sayang morag ako na man lang ang one of the boys nga baye dinhi.  hilit na si mdb ug wa na man mogimaw si scarb ug aspo.  ang ubang chicks dinhi (raqz, hof, states, etc.) as individuals are a class of their own.  feeling ko ako na lang ang bajeng bajot.

Women don't bathe everyday:

Not all women bathe everyday, no matter how much they profess cleanliness and hygiene. They rely on deodorants and perfumes to smell good.

Hmm, but then again, daghan man laging migawas pagkapari, where's the constancy?

nganong iphon man ang nigawas sa pagkapari nga mas daghan man ang nagpabilin?  the constancy referred to is the vocation, not the person who may or may not become a priest, nor a priest who may or may not remain as one in form though not in substance.  ("You are a priest forever." - Hebrews 7:17.)

QuoteAs for her passion, who are you to say?

yes, it is not for me to say about the passion of this thread's poster; it is for me to glean that passion from her posts.

being a female myself, i would be too remiss if i didn't make some conclusions (not immutable ones, i must stress) even from the fact alone that she was compelled to start this thread and pour her heart out with such acute despair. ;D

OT: a priest friend of mine almost didn't make it to ordination.  for the love of a woman, what else.  he was on training for clinical pastoral psychology at the u.s. at that time.  he wrote to his mother about his change of plans.  he happens to have a down-to-earth mother with a temper to boot.  she answered with a one-page letter, containing only these two words repeated many, many times over: 'peste ka!'  da, lahos ang ordinasyon ni ondo.  until now, he's a very good priest.

Please, I beg you, do not tempt him, have some sense of reverence for their position and their duties.

What Kind of Fish are You?

By Kalliopi Monoyios
November 21, 2011

I can’t say for certain whether New York based photographer Ted Sabarese had science or evolution in mind when he conceived of this series.  But I’m almost glad he never responded to my follow-up questions about his inspiration behind these.  Part of the fun of art is its mirror-like quality: everyone sees something different when faced with it because everyone brings a different set of experiences and expectations to the table.  When I look at these I see equal parts “you are what you eat,” “your inner fish,” and “United Colors of Benetton.”

this institutionalization of medical tourism in our country is actually good for our economy.  tourists are a source of revenue, so if some come for the chocolate hills, why not others for our hospitals?

we have some of the world's best medical practitioners, but so far thailand, singapore and india still beat us in medical tourism.  heaven forbid that we end up with a reputation as a good source of human organs for transplants, like india.
#34840
Quote from: chicogon on March 24, 2012, 10:17:38 AM
Y man tourism tawag ani? Tourist diay ang pasyente hehehe  ;D

it's true.  patients are treated as tourists.  this looks like an offshoot of medical tourism.  i read up a target plan of a certain government agency of ours; it includes medical tourism, with named hospitals like st. luke's, makati medical center, heart center, and others that are 'enrolled'.  it means they are accredited hospitals where medical tourists go straight and everything, from airport arrival to hospital check-in, insurance payments, etc., is already arranged.  nothing is mentioned about organ transplant, naturally.
#34841
no question.  it's unethical.  i shudder at the thought that healthy people from poor countries are kidnapped and killed for their spare parts.  unsa man tawon ni sila, unsa man tawon ta, auto?  maayo pa gani ang auto kay di patyon.

Dandansoy

Dandansoy, bayaan ta ikaw
Pauli ako sa Payao
Ugaling kun ikaw hidlawon
Ang Payao imo lang lantawon.

Dandansoy, kun imo apason
Bisan tubig di magbalon
Ugaling kun ikaw uhawon
Sa dalan magbobonbobon.

Kumbento, diin ang kura?
Munisipyo, diin hustisya?
Yari si Dansoy makiha.
Makiha sa paghigugma

Ang panyo mo kag panyo ko
Dal-a diri kay tambihon ko
Ugaling kun magkasilo
Bana ta ikaw, asawa mo ako.
#34858
ugh, there are just too many claims about dandansoy.  courtship dance.  tuba dance.  whatever.  it's better to bring it down to its most basic and most believable...

it's originally an ilonggo song, claimed largely by the negros occidental ilonggo (hiligaynon) rather than the aklan ilonggo (kinaray-a).  it's popularity though had it translated into other visayan languages.  there's even a tagalog translation.

leyte claims the song too; so does cotabato.  cebu and bohol i guess simply sing it; being good singers, no claims to its origins are needed.

it was composed in the 1930s by ilonggo poet augorio abeto.  the abeto family name is certainly ilonggo.  this is the first time i came across a name like augorio.

dandansoy is a name of a boy.  some claim that it's a "derivation... from five words, a very rare occurrence if not impossible in any visayan language morphology".  well, i still have to meet a guy named dandansoy nowadays.

payao is a place in binalbagan, negros occidental.   the sample youtube video starts with the chocolate hills.  don't tell me our tarsiers claim they composed the song? ;D

Kakyut! Are you placing your slipper there as an indication to their size?

they dragged my slipper there.  had they been teething puppies, that slipper may not have survived.

(tip to those with puppies: always provide something for them to chew on to save your slippers.  there are chewable items just for teething puppies in pet stores.  my father had a more homegrown tip; bunot ang paduwaan.)

daan pa lagi kong bol-anon ni si bishop bastes.  taga-loboc.  diha man pod toy usang svd nga bastes, taga-baclayon.

surely, what he meant by 'saint' in alluding to pacquiao is more figurative than literal.

How often we have received enlightenment from them regarding both spiritual and temporal matters: sudden impressions which surprise us when we least expect them; moments when our hearts feel urged to offer love to God; reminders about prayers to be said or forgotten duties or kindness that were neglected, but which should be performed; a sudden answer seemingly coming from nowhere to a question that perplexes us; a recollection of a friend long forgotten who might be in need of prayer; a pious thought or remembrance while we are in the midst of recreation, amusement or some busy occasion. All of us at one time or another have experienced these moments, but did not realize where they came from. Perhaps while we endeavor to grow closer to our guardian angel, we can be more attentive to those "inspirations" that suddenly come upon us and then realize that it is our "heavenly friend" who is responsible for them.

i've had these experiences countless of times.  often, i attribute them to esp, relegating angels to my mind's back burner.  ingrate.

doubtless mothers are always right.  don't be afraid, your guardian angel is walking with you, my mother said when i first tried to walk to school alone.

thanks, tb.com.  that at least is good news.  gisayonan ba uroy ug tuok ug 2-year-old, kaugalingon pang anak.

klaro beyond the news item nga daghan nig complications nga panimalay.  i don't want to sound like a quack psychologist, but common sense would tell us that the stay-at-home guy's very low self-esteem is what's eroding him.  he's so bored he could kill.  but he has no one to blame but himself.

Inappropriate. Isn't it perfect as it is now? Unless, of course, the correct spelling of some angel's name is Lucifel... ;D

what about isrander, aron hapon na lang.  di na lang ko mangambisyon ug angel. ;D

Airlines today are planning to charge double for overweight passengers.

this is real discrimination.  kun nagpasabot ni nga duha ka lingkoranan ilang ipa-reserve unya detachable ang armrest, fine.  pero kun usa ra ka seat, the airline needs to review its policies.

tukhionon na daan kun unsay limit sa saktog timbang.  naa bayay sakto sa gidak-on pero ang gibug-aton pareha ug world war 2 barge.  so is it the weight, or breadth?  either way, it's discrimination.
