Ate Ging,
Kamusta naman ang status ni Ondy Matthew? He is doing fine now is he? I did a check up on this and looked this up and it seems that ondoy Matthew has symptoms of ETEC (Traveler's Diarrhea).

Baby Matthew was probably placed in normal saline to re-establish fluid volume and prevent dehydration.

My advice lang is to make sure he is given fluids and electrolytes. Chicken noodle soup and water should suffice. And to make sure he is not deficient in vitamins, put him in centrum (multivitamin supplement); as this is essential for proper development of a child, particularly in his age.

We are wishing the best for his recovery and for Ate Lumine.

To God be Glory.

Inspiration & Hope / The Beauty of A Mother's Voice
February 18, 2010, 12:33:35 PM
Today, I was at work. Then I got a phone call from my mother. I must say that before my mommy (yes, I still call my mom that, and I am not afraid to admit it ;) ) called me earlier this morning, I was bored with work. Not just bored, just feeling homesick I guess; as I'm still transitioning myself to living out of the comforts of our home and in my new apartment here in Newark, New Jersey. And working and learning and attending lectures from time to time. You know~ all that good stuff that interns have to do. lol.

So my mommy called me today at around 10ish in the AM. I picked up the phone and her voice, which is so soothing and very mommy-ish, hit me again. "Hallo Doy. Musta naman ka Ondoy BranBran?"

First reaction nako: Man, I really miss and love my mommy. Na mingaw jud ko. Though I tried hard not to be homesick and fought the feelings of missing my parents, when my ears heard my mother's voice, naka mingaw jyud ko. My mother is just that kind of individual. She is just so good; a pure of heart; and a very loving innocent woman. You could say that she is the best mother. I am 24 years old, a grown man, but she always checks up on me. She doesn't have to; but she does so anyways. I know this and I appreciate it.

And I dont say this enough to her. But I know that she visits this site. I will admit it here. I love you, Mommy.
Maka lipay jud ko if maka dungog ko sa imung voice.

Nothing compares jyud to a Mother's Love.

Tear our hearts and not our garments, Glacier?

I say no to rending either.

1. Hearts hurt when torn.
2. Garments should kept safe.

;)

Peace!

All the best regards,

Question and Answer / Re: Wine, Anyone?
February 18, 2010, 12:19:26 PM
For those that love red wine, Spanish red wine is something to be tasted. I'm talking about the Tempranillo variant of spanish red wine.

A particular brand of Tempranillo that I love, and highly recommend is "Crin Roja"

I love wine. Whites are perfect for dinner (chicken, or fish) or when in a conversation with a friend. A particular white is Chenin Blanc. My favorite brand of chenin blanc is "de Morgenzon".

Exquisite wine.

For me, the work place should be just that: The Work Place.

~

Wa lang ko ning express nija my concern kai i did not feel to do so. But on the drive back from work. I thought about it.

Can  you imagine, I, was talking to my preceptor discussing the patient's metabolic acidosis and the MOA (mechanism of action) of the process and how to treat this particular condition.

Then out of no where, we were interrupted, I, thought it was an emergency. Took care of it. But only to be asked not a medical quesiton, but a personal one.

For me, this was unprofessional. My proctor was annoyed at this incident, and I did feel bad. I took full responsibility for the unprofessional situation.

Ah. Just venting lang ko diri.

So I recently enrolled at a powerhouse gym here in Bloomfield, NJ.
Apart from working in the hospital and reviewing, I have become an avid work out fanatic.

I have a regular cardio/weight training routine. For those who work out, what is your work out routine?
How is it going for you? What is your work out goal?

I notice that at work, alot of patients seem to flirt with the older staff. And the nurses, di ko mo generalize sa tanan, but I do notice that alot of nurses flirt with the Medical Doctors or the Medical Student Interns.

I was ding acid bases work today and being quizzed by my proctor/ preceptor when a nursing student/ 1st year nurse came up to me and said something. It was not work related at all.

Rather, it was: "Hi! Do you have a girl friend? You're cute!"

Ako. Ning smile. Pero. Dili baja ni professional in the work place. I mean. I take her comment as a compliment. But there is a time and place for this, and surely, I did not appreciate being disturbed from work to be asked if I had a gf.

Ning remark baja ko balik nija, "Thanks. Sweety. Yes I do have a girl friend."

~~

On her defense tho. She was cute. I will not deny that. ha ha ha.
But still...

Recently I stopped by our local CVS (a general store) to pick up some groceries and work supplies when I heard a young child being reprimanded by his mother. The mother scolded the child using the "F" word, the "B" word and all manner of curse words.
The child was no older than 10 years, and the mother was exposing the child to such degrading remarks.

I was livid.

I do prefer dating older women. Ive dated a woman 10 years older than me, and one in her late 30s. I've also dated women my age and and couple of years younger.

Overall, I like the maturity of older women. I prefer women in their mid to late 20s.
Experience. I love that aspect. :)

With a broad that is a couple of years older than you, you don't have to teach her anything. She teaches you. I love being taught. And I like it how they can keep up with me. I am a rabbit in that aspect. ha ha ha.

My friend Jenny had a really horrible break up with her xbf. This guy was a mental freak. He played with her head and what not; and they would always get into physical alteractions. So she dumped this guy. For another.

The response of her xbf was quite radical.

There were many a time that he came to her dorm when I was there and he attempted to hit her, I of course got in between them. And had he even laid a hand on her, I would have cracked his head open.

He was a pitiful douchebag. The worst kind of man is the type that lays a hand on a woman.

The only time that I really was 'heart broken' was after I broke up with my first gf. Only because I did like her..despite it being puppy love. I was 17 at the time. This was some 7 years ago.

I broke up with her for the fact that i was getting too much involved with her. She was affecting my studies.
SO, i tested myself. Tested my resolve. Breaking up with her was hard..because she cried. And i did feel completely sad after doing this because i did love this girl at that particular point of time. However, one has to be logical.

She was consuming too much time and getting in my studies. Do I keep a gf and have her affect my studies ; and her goals in life were not into par as with mine. Naturally I wanted to be with someone with a similar drive as me. In the back of my own mind, i knew i was destined for someone else. So. I broke up with her.

It took several weeks to numb the feeling of loss. But one can be amazed how one can train the mind. Feelings can be defeated.

Question and Answer / Re: Is breaking up hard to do?
February 16, 2010, 03:55:56 PM
You're welcome, bro.

For me I'm kinda firm when it comes to falling out situations. I like it when my partner is in equal footing with me. If she cannot keep up with me, or expects me to change and alter my personality and change myself to suit her..then dili ko mo angay ana. Good Bye na lang.

My previous xgf was like this. Always picking and choosing and demanding something. She liked to pick on things. Quite really annoying...especially the bitchiness aspect of her personality.

We got into a stupid argument concerning something about her wanting me to change some aspect of my character. I said no. And she then said in the lines of, "well maybe we should just take some time off, what do you think?"

My response was silence. She should have chosen her words carefully. :)
Because I am vicious when it comes to these things.

5 days later she calls me and tells me that she's done 'thinking things over' and wanted to get back again. She said something in the likes of how she apologized for picking on me and that it was wrong. Damage was done tho.

For her to ask for a time off was a sign of weakness. Her love for mer was not as strong as mine was for her. We dated for about 7 months..so i had invested alot in her. But her comment and request for a time off was a sign to me that she was never in equal footing with me. And I think that she really never was. Nor would be. I rejected her request.

Ning hilak. But it was for the best for both of us.

And it was. I met a Filipina after her. ha ha. so it worked out.

I never compromise. I do not think that I should ever have to compromise my own interest for superficial wants.
If you cannot handle me, then move on. Simple. I can easily find a woman quickly. No problem.

February 16, 2010, 03:05:04 PM
Last  year, I had a falling out with my xgf. It was tough because the feelings were deep. She was the one who ended the relationship with me, and I was naturally devastated to hear it. But I am the type that thinks logically. If you break up with me, then it is final. I do not go backwards. Nor do I give second chances.

After a week, she wanted to get back again. I rejected. If she was unsure in the first place to break up with me then i find her love for me lacking. I cannot have that.

One must accept things as they come. And move forward. We are friends, but anything more than that is impossible.

Robert. You have beaten me. lol.

I am 24, and I turn 25 this coming July 23.

You, on the other hand, will remain 22 years old. Forever.

You once said to me, "No, Al, time is the one that gets the best of all of us."

Its a double edge sword, friend. Time took you first. But you will always remain, that glimmering 22 year old optimistic idealist in our minds and in our hearts.

I don't know why but today I thought of you.
You know your parents sent me an email.
I wanted to reply to them, but it hurts to think about what to say.
They are reaching out to me.
I should reach out back.
In time.

One of these days, Rob, I will have to visit your grave.
And I will lay red roses on your tomb.
And usher you a line from Percy Bysshe Shelley's "A Lament"

You think I would forget?
In our many conversations, we sat in the Blue Room by Brooks Hall.
I had a mug of coffee and you had tea.
We exchanged poetic verses.
You introduced me to the romanticism of Shelley as I introduced you to the cynicism of Whitman.
ha ha ha.

Sometimes I forget the specifics of our conversations, Robert.
We would change tangent in the heat of debate and conversation.
I guess I will never really get over your death.
Your death was too soon. Untimely. Unprepared. You caught me off guards.
You left a mental imprint in my mind, Rob.

I will forever be affected by your death.
For one minute, one hour, one day you were there.
Then the next. No more.

There are some times, my dear friend, that I would sit in my chair.
With my glass of Tempranillo. Aged 6 years.
With Sade playing.

And in some odd way expect you to come knocking and somehow start another conversation.
You know. Those many unfinished conversations we had. Put on hold.

I guess. The will be on hold forever.

I miss you my friend. I am still mourning you.

It comes and goes.

"On whose last steps I climb,
Trembling at that where I had stood before;
When will return the glory of your prime?
No more -- oh, never more!

Out of the day and night
A joy has taken flight;
Fresh spring, and summer, and winter hoar,
Move my faint heart with grief, but with delight
No more -- oh, never more!"

I sure as heck do not expect any Arab to treat me with any disgrace like this!

I have a colleague named Abdullah who is Jordanian. He is very arrogant and rude to the nursing staff, and I once rebuffed him with his mannerism towards the Filipina nurses.

I once had to reprimand him and 'give him a piece of my mind' in my observation of his rudeness and uncouth like behavior.

Health and Food / Re: Does lack of sleep can kill you ?
February 16, 2010, 11:24:25 AM
Psychosis is not caused by lack of sleep. Psychosis or any neurological disorders is due to a pathology in dopamine levels. Excessive dopamine leads to psychosis and a deficiency of dopamine leads to parkinsonian-like symptoms.

But you are right on the latter tho. Lack of sleep can reduce the immune system's health and can put strain on the CVS.

One time I was in downtown Newark. I saw an old man in the intersection of I-280West. An old black man who was in his early 70s at least. It was cold that day, and it was a snowing week. With my eyes I saw that old man walk up to a man in a business suit as he was getting inside his Mercedes E-Class. This man was a wealthy man, probably an executive at one of the financial firms or an attorney in the many law firms in Gateway Center District of Newark City.
Still the man brushed the old man away.

The the old man came up to my direction, note that I was in my car about to drive away. I stopped for him, though. I rolled down my window and gave him the coins that I had, it was the only money I had in the car at the time (and i am not rich or wealthy, but a struggling medical intern). I apologize to him for not having enough to give and for only having coins to offer.

He said to me, "Anything helps, son, you didnt have to give but you gave anyway. God Bless You, son."

I was touched. My heart was touched. I replied him back, "And May Our God Bless You, Sir. Take Care. Stay Warm."

He smiled and went on. He was in the center of a highway intersection  opening. I do hope he made it to a shelter.

Somehow I have a feeling that he was not an ordinary individual.

I do know and believe that Angels do disguise themselves in human appearances. I saw Christ in that that poor old man.

God Bless the poor and suffering.

To cement this, the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said in his ministry regarding science and religion:

"Science investigates; religion interprets. Science gives man knowledge which is power; religion gives man wisdom which is control. Science deals mainly with facts; religion deals mainly with values.

The two are not rivals. They are complementary.

Science keeps religion from sinking into the valley of crippling irrationalism and paralyzing obscurantism. Religion prevents science from falling into the marsh of obsolete materialism and moral nihilism."

Magbalantay, it is hilarious how you coined that a man is 'imperfectly imperfect' hehehehe!

How wonderful is it that an imperfect man can fall in love with an imperfectly perfect woman.
Or, in that matter, how an imperfectly perfect woman can fall in love with an imperfect man.
For her to look past his weaknesses and his faults, but search deep, and see the beauty within.
As he does for her.

A living testament to the proverbial phrase, "Do not judge a book by its cover."

What Is LOVE?

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; [2] 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

And Jesus said, "Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

Carefully consider the wording in these next three verses:

"Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but the fornicators and adulterers God will judge." (Hebrews 13:4)

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6:9)

"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." "The mouth of an immoral woman is a deep pit; he who is abhorred of the Lord will fall there." (Proverbs 22:14)

"My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe My ways. For a harlot is a deep pit, and a seductress is a narrow well. She also lies in wait as for a victim, and increases the unfaithful among men." (Proverbs 23:26)

"Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, do not stray into her paths; for she has cast down many wounded, and all who were slain by her were strong men. Her house is the way to hell, descending to the chambers of death." (Proverbs 7:25)

"For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light; reproofs of instruction are the way of life, to keep you from the evil woman, from flattering tongue of a seductress, do not lust after her beauty in your heart, nor let her allure you with her eyelids.
For by means of a harlot a man is reduced to a crust of bread; and an adulteress will prey upon his precious life. Can a man take fire to his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be seared? So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife; whoever touches her shall not be innocent ... Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he who does so destroys his own soul." (Proverbs 6:23, 32)

Science is not full proof. It created by concepts and man made postulates and theoretical laws to explain the universe as it is. But one has to acquiesce to the fact  that prior to human mental capacity to begin unraveling the universal laws, is that the universe existed eons before our own.

The universe is ordered in such a way that transcends our own. The universe is ordered in circles. In law.

Let me divulge to you and to others; just as the atom that composes every single aspect of ions and cells and organelles in our bodies, the atom revolves around each other. The electron revolves around a proton and neutron. The same as the moon revolves around a planetary body. The same as the planetary bodies revolve around a galaxial star (a sun). The same way as a milky way revolves around a galaxy. Just as humans and life is created and destroyed in our own world, so too are stars and galaxies created and destroyed.

It is the beauty of the cosmos that is beyond our own grasp. But in our own imagation and in our own mind.

We, humans, are given the sight and vision to see this truth. Because we are created and made in the image of our God. We, who were created by the creator, have the ability to create as well.

Our inventions of the computer, the calculator, the gene transplant, the unraveling of the human genome, the ability to clone animals and to understand the language of atoms and music, and the way of nature. This is not by mere chance that we were created with such innate brilliance. Rather, my friend, we have the essence of divine knowledge. For we were created in the very image of God. Genesis dictates this.

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."
Genesis 1:27

Poems and Poets / Do You Remember?
February 15, 2010, 09:47:06 AM
by: A. Lorenzo

To: Stacey

Do you remember the first time we first met?
I, in my confident gait and my handshake
I, in my question to you, "Do you happen to be Filipina?"
Ha Ha Ha

And do you remember how I reacted to feel your firm grip?
Complimentary to my own.
Do you remember?
How I conversed and how our conversations were genuine in the first day?

And the many days that passed, the many nights,
How our feelings for each other grew.
Friends and then to more.
Friendship and then to more.
Do you remember?

How I would read you poems on the docks,
do you remember?
How I would sing to you, yes, even with my deep voice?
Ha ha ha, and you would react with smile and a laugh.
Oh i did not care if i made a fool of myself.
For better to be a fool in love,
than a wise man who never loved.

Do you remember the first time we kissed?
Oh yes I do.
Tis fresh in my mind, the first of so many.

I love you.
It is simple yet it is pure.
This I love i have for  you.

Have you ever seen a man cry in joy?
Do you remember?
I do. For it was I.
And I am not afraid to admit it to you and to all that read this poem.

There is a saying I uphold. When you love a person. You accept the fact that they are imperfect. As we all are flawed.

But you see..the beauty of it all is that..a woman is just...

IMPERFECTLY PERFECT.

Faith is above anything. We do not see the atom being punctured in an atomic spectrometer, but we know it is happening because we use machines and believe it is true by natural law that, which is the compass of all that is man made machinery.

When a physician / surgeon says that the T4 or T3 hormones are in equilibrium and says that TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is essential for the production of T4, T3 and reverseT3 hormones, he does not see these thyroidotic hormones, but he trusts and believes in the accuracy of the machines that dictate it to him when he reads the charts. We believe it is true because it follows medical law; and medical law is an essential partner and complimentary machine to NATURAL LAW.

Natural Law is created by GOD. Author and Foundation of the Earth and the Heavens.

Science does not disqualify God and his ETERNAL MAGNIFICENCE.

On the CONTRARY, Science and Medical Advances is living proof and testament of the DIVINE INTELLIGENCE of the LORD YOUR GOD.

We have only begun to see and discover HIS providential wisdom. Before we even discovered science to explain the ways of the universe, it all existed for eons. Since the beginning of time.

As it was made so, delivered so, and created so by the HIGHEST OF ALL HIGHEST.
THE LORD GOD WHO SITS ON THE THRONE OF HEAVEN.
TO HIM
BE ETERNAL GLORY,
ETERNAL MAJESTY,
ETERNAL MIGHT,
ETERNAL HOLINESS,
ETERNAL PRAISES.
Amen!

From age to eternal age.

With my Lips I Glorify the Lord God!
JESUS IS LORD!

Firm believer jud ko in unconditional love. To Love is to be unconditional.

I love totally and completely. I do not look at the flaws and the strengths individually. Because these makes an individual who that individual IS. These are essential to their personal individuality.

To love is to accept something, accept the differences, accept and abide in the strengths and similarities and the emotional intensity of understanding, companionship and longingness that both see in each other. And work through it.

To Love unconditionally is to give yourself to an individual; as that individual gives herself to you.
Trust and Honesty abounds in this state of unconditional Love. Loyalty, Passion and Faith cements it.

A hopeless romantic,
LORENZ.

To my darling sweetheart,
The heart of my heart,
Sweetest flower,
The apple of my eyes.
My most beloved, most cherished, sought after woman.,

Is there ever a day in this vale of tears that your most inspired lover lacks in astute longing for a chance to hold thee again?
Where is the light of the day? For I feel that three days of your absence and three days without a kiss or the touch of your sweetest embrace is semblant of an eternity. How can you tease your boyfriend and lover of missing me and wanting to hold me again when you know that I do utterly miss and hunger for thee on a daily basis? The only treatment to this longing is to be given the chance to hear your voice in our daily conversations or by our letters that we correspond to each other. Perchance, my sweetest darling, may you write to me more? I write to you daily, my letters exudes my primality, my sentimentality that you are given the chance to read and to inexplicably digest in the deepest corners of your beautiful mind and spirit. Oh spirit, spirit of love! How arduous is this feeling of deep longing and the intensity of it, which has pierced your lover's heart on daily basis. Oh sing to me again, my sweetest songbird, the very voice and sound of your whimper and the sight of your beautiful light brown eyes--as tender to the immaculate soul as the reverberant blush of northern winter air on February morn. Come, my dearest love, come to me as I am in longing for thee.

How much your lover calls to thy soul.

Yearn for me, hunger for me, and long for me, my dearest most utterly beautiful woman whom my heart calls to.
Hunger and thirst for thy lover as i do for thee. And the day that we see each other again, by Divine Providence's Will, shall be united in exquisite joy that is beyond description and avail.

One of these days, my Love, I shall come like thunder and burst thy doors open.
And I shall come with a thousand kisses and a thousand embraces,
as powerful as the wrath of Poseidon's waves, but as soft and delicate to the touch as Cupid's kisses.

Your Most Loving One,
With A Love Most Pure,
A.Lorenzo.
XOXO

Ug mo kaon ko maka damgo ko ning kiss ko nimo
Ug mo basa ko maka kita ko sa imung lips
Ma gutom napood.

Ug mo ligo ko, maka hinumdum ko
Hamis kaajo imung panit
Lami kaajo i-kisson

lami kaajo i-caresson

Ako be, maka damgo ba ka nako?
Maka kita ba ka nako sa imung damgo?
Mo damgo ba ka nako?

Ikaw ra jud ang baji sa ahong utok 'ron.
Wala jamo maka comparar nimo

Dili jud sila maka comparar nimo
Ikaw man ang buwak sa ahong mata
Ikaw man ang tubig sa ahong kasingkasing

Kining sentimentalidad nako, dili man jud ni everyday experience
