's immune defense (specific and non-specific), therefore making it vulnerable to the NKCs (natural killer cells), neutrophils, eosinophils, band cells, and other post-progenitor WBCs.

In the end, the patient develops specific antibodies to the antigens, and a buffened immune system.
Host defense is augmented. Strengthened.

:)

Cheers,

World Daily News / Re: Swine Flu Panic in America
October 29, 2009, 07:23:11 AM
The swine flu vaccine is nothing but a regular flu vaccine, which is annually given to patients that are susceptible. If the patient is immunocompromised then it would be contraindicated. H1N1 is just a strain of H1N virus, which mutates annually. There have been about 100 deaths thus far in the United States related to H1N1 complications. Most of the deaths are children and/or young adults.

We can only provide symptomatic care, but taking high yield anti-virals (Tamiflu, Oseltamavir, Zanamivir) should be effective, as indicated by the NIH and CDC.

Continue to look over my family, friends, and loved ones.
Keep them all from all harm: physical, mental, and spiritual.

Watch over them in their sleep, Lord Jesus Christ.

Fiscally, California has failed strategic policy.
It spends more than it makes. As said by Statesville, the state of California, which runs on 'enlightened' Liberal Policy, is an example of a Welfare State.

Deficit upon deficit.

No. The future of America is not in California, but is on Southern States as well as the Midwestern States.
Too many illegal immigrants in California, millions upon millions of undocumented Mexican Immigrants. California is also the border state to a large drug-influx problem that crosses the border with Mexico. Deficit state.

We need more conservative fiscal policies. Social policies excluded.

I have alot of friends that are teachers in elementary school (1st, 2nd, -6th grade). It's rather humbling to hear about their personal stories in the classroom, and one cannot help but look back in time and remember the times how we were in elementary school some 15 some years ago. It really is amazing how time has past. One realizes, darn, wow, we really are 'old' now. hahaha!

I had a conversation with a friend some weeks back, she's now a teacher (she teaches Spanish in secondary school), and I was reminded how I was her Spanish partner back in high school in the 2001-2002 academic year.
MY reaction to her was, "Goodness Gracious, Eleana, where has the time gone?"
Her retort was a giggle here and there. And a yelp in compliance and agreement.

Daghan jud ko'g respeto sa mga teachers, instructors, professors out there.

In my life, as a professional student, and my tenure in undergraduate college--I have been molded and influenced greatly by the passionate flairs of my professors (History, Biology, Chemistry, Religious Studies) who allowed us students to find the intelligence and ability within us, through their instruction and through their own personal and professional experiences.

My friend and advisor, Barry Shapiro., Ph.D, a professor of History in the prestigious Allegheny College used to say to me in our frequent office meetings, "Al, don't ask what consequences occured through the action and expect all answers to be answered by whim. Some answers are left unanswered, unless you take the reigns of life and search for the answers and answer it for yourself."

Poignant and quite exuberant. My professors not only ignited my personal drive in studies, but, for more the less, encouraged me and my peers to strive for the best, to be confident in one's ambitions and to always, always, seek for the horizon.

Teachers are personal heroes.
From my 1st great teacher to my present Medical Clinical Instructor, I hold them on a pedestal.
Respect is earned. Teachers earn it quite honorably.

May the tribes of instructors, academians, increase.

In support of the posters in this thread,

I think a better source to follow would be the Bohol Historical Body and Library as compared to the Philippine National Historical Body, as their resources would be quite limited.

Now considering Bohol was once part of the Province of Cebu (prior to the edict of provincial proclamation that made Bohol an independent province independent of Cebu), I personally would search the historical libraries in Cebu for any old manuscripts involving the Blood Compact written by the individuals that took part in it or relatives of the some 500 Spanish conquistadores that oversaw the event.

Logistics, indeed, Glacier, is something we have to take into consideration.

We need to put ourselves in the mentality and mind of those living in that time period.

Good job, Bran. But my question was about the transfer of the actual site of the Blood Compact from Bool to Loay... how in the world did they miss that in the first place?!!! That's the issue I have. In fact, there are two markers now in Bohol, one in Bool and one in Loay. That is why they too have 2 celebrations of the re-enactment feast, one in Loay and the traditional Sandugo in Tagbilaran around July. Which is which? Hehehe.

I think it is appropriate to have two festivities to commemorate the historical event.
The discovery of the exact place of the historic blood compact is the mission of the Historical Body: Filipinos and Foreign. Theirs is the goal to identify the answer of our questions. We, as concerned and interested history students (as we all are students of history, he he he) cannot help but infer our own ifs/ands/or/buts about it as this matter does involve us. It involves our identity as Boholano, and the history of our people, our island, and its relation to the Spanish---and their 300-some year long history in the Philippines. Which, inevetibly shaped the identity of the Bol-anon and in a larger scheme---the Identity of the Filipino.

This blood compact is pivotal because it is where East meets West. I would not say that the Blood compact destroyed Bol-anon autonomy and Indigenous Culture, nay, I say the Blood compact began the rich culture and history of the Philippines--to which, without it, our identity as a Filipno would be non-existent.

Catholicism, Christianity, Our Names, Roman Law, Hispanic Religiousity (to which we inherited from the Spaniards), Familial importance, our names, our history, our Mixed Culture.

The present is a product of the past.
To know more about our colonial history means to know more about our identity.
We have to learn, and accept and see the pros and cons of colonial rule. Its our history.

My dear intellectual and educated brothers and sisters,
To whom I share a delectable interest in our communal history,
Let me say that I do enjoy this thread.

To answer the remark made by Hubag Bohol,
Sir, that is a good point and we all must take into consideration that Gobernador De Legaspi did not make a return trip from Manila to Nueva Espana or to Espana Madre, however, he did, as you stated, make regular correspondence with the Imperial Audencia as well as directly to the Royal Monarch, Felipe II--Rey De Espana y Imperador del Imperio Hispanoles. (Philipp II, The King of Spain and Emperor of the Spanish Empire). This was made known in:  "Cartas al Rey Don Felipe II: sobre la expedicion, conquistas y progresos de las islas Felipinas" (Letters to the King Sir Philip II: on the expedition, conquests and progress of the Philippine Islands). The letters are still preserved today at the archives of the indies in Seville, Spain.

Legaspi, who was also the first Gobernador of Las Islas Filipinas also made frequent and regular correspondence with The Viceroyalty of Nueva Espana and the Viceroy as well as with the Imperial Audencia, requesting monetary assistance, as well as military provisions and religious episcopal allignment that led to the conquest of Luzon, the Visayas and most of Northern Mindanao by the time of his death in the late 16th century.

He was so successful that The Audencia once remarked:
"After the islands had been conquered by the sovereign light of the holy gospel which entered therein, the heathen were baptized, the darkness of their paganism was banished and they changed their own for Christian names. The islands also, losing their former name, took--with the change of religion and the baptism of their inhabitants--that of Filipinas Islands, in recognition of the great favors received at the hands of his Majesty Filipe the Second, our sovereign, in whose fortunate time and reign they were conquered, protected and encouraged, as a work and achievement of his royal hands."

Source: Antonio de Morga. "History of the Philippine Islands". Project Gutenburg. Retrieved 2004-12-01.

The point I am trying to make, is that there are thousands of historical artifacts, and documents that are in the libraries of Mexico City, (as Legaspi was the mayor of Mexico City prior to his mission to conquor the Philippine Islands, as ordered by The Spanish King, His Imperial Spanish Majesty, Philip II, King of Spain and Lord of the Spanish Realms and Conquored Territories, Who by Grace of God--willed it that Christianity through Spain would supplant the paganism prior to Spain's Christian Crusade).

There may be letters, correspondence between Legaspi and Nueva Espana, as well as to his family members (as he did have 9 children, of whom did settle in Mexico City). I am quite confident that Legaspi definately wrote to them, in the letteres, and to his officers as well as to members of the Peninsulare Class. These letters, documents, would have been stationed, and preserved in one of the many libraries in Mexico and in Seville, Spain (for example).

It only requires a Filipino Historian who is well versed in Spanish (Old Castillian Dialect) to find these letters, papers, and translate them.

And a Lover of History,

To Way Nada and to Chicogon and others,

Great points, I do have one other proposal. We have documents (or copies of originals) in Bohol as well as in Manila, however, one should read the papers and the manuscripts by Legaspi himself and his officers or by notes written by the Imperial Audencia of Spain. There are documents (In Spanish) that document this interaction in present day Mexico and in The Spanish Kingdom. The Royal Spanish National Library and the Royal Parliamentary Library has thousands upon thousands of manuscripts (in original) that are vaulted between Spain and its conquistadores and colonies during the Imperial Epoch.

One should access the Spanish library to finalze the verdict.
Legazpi made the trip during the reign of His Imperial Spanish Majesty Philip II the Great.
Who ruled Spain's Vast Empire from the early 16th century to the ending of the 16th century.
Magellan named the Philippines after the Emperor, Philipp II, and Legazpi continued what the former failed in attaining. Which is the Conquest of the Archipelago.

Since Legaspi was sent to the Islands with a fleet under Royal Promulgation and Royal Patronage, Don Capitan Legazpi must have had Royal Papers that were signed and sealed with the Royal Approval, a legitimizing factor.

Original reports between Legaspi and any Indios of rank will be recorded by Legaspi as well as his officers. Legaspi would have met with the Spanish Monarch in a later date to report to the King of the status of the expedition, the pros and cons, and would have made requests to the King and the Privy Council of the necessary equipment, and man power to cement the conquest of the entire archipelago. This interaction between Monarch and Captain would have been recorded by the ministers and documented and stored.

I am sure that the Spaniards have a verification copy in their Royal Libraries.

In a discussion I had with my mother recently, I found out that my great-grandfather was a Castillo (Spaniard) who settled in present day Valencia-Garcia Hernandez region, he was a merchant and came from Southern Spain. It is interesting to learn about one's history and as I discussed more about our geneology, I asked my mother about Lolo. Then in my father's side, his great-grandfather, who was the Provincial Treasurer of Bohol during the Spanish period, whose name was: Don. Execal De Torrero. He himself was also a Castillo from Nueva Espana (present day Mexico). Apparently, the stereotype of the mga Castilla (Spaniards) were that they were very strict, and very hardcore in their policies.

Its rather interesting learning about personal geneology and family history and at the same time applying that to historical analysis of the Spanish Empire and its presence in Latin America and in the Philippine Archipelago. Quite two-dimensional in analysis. Love it.

I also found out that my great-Lolo was very stricto, he was a merchant in his day, but at the same time, was also a family man, who had familial objections. The Spanish elite were also laborious with the Filipino Natives, as from what I hear. It was a classed society. With all the pros and cons of classed society. It's interesting to hear about it, especially when it affects one personally.

I just wanted to know what is the Boholano's View of the Spanish and the stereotypes that our ancestors proliferated about the Spaniards during the colonial period. Or if any of you have Spanish ancestry, do you know any history about your relatives? What they did, and where were they from?

I myself am trying to find out more about my family's geneology. Perhaps we can all help each other out in this process.
Advanced Thanks!

To Ms. Blue and all others that are not part of the three professions I listed:

Don't be discouraged if your profession was not listed. That does not mean your profession is any less important that what was listed, nay, for every job in society has its own importance and role in society. Just as there are many different body parts in the human body, one cannot say that one body part is more important than the other; as each body part (the ear, the hand, the foot, the finger, the heart, the lung, the stomach, the bladder, the brain, etc etc) all have a particular role, and function. And all together make up a symbiotic relationship of tissues which makes up --> THE BODY.

Just like what the bible says! he he he he!

1st Corinthians 12: 12-26

12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one bodyâ€"Jews or Greeks, slaves  or freeâ€"and all were made to drink of one Spirit.

14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts,  yet one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

I did forget one thing:

The priests, ministers, pastors: Their role is pivotal, as they provide religious and spiritual awareness and faith-constructing ministries. Which, in a micro-macro-scopic point of view, provides mental and spiritual water for any worker in society. Peace of mind/ Mental clarity is necessary. Since Man is a communicating / complex being with distinctly/uniquely existentialistic tendencies (it is the prime character that distinguishes man from animal).

ngaks mao diay na 3 impt. dong Bran? tsk³
hope it doesnt mean , other profession are irrelevant - peace jeje³

Miss Blue,

Of course it does not mean that other professions are any less than the ones that I listed; the three that I listed were in my view, the ones necessary for societal function.

Education is prime. Always. It is the duty and role of the teacher, professor, instructor to educate students in their respective fields to mold and train future technocrats into their respective professions/strengths in society. The teacher's responsibility is to create doctors, nurses, engineers, dentists, pilots, construction workers, artisans, etc out of the mass of children/ students. Education, in my point of view will always be the core profession of any society. The teacher is the molder of societal basis: the individual. The future of any society and the direction it marches toward is transcendental on the finances to provide education, educational facilities, and resources.

Medicine/Nursing is second because it is the role of the Physician and Nurse to heal and repair the workers of the system (society) and to get them back into tip-top shape (he he he) so that they can go back to their roles/professions and maintain easy/smooth transition. The role of the physician/nurse is to care for the health of the entire society, assess any viral outbreaks, treat any debilitating diseases that can be pivotal and catastrophic to the financial arm of the nation (by harming and ailing the working class/ the proletariat). Then of course there are tertiary members of the greater arm that is Medicine;--the allied health workers that collaborate in expediating the role of the physician in treating the health of the nation/society.

Engineering. Engineering because it is one of the ancient of professions. The bridges, streets, houses, skyscrapers, underground structures, railroads, airports, ships, tankers, oil rigs, etc. All the structures that facilitate and expediate the exchange of communication, economic trade, military movability, medical availability etc and educational transferability all depend on the Engineers and the construction workers that are supervised by the engineers. The Engineers are the maintainers, the stewards of a nation's infrastructure. Society will not work without the presence of skilled, educated, and hardened Engineers. The Engineer's role and importance is invaluable. His is the role of maintenance, and projecting communication, trade, military fastidiousness.

Everything else such as; The Arts are beautifications. It beautifies society, for the mental and psychological well-being of the inhabitants.

One could say: a Symbiotic Relationship.

Bible Study / Faith To Move Mountains
October 24, 2009, 01:09:04 AM
Egypt has always been associated with supernatural signs and wonders. It was in the land of Egypt that some of the most awesome Bible signs were wrought under the rod of Moses. Egyptians hunger for the supernatural, and one of the greatest miracles in the Middle-Eastern church was purportedly accomplished in Egypt. Many Egyptian Christians believe the following account to be historical fact:

In the 10th Century Fatimid Caliph Al Muizz, an enlightened man, often invited religious leaders to debate in his presence.

In one of those meetings Pope Abram, the spiritual leader of the orthodox Egyptian Christians, debated an adversary named Jacob Ibn Killis. The Coptic Pope waxed eloquent in the debate. Plotting to take revenge, Ibn Killis quoted the New Testament verse in which Jesus declared, "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." (Matthew 17:20)

The Caliph demanded that the Coptic Pope demonstrate the veracity of his faith by means of moving the Mokattam Mountain. (The Caliph saw a practical opportunity to remove the Mokattam, which was spoiling his view. At the same time, if the Copts proved powerless, it would signify that the Christian religion was false, and they could be destroyed.)

And so, taking the Biblical pattern found in the Book of Esther, after three days of earnest prayer and fasting by Christians throughout the land of Egypt, a simple shoemaker named Simon was chosen for his humility and faith to command the mountain to move. At that time, the Coptic Christians were engaged in handicrafts for livelihood. Simon worked in one of the crafts widespread in Old Cairoâ€"tanning, which is a craft still known in the bazaars to make shoes and leather goods.

Simon simply believed that mountains could literally be moved, just as the Bible says! Under his faith commands, a great earthquake swept over the mountain. Each time the people stood up to worship, the mountain was thrust upwards, and the sun could be seen shining underneath it. When the people sat down, the mountain thrust down. This was repeated three times, and because of this miracle, the mountain was moved and the Christian community was saved.

Simon was never seen again. It was popularly believed that he disappeared to avoid receiving any glory or credit for the miracle. Today in Egypt he is beloved by Christians and many Muslims as Saint Simon the Tanner--St. Sama'an, in Arabic--and a monastery was dedicated to Simon nearly a thousand years after his mountain-moving miracle.

The monastery and a beautiful cave cathedral lie behind the Zabbalin village of garbage collectors. This village was established in 1969 when Cairo garbage collectors, many of whom are cultural Christians, were moved to one of the hills of the miracle Mokattam Mountain.

At the far end of the “garbage” village, awaits an unexpected, stunning place; a vast open space lying in the bosom of the hills, with dramatic colored carvings by a Polish artist decorating the miracle mountain. The artwork presents stories from the Bible such as the Holy Family’s journey to Egypt. The main Cathedral is named after St. Simon to commemorate the transfer of Mokattam Mountain in November 979. The power of God is said to be moving there. The believers in Egypt are crying out to God for major miracles to happen again in their land, and for those who are asking for prayer, See what one Prayer Can Do!!!

There was never really a time that I felt God left me, there were, however, times that I felt I was being tested: in faith, in work, in patience, in everything.

When I do feel stressed and in need of emotional support, He always makes Himself present in my life through the warmth of friends, the voices of family, and His REAL Presence in the Blessed Sacrament.

Bro, in trying times, that is when our faith must increase all the more. You have a handsome and beautiful faith, bro. Keep it shining for all the house to see. :)

Anna, love indeed is everything.
For Our Lord and God IS Love.

May you always have the strength to provide for your family, and to all the OFWs out there..may you all be encouraged in Faith in God, who appropriates for all your hard work. In the provision of family.

God Bless all our OFWs, who sacrifice, in the name of Family and Love.
Family and the Love of Family, is a core tenent in Catholic Catechism.

The Love of Family is the microcosm of God's Love for All Creation. :)

Our loved one's sacrifice for the family by going abroad--to forsake their personal wants in order to satiate the thirst of the needs of the family---is a microcosm of God's Love and Sacrifice of Heaven's Perfect Lamb--Jesus Christ--so that Man would be saved from eternal perdition.

As I said, Love of Family--is a microcosm of The Eternal Father's Love for all Creation and Mankind.
That He would send His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and to die on the cross for the salvation of all.

There is a bible verse that my Mommy always tells us and shares with us,
Matthew 4:4, "Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."

Meaning ani, we cannot always trust our own skill and our own abilities to carry the day. For all these skills are passing, and are but a gift of Providence. Instead, we should put our trust, and our FERVENT FAITH in Jesus Christ, who so loved us that he died on the cross to satisfy our transgressions and sins.

God always provides. It is ours to ask and seek his Blessings of Grace. And it is HIS job to provide Grace to those who seeketh and asketh.

I don't want to sound irreligious, but I agree with Ms. Hofelina. In the context of the issue in this thread, unsa man intawoy kalambigitan sa pangadje ug sa quality time?

You and Manay Tess have a point,

Para nako, and from what my parents always say to us while we were growing up, "In God you must put all your trust, Anak. For HE will provide."

Sure, we had hard time growing up settling in the 'states, my parents working hard hours to provide for 4 children and paying for 2 kids to got an expensive college (both my sister and I attended Allegheny College in PA, USA). And the same time my 2 younger brothers attend private catholic schools.

Though my parents worked hard hours, they were always able to manage time with us--and very big man sila sa power of prayers. We always do Novena to the Blessed Santo Nino, at least once a month. Together as a family.

And, by Grace of God, naka human man ko sa college, ug ahong igsoon baji. Kami duha medical students now, and my younger brothers doing well in their studies pajud.

Because we are reminded by our parents (our beloved Mother and Beloved Father) to always, always, REST AND TRUST IN GOD.

God will always provide. In HIS own way. Just got to have trust in HIM. and in HIM alone.

AMEN!

3 important and essential professions in Society:

1. Teaching/Education
2. Medicine/Nursing
3. Engineering
#35075
Para sa nako, daghan ko'g respeto sa mga Engineer kai mura man ahong mga pariente Engineer or Medicine. My uncles (my father's brothers) are all Engineers, and one an M.D. My uncles in my maternal side are also all engineers. One in UAE and another in Riyadh, SAUDI. Daghang ko mga cousins that are also Engineers or Engineering students (mostly: Civil, Mechanical, Chemical).

Kuyawan ko sa mga mathematics and autocad/ied skills sa mga engineers. Math is like nothing for them. My father, who is a graduate of CIT in Civil Engineering, and was a company supervisor in Riyadh, SAUDI, used to tell me how hectic it was not only designing bridges and roads, then running a company of some 200 filipino laborers, then at the same time, communicating with the Arab employers etc.

Its a mixture of Engineering, math, community directing, and managerial skills, all into one.

I used to say to my dad, "Dad, mo pursue na lang ko ug Engineering", he used to retort, "Ayaw na lang, 'doy. Medicine na lang" LOL.

Pero, I do really admire and respect Engineers.
Engineers--they are the builders of society, maintainers of society's superstructures, and the creators and laborers of new mechanical processes for medicine and science in general.

All these new heart SA nodes, and orthotic prosthetics are all invented and designed by Biomedical Engineers.

Engineering Power!

GO GO ENGINEERS!

To the Immaculate Heart of Mother Mary, the Mother Of God,

TO Heart of My Sacramental LORD, JESUS CHRIST,

My Lord Jesus Christ,
I am quite worried, Lord, for it is the birthday of my grandfather, Mr. Casiano Salise Salvo Sr.
Lord, I offer unto you my prayers and my request of your lighted grace to be with my grandfather, who is my love and the source of my many tears. Lord, grant my grandfather a healthy life, and many more years to be in this wonderful world that is Your Creation. Lord, grant him a peace of mind to be at peace with with you and to know that he is loved and beloved by his brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Eternal Risen Lord, Jesus Christ, who art the Only begotten son of GOD the Father, I beg that you continually watch over my grandfather, his heart, his soul, and his body.

I thank you Lord, for giving me a loving Lolo.
I thank you Lord, for allowing me to grow with him,
and for you to allow me to be born in such a family.

Lord, I also entrust to your care, the health: mental, physical, spiritual of my entire family.
Care and watch over my beloved Father, my beloved Mother, my beloved sister, and my beloved brothers. Who are my heart and soul.

Dry up these tears of mine, which cry in earnest for missing them. Shower into our lives, your strength and your confidence, that you alone can provide. This I ask and beg in Your Name, Lord Jesus Christ, my fountain of salvation, my rock on whom I stand in firmament.

Blessed Mother Mary, whose most Immaculate Heart was chosen by GOD THE FATHER to bear his Precious Son, Jesus Christ Lord--who is the WORD MADE FLESH--who took form of man in your womb, who was flesh of your flesh, blood of your blood, sweat of your sweat. Pray for me and my family, O Holy Mother, O Most clement, most loving, Mother Mary. Pray to your Son, Jesus CHirst, who is my Lord and Savior---to hear my prayers. And to answer them in accordance to the Divine Will of His Father Who Is In Heaven.

Kindly whisper our prayeres to the Heart Chris Savior.
Blessed Mother Mary pray for me.
Heart of Hearts, Jesus Christ, pray for me.

Good point, brother!

Even if we must work an extra hour or so for our family, we are strengthened through our Prayers to God. Who is delicate to hear our prayers. While we work, HE watches over our loved ones in body and spirit.

He who strengthens us gives us the power and energy to work to provide for our loved ones, and at the same time, allows us to see joy and happiness with our loved ones when we have time off.

TO GOD BE GLORY.

Mao jud brod. Prayer and prayer. Sa kadugajan, mapul-an na nimong Ginoo ug paminaw sa imohang prayer ihatag lagi na Nija sa way oras. You will see it.

Brother, I will give you a secret:

Pay not to any attention to those who are jealous of you, who envy and connive after our dreams and aspirations, which are GUARANTEED in JESUS CHRIST LORD. Remember that.
There are dusts and pebbles that are set before us, wickedness is in their hearts, and to wickedness shall be their fall. for it is promised by God that the fate of the wicked will be their fall. But to us, who are filled with Faith In Christ's Divine Mercy, shall be victory, the crown of our trials and tribulations. Remember that. Don't forget it.

Beware of the sweet talks of the wicked, with the same tongue they will talk good about you in front of your face, but behind your back, they will plot and reiterate curses. Theirs is a tongue of transgression, and molestation in the face of GOD WHO IS PRESENT IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT.

Be direct, be secure, be confident in your actions, your mindset, and your decisions---by Grace of God---to procure what is set out to procure, and to learn what it set out to learn. Through Mercy and Justice in Christ Jesus.

-----

Pray, Pray, Be Direct, Be Honest, Be Resolute, and Pray all the more.
You will see, my brother in Jesus Christ, that the wicked will fall, through their own doing.
They will plot, but their plans will come to no avail, they will connive, but the very footing they stand will buckle and fall.

For the LORD GOD is not mute, nor is he deaf, nor is he blind.
For the faithful and those who Fear the LORD will be recipient of HIS GRACE.
And HIS DIVINE MERCY.

Pray. Through Prayer, you can do.

"For we can do ALL THINGS through HIM who strengthens us"

Filipinas in general, are beautiful. The women of our country is Beauty made Manifest.

Filipinas are incomparable. Our women have the softest lips, beautiful almond-shaped eyes, noses that are edible for kisses, and a face that is sovereign. With bodies that are second to none. With personality and faithfullness that are to be envied and vied for.

The Filipina is a mixture of so many varying flavors.
The Sharp features of the Spaniard, The fair skin of the Chinese, the Gorgeous body and exotic tan and beautiful eyes of the pure blooded Malay mixed into one. This equates: The Filipina Mestiza.

Wow.

Is there even a comparison?

Filipiniana na jud ang beauty. Gi sagol ug Castillo, Inchik, Pilipino = Filipiniana Beauty.

I do find it interesting lang because her maternal grandfather hails from Leyte, and my entire paternal side hails from Souther Leyte. It is quite interesting lang how very different Illongo is from Bol-anon, though we can pick up the meaning.

So Mike, the Illongo word, "Gihidlaw" is similar to the Cebuano/Bol-anon word, "Mingaw"?

Dugay lagi mi duha nag pagita!!!

Gi ingnan ko sa ahong mahal, "Albrando, where have you been all my life? What have you been doing?"
I told her, "I have been here. And in medical school. And God put you in my path, as well as HE put me in your path."
Her eyes widened. Searching deep into my soul.

Brother, this one, is an extension of my persona. I do believe and I am in profound adoration of the Blessed Word. For He has allowed me to find my love of my life. Though we have known each other for only 3 months---it seems as if we have known each other for DECADES. She knows my idiosyncracies, to the teeth. As well as I do for her. We are so very similar, sometimes we even complete our sentences...when we don't mean to. lol.

How wonderful and joyous it is, to find someone in the profession that I am in, with interests that I have, with cultural heart that I have, with a family that is like mine.

Truly, Truly, Truly, GOD is GREAT.
He has answered my prayers. Completely.
Mo ampo ko, and ipadajon ahong gi ampohan nija.
POWER OF PRAYER.
POWER OF GOD.

Thank you so much for the link.

Brothers Gener and Gwargz:

How helpful is attending CFC meetings?
My own relationship is rather strong yet very young. We have been dating for just 2 weeks, but have known each other for about 3 months now. One thing that I like about my love, the same is reciprocated to me, as she says, is that we are both open in religious experiences. She is a big rosarian. She prays the rosary quite often, which, I must admit, I have not kept up to date, personally. Very big sija sa adoration sa Saints, and in Feast Days of Saints. Which, I think is a breath of fresh air into my own soul.

I admit that for the last year and a half since beginning med school, I have attended weekly masses, as well as sing for our Church Choir, but have mostly maintained a deep and personal biblical study on a daily basis. Gi re-introduce ko ni Stacy (my love), to Catholic Prayers--which she has a booklet of and Catechism information.

We do go to Mass together, but Am wondering if CFC would help strengthen our new-found relationship all the more.
She is, a very big into Catholic Christian Teachings, which, by God's Grace, is surge for me.

I need to pray with my rosary more often, though.

I am planning to visit Philippines by Summer of 2010, I do wonder if anyone here has visited Ilo-Ilo City and/ or Bacolod City. If you have, what are the hot spots in those cities?

I do plan on touching down in Cebu/Bohol, but have plans in visiting my paternal side's home turf of : Leyte and Samar.
As well as visiting Ilo-Ilo and Negros Province.

Never really realized how big 'The Visayas' was. So much to visit, to see, to taste, etc etc.

Dear Ladies, Gentlemen, Linguistic Experts, Story-tellers, Writers, Journalists, Friends,

I have a question for all of you expert Visayan speakers. How different is Cebuano/Bol-anon compared to say: the visayan dialect spoken in Bacolod (Negros) and Illongo?

My love is Illongo/Bacolod, and I did try to speak to her in Cebuano-Bolanon, she understands some words, but the majority of the things I'm trying to say to her she makes fun of me (in jest) as sounding as "Tic Tac Toc" hahahaha! Bastos uy!

She's trying to learn some Cebuano/Bolanon (as im trying to teach here some) and at the same time I'm learning some Illongo from her (though she's quite limited, since she's American-Born) hahaha!

One thing I find interesting is that she says 'Jud' as "Gyid"
hahaha. Visaya. Its so complex and beautiful or beautiful and complex? hahaha!

The setting sun in view,
I lay down on leather sofa,
A glass in one hand, Sauvignon Blanc
The sound of Sade playing,

Out of the balcony, you come to me,
Back and forth, to and fro
Your body in tempest, has raptured my attention
Total

Hand in Hand,
Clasped
One
I rise, with glass in one hand,
With the other, I twirl, you twirl,

Darling, you dance,
Darling, my eyes cannot take its glimpse from you
Darling, your eyes piercing my soul

Our bodies are touching,
Your back on my chest,
My arm around  your chest,
One heart
One beat

Dance, You Dance
Dance, You Dance
Smile, You smile
Watch, You watch

I am home
with
you.
I am at home
with
you
I feel at home
near you
I do not want to let go.

Dance, You Dance.
Into My Heart.

Its yours.
I am  yours.
