been there.  no regrets.  but just like any photograph, it's more beautiful to look at than being in the midst of the scene.  what we don't feel by looking at a picture, like ambiance, makes up for the failed promise of beauty in a photograph.

ugh.  just because he performed well as prosecutor in the corona impeachment trial?  it was a one-off thing, no more, no less.  try reading up on his background, especially how he treated his beauty queen/actress wife who committed suicide.  it might give an idea of what he is as a person.  we forget so soon, doubtless.

oops.  just a point of clarification, please.

what exactly does being "more than a boholano" entail?  does it mean that being extraordinary, like your idol here, raises one to become "more than a boholano" while the ordinary ones, the rest of the mere mortals, are simply "boholano"?

when else could a "boholano" be conferred with the title of "more than a boholano" aside from being an ultimate host of a hotel?  are there other possibilities?

is dagohoy qualified?  what about governor edgar chatto?  and tarsiers?  are they more, or less?

lastly, what is the synonym of "more than a boholano"?  does it happen to be cebuano, ilonggo, ilocano, bicolano, surigaonon, bisaya, luzoner, or martian? ;D

ugh.  going through all this psychological-physiological and what-have-you rigmarole when you can just ask your wife or sister or daughter?  let me do the task...

note though that i am one of those rare females who want to go to the restroom alone, honest.  thus i can't stand friends who ask me to come along.  i go for speed and efficiency and some company will only deter me.

1.  most women, especially young ladies, don't want to walk alone to the restroom in public places, like a restaurant.  they feel that all eyes are on them, and they're self-conscious.  some company serves as a crutch.

2.  women want to talk to someone while waiting in a long line.  yes, almost always, there's a long line inside women's restrooms, especially in malls.

3.  some women share make-up items when they retouch their facial make-up.  (i don't have mascara with me today, may i borrow yours?)  or they simply want assurance from another woman inside the restroom that they look okay.

4.  you were right about one thing; women gossip inside the restroom.  once, i heard some women talk about me.  you bet i enjoyed their facial expressions when i went out a cubicle and stared them down.  thanks, i heard everything, i said.  never had i felt so victorious.

i see to it, though, that i keep our little girl company inside restrooms.  but let me tell you, my disdain for the company of other women inside restrooms does not make me a man.

i made no sale with my fighting cocks.  when a potential buyer points at a certain cock, i turned him down by giving different reasons, i.e., not that, he is still recovering; that one is my favorite, etc.  it became terrible for me to part with my fighting cocks.  each one has its own charms and i wanted to keep them as pets.

but i got a whole small sari-sari store from a soft drinks company manager.  it was a complete small building installed by the fence, ready with ten cases of soft drinks, in exchange for two cocks.  another two went to a certain guy, for free.  this certain guy became my husband.  hahaha! ;D

my apologies for this thread on a mini-van sale to turn into chickens.  i just have to tell my story.  threads evolve, like eggs turning into fighting cocks.  to the seller of the mini-van, you are selling your car for a song.  (ours cost 160k, brand new, inclusive of registration.)  i'm sure you can sell your mini-van that fast.  :)

they turned into real beautiful fighting cocks, honest.  kelso, brown-red, etc., breeds that are high-powered, and i researched on their fighting abilities.  at this point, i stopped eating chicken and eggs.

expectedly, the backyard was filled with chicken cages.  the problem of chickens getting scared of pyrotechnics during christmas season was solved by having all the chickens inside my bedroom during christmas eve and new year's eve.

my chickens/cocks went up for sale.  some men came for a look-see.  i noticed their dismay when they realized that i'm a female.  for me to have credibility, someone tipped, i have to join a cockfight and make a record.  that's out of the question.  cockfighting makes me sick.

i understand her feelings.  many years ago, when i was still single, i had chickens too.  they were fighting cocks, actually.

someone from negros occidental (famous for high-grade fighting cocks) gave me eggs and told me to wait for them to hatch and i'll have great fighting cocks to start a business.  out of 12 eggs, only one didn't turn into a chick.  oh, i placed them in the living room and the whole house smelled of chicken feed.

hehe, imagine, even owners are judged by their car.  what a crazy world.

once, we arrived at the mactan airport lugging 5 pet carriers, each with one cat.  the porters must have thought we were rich (5 cats on the plane, wow!), believing that our cats are of expensive breed perhaps (i told them though that they are street cats that look beautiful because they're cared for and they can do the same, i mean, pick up strays and care for them).  well, obviously for them we spent for the cats' trips, so we must have some money, hehe.

then they saw bluey coming.  they asked if it's the car we were waiting for; i said yes.  i saw the disbelief on their faces, it made my day.  serves them right for their presumptions. ;D

In any case, physicians, too, need to cry and to let out emotions. In the end, we are all human.

Why are we , as medical providers, trained in medical school not to talk about religion, spirituality, yet we attest to the fact that patient's spirituality actually increases their survival time and increases healing time?

What can you do?

Some of us may be angered, appalled, disgusted and even disturbed by this feature. Remember everyone is entitled to an opinion! Cultural practices are cultural practices and they vary from civilization to civilization, but it should not be an excuse to cruelty. Most of the world views dogs as trusted companions, but in Asia, millions of them are still consumed for meat.  If you are an animal lover would like to end dog meat trade or help raise awareness or sign a petition to ban eating of dogs or want to donate to support the cause, feel free to visit the website listed below to learn more about the groups, their cause and what you can do to help.

Modernization in China is increasing at remarkable speed and there is a new awareness of animals, and their welfare pertaining to a new generation of informed and passionate people. What’s more, the media is playing a primary role in the change of people’s attitude. Education and awareness is the key to ending the misery of dogs. There has never been a better opportunity of reaching out, extending the message so that attitudes can change and gradually a new consensus on the goodness of dogs and cats as our friends and helpers â€" and not food â€" can emerge and prevail.

Today, dogs are increasingly being recognized within China as dependable and even crucial members of family and society. Changing family demographics, such as childless couples and increasing numbers of elderly people living alone, mean that more and more people are turning to dogs for companionship and support. As a result, pet ownership is booming, with just over 150 million pet dogs throughout the nation â€" one for every nine people. according to the Beijing Kennel Club, pet owners in the city spend more than 500 million RMB on their pets a year. Experts say that the market potential for the “pet economy” could reach a minimum of 15 billion RMB, far exceeding the economic potential of the trade in dog meat. Now dogs are being employed as sniffer dogs at airports and railway stations, they have also become invaluable and cheap in the assistants of law enforcement. Dogs and other companion animals also provide an important financial, as well as emotional, contribution to China.

Several Asian countries have now legislated against dog-meat consumption. The more significant problem in countries where bans do exist appears to lie with enforcement issues, for example:

• The Philippine Animal Welfare Act No. 8485, (1998) bans the trading and eating of dog meat. However, animal welfare groups claim that widespread corruption of officials and other agencies means that the law is not enforced.

• Taiwan’s Animal Protection Bill (1988) bans killing dogs for food, but once again the ban is not enforced and there are purportedly around 60 dog meat restaurants throughout Taiwan.

• In 1984 the South Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare classified dog meat and dog soup as “disgusting foods” and food sanitation laws have also been introduced to ban the manufacturing and selling of dog meat. Restaurant owners caught selling dog meat can have their business licenses removed on their third offence. Despite this framework, the Ministry of Health and Welfare does not enforce the Law so that dog meat restaurants remain common and an illegal dog and cat meat trade continues to flourish. In fact pressure from the dog meat industry and consumers now appears to be pushing the government towards formally backtracking and distinguishing “food dogs” and “pet dogs”.

Health and Food / Why humans must avoid DOG MEAT
June 26, 2012, 01:10:03 PM
avoid dog meat, please.  dogs are friends and companions, not food.  if you want to have them for dinner, seat them in front of you, if not beside you.

some reasons for avoiding dog meat:

Risk to Human Health

There are significant health risks related with the farming, slaughter and consumption of dogs. Unsanitary conditions in farms present the most favorable conditions for microbes to reproduce. Diseases such as parvo virus, canine distemper and leptospirosis are common and spread like wildfire in dogs whose immune systems are already low and weakened due to the poor health and starvation. The trade and movement of dogs over large areas increase the risk of disease transmission. There are a number of pathogens associated with the dog meat industry; the most recently documented include cholera, rabies, and trichinellosis.

Cholera: Following a Cholera outbreak in Vietnam in 2008 the World Health Organisation’s representative in Vietnam warned that eating dog meat, or other food from outlets that serve it, is linked to a 20-fold increase in the risk of developing the severe acute watery diarrhea commonly caused by the cholera bacterium. In 2009 seven provinces and cities in the northern and central regions had announced patient’s positive for the cholera bacterium. On May 13, the Hanoi Health Department declared it had found the cholera bacterium in five samples of dog meat taken from four slaughterhouses in Ha Dong district.

Rabies: Research published in March 2009 in the open access journal PLoS Medicine, reports on two patients admitted to hospital showing signs of rabies infection. Neither patient was thought to have been bitten by a rabid animal in the preceding months. When the researchers investigated whether the patients had come into contact with infected animals, they found that both had been involved in preparing and eating animals that may have been infected.

waaaaaahhhh!  :'( :'( :'( i wish i were a witch so i can go there and take out the innards of those dog-eaters!
#32762
i have asked the concerned to have the theft of the dog on police blotter.  yes, they reported that puppee was stolen.  i told them that i'm still hoping she'll come back.  they said that after two weeks, they've given up all hope.
#32763
curses to all the dog-eaters in the world, huhuhu. :'(

never mind that i spent four figures for puppee and her owner's trip to butuan, where the owner came from.  it was a logistical nightmare considering the necessary vaccinations and permit to travel.  nag-nose bleed ko just to fulfill those things.  but i grieve because gentle dog puppee is just less than a year old and she only had a few month's break when she arrived in butuan.  hinaot unta nga kagiron all his life ang niihaw niya, huhuhu.

subjects of the occasion: puppee the street dog
and his owner (to protect his privacy, let's call him "ondo")

bad news from butuan.  i received a text message today that puppee, the dog in the pictures, who i tried so hard to save and take off the streets last january, had gone missing for two weeks now.  they suspect a dog-eater of a neighbor to have done her in.  i want to shout and curse if only i could.  hilak na lang ko, huhuhu.  :'(

i'm not afraid.  para doctor... ;D  what i'm afraid of is the needle.  how i hate it when i'm pricked for blood samples.

ang akong di ganahan is the long wait.  also, i noticed most doctors here aren't too keen on insurance.  they prefer patients who bring cash.  i can't blame them.  insurance companies aren't also too keen on paying.  doctors say these companies pay only 80% of the total cost at most.  so the gimmick in hospitals is they charge more for patients with insurance.  an example is the x-ray, which i noticed.  normally, laboratories charge only 350 pesos per chest x-ray.  in the case of the insured, like me, the bill is 500 pesos.

lately, i wanted an executive physical check-up.  the doctor told me that it's not possible as they only check for complaints.  i said well, i'm complaining about everything about me.  he cannot hide his smile.  still, he denied me a thorough check-up.  i told the banana republic to complain about this to the insurance company because our monthly insurance payments are not something to sneeze at.

it all goes down to money matters.  sad.

"Speaking of hating your users. Facebook forces everyone onto its email system. Really, Facebook?! Really?!" tweeted freelance tech journalist Ron Miller.

Blogger Gervase Markham, one of the first to draw attention to the change, was scathing in his comments on it.

"Facebook silently inserted themselves into the path of formerly-direct unencrypted communications from people who want to email me. In other contexts, this is known as a Man In The Middle (MITM) attack," he wrote, referring to a tactic hackers use to intercept electronic messages. "What on earth do they think they are playing at?"

Facebook is trying to hijack your email address

By Julianne Pepitone
@CNNMoneyTech
June 25, 2012

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- If you're a Facebook user, you have a @facebook.com email address, whether you use it or not. Facebook is now automatically posting those addresses to users' profiles and displaying them as the default email address.

Cue the backlash. Facebook told CNNMoney the change has been rolling out for "a few weeks," but many users weren't aware of it until a spate of blog posts and news articles began drawing attention to it on Monday.
