Chris Costner Sizemore (born April 4, 1927 in Edgefield, South Carolina) is a woman who, in the 1950s, was diagnosed with Multiple Personality Disorder, now known as dissociative identity disorder (DID). Her case, with a pseudonym used, was depicted in the 1950s book and film The Three Faces of Eve by her psychiatrists, Corbett H. Thigpen and Hervey M. Cleckley. She went public with her true identity in the 1970s. She lived for many years in South Carolina.

In accordance with then-current modes of thought on the disorder, Thigpen reported that Sizemore had developed multiple personalities as a result of her witnessing a horrifying accidental death and two serious non-fatal accidents within three months as a small child. By Sizemore's own report, these incidents triggered the evidencing of selves which were already present. "Despite authorities' claims to the contrary, my former alters were not fragments of my birth personality. They were entities, whole in their own rights, who coexisted with my birth personality before I was born. They were not me, but they remain intrinsically related to what it means to be me."

While The Three Faces of Eve was written by Thigpen and Cleckley with limited input from Sizemore, her later books I'm Eve and A Mind Of My Own fill in details. Much earlier, in 1958, she had written Strangers in My Body: The Final Face of Eve, using the pseudonym Evelyn Lancaster. According to psychiatrists who worked with her after she moved from South Carolina, Sizemore did not experience three selves, but approximately 20. The doctors reported that her selves presented in groups of three at a time.

Sizemore reports feeling exploited and objectified by the media blitz surrounding the book and film. Upon discovering in 1988 that her legal rights to her own life story had been signed away to 20th Century Fox by Thigpen, Sizemore went to Manhattan's Federal District Court to contest the contract, and won.[4][5][6][7][8]
Sizemore was the inspiration for the song Christine and its B-Side "Eve White/Eve Black" by the English rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees.

The 1952-1989 papers of Chris Costner Sizemore have been acquired by Duke University Library. An overview of the collection and a summary of Ms. Sizemore's story are included on its website. Sizemore was interviewed on the BBC News channel series Hard Talk on March 25, 2009. --Wiki

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Fresh from a decisive re-election win, President Barack Obama returns from the campaign trail on Wednesday with little time to savor victory, facing urgent economic and fiscal challenges and a still-divided Congress capable of blocking his every move.

Obama defeated Republican challenger Mitt Romney on Tuesday night after a grueling presidential race and used his acceptance speech in front of a huge cheering crowd in Chicago to strike a conciliatory note toward his political opponents.

Death by Protocol

In many cultures certain people are held to be taboo; that is, they are not to be touched. In 19th century Siam, it was absolutely forbidden for a commoner to touch the queen. To break this rule carried the death penalty. One day Queen Sunandha Kumariratana was in a boat which capsized, plunging her into a river. Though there were many people who might have come to her aid it would have meant their own death to touch the royal body. She died at the age of 19 along with her daughter. -- http://listverse.com/

Archaeology by Diarrhea

The Lewis and Clark expedition was sent out by President Jefferson to cross the continent of America. They were to make scientific discoveries and contact the native Americans. Because they were to be gone for so long it was necessary to train them in medicine so that they could treat illness and injury. Benjamin Rush, famous doctor and founding father, was a key advisor. He was a keen advocate of purgatives and laxatives. To clear out the bowels of the expedition he provided them with his own invention, Bilious Pills. These contained a large amount of mercury. They were so effective as laxative that the expedition termed them Thunder Clappers. The problem with mercury is that it remains in the environment for a very long time. When the expedition used the pills they left such large amounts of mercury in the ground that later archaeologists have been able to identify the path of the expedition by the levels of the metal still remaining from the Thunder Clapper purges. -- http://listverse.com/

Now, Obama heads back to office facing what will most likely be bitterly partisan negotiations over whether the Bush tax cuts should expire. The House will still be majority Republican, with Democrats maintaining their majority in the Senate.

The loss may provoke some soul searching in the Republican Party. This election was seen as a prime opportunity to unseat Obama, as polls showed Americans were unhappy with a sluggish economy, sky-high unemployment, and a health care reform bill that remained widely unpopular. Romney took hardline positions on immigration, federal spending, and taxes during the long Republican primary when he faced multiple challenges from the right. He later shifted to the center in tone on many of those issues, but it's possible the primary painted him into a too-conservative corner to appeal to moderates during the general election. The candidate also at times seemed unable to effectively counter Democratic attacks on his business experience and personal wealth.
#33157
But the president's Midwestern firewall--and the campaign's impressive grassroots operation--carried him through. Ohio tends to vote a bit more Republican than the nation as a whole, but Obama was able to stave off that trend and hold an edge there over Romney, perhaps due to the president's support of the auto bailout three years ago. Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan all but moved to Ohio in the last weeks of the campaign, trying and ultimately failing to erase Obama's lead there.

A shrinking electoral battleground this year meant that only 14 states were really seen as in play, and both candidates spent most of their time and money there. Though national polls showed the two candidates in a dead heat, Obama consistently held a lead in the states that mattered. That, and his campaign's much-touted get out the vote efforts and overall ground game, may be what pushed Obama over the finish line.
#33158
The Romney campaign cast the election as a referendum on Obama's economic policies, frequently comparing him to former President Jimmy Carter and asking voters the Reagan-esque question of whether they are better off than they were four years ago. But the Obama campaign pushed back on the referendum framing, blanketing key states such as Ohio early on with ads painting him as a multimillionaire more concerned with profits than people. The Obama campaign also aggressively attacked Romney on reproductive rights issues, tying Romney to a handful of Republican candidates who made controversial comments about rape and abortion.

These ads were one reason Romney faced a steep likeability problem for most of the race, until his expert performance at the first presidential debate in Denver in October. After that debate, and a near universal panning of Obama's performance, Romney caught up with Obama in national polls, and almost closed his favoribility gap with the president. In polls, voters consistently gave him an edge over Obama on who would handle the economy better and create more jobs, even as they rated Obama higher on caring about the middle class

By Liz Goodwin, Yahoo! News | The Ticket â€" 1 hr 11 mins ago

President Barack Obama handily defeated Gov. Mitt Romney and won himself a second term Tuesday after a bitter and historically expensive race that was primarily fought in just a handful of battleground states. Networks project that Obama beat Romney after nabbing the crucial state of Ohio.

The Romney campaign's last-ditch attempt to put blue-leaning Midwestern swing states in play failed as Obama's Midwestern firewall sent the president back to the White House for four more years. Obama picked up the swing states of New Hampshire, Michigan, New Mexico, Iowa, Wisconsin, Colorado, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Ohio. Florida and Virginia are still too close to call, but even if he won them, they would not give Romney enough Electoral College votes to put him over the top. The popular vote will most likely be much narrower than the president's Electoral College victory.

The Obama victory marks an end to a years-long campaign that saw historic advertisement spending levels, countless rallies and speeches, and three much-watched debates.

Identifying himself only as a businessman who travels a lot, the Secret Santa wanted to maintain his anonymity. Stamped with the words, “Secret Santa” in red the mostly$100 bills were handed out at the bus terminal in downtown Reading Tuesday night.

Many recipients were overcome with emotion. The kindness of a stranger, the generous handout during tough economic times inspired these people.

With hugs and blessings, this Secret Santa gave $100 bills to strangers at the terminal then preceded to the local Salvation Army. There he handed out more cash to volunteers, children, and housekeeping.

Wherever he went he gave away the cash. As he left the building, he saw a woman standing in the rain waiting to pick up her children.

“How many children do you have?” Santa said.

The woman replied, “Six.”

Well there you go. The Secret Santa said to her, “You have six children? Well, here you go,” as he counted off the one hundred dollar bills, giving her a total of $600. “A hundred for each child,” he told the woman.

When a person thinks of having a bad day, or how they are going to feed their family, many times they are distraught. In Reading, Pa one stranger made all the difference.

The real message of Secret Santa, he said, is that others should follow his example and do random acts of kindness during the Christmas season. He said he is continuing in the legacy of Larry Stewart who before his death in 2006, gave away nearly $1.3 million posing as a Secret Santa.

“I promised Stewart on his deathbed that I would continue the tradition of Secret Santa,” he said.

Here is one way to pay it forward. In the coming weeks, Secret Santa plans to travel to other cities from San Diego to Detroit and do the same.

Every season there is one of those feel good stories that come out. This year’s story is about the Secret Santa who handed out $20,000 to unsuspecting people. The donator who wishes to remain anonymous arrived at a bus terminal in Reading, Pa and started handing out $100 bills.

According to reports, he handed out an estimated $20,000 to residents of this Pennsylvania town.

One lucky resident told the local paper, “I was brought up to believe that you take care of your family, but I can’t find a job,” Thomas J. Coates said. “This man said to me, ‘You’re a good man’ and it felt good to hear that.”

This generous man read somewhere that the city of Reading, Pa was designated as America’s poorest city with a population of 65,000 or more. He wanted to make a difference. This Secret Santa wanted to encourage and bless others.

“Cities like Reading are experiencing tough economic times,” the Secret Santa told the Reading Eagle. “It’s time for us to step up, not step back.”

Hmm, sa halawom kong pagpamalandong niining maong hilisgotan miturok ang akong pagtuo nga gituyo mo pagpingis ang imong paghubit sa talan-awon. Sa pagkatinuod, dili tukma ang "For a Few Dollars More" ug ang "Unforgiven". Sayod ko nga sayod ka nga ang lilas nga naglarawan niining tanan mao ang "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly"...
