Jesus Christ is LORD!

KNEEL AND REPENT ALL YE SINNERS.

YE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL WHO DIDST WELCOME THY LORD WITH PALMS AND THEN HAD HIM CRUCIFIED!

REPENT YE SINNERS YE SINNERS!

REPENT IN TEARS AND IN KNEELING FOR THY LORD WHO DIDST LOVE YOU THAT HE SENT HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON TO BE LIFE AND SALVATION.

REPENT FOR THE FACT THAT HE WAS NAILED ON THE CROSS FOR THY SAKES...

SO THAT THOSE WHO CALL ON HIS NAME WOULD NOT SUFFER THE HATRED AND WRATH OF THE LORD YOUR GOD

BUT WOULD BE SAVED ON THE LAST DAY...

REPENT!

JESUS IS LORD!

Blue, yes, Science and Faith.

As a man of science, and a Roman Catholic Christian, I am affirmed that Science explains God. It is a confirmation, so to say, that the Christian Faith is legitimized.

My proctor for Medical Pathology is a firm believing Christian. It shows you that science and Christian Faith can find common ground. The fact that one believes in the God does not mean that he is antagonistic to science and its processes.

On the contrary, science illustrates the magnanimity of Our God.

~~

In 1991, the medical community initiated the breakthrough Human Genome Project where we in the medical community discovered and mapped the over 3 Billion base pair human DNA sequence. This project has now been completed. Although human beings appear to be quite different from each other, the sequence of our DNA is, in reality, highly conserved. On average, 2 unrelated individuals share over 99.99% of their DNA sequences. This effectively supports the notion of a primordial Adam and Eve.

Did Mankind come and sprout from an original seed? Yes. Genetically speaking, we did. Is mankind, in essence, related to each other genetically speaking? Yes.

No one can deny this. It is an established fact in the medical / scientific community. Phenotypic variance does not mitigate genotypic conservation.

Prayer:

Lord, In this season of Easter, I sit in adoration of Your most pleasing and perfect Will.
That i am appreciative of your birth, your life, and your dying on the Cross.
So that I could live.

I reaffirm myself, Lord, to my baptismal rights.
I reject Satan and all his lies and cunning tricks.

I proclaim my Faith in Jesus Christ who is LORD.
I believe that God The Father raised HIM from the dead on the 3rd Day.
That he was raised in Glory.
For The Salvation of men who believeth in Him.

Jesus I claim hedgway in You.
I claim strength in you.
That in you, I have direct assistance to the Throne of Divine Mercy.
For you, JESUS, are the mediator between GOD THE FATHER and man.
You who sits and is crowned in GLORY on the right hand of the FATHER.

Jesus to my right.
Jesus to my left
Jesus in my lips
Jesus in my tongue.
Jesus above me
Jesus below me
Jesus beside me
Jesus outside of me
Jesus inside of me

AMEN.

My Jesus, my Saviour
Lord there is none like You
All of my days I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love

My comfort, my shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath, all that I am
Never cease to worship You

Shout to the Lord
All the Earth, let us sing
Power and majesty
Praise to the King
Mountains bow down
And the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name

I sing for joy at the works
Of Your hands
Forever I'll love You
Forever I'll stand
Nothing compares
To the promise I have
In You

The wind is moving
But I am standing still
A life of pages
Waiting to be filled

A heart that's hopeful
A head that's full of dreams
But this becoming
Is harder than it seems

Feels like I'm
Looking for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

If there are millions
Down on their knees
Among the many
Can you still hear me

Hear me asking
Where do I belong?
Is there a vision
That I can call my own?

Show me, I'm
Looking for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

Lookin' for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find
My place in this world
My place in this world
Not a lot to lean on
I need your light to help me find
My place in this world
My place in this world

Lookin' for a reason
Roamin' through the night to find

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

That is where you and I differ. Hebrews 13 verse 20-21 tells us that that we will be strengthened when defending the faith in Christ Jesus.
" Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,  equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us  that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen."

The Wisdom given to us that is found in the Holy Bible and is augmented in the believer's ability to trust in the Wisdom of the Holy Spirit as we read the Holy Bible is truly transformational. Wisdom that comes from The Holy Spirit will allow an understanding of of why things are, and correlate everything with knowledge of the present age. Afterall, the Holy Spirit gives us Wisdom, the product of which is knowledge.

Proverbs 9:10, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy (sacred) is understanding."

Just one example:

"Come now, let us reason together,"

In light of my last statement, history and scientific breakthroughs, which have built upon each other in such a way that it resembles a stratified layer of geologic rocks. Some laws are discarded, as they are proven wrong in later epochs. Which, in the basis of it, indicates to us that there really is no constancy in man made law, or in any human understanding of natural law. Because as history has indicated to us, even widely accepted scientific laws can be proven wrong. In the process of time.

But for me, and for many believers in the Word of God, His Word is flawless and is unchangeable.

Isaiah Chapter 40, Verse 8, (Old Testament)
"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever."

and later reiterated and augmented in 1st Peter Chapter 1 verses 24-25, (New Testament)
"For All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever."And this is the word that was preached to you."

it looks like bai hubag is playing european football while lorenzo is playing on the ol’ banjo.

no matter how much i try to understand lorenzo, i will never fully understand.  but I can try by calling on my friend encarta.  (i’m not a scholar like him.)

debate and abate – as the two are paired here, it must mean to ponder carefully and to lessen the pondering

statistical terms – terms of numerical value

confidence interval – as interval is a period of time between one event and the next, it is safe to assume here that that there is a lapse of time between confidence and no-confidence

theory - can run the gamut from speculation to rules and techniques

hypothesis - is a theory needing investigation

theorem - is an idea accepted as true, or a provable proposition, or formula in mathematics or logic

in english, lorenzo thus could be saying something like:  “ponder carefully and lessen the pondering of the terms of numerical value in the strength of the lapse of time between confidence and no-confidence in defending technique and speculation that needs investigation.”

or nullification of said hypothesis/theorem could mean making invalid or bringing down to zero a theory that needs investigation and a mathematical formula or an idea that is accepted as true.

how groove can proove be, oh groovy proovy.

Theories and laws can be changed, as much as Aristotle's old Scientific Law that there are 3 elements: fire, air, earth.
We now today know that these are not elements, but rather, composition of chemical and biochemical properties that are composed of multiple elements and isotopes.

A medical law and treatment of sickness in the days prior to the understanding of hemostasis and cardiac cycling was the old practice of 'Bleeding'. It was widely accepted and understood by scientists, medical professors and practicing physicians/surgeons in the 16th to the 19th century. That bleeding was necessary to remove the 'poisons of the body. This was largely dismissed when the breakthroughs of anatomy and understanding of hematology was acquired. That bleeding only potentiated the weakening of the already weakened individual.

Other Natural Laws that were considered and held to be true at that particular point of time in history, were in fact proven wrong. In later epochs. Such include:

Flat Earth Hypothesis
Phlogiston Theorem
Geocentric Theory of the Universe
Arisotle's Laws of Dynamic Motion
Newton's Law of Motion (were improved upon by Einstein, esp. on relativity)

Science is really is a constant improvement.

In my personal belief and opinion Hubag, yes. It does. Because Genetics and Molecular Biology shows to us the ordered structure of the microscopic level as well as the organismal and the planetary level. Everything is ordered.

Who ordered it?

I leave that to the believer.

Which recent discoveries are these?

If you study medicine, and the biological sciences, which is the field that I am in, then one is fortunate to see the Wisdom of God in everyday occurrences, and sees His marvelous creation in play. For it is perfect. Perfection.

Genesis 1:31 , "And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. "

Indeed everything he made was good. From the organismal level to the micoscopic level that works within the organismal system. God, in his brilliance and Wisdom designed everything so that it follows the law of AA (Amino Acids), which is the primordium of proteins, which is the product of genetic translation, elongation, and eventual transcription. By this we stand to the fact that mature RNA (m-RNA) is the precursor to proteins, and proteins, my dear Hubag Bohol, is the basis for every single message and aspect of the human and organismal body.

It is proteins that compose hormones, it is proteins that make up tissues, it is protein that makes up the collagenous basis of bone matrices, muscle, dense fibers. The brain that you and I utilize that allows us to think and rationalize by the activity of our cerebral cortex, which is responsible for memory, rational thought, conscious and subconscious thought, relays this information to the midbrain, and the hypothalamus which is responsible for emitting hormones to stimulate your neuromuscular juction to release ACH (acetylcholine) which leads to the release of calcium and muscular activity, thereby focusing and harnessing your physical ability to type your fingers on the keyboard, and at the same time, in harmonious conjunciton with your cerebral thought to debate and process thoughts into words via the use of physical motor ablities.

All of which rely on the trinucleotidic base sequence, which produces amino acids, which produces proteins, which is essential for all life.

~~

And what is more beautiful is that though the body experiences genetic devation and mutation due to environmental stresses and genetic predisposition, the body has been already designed to erase and fix mutated genes via genetic excision repair, missense repair, etc.

~~

The glorious advances in molecular genetics gives to us an understanding of what God can do, and what God did do, in his Supreme Intelligence and Design.

Indeed. Everything he did and designed was good. And is Good. If there is a flaw, he designed it to be replaced inherently. If there is deviation, he desgined it so that balance will occur and that balance is his Divine Command.

We see the necessity of balance in nature, which relates to Malthusian theory, as well as in the concept of herbivory and carnivory (ecological science) and see that balance is also a law in the microscopic level. In our own bodies.

As our bodies require homeostasis to function, so does our blood. It requires hemostasis, because a devation from balance leads to damage and even irreperable repair. Such as seen in thrombosis, and plaque formation, which translates to Myocardial Infarct (Heart Attack) if it is not assessed and repaired.

Divine Law and Natural Law, have common ground.

It is in reference to how members of the scientific community debate and discuss scholarly journals that follow the scientific method. Essential to scientific debate is to state a hypothesis, reasons for it established in previous scholarly work, and implementing methods and materials in substantiating the said hypothesis. When this is done, one utilizes data and graphs to indicate support for one's hypothesis. Critical to this is statistical measurements; and follow confidence intervals; namely assessing the positive correlation or negative correlation in statistical numbers. Ergo, is there positive correlation or negative correlation, is the hypothesis supported by trial and methodology or is it countered. This is where null hypothesis comes to play and its role is evident.

In the scientific scholarly community, we cannot substantially prove anything, however, we can indicate strong confidence in support of a said hypothesis by statistical numbers, graphs, tables.

It is impossible to conclusively prove something 100% because if one argues in scientific methodology, we inherently accept that there will always be the presence of human error. The very basis of scientific experimentation, and research follows the regimen of The Scientific Method is composed of the following:

Define the question
Gather information and resources (observe)
Form hypothesis
Perform experiment and collect data
Analyze data
Interpret data and draw conclusions that serve as a starting point for new hypothesis
Publish results
Retest (frequently done by other scientists)

Continual retesting by the scientific community is due to the inherent human error in any experimentation; and subsequent tests utilize statistical confirmation in their data result and compare it to the results of the primordial experiment (first data) and compare it how it statistically is similar to the original data (strong confidence) or is different to the original data (weak confidence).

~~

In regards to faith, we argue based on reason, and doctrine. Science on the other hand argues based on numbers and theories and natural law.

To better understand and have a general comprehension of both sides, it is best to read into both, even, if possible, find common ground.

I like Martin Luther King Jr's opinion on said matter when he was asked about religion and its relation to science.,

"Science investigates; religion interprets. Science gives man knowledge which is power; religion gives man wisdom which is control. Science deals mainly with facts; religion deals mainly with values.

The two are not rivals. They are complementary.

Science keeps religion from sinking into the valley of crippling irrationalism and paralyzing obscurantism. Religion prevents science from falling into the marsh of obsolete materialism and moral nihilism."

~~

I agree much with King's position. In the light of recent discoveries, which adds depth to Scripture.

Shepherd Me O God - Psalm 23

Refrain: Shepherd me, O God, beyond my wants, beyond my fears, from death into life.

1. God is my shepherd, so nothing shall I want, I rest in the meadows of faithfulness and love, I walk by the quiet waters of peace.

2. Gently you raise me and heal my weary soul, you lead me by pathways of righteousness and truth, my spirit shall sing the music of your Name,

3. Though I should wander the valley of death, I fear no evil, for you are at my side, your rod and your staff, my comfort and my hope.

4. You have set me a banquet of love in the face of hatred, crowning me with love beyond my power to hold.

Science, is man's attempt in trying to understand the Supreme Intelligence of Divine Providence.

No matter how much we try to comprehend and understand, we will never fully understand.

Even the scientific method, itself, by basis of standard, cannot 100% proove anything.

Merely, only debate and abate in statistical terms in the strength of its confidence interval; in defending a said theory/hypothesis.

Or nullification of said hypothesis/ theorem.

I am free from any condemnation brought against me and I cannot be separated from the love of God.

Romans 8:31-39
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died more than that, who was raised to life is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:"For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughter"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

A funny thing about this :)

The revolution agains the french started in my city (Mostoles) and now we celebrate the independency day in 2nd may every year in spain because of that.

But the funny thing is my city was officially at war with all France till 1997 I think, because the mayor that started the revolution rejected to sign the peace by that time.

200.000 people in a city with no army "at war" against France lol :D

This is not surprising, since the French had a historical, social and economic effect on the fabric of Spanish Society.
The invasion of Spain by the French was devastating for Madrid because it effectively led to the loss of most of its overseas colonies, one that was a pivotal source of national pride and investment and historical purpose since the days of the courts of Aragon and Castille. Even after the war and the end of France's le'Empeur, Spain was incapable of ever reclaiming its colonies due to the severity of the Peninsular War.

Hundreds of thousands of Spanish men and boys were recruited into the French Grande Armee and sent of to wars in Western and Eastern Europe; many of them dying in the frozen tundras of Russia. In a war that was forced upon them and did not benefit Spain whatsoever at all.

In all of the nations involved in this war, throughout all of Europe, the one that suffered the most was Spain.
In one swift stroke, the French not only impressed upon the Spanish sociel gentry, her able-bodied men, but also forced heavy taxation on the people, maligned the Roman Catholic Church, and repudiated the established Aristocracy, and set in place the motion of anti-Autocratic sentiments.

After the war, Spain was left weakened, devastated, and ripe for revolution.

~~

You and I will ask: Why did Spain loose its battles to France so quickly and so easily?

ANSWER: History and military strategem indicates to us that though the Spaniards were numerically undermatched, they held their ground on the field of battle, and routed more than enough legions of the French Imperial Army. But even strategy of tactics did not win the day; as the French had numerical superiority and regional and logistic support.

Spain, technically, had a larger army than the French.
The Spanish Empire had an army and man force that exceeded over 200,00 men. But most of these were dispersed throughout the world in its colonies in Viceroyalties of Nueva Espana, La Plata, Peru. An additional 20,000 man force in Las Islas Filipinas y Guam. Leaving less than 80,000 men in the Spanish Motherland.

Though Spain was defeated in battle and though Madrid was taken by force and at point of gun and bayonnett, the Spaniards waged a relentless Guerilla Warfare with the French.

~~

Bravery, indeed, cannot be denied to the Spanish soldier in this war.
As the officers of the Royal Spanish Army would tell their men before battle, I will repeat it here:
"Los Soldados de Espana! PARA EL DIOS! PARA EL REY DE ESPANA! PARA ESPANA MADRE!"
(Soldiers of Spain! For God, For King, For Country!)

Hundreds of orphanages have been opened throughout the world, namely in the Indian Subcontinent, where her organization has helped in saving and raising thousands of children. All of these orphanages are run purely on donation from faithful.

hahaha. Father, naka remember ko that the best of us, too, have our bad days.

I am reminded of one of the Doctors of the Church, St. Augustine of Hippo, who was a sinner before he was saved in Christ Jesus.

And even Blessed Paul (formerly known as Saul) who was responsible for the death (as he was a pharisee) of the St. Stephen, a martyr of Christ. But Paul (formerly known as Saul) was given a vision in the road where he saw Christ.
And found Christ.

~~

I am reminded by adoration of the Blessed Word that even our first Pope, Simon Bar Jonah (Cephas/ Peter), too, was not without faults. But God had plans for him, nonetheless. Great plans, for the creation of the Church, which was built upon Peter (Cephas/ THE ROCK).

God Bless you, Father. :)

I close my eyes
and i am brought back to the past,
i can smell the salty air of panglao, bohol.

The family in our jeep.

Uncle Roy in the driver's seat driving us all to panglao. With his black Ray Ban sun glasses.
Mama Luz in the back sitting with me, jingjing, angel, uncle roger in the passenger seat.
Mommy Wella and the items of food in pots and pans.

I can hear the clinking of the pots, the dishes, the admixture of the sweet fragrance of food and the smell of blue ocean's breeze.

I can feel the warmth of the boholano sun, the caress of the boholano winds blushing my face, my hair dancing with the winds. Time preserved in my youthful memory. And in that exact moment, I can hear your laughter, i can see your face, your smile, your hand brushing my head. As angel, jing and i sit next to our grandmother. Our Mama Luz.

You live in my heart. For always.

I Love You.

This is my favorite Worship Song. During my tenure in the Church Choir last year, my parish priest, Fr. Ranulfo Gunido, introduced us to this song and singing during mass.

This song brings so much joy to my heart when i listen to it; and a synergistic effect when I sing and listen to it. :)

A great acoustic version of Hillsong's "Mighty To Save."

Mighty To Save- Hillsong (acoustic)

Lyrics:

Everyone needs compassion,
Love that's never failing;
Let mercy fall on me.

Everyone needs forgiveness,
The kindness of a Saviour;
The Hope of nations.

Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.

Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

So take me as You find me,
All my fears and failures,
Fill my life again.

I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in,
Now I surrender.

My Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

Shine your light and let the whole world see,
We're singing for the glory of the risen King...Jesus (x2)

My Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

My Saviour, you can move the mountains,
You are mighty to save,
You are mighty to save.
Forever, Author of Salvation,
You rose and conquered the grave,
Yes you conquered the grave

Litany To The HOLY SPIRIT.
(please pray with me, brothers and sisters, this is a beautiful and powerful prayer)

source: http://catholicism.about.com/od/prayers/qt/Prayer_Gifts_HS.htm

~~

Holy Spirit, divine Consoler, I adore You as my true God, with God the Father and God the Son. I adore You and unite myself to the adoration You receive from the angels and saints.

I give You my heart and I offer my ardent thanksgiving for all the grace which You never cease to bestow on me.

O Giver of all supernatural gifts, who filled the soul of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with such immense favors, I beg You to visit me with Your grace and Your love and to grant me the gift of holy fear, so that it may act on me as a check to prevent me from falling back into my past sins, for which I beg pardon.

Grant me the gift of piety, so that I may serve You for the future with increased fervor, follow with more promptness Your holy inspirations, and observe your divine precepts with greater fidelity.

Grant me the gift of knowledge, so that I may know the things of God and, enlightened by Your holy teaching, may walk, without deviation, in the path of eternal salvation.

Grant me the gift of fortitude, so that I may overcome courageously all the assaults of the devil, and all the dangers of this world which threaten the salvation of my soul.

Grant me the gift of counsel, so that I may choose what is more conducive to my spiritual advancement and may discover the wiles and snares of the tempter.

Grant me the gift of understanding, so that I may apprehend the divine mysteries and by contemplation of heavenly things detach my thoughts and affections from the vain things of this miserable world.

Grant me the gift of wisdom, so that I may rightly direct all my actions, referring them to God as my last end; so that, having loved Him and served Him in this life, I may have the happiness of possessing Him eternally in the next.

AMEN.

A brother asked, "Why do I need to be saved?"

ANSWER:

Because we were all sinners. Romans 3:23 - “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 - “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Eternal death is separation from God. Hebrews 9:27 - “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

~~

A brother also asked, "How does God say I can be saved?"

ANSWER:

Romans 10:8-11, 13 - “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

~~

Closing word of prayer and advice:
Brethren in Christ, or to those who are interested in knowing more about GOSPEL of Christ (THE GOOD NEWS!)
It is with the gladness of my heart to recommend that YOU open a bible. And start reading.
And before you start reading, take a minute of pause and solemn prayer to ask the HOLY SPIRIT to enter your heart and mind to guide you to an answer to your internal question(s).

K - knock

1 Thessalonians 5:9 â€" “For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain
salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

2 Timothy 2:10 -  â€œTherefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect,
that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal
glory.”

Acts 4:12 â€" “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other
name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

Romans 1:16 -  â€œFor I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of
God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the
Greek.” [Gospel means the good news that in Christ we may have forgiveness
of our sins.]

2 Corinthians 7:10 -  â€œFor godly grief produces a repentance that leads to
salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.”

Hebrews 2:9-10 -  â€œBut we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the
angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that
by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. In bringing many sons
to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything
exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through
suffering.”

In 1793, Spain went to war against the new French Republic, which had overthrown and executed its Bourbon king, Louis XVI. The war polarised the country in an apparent reaction against the gallicised elites. Defeated in the field, Spain made peace with France in 1795 and effectively became a client state of that country; the following year, it declared war against Britain and Portugal. A disastrous economic situation, along with other factors, led to the abdication of the Spanish king in favour of Napoleon's brother, Joseph Bonaparte.

The Empire's loss of Royal Grace led to the eventual loss of its overseas colonies, after Spain's Viceroys refused to recognize the newly elected king, Joseph Bonaparte, as King of the Spanish Throne.

Seeing him as a usurper and bearing no Royal Blood whatsoever at all.

I think they are the army when Spain was invaded by France as the costumes are similar to the french ones :)

To be specific, the men in green uniform were part of the elite Spanish Hussars. The light dragoons and the Hussars composed of the Spanish Heavy Cavalry, which was the force that made the Spanish Army a lethal fighting force in Europe.

The top picture is a portrait of Spanish Noble, a commander of the guard. Note the emblem of the Royal Spanish Monarchy.

The lower picture (green) is a portrait of the Spanish Light Dragoons. The cavalry force that was utilized during the Napoleonic Era, when Spain was at war with Britain, Portugal and the Alliance.

The Light Dragoons were shock troops of the Spanish Heavy Cavalry; a force to be feared. The Spaniards have always had one of the greatest cavalry forces in historical European Battles.

In addendum to this,

The transfer of genes from a particular population to another population and the exponentiation of that genetic trait through consanguinity (marriage of related peoples) have occured throughout history and manifests to this day in clinical presentation. This is a result of What we call in the medical field/ scientific field as "Founder Effect".

An example of this is the syndrome called: Gaucher's Syndrome or Tay Sach's Disease, which is a GM2 deficiency (Hexosiminidase A deficiency), which results in mutations in Chromosome 15 in the HEXA gene, leading and manifesting in irreperable neurological damage. This is a common disease in peoples of Ashkenazim Descent (Eastern European Jews). This is a highly devasting disease that is common in peoples of Ashkenazim descent due to founder effect; meaning that there was a high level of conanguinity between peoples and the isolation and prevention of pooling in new genes from outside regions (due to strict customs) led to genetic isolation. When Ashkenazim peoples migrated to America, or Israel, and began marrying different peoples, there were manifestations of the disease and this lead to the discovery of the mutation in the HEXA gene in chromsome 15. Which indicates that this was a recessive genetic disease.

Consanguinity is seen in isolated populations in the Indian subcontinent and in some muslim communities where it is common and tribal practice for cousins to marry cousins; as well as seen in some Dutch communities in South Africa. Where the genetic isolate has proliferated throughout time and during the gametogenesis period.

This is how genes are transferred.

However, i would also like to add, that over time, mutative damage can be cleaved due to the ability of the genetic excision base repair to make what was once a 'common genetic disorder' into a corrected form through the span of thousands of years. It is the beauty of human genetic mutation.

Short term, a mutation of a gene can lead to observable symptomatic problems. But OVER time, a subset of that original population will correct said genetic disorders and mutations of a particular chromosome.

Thus we observe the manifestation of phenotypic variance in population groups. :)
(despite overall, genotypic similarity).

We trace our lineage, biblically speaking, to this essential forebear (Adam and Eve) in that genetically speaking, we are all related. Although scientists have long recognised that, despite physical differences, all human populations are genetically similar, the new work concludes that populations from different parts of the world share even more genetic similarities than previously assumed. (Note the relationship between phenotype and genotype). All humans are 99.9 per cent identical and, of that tiny 0.1 per cent difference, 94 per cent of the variation is among individuals from the same populations and only six per cent between individuals from different populations.

yes that includes the apes who has 99.9999% similar to our DNA's.

as you have clarified before, biblical  does that mean let the bible answer it. so does this mean these are all your assumptions and not biblical?

All creation shares the same universal truth. Which is seen in the process of TT (transcription and translation) of genes. The processesing of RNA to DNA (and the reverse transcriptase abilities) and the transcription into proteins (mature RNA).

Humans are similar in that we all, as a species share 23 pairs of chromsomes; and when it goes through the meiotic/mitotic duplicaiton, becomes 46 pairs of sister chromatids. And then in the meiotic processes, becomes and observes the haploidy (the splitting of diploids to haploids). Thus preparing the species to undergo gametogenesis.

Humans are different from other primates in that we have 23 pairs of chromsomes. Other primates such as chimps, gorillas, orangutans have 24. Thereby implicating a complete difference if genetic variance and thus inable to proliferate. All primates have similar numbers of chromosomes.

(By you saying that chimps have 99.99% of human DNA is in err; rather what scientists and geneticists are saying is that chimps have the same replicative processes as other eukaryotes (humans, being the apex of organogenesis, shares in this due to the eukaryotic universalism of eukaryotic species). It is the same as how humans, apes, and flies share similar homeobox; meaning the universality of the Trinucleotidic base pairs. Leading to the fact that all creation shares similarity in trinucleotidic repeats; and deviation of those repeats leads to mutative manifestations. (frame shift, or deleterious repeats).

Humans, in pathological conditions may have a lacking of one chromosome or deletion of one; particularly in cases of Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome), which manifests clinically into cardiac deficits, mental retaradation, as well as phenotypic deviation from norm; seen in the presence of simean crease, as well as increased evidence of epicanthal eye folds and susceptibility to develop leukemias and immunological sequelae.

The Bible is clear. The Bible states in very plain and simple language at Genesis 5:4 that "...he (Adam) became father to sons and daughters." Notice the plural "sons" and "daughters."

His sons, including Cain, would have married their sisters, or nieces. This would sound repulsive to us today, but consider the circumstances back then. It would have been proper at that time, since the Earth's population was relatively sparse, and the human race was to be proliferated according to God's purpose. It was only later that God made the restriction not to marry one's own sister or brother.

The heterozygosity of human populations are transferable. Genetically we are all related, some how and some where. Our ability to interbreed with one another is suggestive and indicative of Biblical Scripture on Adam and Eve.

In addendum to this,

The transfer of genes from a particular population to another population and the exponentiation of that genetic trait through consanguinity (marriage of related peoples) have occured throughout history and manifests to this day in clinical presentation. The diversification of plants as explained to us in the study of Ecology indicates support to the Bible's specific verse in Genesis Chapter 1 verses 11, 12.,

"Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. "

This verse in Scripture indicates to us the processes of Herbal Diversification; from the simple Shrubs, mosses, to the more diverse and complex evergreen, grass, wheat etc. Plant species diversification is supported and observed in the reading of Genesis. Since the dawn of creation, the diversification of plant species has been a constant effect; through means of species competition (allelopathy) to maintain specific reproductive measures for species continuation and inhibit competitive species.

The study of Ecology, a core Science in the field of Biology, does legitimize Biblical notion of plant growth.

How did Adam and Eve multiplied?  lets say they have a hundred thousand children, then how did the children multipled? and i noticed that there is a big gap in the book of Genesis alone. We cant skip that very beginning because that has raised  so much questions.

The heterozygosity of human populations are transferable. Genetically we are all related, some how and some where. Our ability to interbreed with one another is suggestive and indicative of Biblical Scripture on Adam and Eve.

Nicely put Enz. That's why we needed someone like you to appease our fears and wonderings. And doubts at worst. You have a strong sense of that Christian aroma that never seems to make sense the easy way (LoL). But you make it permeate everywhere... when you can sense insecurity and stubborness on our part. While the devil is advocating, you are fighting for truth and salvation!!! Thank you, St. Bran...  ;)

Father, it is our obligation as Christians of Word and Deed. This is what I call and attribute to effective Catholic Evangelization!

It is a movement that is occuring throughout the nation. Throughout all the world. That the youth be subjected to study and to defend the faith of our fathers, mothers, and the Church. A Faith that was under attack time and time again by the enemies of the Word of God and by the deception of the Devil. To deviate the faith and the pilgrimage of Faith.

My Catholic Priest, Fr. Hoffman, who was my spiritual director during my time of discernment into the calling of priesthood or a life of holy laity once said to me, and I will never forget this.,

"We are called to a life of holiness. A life that Jesus through the Holy Spirit, directs us. He does not do this for us, but works in us and manifests Himself through our own abilities. You and I are called to dispense it, not because we are perfect, but we are called to do it. Not because we have a perfect Knowledge or Wisdom, but because we have the Faith. And Knowledge is earthly. It is not perfect, nor does it know everything. But Wisdom, comes to us and comes to you, by means of Faith. Faith in the things that we cannot see, but know that is real and True. Do not be afraid to correct and to speak your word when it is time to do so. God gave you a mouth to proclaim His Truth. God Gave you ears to Hear his Truth. And God gave you eyes to remind you that TRUTH does not always have to be visibly seen. But seen in the faith."

Fr. Hoffman was my college Chaplain. And was the priest to anoint me during my Confirmation into the Holy Catholic Church in 2007. And it was when he blessed me in oil, that I was awakened through the Evangelization of the HOLY SPIRIT.

~~

Ephesians 6:10-17
Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

My grandfather died four years ago. He was the best grandfather ever. I was really close to him even if he stayed in Jolo and I live in Bohol. I was already here in China when we got the news that he passed away. It was quite a shock to us because he just recovered and was very healthy that time. When i heard about his death, no tear ever came out .... and until now, i cannot shed a tear for him. I have not even mourned for his death... Is there something wrong with me?

There is nothing wrong. The important thing is that you coped with death. Different people cope with death in different ways. Many cry, many stay silent, many pray and accept it, there are many intricacies of how the mind deals and copes with death. As it is a complex issue; one that is studied.

The most important thing, Anna, is that you have dealt with it, or are dealing with it in your own way. Continue to be strong.

And He, through His faithfulness, has made His love clear to us in the Love of our Family.
And the Family Unit Itself.

The Lord exemplifies this through ACTION.
As Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of The Eternal Father,
And the WORD made FLESH, became an essential part of a family unit.
As a son of Mary and Joseph.
And as a brother to his Apostles.

The Life of Our Lord manifests the action and the importance of FAMILY.

It is so important and pivotal in that the LORD did not base himself above the Family Unit,
but rather, by coming down from Heaven to Earth in the Salvation of Man, became part of the Holy Family.
Sharing in our own humanity, and in the manifest of being a son.

:)

From everlasting to everlasting age. His Love is Faithful and Trustworthy.

The poem is so true... many a-times in our lives nahitabo jud ni. But we can't be sentimental all the way pod because in life, "hiram" (hinuwaman, lent) ra daw ta by God. God only lent us to our family, coz in heaven daw we become too busy to enjoy the face of God (huh!). For the Christian believer, somewhere in Scriptures Jesus also said, "My family: my mother, my brothers and sisters are those who hear the Word of God and act on it." While it's true (it's called hard reality I think) that when we're gone it's the family - blood relations especially, and others who are like family to us - who feel the greatest loss, but in due time, they too would soon forget us, and/or they start dying too... while the rest of the world goes on living. Maajo lang untag ala Jose Rizal pod ta (if we left enough good legacies) kay at least, for a time (not all the time) they will remember us - maybe from Grades 1 to 6, when kids still believe in fairy tales and/or dependent on what their parents and teachers say - until such time when they (the future young people, be it family or not) turn to teenage life and/or become college students... then balik napod sa sugod (vicious cycle)... like many, at the present time, they once again become engrossed with themselves only, their personal challenges and basically life all around them. Sad to say but it's true. Di na man gani motoo ni Jose Rizal & co. inig ka edaran na and what he stood for. Siguro maghuwat napod tag pila ka tuig - inig ka guwang2x napod nila - when they realized how much time had passed and took for granted. And that we need to teach those fairy tales and histories to guide us at least when our minds are still open to such things.  LoL. Sori jud kung naglibog mo but I hope I made sense. Call it my personal rumbling (not even an opinion, hahaha). I'm just really wondering what's ahead of us. We can only hope for something good, I guess!

Hubs: pareho diay ta I pour less into my work... but I don't have a family like you do!!! Bwahehehe!!!  ;D

What a very poignant and spiritual existentialist message, Father. "I'm just really wondering what's ahead of us. We can only hope for something good, I guess! "

And you are right, Pops. Mo agree ko nimo. We can only hope for the best, as we work and believe in the Promises of our Lord Jesus Christ.

"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus". That's Phillipians 4:19. Now notice, God has obligated Himself only to the extent of our needs. That would include food, clothing, shelter, companionship, love, and salvation thru Jesus Christ.

He has promised to supply every need we have.

F A M I L Y

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.

He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you."

We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.

While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,

"While dealing with a stranger,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."

By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tear s began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.

"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.

I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."

I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."
He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway."

I said, "Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

FAMILY
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company
that we are working for could easily replace us in
a matter of days.
But the family we left behind will feel the loss
for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselve s more
into work than into our own family,
an unwise investment indeed,
don't you think?
So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?
FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

Beautiful!

I love it. F A M I L Y (father and mother I Love You)

Amen, God bless our mothers and fathers. The Family and a strong united FAMILY is a blessing of the LORD!

God speaks to us about the importance of Family, indeed, in Holy Scripture:

“These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).

“And fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).

“Honor your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the Lord your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12).

“Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing in the Lord” (Colossians 3:20).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I remember an author who was asked to speak at a luncheon. During the meal, the president of the organization came up to the speaker and asked, "Are you ready to speak, or should we let them enjoy themselves for a while?"

I believe we can enjoy life and at the same time listen to a good speech or sermon. I also believe it is important that we live life to its fullest. We can have our cake and eat it too, but we must be prepared. And being prepared means that we are closely connected to a savior named Jesus Christ. With Christ in our hearts we will be prepared for life!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Jesus, keep me close to you, so that I won't stray from your salvation. In your name I pray, Amen.

In essence, we are told, "Be a Prepared Heart!"

The Scriptures say, “And Ezra prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.” (Ezra 7:10). This verse is actually a summary of Ezra’s life and purpose. He was determined to fully accept the Lord’s direction in life. This desire came from deep conviction and reverence for God. This led Ezra to seek out the Lord’s will in His revealed Word, the Scriptures.

Some complain that the Lord’s will is too difficult to understand. But others, like Ezra, have had no problem in understanding it. There is a whole list of just plain, regular folks in Rom. 16 who all understood it quite well. Timothy is said to have understood it from a child.

The fact is, Jesus said that some would never understand. But it was not because of a lack of ability but rather a lack of will. They have unprepared hearts. To understand, Jesus insisted that one must desire to have God in his or her life. He or she must be willing to open eyes, ears and heart.

The parable of the sower sowing seed is a case in point, well illustrating how important it is for us to prepare our hearts to understand and receive the words of Christ (Matt. 13:3-9; 18-23). One who is unwilling will often complain it is just too difficult to understand, but Jesus said, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15).

We left of last time in the reading of GENESIS; namely the beauty of Genesis is that it tells us, the readers and the faithful, of how the LORD created the World. The means of Creation and how it illustrates the Wisdom and Love of the Lord Our God. And His perfect Will throughout all Creation. And HIS perfection in the creation of man, whom was created in the very image of the LORD.

Genesis 1:27 declares to us, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."

Now, to all of you readers, my beloved brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, I would like to ask a question. Perhaps most of you have learned this already through your own personal study of Scripture, perhaps you have not, then I will encourage you to read more into Genesis (as we plan to cover it this week).

The question that I will ask and open to the floor to discussion and scriptural talk is this: "How did God create man and woman? From whence did woman come from, and what was the sole reason woman was created? Did God create woman for woman's sake or did He create woman for man? What was the name of man, and what was the name of woman?"

No one, especially myself, is claiming righteousness nor have I claimed to be righteous, but a sinner. That is why we study the Holy Bible, to better know ourselves and the teachings of our God.

That said, I will put all of this aside for the betterment and for the continued reading of Holy Scripture with all of you, my brothers and sisters.

That said, I will respond with a verse from Romans 3:23, 24
as we are all sinners before the Lord our God. "This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,  23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

No one is free from sin. No one is free from hypocrisy, no one, not I, not you, not Joe Schmoe. Let that be known. What we can do is to daily read and poignantly take in the Word of God. And to share the Word of God to those who would listen.

1. What were the military plans that Marcos had regarding the issue of Sabah?

2. How would you describe the Philippine Foreign Policy, during the Marcos Administration, in regards to the War in Vietnam?

3. There are claims that it was Marcos that created the NPA, what, if any, are the odds of this being true, or not?

4. Did the Visayas region benefit under the Marcos Administration, in terms of infrastructure growth? If so, how would it compare to the rest of the country?

5. Why does the current Philippine government choose to retain over 90 Republic Acts that were passed during the Marcos Administration? Why aren't they repealed or abolished?

Thank You.

Brothers and Sisters, be active in your daily Biblical Readings.

I would like to share with all of you readers of Scripture to what Mary Elizabeth Sperry wrote concerning this issue.

Listed here are 10 points for fruitful Scripture reading.

Bible reading is for Catholics. The Church encourages Catholics to make reading the Bible part of their daily prayer lives. Reading these inspired words, people grow deeper in their relationship with God and come to understand their place in the community God has called them to in himself.

Prayer is the beginning and the end. Reading the Bible is not like reading a novel or a history book. It should begin with a prayer asking the Holy Spirit to open our hearts and minds to the Word of God. Scripture reading should end with a prayer that this Word will bear fruit in our lives, helping us to become holier and more faithful people.

Get the whole story! When selecting a Bible, look for a Catholic edition. A Catholic edition will include the Church's complete list of sacred books along with introductions and notes for understanding the text. A Catholic edition will have an imprimatur notice on the back of the title page. An imprimatur indicates that the book is free of errors in Catholic doctrine.

The Bible isn't a book. It's a library. The Bible is a collection of 73 books written over the course of many centuries. The books include royal history, prophecy, poetry, challenging letters to struggling new faith communities, and believers' accounts of the preaching and passion of Jesus. Knowing the genre of the book you are reading will help you understand the literary tools the author is using and the meaning the author is trying to convey.

Know what the Bible is â€" and what it isn't. The Bible is the story of God's relationship with the people he has called to himself. It is not intended to be read as history text, a science book, or a political manifesto. In the Bible, God teaches us the truths that we need for the sake of our salvation.

The sum is greater than the parts. Read the Bible in context. What happens before and after â€" even in other books â€" helps us to understand the true meaning of the text.

The Old relates to the New. The Old Testament and the New Testament shed light on each other. While we read the Old Testament in light of the death and resurrection of Jesus, it has its own value as well. Together, these testaments help us to understand God's plan for human beings.

You do not read alone. By reading and reflecting on Sacred Scripture, Catholics join those faithful men and women who have taken God's Word to heart and put it into practice in their lives. We read the Bible within the tradition of the Church to benefit from the holiness and wisdom of all the faithful.

What is God saying to me? The Bible is not addressed only to long-dead people in a faraway land. It is addressed to each of us in our own unique situations. When we read, we need to understand what the text says and how the faithful have understood its meaning in the past. In light of this understanding, we then ask: What is God saying to me?

Reading isn't enough. If Scripture remains just words on a page, our work is not done. We need to meditate on the message and put it into action in our lives. Only then can the word be "living and effective."(Hebrews 4:12).

Thanks for your personal opinion.  This one is mine:

By the very nature of upheavals, some lives are sacrificed.  (“Revolution is like Saturn, it devours its own children.”  Die Revolution ist wie Saturn, sie frißt ihre eignen Kinder. - Danton’s Death, Act I, by Georg Büchner [1813–1837], German dramatist and revolutionary)

Marat and Robespierre abused their time in power by eliminating counterrevolutionaries, both real and imagined.  (Lucky us, Marcos and Imelda didn’t meet the fate of Romania’s Ceaucescu and his wife Elena.)  This dark chapter of the French Revolution and the succeeding wars do not necessarily negate what eventually became the current French republic.

As in the time of Marcos, not all poor remained poor.  Manny Villar passes himself off as the poor Tondo boy who made good and became very, very rich.  And stories of riches to rags never abate.  Some people are bound to be greedy, whether they’re politicians or not, Marcos’s time or not.

If Marcos stabilized the Republic, how come your family left such stability and settled in the US?

As for ‘plethoric masses’, I’m just curious about this phrase of yours.

Plethora – large or excessive amount or number
Masses – large but unspecified numbers or quantities

They seem to be one and the same.  (I understand here that by ‘mass’ you refer to people and not lumps.)

You did not answer my original question:
Has there really been change? The poor remain poor and the rich remain rich. And the greed of politicians continue to rule the day.

I highly suggest reading Bonner's, Waltzing With A Dictator: The Marcoses and The Making of American Policy (1988); Romulo's, Inside the Palace: The Rise and Fall of Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos (1987), and Gleek's, President Marcos and the Philippine Political Culture (1988).

Correction (to use your well-mannered term), Republic Acts are passed by a duly elected legislative body while promulgations are enactments, formally proclaiming a new statutory as in effect after it receives final approval.

With the executive (Marcos) making legislation (which would have been left to the legislative branch of government in keeping with the ideal of check and balance), the likes of you can certainly conclude that the man’s brilliance never dimmed.  (Although brilliance and inspired and honest leadership don't necessarily go hand in hand.)

Yes, those Republic Acts (or the Batas Pambansa, the name depending on the time of Marcos’s 21-year administration) are still in use, like the independence of Siquijor as a province or the implementation of the metric system in the country.

In the end, over 90 Republic Acts are still maintained and utilized to this day.

Reply:

This is a given argument. Of course he ruled by decree because there was no congress. He was the Martial Law administrator.

Islander:

Political prisoners are routinely tortured by the military. "Disappearances" and murders of suspected political activists are common, with over 500 cases being recorded for the period 1975-80.  Meanwhile, inflation and unemployment rise while already low living standards drop.

Reply:

There was not a single case of torture... if there was who was the accuse military personnel. This issue is part of the hate campaign against Marcos. Those who disappeared or presume to be murdered were part of the campaign against the insurgency.

Islander:

Is.:  true, true.  but:

Martial law initially brings stability and an economic turnaround but with the costs of reduced social freedoms and increasing corruption.  Limited land reforms are introduced but prove ineffective.  Manufacturing and business enterprises
are nationalized or handed to Marcos's cronies or relatives.  Profits are siphoned off for personal enrichment and mismanagement is rife.

Reply:

You are admitting to this fact. This is true also in other countries who were able to sustain authoritarian regimes that in exchange for a fast economic recovery you have to surrender your freedom temporarily.

Islander:

Is.:  why add some more when these ‘specialty hospitals’, as you call them, are already there?  more so when until now our country is paying for the loans made to finance those structures?  isn’t it more commonsensical to just fully utilize what are already existing rather than borrow some more from foreign creditors and deplete the country’s coffers some more, the way the marcoses did to fund their grandiose show windows?  by the way, the term “edifice complex” bestowed on
imelda was not for nothing.

Reply:

If they cannot add some more then they should put extensions to some of those hospitals. Some of these hospitals are overcrowded. Patients are already in the corridors especially in the Heart Center.

Islander:

Is.:  filipino migration for jobs abroad started in 1906.  the number increased greatly in the 1960s.  we had a young new president then on whom our country pinned so much hopes.  during his tenure of 21 years, the country’s foreign debts ballooned and the economy worsened.  this was when filipinos began their job diaspora in droves.  the trend hasn’t stopped decades after as the country hasn’t gotten out of the morass of those foreign debts.

Reply:

I agree... there were already Filipino workers went to Hawaii and California as farmers but it was not said that their earnings were to help the economy of the Philippines. The late Blas Ople the minister of labor during the time of Marcos did not open the Middle East for Filipino laborers to help the economy of the Philippines but to give more employment to the Filipinos.

After Marcos because of their campaign of hatred many investments were closed especially the EPZA in Morong, Bataan. Ford Australia who established spare parts manufacturing in the Philippines transferred to Malaysia. Volkwagen cars was closed. Mattel was sabotaged by the labor union and closed shop. Filipino workers who lost their jobs looked for jobs abroad. And for the first time Filipinos were to accept petty jobs as domestic helpers in Bahrain, Kuwait, saudi Arabia, Singapore and Hongkong. Our women because of poverty... and mind you it is happening today as we speak; they accept sleazy jobs as stripteasers and entertainers/cum prostitutes.

And our government hailed them as heroes for sending dollar remittances to the country helping the economy grows.

===================================================
Statements below are issues I brought up for you to comment.

But you comment on the WB conditionalities of borrower country

like the Philippines. Anyway I'll try to answer those issues

fro Robin Broad and John Cavanagh.
==================================================
11.  WN:  Marcos signed PD's that were favorable for foreign investors which is why there were many export processing zones that were established in our country... Mactan in Cebu, Morong in Bataan and Baguio city.Marcos caused the establishment of Offshore-Banking System in the Philippines thus upgrading the banking system and invite foreign banks to do business in the Philippines under certain incentives and guarantees.

There is no more clamor for his return, he is dead already but there are political sounds echoeing for the return of Marcos parliamentary form of government through charter change.[cha-cha] According to a study in UP the Marcos decrees and edicts that are deemed beneficial to the Filipino people are the OPSF or the law subsidizing the price of oil and the Price Control Law through the Price Stabilization Council which control the price of prime commodity in the market.

===================================================

Islander:

Is.:  yes, as dictated by the world bank and the international monetary fund (IMF) as preconditions for loans.  thus:“Companies importing capital goods could expect approval of foreign loans only if their production processes were geared to exports, decreed the Central Bank.” (Robin Broad and John Cavanagh, Unequal Alliance, University of California Press, 1987)

Reply:

When your a borrower your option is to agree to the conditions of the lender. Why? If your the owner of a bank are you not going to put conditionalities to whoever is going to borrow

money?

Islander:

and this says it all:

As opportunities for profit in the Third World dwindled, transnational banks and corporations refocused their sights back on the developed world.  Four years as the lead international institution in this era of debt crisis management left the IMF almost universally despised across the Southâ€"and nearly broke.  So, the next heir to the international debt and development management throne was anointed: the World Bank, which (with U.S. government blessing) chose structural adjustment of the Philippine

variety as its cure-all.

***
The model, Philippines, having been opened up to the world

economy in new and expanded ways in the early 1980s through

the structural adjustment process, fared among the worst of

the debtor nations. Internal corruption and cronyism combined

with collapsing export earnings to plunge the country into

deep economic and then political crisis.  Only those Filipinos

who managed to salt dollars away abroad through secret and

often illegal capital flight seemed able to avoid the worst of

this all-encompassing crisis.

***
Indeed, in many respects, the one relic of value that a

fleeing Ferdinand Marcos left his successor was a negative

example: a two-decade blueprint for guaranteed economic

disaster. There was much to learn from studying Marcos's

mistakes.  For in the failure of Marcos, the World Bank, and

the IMF lay important lessons that might be applied to another

approach to developmentâ€"one placing people before the market.

(Robin Broad and John Cavanagh, Unequal Alliance, University

of California Press, 1987; emphasis mine)

Reply:

I cannot agree more the opinion of Robin Broad and her husband

than to say that she, her husband and Walden Bello are not

economist in the real sense but they engaged themselves in

economic politics and as critic of the IMF and the WB. Since

she and her husband's opinion are in harmony with Walden Bello

who is a known leftist professor at UP I can say clearly they

are spinning a leftist bias opinion. Her aim is not for

scholastic records but to destabilize and to put down

conservative governments. Which is why if there is any

scholastic study she had for the Philippines I think it is not

acceptable from the point of view of the Makati Business Club.

Her opinion that; "Ferdinand Marcos left his successor was a

negative example: a two-decade blueprint for guaranteed

economic disaster"... is contradictory to her first statement.

She admits that; "the Philippines is WB/IMF model having been

opened up to the world economy in new and expanded ways in the

early 1980s".... but "fared among the worst of the debtor

nations." Where are her proof?

Islander:

Is.:   the 1976 sixth amendment to the 1973 constitution

authorized the chief executive to legislate, as follows:

“Whenever in the judgment of the President there exists a

grave emergency or a threat or imminence thereof, or whenever

the Interim Batasang Pambansa or the regular National Assembly

fails or is unable to act adequately on any matter for any

reason that in his judgment requires immediate action, he may,

in order to meet the exigency, issue the necessary decrees,

orders or letters of instructions, which shall form part of

the law of the land.”

i’m curious as to what’s french and british about it.  (n.b.:

the british government is not authoritarian.)

Reply:

The Philippine government during Marcos copied the French

model which has a strong president, like Marcos himself who

can legislate. So he is a strong president. While Amendment

no. 6 is similar to the British law that gives Reserve Power

to the monarch of England. In case of instability in the

British parliament the monarch can this Reserve Power. It is

like the declaration of Martial Law in the US. The British

system came from or it originated from an authoritarian

regime.

Islander:

Is.  someone who shouts ‘fire’ in a movie house even if

there’s no fire invites the penalty of arresto menor for

public disturbance and, depending on the damage of his act,

risks charges ranging from misdemeanor to felony, which means

no one is free to shout a false alarm.

Reply:

Correct... that person who shouted "fire" committed a crime.

You got the literal interpretation. But when a journalist is

shouting in the newspaper that his government is on fire, and

politicians are thieves without any supporting evidence he is

free in our system. But in Australia, Britain and Singapore he

will go to jail.

Island:

any journalist worth his salt will tell us that he only

reports what is there.  journalists are news

reporters/broadcasters/writers, not newsmakers.  whether the

record of killed journalists proves that freedom of the press

is exercised in our country or not depends on one’s

perspective.  the “killers” kill because they believe they’re

justified to silence journalists forever; journalists believe

they’re exercising responsible reporting (what journalist

would say he isn’t?) in their risky profession in which their

lives may just be sacrificed.  that’s perspective.

those unfortunate journalists in the ampatuan massacre were

killed not because they were primarily journalists, i suppose,

but because they were in the line of fire in a deadly

political rivalry where witnesses to the crime were considered

a bane and had to be silenced forever.  as a parallel, most of

the women in that massacre were wives.  there are no

statistics for wives killed; there are for journalists.

Reply:

Journalists worth his salt in our country are a rare specimen.

I believe they are more corrupt than the politicians because

nobody is watching them. The high record of journalists killed

in our country proved that they are too aggressive to write

opinions that are ofensive to somebody. In our country freedom

of the press is to offend. If a journalist is a hard hitter he

should have all the evidences to support all the issues he

brought up. He is not free to lie.

Islander:

i repeat, there was no freedom of the press during martial

law.

Reply:

Did I not say in my previous opinion that during Martial Law

the press was regulated just like the present system in

Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia. Most of these

countries have a press tribunal that any complain about

irresponsible reporting is investigated.

Islander:

Is.:  the ouster of one president who had allegedly plundered

the country’s treasury does not constitute an absence of the

rule of law.

it seems that after marcos, accusations of plunder against

someone sitting in the highest office of the land is enough to

mobilize large crowds for a mass protest.

(mobocracy â€" mob rule or ochlocracy; a government by mob or a

mass of people)

unlikeable as they may seem, the administration that took over

after erap’s ouster wasn’t the mass of people.  the mass of

people went home and went on with their lives.

Reply:

A government of mob is like the Mafia. They know only about

chaos and violence. If you believe in mobocracy then what can

I do.

Island:

Is.:  would that our “onion skin” be shed off simply by

emulating the british system and those of other countries that

you’ve mentioned.  i can’t imagine us valuing our freedom less

than the americans, though.  let’s take both of us; we are

expressing our opinions and are free to do so, as we are doing

it now in tb.  will we be killed?

Reply:

Who will kill us when we are not abusing our freedom?

Islander:

today’s monarchies in the countries you’ve mentioned are

ceremonial heads of state.  the running of their government is

left to parliament, with the prime minister as head.  their

governments remain democracies, not monarchies.

Reply:

Not in England.

Islander:

Is.:  there’s no difference, really.  our own right of

suffrage is also our duty, as it is in the u.s.  (for every

right, we have a concomitant responsibility.)  and there’s no

such law, anywhere, that only the king has the right, as you

say.  as for the “people’s right to freedom of speech” being

“unabridged by law in the US and the Philippines”, surely, you

must have heard of libel cases.  that’s one of the ways our

laws and that of the u.s. “abridge” freedom of speech.

Reply:

That is if you are talking about our right and in the US...it

is a duty in your own interpretation but I am differentiating

suffrage as a duty in Australia and England and suffrage in

the Philippines and the US. In libel it is not abridging the

press because libel is crime again a person's reputation and

honor.

You did not get my point. England with an unwritten

constitution has no "bill of rights" in its originality. The

only person in the constitution who has the right is the king.

All other people are subjects to the king. But today in modern

times parliament legislates the right of the people. In it is

not constitutional but also legislated.

Islander:

british colonies or dependencies of those colonies.  malaysia

is also a member.  so are rwanda and zimbabwe.  the latter,

currently with a runaway inflation, has dictator robert

mugabe.

everyone can criticize the monarch in england (the anti-

monarchists are alive and well and vocal), and all laws

anywhere in the civilized world remain unless otherwise

reversed or amended through a legislative process.

Reply:

In my knowledge about Australia in 1970 it was reported on TV

that the monarch of England is the monarch of Australia. In

the 90's again on the news on ABS-CBN it was reported that

Australia was having a referendum to retain the monarch of

England or become a republic. The people voted to retain the

monarch, therefore I believe that the monarch of England is

the monarch of Australia.

The anti monarchy in England can criticize the monarch but not

in the press. I think there is a difference between freedom of

speech and freedom of the press in England.

==============================================================

My opinion which says that; "The late Princess Diana's

criticism of the monarchy when she was alive is a crime of

treason punishable by beheading." This statement is taken out

of context.

that calls for disbelief.

Reply:

It was easy for the anti Erap to fool the people. The fact

that almost all media outlets in Manila demonized Erap the

more the people were fooled.

Islander:

yes, erap was democratically elected, but when he was

perceived (please note that in politics, perception is

everything) to have abused his powers, the masses spoke.

that’s democracy of the streets, whether we like it or not.

Reply:

Not perceived by the people but perceived by media. The media

will always say that their opinion is the opinion of the

people. It is not true. The people spoke in an election. But

some power hungry politicians perceived that the election is

still 4 years long wait. For Filipino politicians one week is

already a long wait for the next election. That is how greedy

they are.

Islander:

Is.:  granting that marcos was responsible for such miracles,

what happens then to the other two factors, the law of supply

and demand and the vagaries of weather?  the best of policies

would be useless in this case if there’s no rice to export

because there are more mouths to feed now or that production

is damaged because of some force majeure.  by the way,

smuggling exists at all times in any country, martial law or

not, by different smugglers, and will continue to exist for as

long as people give vent to their greed.

currently, the term had also come to mean kleptocratic

governments (i.e. those in positions of power use it to

maximize their own gains) and the legislature is a mere rubber

stamp.  in short, a failed state.

Reply:

You granted that Marcos was able to export rice was a miracle.

So the two other factors that were favorable to Marcos were

also miracles. Kleptocracy... to mean that the Marcos regime

depends also in your perspective viewpoint. Cory and her

kamag-anak Inc. are not keptocrats because you believe them

better than Marcos. With only 6 years in power, with so many

disruption of coupd'etats her kamag-anak were able to build

houses in Green Valley and Antipolo, Rizal. Those who were

attached to the Sumulongs who have no business of any kind

before Cory's term in office, became bigtime instant

businessmen during the Cory administration. I should know

because I am living in Antipolo.

Islander:

2007 - In September the Transparency International estimate of

the amount embezzled by Marcos is quoted in a report by the

Stolen Assets Recovery Initiative, a joint venture of the

World Bank and the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime.

According to the report, “The channels whereby the money was

allegedly stolen were diverse, including the takeover of

private companies; creation of monopolies for sugar, coconuts,

shipping, construction, and the media; fraudulent government

loans; bribes from companies; and skimming off foreign loans

and raiding the public treasury. ”

Reply:

Did they prove that Marcos stole the money. He was already

charged of corruption together with Westinghouse Inc. but they

were acquited. Imelda was charged in NY with the RICO case but

was acquited. She was charged in the Philippines of graft but

the SC found her innocent. Everything had been thrown to them

including the kitchen sink. If they are guilty they should be

jailed. And now Bongbong is fast approaching to become another

Marcos in government. Imelda will be singing "Happy Days are

Again".

Islander:

Is.:  and marcos was not a usurper? Please note:

1971 - At a constitutional convention opposition delegates

introduce a provision to prevent Marcos from remaining as head

of state or government once his second term as president has

expired.  Marcos succeeds in having the ban overturned the

following year.

1972 - Using the excuse of an alleged assassination attempt

against Defence Minister Juan Ponce Enrile, Marcos declares

martial law on 21 September, promising to eliminate poverty

and injustice and create a "new society."  It is later

revealed that the assassination attempt had been staged by the

military.

Reply:

Marcos was not an usurper because what he did was through the

workings of the law. Martial Law is legal. It's in the

constitution.

The 1971 concon is irrelevant because it was overtaken by the

declaration of Martial Law. Just imagine the whole concon

delegates were convinced by Marcos to sign the new charter

believing that they will become interim members of the new

parliament.

Enrile's alibi that the attempt on his life was staged as a prelude to Martial Law is unbelievable. He said this during

his rebellion against Marcos when he was looking for allies in

Cory and Cardinal Sin, because his life again is in danger. He

branded Imelda a "kaskasera" and he did look into himself who is also a "kaskasero".

Where can we read the word purgatory in the bible, is it true that there´s a purgatory as what the catholic claims, that the soul will go to this place to purify those who die but still imperfectly purified.

His question was addressed with the following answer:

God Bless Your Question, Vhinz.
First let me thank you, brother, for joining our conversation and discussion.
The question that you ask was asked because the Holy Spirit, who lives within your body (as our bodies are the Temples of the Holy Spirit) directed you to this discussion to have a better / firmer grasp in the concept of Salvation and the means to Salvation. So I want to thank you for 2 things:
1. Your joining our faithful discussion here
2. Your question regarding Salvation, and specifically on the concept of Purgatory.

That said, Let us Talk. :)

But before we discuss this, let us usher a prayer for the Holy Spirit to OPEN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS to accept and be directed by His Instructions. To Understand Effectively and Faithfully: Lord, guide us our hearts and minds to bear and understand the things that we wish to learn, in faith and assurance that you will provide for our needs in this holy venture. We ask This in Your Name, Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God The Father. God The Holy Spirit open our hearts. In Jesus Name. Amen.

The Roman Catholic Church teaches us , brothers and sisters, that :
“There is a purgatory, and the souls there detained are assisted by the suffrages of the faithful, but especially by the most acceptable sacrifice of the altar” (Promulgation Council of Trent).

And it was in the Council of Trent that all Biblical passages and books were augmented and united under one book. So by authority of the Lord God that was placed in the hands of the Early Church Fathers, compiled the Holy Bible in its Complete Form. And with it, the addressing that there indeed is a state of Purgatory. By Authority and Legitimacy that the Church claims from Jesus Christ, Alone, who placed it on the shoulders of the Church by Apostolic Succession of Peter's Chair.

This dogmatic definition contains 3 points of faith that all Catholics are required to believe:

1. There is a purgatory

2. After death, souls suffer there for their sins

3. The living can extend assistance to such souls

---

There is a purgatory

Forgiveness of sin in the next â€" Matthew 12:32

“Under the earth” â€" Revelations 5:2-3; Philippians 2:10

After death, souls suffer there for their sins

“You will not come out of it till you pay the last penny” â€" Matthew 5:26

The living can extend assistance to such souls

Restrain not grace from the dead â€" Ecclesiasticus (Sirach) 7:37

See: Ruth 1:8

Offerings/Sacrifice for the dead

2 Maccabees 12:38-36

“And making a gathering, he sent twelve thousand drachms of silver to Jerusalem for sacrifice to be offered for the sins of the dead, thinking well and religiously concerning the resurrection” (2 Maccabees 12:43, Douay-Rheims Bible).

Fasting for the for the dead

1 Samuel 31:13;

1 Chronicles 10:12

2 Samuel 1:12

Prayer for the dead

2 Maccabees 12:44-46

Understanding Purgatory:

1. Understanding the doctrine of purgatory demands knowing the nature/attributes of God:

God is Holy (Habakkuk 1:13; Isaiah 6:3; Revelations 4:8; Leviticus 11:44

God is Just (1 John 1:9; Revelations 15:3)

God is Merciful (Psalm 116, Lamentations 3:22, Psalm 103:8 )

See: Ruth 2:20

God is Love (1 John 4:8, 16)

2. Understanding the doctrine of purgatory demands a proper understanding of the concept of sin:

Gradation (degrees) of sin

Mortal Sin vs. Venial Sin (1 John 5:16-17, NRSV)

Quote from: Lorenzo on March 11, 2010, 02:17:40 AM
What Does Purgatory Really Mean?

HOPE!

It means what it has always meant: hope! The good news of the gospel was proclaimed long ago by Jesus:

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
(Luke 4:18-19).

Purgatory is the assurance that there will, in the end, be absolutely nothing to dim the mirror of our lives from reflecting the glory of God. We, who have been captive to sin for so long, will be released. Moreover, as sharers in the life of Christ, we have an extraordinary promise from him. For he tells us, "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father." (John 14:12). In other words, we not only receive grace from him, we do his works of grace with him, for we are "fellow workers" with Christ (1 Corinthians 3:9). This means (among other things) that, as he prays for us, so we can pray for one another with his power and authority. And such prayers can be made not only for the living, but for the dead as well. We can, therefore, help those in Purgatory who are still being purified, just as we can help those on earth-by our prayers and offerings of love, especially in the mass. For, as Paul tells us, "we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another" (Romans 12:5). That unity with God and with each other is not severed by death. Therefore, we can continue to pray for those who have died with the hope of Christ that our prayers will be of real help to them as we "bear one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). It's all there in Scripture.
