Pagasa: LPA marks start of rainy season

Philstar.com - MANILA, Philippines â€" A low pressure area (LPA) spotted northeast of Basco, Batanes signals the start of the rainy season, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said today.

In a news conference in Quezon City today, Robert Sawi, chief of the Pagasa weather forecasting, said rain gauge monitors in weather stations across the country have nearly accumulated 25 milliliters of rain. This, Sawi said, indicates the start of the rainy season.

"At least three weather stations have already registered the required criteria to declare the onset of rainy season, we only need one more reports so we can declare the start of the rainy season," he said.

Sawi issued the statement as the weather bureau spotted an LPA about 40 kilometers northwest of Basso, Batanes â€" which could possibly develop into a cyclone and be the first of the 11 weather disturbances expected to hit the country in the next six months.

He added that Pagasa expects two typhoons to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this month. - By Perseus Echeminada (Philstar News Service, www.philstar.com)

This is interesting to read about, Mike. I discussed this with my father earlier this week and we both agree that Mr. Abunda is, indeed, a proficient public speaker. Whatever his decision is, his talent in the public state is noteworthy. I also recently found out from my father that Abunda is Visayan. Apparently the man is from Samar-Leyte.

Sakto ka Bro, he is a Waray, I think Eastern Samar if Im not mistaken.

#3335
Panigurado wa ganing na makatrabaho as security guard. Dia puy COCOFED representative kay wa puy kalubian. BUHAY party list ni Mike Velarde kay way girepresent nga sector, mura man ba ug ang mga tawo gibinuangan ra.

It should be a requirement nga kung ikaw maoy representative sa party list kinahanglan unta nga ikaw may experience ug at least 5 or 10 years sa sector nga imohang girepresentar. Kay niining pamaagiha tataw gajud nga ang imong kasing kasing ug gugma tua sa pagpalambo ug pag uswag sa sector nga imohang gidala. As an organizational requirement nga may number of years gikan sa pagkatukod sa party list usa puwede maaccredit as party list under COMELEC.

May mga isda nga naturally found ra sa Africa nga recently nasubad sa Pilipinas like the giant sunfish. Siguro trend na ni karon sa aquatic species tungod sa "unusual heating or cooling" sa mga dagat tungod sa global warming. Those species have been here since the dawn of human civilization, kung karon pa ni sila madiskubrehe nga nahalagpot sa laing bahin sa kalibutan then dili siguro tubag ang ocean current sa nahitabong misteryo.

Pagasa: LPA spotted off Northern Luzon

Philstar.com MANILA, Philippines â€" A low pressure area (LPA) has been spotted off Northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported today.

"Bed Of Lies"
Matchbox Twenty

No I would not sleep in this bed of lies
So toss me out and turn in
And there'll be no rest for these tired eyes
I'm marking it down to learning
I am

Don't think that I can take another empty moment
Don't think that I can fake another hollow smile
It's not enough just to be lonely
Don't think that I could take another talk about it

Just like me you got needs
And they're only a whisper away
And we softly surrender
To these lives that we've tendered away

No I would not sleep in this bed of lies
So toss me out and turn in
And there'll be no rest for these tired eyes
I'm marking it down to learning
I am

Don't wanna be the one who turns the whole thing over
Don't wanna be somewhere where I just don't belong
Where it's not enough just be sorry

Don't you know I feel the darkness closing in
Tried to be more than me
And I gave till it all went away
And we've only surrendered
To the worst part of these winters we've made

No I would not sleep in this bed of lies
So toss me out and turn in
And there'll be no rest for these tired eyes
I'm marking it down to learning
I am

I am all that I'll ever be
When you - lay your hands
Over me but don't go weak on me now
I know that it's weak
But God help me I need this

I will not sleep in this bed of lies
So toss me out and turn in
And there'll be no rest for these tired eyes
I'm marking it down to learning
I'm marking it down to learning
'Cause I am

This is so interesting, bro. I feel so limited because the extent of my knowledge about my Filipino Fatherland is based mostly in the Visayas. There are so much more to discover, aside from the different dialects of Visaya. I want to know more about other Filipino dialects such as Illocano, Tagalog, Maranao, Tausug etc.

In regards to Itawis, Vince, can you understand them at all? Are there some words that are similar to Visaya, or is it totally different?

Its totally different Bro. Hehehehehe. Wa jamo koy nasabtan. For the Ibanag, nagtuon ko sa pagkakaron, I know vocabulary words pero I find it difficult kung unsa pag construct sa sentence or pag istorya.

Pareho diay ta ug interest Bro, languages. I write in my diary using Baybayin text tailored for English language aside from Filipino. I also know the Alibata alphabet. If ever Bro you want to explore more on alphabets you can visit omniglot.com kay tua didto halos tanan including Filipino alphabets. ;D

Arroyo one of the best Presidents the country ever had, bishop says

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya - Weeks before the president departs from Malacañang, one of her most staunch supporters â€" the bishop of the diocese of Nueva Vizcaya â€" has declared that Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is one of the best presidents the Philippines ever had.

Despite attacks from forces out to undermine her leadership, Arroyo remains to be one of the country’s best presidents, Bishop Ramon Villena said in a speech before hundreds of villagers.

The speech was delivered during Mrs. Arroyo’s inauguration of the Bitnong-Belance road in Dupax del Norte town Monday.

“Our time may judge you as unpopular but I’m sure history will soon rectify this judgment and prove that you are one of the best presidents this country has ever had," he said in a speech, which also thanked the President for the project’s completion.

There are "some critics who are making criticisms here and there" but has yet to come out with strong evidence, said Villena, who was emotional in his speech.

In an obvious swipe against congressional inquiries that probed controversial deals and issues that hounded the Arroyo administration â€" including the ZTE Broadband Scandal, the Fertilizer Scam, and the alleged rigging of the 2004 elections â€" Villena noted that “they" have investigated for so long but nothing came out of it.

"Ang tagal nilang nag imbestiga pero wala naman ebidensya pero sa ebidensya for her love…meron ebidensya, malakas ang ebidensya nang kanyang pag-ibig sa atin," he said.

(It took a long time for them to investigate but they came up with no evidence. However, there’s strong evidence of her love for us.)

According to him, Mrs. Arroyo is the only president that has ever visited the area and in the process, has made it one of her “greatest legacy and gift to the indigenous peoples of Belance and the entire Novo Vizcayanos."

Bishop known to be soft towards illegal numbers game
In his diocese, the prelate has his own share of controversies particularly his alleged soft hand stance against ‘jueteng’ or illegal numbers game.

While he periodically assails it, some parishioners have complained that he could have shown a more hard line approach against illegal gambling than just issuing statements or that he could have taken advantage of his closeness to the president to seek a crackdown on jueteng at least in his diocese.

Nueva Vizcaya is currently one of the provinces in the country that is host to Meridien Vista Gaming Corporation’s online numbers game.

It is almost identical to jueteng but its numbers are generated electronically from Jai-alai games played at the Fronton inside the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority based in Sta. Ana Cagayan.

Although its legality is still being contested, a temporary restraining order has been issued, allowing its continued operation.

Villena, a senior member of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and presidential appointee as chairman of the Regional Development Council in Region 2, has been known as one Mrs. Arroyo’s most steadfast supporters.

His reportedly is a long time friend of the Arroyo family since the children of the First Family were still toddlers.

He said that he personally requested the president for the road project in Belance which, incidentally, is his favorite parish.

The Catholic prelate said that he will always cherish and remember their friendship everytime he will pass by the road going to the village.

At the celebration of his 71st birthday last March 16 at the Clergy House in capital town Bayombong, Bishop Villena even extolled Mrs. Arroyo by pronouncing that she is the “Queen of Infrastructures."

The mountain village of Belance is an agricultural community, producing a variety of fruits, vegetables, and root crops but its rugged roads has contributed little to the upliftment of its people.

The paving of the 13.194 kilometer, P 330 million Bitnong-Belance road that started in 2008, is part of the government’s North Luzon Agri-Busines Quadrangle project and is seen to finally help improve the economy not only of the mountain communities in Dupax del Norte but farmers across the province as a whole.

According to Secretary Victor Domingo of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), it is projected to be the inception of a road network that will open trade between the provinces of Aurora in Region 3 and Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino in Region 2. â€" RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
