The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Manay,

During my 1st year of Medicine, I was lonely always. There were times when i went to the anatomy lab with my partner to review for lab practicals and we would stay in the lab for hours on end, till the dead of night. It was really hard being so far away from home and the stresses of academic life, and dealing with the smell of formalyn. My lab partner would tap my shoulder whenever it would be 2 am to remind me that we needed to go home to sleep, lol, since class was at 8am every morning.

Luuya pood mi, the thing that i realized tho was how i was really homesick the first month of 1st year medicine. Maka mingaw pood ta sa sound of our parents' voices and the laughter of my siblings.

Strength through difficulties. That is what I Learned.

BBC

Just under half of us have felt depressed because we have felt alone, says a report. But not everyone who is alone is sad about it, so what is the difference between being lonely and being a loner?
Young or old, male or female, rich or poor, it doesn't matter - loneliness is indiscriminate.
Loneliness is not about being physically alone, it's about a person's individual experience of isolation and how they evaluate it, says the MHF. A loner gets pleasure and satisfaction from solitude, a lonely person doesn't.

While human beings are sociable animals by nature, personalities vary and at the opposite ends of the spectrum are extroverts and introverts.

"For an extrovert it is all about seeking stimulation from other people but an introvert's replenishment comes from solitude," says psychologist Ros Taylor.

"A loner can be perfectly content with their own company, while being alone will make another person utterly miserable."

Professor Jenny de Jong-Gierveld defines loneliness as an "unpleasant or inadmissible" lack of certain relationships in your life. Essentially, you can be surrounded by friends but still feel lonely because you aren't emotionally intimate with any of them.

Most of us experience loneliness at some time, but what makes it harmful is when "it settles in long enough to create a persistent, self-reinforcing loop of negative thoughts, sensations and behaviours", says American psychologist John Cacioppo.

"You can't go through life not interacting with anyone, you have to talk and deal with a certain amount of people to function in everyday life. You need to know how to do this appropriately and successfully."

So while it is just as natural to enjoy solitude as it is to feel lonely, like many other things in life it's is all about moderation.

don't you believe in love at first sight?
- i don't believe it. it can be an attraction that can lead to something that can grow deeper..and that's when i call it love.  ;D

to answer lorenzo...
first date as in no friendship before or no meeting beforehand? if this is the case, then i guess the "other" brain of a man will function at this moment.  :)

I agree with you, Keih, especially on the first date. For me lang, the first date is when the man and woman is just beginning to know each other. Early phase pa ba.

Love comes after later, when the truth about each other fully is disclosed. And acceptance and adoration is observed between the two people.

Sometimes, we men have to control the urges of the 'second brain'. :P

Quote from: Michael Ligalig on March 18, 2008, 08:16:13 AM
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. —Genesis 1:1

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. No light. No sky. No land. It’s incomprehensible to our finite thinking—the barren nothingness that existed before Genesis 1:1.

Then suddenly, through the work of the Almighty, God supplanted nothingness with “the heavens and the earth.” The divine hand reached through the void and produced a place, a world, a universe. Through the magnificent convergence of the workings of the Godhead—with the Son enacting the will of the Father as the Agent of creation, and the Holy Spirit as the hovering Presence—nothing became something. History began its long march toward today.

The first verse of Genesis provides us with sufficient concepts to contemplate for a lifetime. That introductory statement speaks of enough glory, enough majesty, enough awe to leave us speechless before God. Just as today we would have no life, no breath, no existence without His sustaining action, neither would we have the cosmos without His mighty act at the moment of creation.

In awe we wonder what went on before “the beginning.” With breathless praise we marvel at the words “God created the heavens and the earth.” We read—and we stand in adoration. “Nothing” has never been so fascinating!  — Dave Branon - www.rbc.org

I haven't seen a Sri Lankan Resto yet, Houston should have one of those. I'll go search for one...hehehe ! thanks !

hahahaha! Just tell your hubby to bring bismuth with him whenever he goes to a hot resto with you. I took my gf to a nice Italian restaurant, and requested we go to an Indian resto, pero she is not so fond of hot food. She eats my Filipino food that I cook but i have to tone down the spice (i have amalgamated indian w/ filipino cuisine by adding masala and curry in my adobo) hahaha! Her palate is strictly very Illonga. As in she loves sabaw and humba. mmmmm.

My father once said to me and reminded me (as my father has many friends in different economic levels; it illustrates his open-mindedness and principle):

"It is better to be friends with a poor man who is brutally honest, and loyal to you, than to be friends with a rich man who has a tongue that is unreliable. Do not be friends with snakes in high places. Your friends reflect upon you."

I have held his advice quite sternly.
#31752
In regards to friends who ask for money, that is no problem. I have some friends who borrowed money from me during college and did not pay back because of financial situations. No problem. Money is money, its materialistic and does not matter. I have a friend who did admit to not being able to pay me back for the $200 he owed me, i did not count it. A friend in need is a friend indeed. We are good friends to this day, he is in his 2nd year of Law School. To this day, he offers to pay me back, but i deny it. No need. His friendship to me is worth more than 2 hundred dollars. A friend like that is very hard to come by.

He spent 2 years of his life in the Americorp program; volunteering to rebuild homes in the south, and is a very active individual in church life.

Truly a man of principle, and a good man at that. He is poor and proud to be poor, and very honest.
#31753
I cannot stand back talkers, i have never associated myself with people that do so openly and so disdainly. It illustrates their character, and to be honest, i would never suffer friendship with those kind of people.

Manay that is a sign of a man who really loves a person. When a man can dish the intricacies of a relationship, that means he is invested in it for long term. If he complements you and you complement him, if you feel happy with him and he with you, then it is a good match.
You are happy, that is what matters. In fact, if a man will bail out on his partner for fear of the 'stonewalling' then he really was not meant to be with you. The trait of a good partner, lover, is his patience. It illustrates his devotion.

Wishing you the best. Be happy!

Yes, yes, my dear. Don't ever try to starve yourself by not eating because we often will binge afterwards, and when we starve ourselves, we limit our metabolism and when we do binge, the body is unable to metabolize the food quickly enough...and thus, is stored as fat.

Its good to eat multiple times a day, but eat small bites. This way, by doing this we keep the metabolism in order.

Hey good luck Anna! Btw, you look great!

Lets keep it up! Gotta push each other in this diet.

I went with a group of my friends to a national park in the desert. Post-Exam Celebration.
We rented a pick up truck and it was so hot so a group of us guys decided to strip and cover our heads to prevent sun burns (on our heads, LOL). So we were posing and yelling. Concerned state park troopers asked if we were 'muslim' and why we were wearing turbans. LOL!

Oh man. They thought we were terrorists. We had to explain the reasoning for our 'turbans' since it was 90+ degs farenheit outside. They let us go with a warning. LOL.

Sister Elsie,

I want to share this with you. We are with you, through this....

"St. Jude, you witnessed the healing power of our Lord Jesus. You saw his compassion for the sick and dying. You yourself touched the sick, shared the sorrows of the mournful, and encouraged the despairing. You received this authority and healing power to work wonders, to cure the incurable, to make people whole. We ask you to intercede with our brother, Jesus, to send his saving grace to heal the sickness and suffering of _________________________________, to uplift his/her despondent spirits, and to instill hope in his/her hearts. Amen."

"St. Jude, through prayer you praised God for the wonderful works of Jesus. You asked God for the strength to meet the challenges of your apostolate. You put your trust in God's mercy, believing firmly that God loved you and understood your joys and sorrows, your hopes and fears, and your triumphs and failures. You understood that nothing is impossible for God. I ask you to pray for me now before the Most High so that I too might be filled with God's saving power, understand God's will for me and faithfully place myself in God's loving hands."

"St. Jude, you remained faithful to our Lord, even unto death. You gave your life so that others might live. You endured physical pain and emotional abandonment. But you gladly joined your sufferings to those of our Savior, Jesus, and thus shared in the redemption of the world. I ask you now to intercede with our brother, Jesus Christ on my behalf, so that I too can find strength in the face of my suffering.  Help me to trust in God and put my life in his hands.

Father God,

For those who are sick and are praying for health. Return to them, Lord, their strength and give them the security, and help them in whatever they ask of you. Be it in health, financial requirements, familial stability, and all that is needed for their complete recovery. LORD, i make a simple plea for my friend who is sickly right now and is fighting Lupus. Please remember her Lord.

Let her remember, Father God, that she is precious to you.

Thank you for your help in everything, Lord. Help her and her family...continuously....I ask this in Your Son Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Father God,

Protect and guide my loved ones and good friends from all evil thoughts and the snares of those who talk ill. Protect them from the crowns of their heads to the soles of their feet. Deliver them, LORD, as you delivered your Children Israel from the bondage of Egypt. Protect and guide my relatives , Father God who are old, ailing, sickly, and my friends who are sickly who need and require your Healing Power. May the Spirit of your Grace be upon them, to rescue them from all that would hurt them.

I ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ who is Lord.

Amen.

Dearest Father,

Give me the strength to see the ills of patients, Give me mental clarity to understand and comprehend the most difficult of concepts, despite my weaknesses. Fill within me, Father God, with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, who supersedes all understanding and wisdom, the source of all Wisdom. Father God, guide my steps. Let my victory be to the Glory of you and your Son, Jesus Christ.

For Yours is the Glory, Honor, Majesty, and Praise.
From Everlasting to Everlasting.

Amen.

Hey Voda, nice to see you here. How is the slenda exercise manual like?

I just woke up and had 4 slices of watermelon, and had a short cycle run. 30 minutes.
I should get back later tonight for a late cycle by the trail.

Note; its best to have snacks in between than have large meals, okay if you snack here and there. What ive been doing as of late is snacking mostly on fruits and drink alot of water.

Keep it up!

A frog skims the waters
with petals as his footstool
The sun shines down his crown
green with red streaks that beat down

The frog prince that rules over his domain
to frolick by rivers waters
to the envy and heron's disdain

Oh but frog prince cares not
for he lives in harmony
with flies here and there
he fertilizes eggs with no need of alimony
oh what testimony

A las, the life of a frog prince

On light reverie
A light kiss good bye
An eye looks at you
Trying not to cry

You embrace me tightly
fingers clenched on my back
My soul entrenched quenched
For i revel in this delight.

A kiss good bye
A kiss again.
As I repeated this the day to end
For lover separated for more time on wait
Where does heart abide but in thy return.

So i wait on and wait on,
for your return, dearest woman of my loving heart.
For your hand I call and claim,
to wed and to never part.

I love you today,
I love you tomorrow.
And I pray to God I will love you for always.

Poems and Poets / To The Flowers of Heidelberg

Go to my country, go, O foreign flowers,
sown by the traveler along the road,
and under that blue heaven
that watches over my loved ones,
recount the devotion
the pilgrim nurses for his native sod!
Go and say  say that when dawn
opened your chalices for the first time
beside the icy Neckar,
you saw him silent beside you,
thinking of her constant vernal clime.
Say that when dawn
which steals your aroma
was whispering playful love songs to your young
sweet petals, he, too, murmured
canticles of love in his native tongue;
that in the morning when the sun first traces
the topmost peak of Koenigssthul in gold
and with a mild warmth raises
to life again the valley, the glade, the forest,
he hails that sun, still in its dawning,
that in his country in full zenith blazes.
And tell of that day
when he collected you along the way
among the ruins of a feudal castle,
on the banks of the Neckar, or in a forest nook.
Recount the words he said
as, with great care,
between the pages of a worn-out book
he pressed the flexible petals that he took.

Carry, carry, O flowers,
my love to my loved ones,
peace to my country and its fecund loam,
faith to its men and virtue to its women,
health to the gracious beings
that dwell within the sacred paternal home.

When you reach that shore,
deposit the kiss I gave you
on the wings of the wind above
that with the wind it may rove
and I may kiss all that I worship, honor and love!

But O you will arrive there, flowers,
and you will keep perhaps your vivid hues;
but far from your native heroic earth
to which you owe your life and worth,
your fragrances you will lose!
For fragrance is a spirit that never can forsake
and never forgets the sky that saw its birth.
