Where is the Holy Priesthood specifically referred to by St. Peter in the Holy Bible?

Answer:

1 Peter 2: 4-5,

As you come to Him, the living Stoneâ€"rejected by men but chosen by God and
precious to Himâ€" you also, like living stones, are being built into a
spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices
acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Every small act of kindness counts as well as the big ones. And most of all, be a gentleman to her always.

Be good to her. Be loving always to her, loyal to her, pamper her. And most of all, be honest with her.
Let her talk to you, let her express herself to you without stopping her..so you allow her to be open to you.
No barriers should be present.

Shower the woman with love and goodness. Express your feelings to her on regular basis; and do not be afraid to be 'mushy mushy' with her. he he he.

The proprietor and the giver of all mercy.
The Giver of Life and Taker.

Dear Lord God, who reigns in the heavens,
to you alone all knowledge and all majesty resounds.
Dear Father have mercy on the souls of those that were taken today,
that they may find mercy in your presence.

Dearest Father God, console the families that are in pain and those that will suffer.
Give all aid, monetary, medical and supplies to those who need it.
May your love reign in the hearts of those who are willing to help in the effort.

Dearest Father, we do not question why these things happen, but know and trust in your purpose.
That all things happen and all of these were written in the book of life.
That you alone are author.

Dearest Father, hear our prayer.

We ask this through the Name of Jesus Christ Our Lord.
And your only begotten son.
In confidence that whatever we may ask we shall receive.

In the Name of the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit.
One God. One Lord. Forever and Ever.

Blessed are you, O Lord our God, the all-holy one, who gives us life and all things. As we go about our lives, the press of our duties and activities often leads us to forget your presence and your love. We fall into sin and fail to live out the responsibilities that you have entrusted to those who were baptized into your Son.

In this holy season, help us to turn our minds and hearts back to you. Lead us into sincere repentance and renew our lives with your grace. Help us to remember that we are sinners, but even more, help us to remember your loving mercy.

As we live through this Ash Wednesday, may the crosses of ashes that mark our foreheads be a reminder to us and to those we meet that we belong to your Son. May our worship and prayer and penitence this day be sustained throughout these 40 days of Lent. Bring us refreshed and renewed to the celebration of Christ’s resurrection at Easter.

We ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.

It seems, then, that our use of ashes at the beginning of Lent is an extension of the use of ashes with those entering the Order of Penitents. This discipline was the way the Sacrament of Penance was celebrated through most of the first millennium of Church history. Those who had committed serious sins confessed their sins to the bishop or his representative and were assigned a penance that was to be carried out over a period of time. After completing their penance, they were reconciled by the bishop with a prayer of absolution offered in the midst of the community.

During the time they worked out their penances, the penitents often had special places in church and wore special garments to indicate their status. Like the catechumens who were preparing for Baptism, they were often dismissed from the Sunday assembly after the Liturgy of the Word.

This whole process was modeled on the conversion journey of the catechumens, because the Church saw falling into serious sin after Baptism as an indication that a person had not really been converted. Penance was a second attempt to foster that conversion. Early Church fathers even called Penance a "second Baptism."

Lent developed in the Church as the whole community prayed and fasted for the catechumens who were preparing for Baptism. At the same time, those members of the community who were already baptized prepared to renew their baptismal promises at Easter, thus joining the catechumens in seeking to deepen their own conversion. It was natural, then, that the Order of Penitents also focused on Lent, with reconciliation often being celebrated on Holy Thursday so that the newly reconciled could share in the liturgies of the Triduum. With Lent clearly a season focused on Baptism, Penance found a home there as well.

The History:

The origin of the custom of using ashes in religious ritual is lost in the mists of pre-history, but we find references to the practice in our own religious tradition in the Old Testament. The prophet Jeremiah, for example, calls for repentance this way: "O daughter of my people, gird on sackcloth, roll in the ashes" (Jer 6:26).

The prophet Isaiah, on the other hand, critiques the use of sackcloth and ashes as inadequate to please God, but in the process he indicates that this practice was well-known in Israel: "Is this the manner of fasting I wish, of keeping a day of penance: that a man bow his head like a reed, and lie in sackcloth and ashes? Do you call this a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord?" (Is 58:5).

The prophet Daniel pleaded for God to rescue Israel with sackcloth and ashes as a sign of Israel's repentance: "I turned to the Lord God, pleading in earnest prayer, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes" (Dn 9:3).

Perhaps the best known example of repentance in the Old Testament also involves sackcloth and ashes. When the prophet Jonah finally obeyed God's command and preached in the great city of Nineveh, his preaching was amazingly effective. Word of his message was carried to the king of Nineveh. "When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in the ashes" (Jon 3:6).

In the book of Judith, we find acts of repentance that specify that the ashes were put on people's heads: "And all the Israelite men, women and children who lived in Jerusalem prostrated themselves in front of the temple building, with ashes strewn on their heads, displaying their sackcloth covering before the Lord" (Jdt 4:11; see also 4:15 and 9:1).

Just prior to the New Testament period, the rebels fighting for Jewish independence, the Maccabees, prepared for battle using ashes: "That day they fasted and wore sackcloth; they sprinkled ashes on their heads and tore their clothes" (1 Mc 3:47; see also 4:39).

In the New Testament, Jesus refers to the use of sackcloth and ashes as signs of repentance: "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes" (Mt 11:21, Lk 10:13).

I have heard some older generation of Filipinos believing in the notion of Quack doctors who supposedly have magical powers by chewing leaves and spitting on the said patient.

The only transmission is bacterial infection from the quack to the patient. Via Fecal-Oral transmission.

Ridiculous. Preposterous.

I work with alot of individuals who are also in medical research and in infectious diseases specialties. And several of my colleagues are M.D-Ph.D dual program students (medical research). We have discussed the proclivity of the population to despair regarding aids, however, to the uninformed and misinformed lay public, what seems to be a debilitating disease is actually a checked condition. We have developed newer inhibitors that have little to resistance, and thereby preventing further transmission of HIV via chromosomal duplication. Literally stopping it. So long as the patient is attentive and adheres to the medical regimen as given to him by his physician/specialist.

You would be amazed, States, how we have gained grounds in the medical research aspect.

I have a friend who is an Infectious Diseases Resident (M.D-Ph.D graduate of Johns Hopkins) who is working in the CDC (Center Disease Control) and what is going in there is the study in how to target at risk populations and placing some highly at risk individuals with the HAART prophlaxis as well as developing newer measures to implement the said  HIV prophylaxis.

For those that do not  know this. If a patient has sexual intercourse with a suspected HIV carrier; or if a medical provider was infected with an HIV patient's blood, one can treat this disease.

One has a window of about 1 month to take HAART prophylaxis to destroy the virus before it can take over the host's chromosomal network. Taking 2 nucleoside inhibitors/non-nucleoside inhibitors and protease inhibitors for 2 weeks time will kill this virus. Any more over that window will allow the retrovirus to invade the chromosome. This is why it is indeed possible to treat the HIV retrovirus assessed in time. After that said window, we can only give palliative treatment and inhibitors to prevent CD4+ t-cells from falling below the 200 field.

Cheers.

Anti-retroviral treatments (ARVs) and universal testing could stop the spread of Aids in South Africa within five years, a top scientist says.

Dr Brian Williams says the cost of giving the drugs to almost six million HIV-positive patients in the country would be $2-3bn per year.

Only about 30% get the life-saving drugs, he said, but early detection and treatment would prevent transmission.

This, he said, should be complementary to the search for an Aids vaccine.

An effective vaccine, he said, was still a long way away.

Dr Williams, a leading figure in the field of HIV research, is based at the South African Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (Sacema) in Stellenbosch. -BBC

Of course AIDS vaccine is a long way. HIV is a highly mutative, highly adaptive retrovirus. If we develop a so called 'vaccine', a newer form of the virus will manifest in the next year.

This article is poorly written and its targetting the 'lay' population with overly-generalized information is too generalized.

AIDS vaccines are proven inefficient.

Any vaccine is an attenuated form. Anyone getting AIDS is willing themselves to be infected with the attenuated form of the retrovirus. One that is highly mutative.

Mega doses of prophylaxis  antibiotic for life and oftentimes the kidney will give up
and sometimes develop resistance to certain antibiotic and when their
immunity is compromised  the opportunistic infection could set in.

One thing about these kind of patients kay diri sa U.S. dili pabutangan ug
contact isolation sign outside their door para warning sa mosulod sa
room nga unta mananakod man ni ilang sakit.

Dili sad makita sa ilang chart, so kaming mga staff magbantay lang pirme
and of course cover up morag astronaut hahaha, gowns, gloves,
  foot covers and mask.

It reminds of one cardiologist gikan sa Taiwan to siya ug iya gisuwat sa chart
nga may AIDS ang patient kay tungod sa iya lifestyle nga lalaki unta pero benabaye,
nagubot   lagi ang mga staff kay ni violate siya sa confidentiality, gipatawag sa admin
    siya ug gi lecture, ops!

This is true. However, considering that patients with full blown AIDS (with CD4+ count of <200) are susceptible to a host of opportunistic infections (from giardia lamblia, cryptococcus, alpha/beta hemolytic strep (and group a/b), to susceptibility to MRSA (methicillin resistant staph aureus) and in cases VRSA (vancomycin resistant staph aureus), their choices are low. Some are also ridden with clostridium, as well as infected with molluscum and other hosts of bacterial infections that the average individual (with a CD4+ count of over 1000) would not even succumb to.

In these cases, the physician maintains the patient in precluding antibiotic therapy. What is meant by this is that we initiate them in a combination of 2+1 (HAART) ; meaning we place the platient in 1 nucleoside inhibitors/non-nucleoside inhibitors, then given them fusion inhibitiors (there is no known resistance to this yet) and protease inhibitors. This drug cocktail prevents the further diminishment of the HIV patient's CD4+ count and preventing the disease from becoming full-blown AIDS.

But, however, for those whose CD4+ counts have reached below the 200 level and are suffering from observable lymphadenopathy and bacterial infections; we give the patient first with low-dose abx. Start them off with wide sprectrum + probenicids. And then continue with higher yield abx.

As for the notion of drug resistance; that is true. Any pathogen will be come resistant to man's drugs. However, that is why the medical pharmacology field is a booming field. So long as there is money and capital to be made in treating patients, they will continue to research, research and create more new generation antibiotics.

For MRSA, we give vancomycin, and for VRSA we give them nafcillin, and high dose aminoglycosides, and higher generations cephas.

In cases with HIV/AIDS patients, we have to put priority in the condition. We treat the bacterial infection first, then we deal with the renal considerations.

As you are right, these kinds of patients are placed in highly sterilized conditions. By order of the physician.

We do what we can with what we can.
So far, AIDS can be treated.
We cannot fully cure it. However, with the current medical pharmacology available, AIDS patients can live for years indefinately. We see a life retention of 30-40 years with our current medical regimen. This does not include future drugs that are under research.

Cheers,
Lorenzo

It´s hard to tell since the Germans have another lifestyle and sense of humor.
The best places to go are Berlin, Cologne and Hamburg.

I'll take that into consideration. I've been planning in visiting Germany for quite some time now; its part of my plan to visit Western Europe in the not too distant future. I have been to Amsterdam (Nederlandse), Kiev (Ukraine), Odessa (Ukraine), and Moscow (Russia). The night life as well as the social life over there is indeed, intriguing. Europeans, in general, or if I may generalize about Eastern Europeans, have a very 'touchy' aura. There is very little sense of personal space, and when they speak it is to your face; as in face-to-face. ha ha ha.

I studied 6 months in Ukraine in an exchange program; those 6 months were marvelous. I toured neighboring Poland, Romania and Moldova. All of these countries were part of the greater economic sphere with Ukraine and the Russian Hegemon.

What I do miss the most is walking by the kiasks of downtown Kiev, and sitting in an unknown cafe. Bringing my book and just sitting there drinking my expressos and reading my book(s) for hours. And just see the Ukrainians walk by. Absorbing everything in. And learning how to read/understand/write in cyrillic. Truly, foreign, in all of its aspects.

Loved it.

A patient with aids does not die of HIV; but rather, dies of immunocompression. A decreased CD4 count leads the patient to be utterly susceitpble to bacterial infection due to the destruction of their t-cells (adaptive immunity).

However, by giving the patient a combination of protease inhibitors ( general name for anti-retrovirals), we can prevent the further destuction of CD4 count.

And to control the patient's health, we place them in antibiotic prophylaxis for life; and provide them with high dosage of ceph, metronidazole, probenicids, tetracyclines etc.

We can maintain his/her life. Indefinitely.

HIV AIDS is going to be impossible to completely cure as it is a retrovirus. This virus has the ability to utilize RT (Reverse transcriptase) meaning its effects are permanent. It pierces into the host's chromosome and proliferates continuously and attains viral immortality by completey and utterly taking hold of the host's lymphatics and evading the innate Complementary defense system (MAC).

This viral disease attacks and destroys the host's adapative immunity by eradicating the T-cells.

Despite this, we can prevent the death of the patient even if their CD4 count is below 100 or is at 50. We give them retrovirals, ribavirin, protease inhibitors as well as a cocktail of antibiotics. Thereby prolonging the life of the patient indefininately.

Dearest Father,
with adoration and respect I look up to you,
as a symbol of strength and as a figure of idol.
How your son idolizes you, and finds strength and encouragement in you.
I find strength in your strength,
Rigidity and confidence in your confidence,
Direction in your words and in your view.

There are many a son that do not listen to their fathers,
many sons who digress from the words of wisdom from their father.
But, I do not count myself in their lot.

For I bless you, my father.
For your strength is a blessing upon mine.
I count the words of Sirach Chapter 3.
For a father's blessing is a blessing upon his son.
And his righteousness a light unto his progeny.

My beloved Father.
Engineer. Medical Provider.
With the strength of your arms, you directed and built highways, ordered the repair of bridges,
commanded the building of super highways, or ordered the demolishing of unstable buildings.
With your hand, you direct hundreds of construction workers. With a single word, you control the progress of highways.
Not just in the work place. But also in the household and in in the family.

Your children take ear to your words.
For it is wisdom.
Rarely do you speak in admonishment, for highly we take your words into account.
And adore you so much.

Father, you an example of a good and faithful earthly father.
Who abounds in joy and love in his children.
Faithful and loving. Considerate and understanding.
For your love of us emanates from the Eternal Father who is in Heaven.

The Father of All Fathers.

or how special she is, or my love for her.
To put these things into words would be to define them,
To quantify them, which means to limit them.
There would be a beginning and an end.
There is no definition fitting, nor any limit,
nor beginning or end to her beauty,
or to how special she is, or my love for her.

Yes, all of us guys were such in a rush to go to NYC that all of us forgot to bring our actual cameras. Save for the build in cameras in our phones. lol.

As for prices in NYC, yes, its a bit heavy, but there are good places and bars that are reasonable in price. We mainly stayed in East Greenwich Village, which is a yuppie district (new generation; young technocrats). So the vibe and feel was filled with individuals in the same age group and what not.

It was really relaxing. To relax and to just enjoy the city life (even if is just for the day).

Perhaps someday I should visit Germany. I hear the city life over there in Deutschland is amazing.

This weekend, a group of my medical intern batch decided to take a break from work.
We drove to downtown Manhattan New York City, and enjoyed the evening at Greenwich Village.
We went to a wine bar, which also had an exquisite belly dancer entertain us. Hooka was served. Light delicacies.

The wine was superb. Exquisitely New York in taste and feel.

The Lord sent Moses to liberate the Hebrews from  bondage
   in Egypt.
The Hebrews along with mixed multitudes witnessed the great miracle
when the Red Sea opened up so they walked on dry lands.
They were headed to the promised land but then they
   disobeyed God and murmured.

Turned their back away from the Lord and  created a molten
  image as their God.
They wandered for 40 years in the wilderness, but never
repented, they all perished  except for 2 men who made it
  to the promised land.

Take note: 40 years..the Lord gave them plenty of time
to repent, but they hardened their hearts.
They committed the greatest sin: the sin of UNBELIEF

Very true, Ma'am.

And not only that, but they questioned Moses, and demanded that they be returned to Egypt. As they said, better to live as slaves than to die in the wilderness.

Woe to those who do not believe. For surely theirs is the pit. Eternal Damnation.

I  ask but one thing of you, only one,
That always you will be my dream of you;
That never shall I wake to find untrue
All this I have believed and rested on,
Forever vanished, like a vision gone
Out into the night. Alas, how few
There are who strike in us a chord we knew
Existed, but so seldom heard its tone
We tremble at the half-forgotten sound.
The world is full of rude awakenings
And heaven-born castles shattered to the ground,
Yet still our human longing vainly clings
To a belief in beauty through all wrongs.
O stay your hand, and leave my heart its songs!

All That is Gold Does Not Glitter
By J.R.R. Tolkien

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

poem by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien

Beautiful. Again, Tolkien shines his Christian Faith in his works.

To add lang;

Thousands of Physicians have been sued by medical malpractice for "flirting" back with staff and patients.

Again. A result of unprofessional / indecent conduct.

#33061
Mo share ko lang to the world (those who wish to hear and those who do not want to hear, don't read it):

One gets a proud and satisfying feeling in treating a patient, in identifying if the patient has an underlying disease, that can be treated. Or if we identify that the patient is acidotic, or alkalotic. When one is introduced to a patient who is pedriatic and in the ER and are given the honor to stittch the wound on that ptaient, caomfort them and given them a reason to smile and to look forward to. There is a miraculous feeling in this.

You go to the hospital floor. Everything that you read about in the text books..in neurophysiology, in cardiopathology, in general pathology, in embryology, in pharmacology etc. As a student one memorizes facts, and clinical signs, but it is different. When you are exposed to the setting, see the patient, feel the patient, everything changes.

You see there is such sacred relationship between the Doctor/Intern and the Patient. The patient goes to the doctor and offers his / her life and places it in your hand. This relationship and this precious bond is unique. Totally unique. Therefore, the gravity of this relationship requires and decrees proper and astute respect of that Doctor-Patient Interaction.

As a physician in training, medical interns are required to exude a level of confidence to their patient and the surrounding staff. You are required to talk and to explain in a calm and assertive manner. You are a student who has sacrificed and seen your years away, to the beauty of this profession. And such, due to the gravity of this profession and what it entails and what it REQUIRES and individual to do, one has to abide by the sacred and sanctified position of the medical provider.

Acting and talking in proper etiquette is mandated. Firm and Resolute. Conscious and Understanding. Firm and Resolute. We are reminded this time and time again by our instructors and by our learned Physician Peers so as to command the presence of the floor. And the nursing staff and allied health staff who complete the order. And to exude a level of control of the setting so as to provide the patient with some kind of restitution and comfort despite their ailing condition.

There is NO ROOM for unprofessional conduct in the hospital floor.
You want to talk and flirt, go outside in a diner, or in the cafeteria.

Lorenzo.

For me, what really annoys me jud is when I am at work and talking with my colleagues to discuss patient charts, and some older nurses joke around all the time and try to say how we can be introduced to somebody's so and so's daughter who is single and who is a nursing student etc. etc. How degrading.

We did not go into this profession or sweated and sacrificed to be treated as if we are eligible bachelors etc.

I really do not like that. Nor do I like that mentality of some people. You're at work. WORK.

Ako lang. Di jud ko mo sulti. Quiet lang jud ko didto. I am merely expressing it here.

How true that is, in the medical field there is no room for error,
though its documented the med errors that happened many
times over.
Full attention needs to be on the patient to be treated as a
human being not as an object though in the third world
country like the Philippines ang mga  way kwarta  lahi
ang treatment kay sa naay ikabayad.

Pero diri sa U.S. makiha ka diretso, I can testify into this
because last year sa akong  gitrabahoan naapil ko sa
gitawag for deposition kay may patient sa among unit
namatay, gigukod sa pamilya ang  ospital.

Wala  mamatay sa akong shift  pero as a witness kay days
ago before the incident, usa ko sa mga nurse niya.
But to make it short, na settle ra before miatubang sa
  court.

Thank the Lord for His  help once again.

Thank you for sharing this statement, Ma'am.

After this incident, I was given a strict lesson from my medical preceptor. It was rather annoying, in my part that this young nurse interrupted us in our lesson. As my preceptor is a very strict man, he did give me a "lecture" in evading these "unprofessional situations". I was annoyed since I was put to blame and was subject to his litany of disapprovals and what not.

I respect his lesson and lecture, as my attending physician and medical preceptor, I will honor his view and his medical knowledge.

For me lang, it is okay to talk and discuss when the shift is over, or during breaks, however, given the situation that I was with a patient and was under supervision by the attending. It was not the proper time. For me, bitaw, I do take the time to be kind to the nurses and the nursing staff. During breaks and what not. However, the given situation was not opportune.

Mao na. Be firm jud. The trait of a great physician is being firm and resolute.

To My Love,

I worked today for 8 hours, however in the back of my mind was the thought of you. And your beautiful face.
My Love, I cannot wait to have you in my arms again. As well as when I am united with you.
The days are long and the nights are cold. I miss you.
My lips crave your kisses and my powerful arms yearn to embrace you and protect you again.
My hands miss your soft fingers.

Virgil,

Yes, using cialis or sildenafil (these are vasodilators) can effective drugs to maintain erection for hours. he he
However, beware, especially for those who are taking nitrates for therapy (nitroprusside, nitroglycerin, etc) as it can lead to a fatal decrease in blood pressure and can lead to death when combined.

The benefit of youth is that we do not need such drug supplements since sexuality is prime and at its peak.
Have fun and be Safe.

Lorenzo, I don't believe of one hour continuous erection. Erection will follow after one hour, then one hour later.

Mr. Felix, I can personally attest to you that, it is indeed possible to maintain an erection for an hour or more.
An erection of the penile glans penis is initiated through proper physical and temperate stimulation. The moisture of a woman's vagina reticularis when it rubs with the ventral portion of the glans penis will stimulate vasodilatory effect, in effect causing the parasympathetic to stimulate the penile organ. And increase blood flow.

So long as the stimulation is great and strong enough, the penis will remain erect continuously. Until the point of orgasmal threshold has been impinged.

A man can withold orgasm (cumming) by merely removing his penis from the vagina reticularis ; thereby delaying and preventing orgasm and in the process continue sexual acitivity indefinitely.

But I must say, there is only so much a man can do to maintain this zone of sexual drive. There will be a time when the urge to climax will be so strong that the man will allow the threshold to be hit. Thereby allowing a very strong and powerful orgasm.

It is simple male sexual physiology. really. :)

My advice for natural sildenafil (he he he):

You need to look at a woman's body as a target. Her body is like a classical painting. A work of art, you can say. One should not just go directly; you need to look at it, strategize it from all angles (he he he). Appreciate the colors, the blending schemes. Appreciate it in length.

hehehe.

what worries me is if erection persisted to 5 hours which i know is dangerous.... ;)

Nothing is wrong with that, Ma'am.

5 hours can give a woman at least 3-4 orgasms. If he is lucky. he he he.

Ako, modesty aside, I can maintain an erection for hours. When I climax, I get back into action if the partner is willing.

Keep it wild. Keep it raunchy. Great Sex helps in the relationship.
That is what makes a relationship GREAT:
1. Great compatability
2. Great talks
3. Great cooking together
4. Great honesty
5. Great, Great Sex
6. Sex some more.
