I want to be cremated, I cant imagine my body eaten by worms. I love taking care of my body only in the end eaten by worms. That is not right. Besides, I don't want a regular burial where there is a viewing. I can't trust enough the funeral parlor to put my favorite mineral make-up.. I hate to say this but I don't want people on my final hours to remember me as an ugly corpse. (Heheheheehhehe)

Good points, Wolf.

My friend JR Louvre, please pray for him..he is in major seminary now. He gave up a life as a physicist, physical fatherhood, and a family, for one of spiritual fatherhood.

He simply answered YES. On his senior year of college.

I keep in contact with him. This year is very hard kono. Because this is the Year for Priests.

Lorenzo means " Imperial Crown" ; it is derived from the Latin form: Laurel, which is the crown worn by Roman Emperors.

It has a variant forms: Laurence, Loren, Laurentius, Lorenso, Lawrence.

Sometimes, I have thoughts how it would be like to just leave everything. And join the seminary.

The second calling in my heart is priesthood. That is always ringing in my ear.

I get scared, I admit.

Usually on time; pero, if wala koy tulug or too much study, i will be very late.

One time, Mike, i stayed up for 3 days to study for medical exams. And i foolishly tried to take a quick "50 minute nap". That nap turned into 3 hours. Thank Goodness for my 5 alarms that woke me up for the exam.

When i have time, i like to write poems (am an amateur), and recently trying to write in Binisaya . When I joined Tubag Bohol Dot Com 3 years ago, I was very poor in my bolanon proficiency, and these last 3 years have allowed me to perfect my tonation, and my understanding as well as 'slang terms' of Bolanon.

The first time I ever read a balak was from Michael Ligalig's poems in Tubag Bohol Dot Com.
The inspiration in the fact that i did not know what some of the words meant, made me research the words, and find out more about the language. My parents once asked me, "Why are you so interested as of late in Bisaya?"
I smirked and remarked, "Tubag Bohol."

They smiled.

Aside from a struggling student, I like to jot down words in my journals, attempt (poor) at poetry, and if i have time, i go cycling.

I am weird when it comes to spending.

It hurts to spend on myself so much; pero for others, I will get the good stuff (sale or mo bargain ta).

I think I get this trait from my father. Who instilled in me a fiscal conservative thinking. "Do not spend more than your means."

Or he said to me once,
"Don't have wine tastes with beer pockets. If you have wine tastes, have wine pockets."

It hit the core.

The principle that I try to live by is the 5th commandment. “Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”

I am nothing without my parents and their sacrifices for me and my siblings. They are the source, and they are the physical example of goodness to me in this life. Their presence in my life, is the presence of God in my life. A reminder to me that He Loves me.

I was reading this verse in Malachi and Mark. And it is so beautiful to see that Jesus the Christ's message to us completes and complements His Word in the Old Testament.

The Lord tells us in the Old Testament that he commands us to tithe 10%, but he makes it clear in New Testament (in Luke and as well as in Mark) that he also is considerant of our own economic woes. And Blesses those who are poor, yet also give and share their blessings.

As in the case of the old woman widow who gave only 2 mites (equivalent to 2 pennies), actually gave more than the rich. Because the old woman gave all her livelihood, while the rich gave only part of their abundance. So the Law of Blessing comes back. So as the woman gave to the Lord (all she had), so will the Lord, in his Promise to us as is said in Malachi, He will bless her abundantly and release the flood gates of heaven on her..

Moral: The LORD THY GOD loves a happy giver...:)

Bless you sister! We give what we can even if we are poor.

I was reminded by your post of what Jesus told us about the poor woman who gave her donation to the Church:

And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.  And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.  And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:  For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

-Mark 12:41-44

God bless you sister!
Jesus tells us that we should put our Faith into action. Like this poor old widow woman.

Bless you...~~

Question and Answer / Re: Do you Tithe to Church?
June 08, 2010, 11:41:56 PM
I know of a friend who tithes 10% what he earns, every month. The first fruits he tithes to the Church. This man, who graduated my year, has been blessed with a good profession, has been promoted only after 2 years as a Financial Analyst at Prudential Life Inc. 10% of first fruits.

I asked him how is this possible, and his answer was always, "Tithe 10% to God, and you will be blessed continuously. Even if wolves hound you, still he will bless you abundantly. Don't question it but do it. It is a matter of faith."

What a beautiful message he gave to me.
So i share it with you all.

Tithe. He promises to let loose the FLOOD GATES of heaven on us.
Blessing upon Blessing...even in these troubling times.
For the promises of the LORD are eternal.
The Lord Thy God is not a liar nor deceiver.

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.  I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit," says the LORD Almighty.  "Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land," says the LORD Almighty.

Unsa ning neuropathic pathology Enz? Kanang naay mag dagan2x ok-ok (feeling) sa imong likod or kaunoran? Isn't that caused mostly by medicines parehas atong naay mga parkinson disease?

Hi Father,

Peripheral neuropathy is the numbing of our distal limbs (arms, legs, toes) because of the diabetic condition. When a patient has diabetes, they cannot feel pain in their distal ligaments, and thus, implement trauma to their lower ligaments because they do not feel pain, and they do this not on purpose. Trauma can be like running alot and putting pressure and damage on their foot, toes because they do not feel pain. As a result of this, most diabetics usually have plantarfasciaitis , or plantar trauma, and have diabetic foot diseases.

Peripheral neuropathy is basically when the plexus of nerves distal to the thoracodorsal core becomes numbed and its firing mechanism is slowed because of the diabetes.

Parkinsonian-like diseases have a different mechanism of action as Diabetic neuropathy (peripheral neuropathy) because Parkinsons is related to an abnormally decreased level of Dopamine hormones, due to the damage of the substantial nigra and the niagrostriatal tract of the brain. This leads to an abnormally low level of domapine hormone and thus explains the movement disorderes seen, clinically, in Parkinsonian disease.

How we treat both diseases differ.

Diabetes and peripheral neuropathy is treated by maintaining insulin levels and treating the foot,leg,ankle.
Parkinsons is treated by taking synthetic forms of dopamine so as to increase the abormally low dopamine levels, but at the same time making sure that the dopamine levels are not abnormally high, because too much dopamine leads to Pyschosis (a mental disorder with abnormally high dopamine level).

Again, there is always the emphasis of stability, moderation and homeostasis (equilibrium) in the body.

The way GOD IN THE MOST HIGH designed our body, he made it that everything works in a system and that everything is sensitive, and requires equilibrium. Deviation of that equilibrium leads to pathology. And pathology--is the basis of disease formation.

Hope that helps, Father.

One doctor told me before that the moment you're diagnosed with diabetes, you're at least 5 years late. Tinuod na Enz?

I guess it depends on the severity and how long you have been undiagnosed with diabetes. Diabetes, if untreated and undiagnosed can mask many diseases.

You see, when a patient is suffering from diabetes (either type 1 = infantile/juvenile form due to the loss of pancreatic b-cells by autoimmune factors), and (type 2 = adult form, has great pro-genetic affinity, meaning has genetic passover, related to size, ethnic background, eating habits, smoking habits, etc).

If a patient has cardiovascular problems, meaning has hypertension, occlusion, has emphysema and has any problems that require him/her to take medication, having diabetes can actually mask the side effects and clinical symptoms of some of these conditions, that can become life threatening.

For example, one of the effects of diabetes, especially if it is undiagnosed, is PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY. Peripheral neurapathy is wen the distal limbs become numb due to the weakening of the plexus of nerves distal to the thoracodorsal region of the body because of diabetes. This can also mean numbness on our arms, and fingertips and faces.
Now, a person who has cardiovascular problems will know that he or she has a heart attack/ and or having one because of strong chest pain, and numbing feeling on the left arm that radiates to the back. So a person who is having these symptoms will know they are having a heart attack and thus call for help and thus be saved.

However, if a patient is an undiagnosed diabetic, he will feel no chest pain or numbing of the arms, fingers, and back when they have a heart attack because this is secondary to the peripheral neuropathy that is caused by the DIABETES, undiagnosed.
And thus, will die of MI or some kind of CVD.

~~

Luckily we can screen patients by their sugar levels, glucose and glucagon levels, their heating habits, and thus implement therapy on that basis. If a patient is pre-diabetic we can implement oral hypoglycemic drugs to reduce glucose levels and thus effectively prevent the onset of full-blow diabetes and its effects.

And if a patient is diabetic, we can prevent the ill effects of the disease by staying on the medication regimen by taking ultralente, lente, glibobizides, and any other diabetic drugs, religiously. So as to maintain insulin homeostasis.

Because, in the end, the MOA of the disease (mechanism of action) is a deviation of proper INSULIN production and reception.

So we treat this disease and we prevent it from affecting other systems by: maintaining insulin levels and prevent and warning the patient from doing HIGH RISK lifestyles such as:

1. Evade high fatty food
2. Cessation of smoking
3. Cessation of high drinking
4. Implementing an exercise regimen

~~

Any disease, Father, is preventable. And any disease can be treated, medication is out there. In the end, how it affects the patient is secondary to how the patient is responsible in taking their medication and implementing a lifestyle change.

I hope that explained your question.

Yours In Christ,
Bran

signs and symptoms from american diabetes association;

Although there is no well-defined cause for diabetes, it has been observed that genetics and other factors, like, lack of physical activity, obesity, etc, are found to be behind this disease. The following are the signs and symptoms of diabetes mellitus.

    * The most common symptoms of diabetes mellitus are polyuria (passage of large volumes of urine) and polydipsia (increased thirst and excessive fluid intake). As far as Type I diabetes is concerned, the affected people start developing symptoms within weeks or months, but in case of Type II diabetes, the symptoms develop in a very slow manner. In some people affected with Type II diabetes, the symptoms may not be severe enough to detect the disease or symptoms may be completely absent.
    * Another symptom of Type I diabetes is rapid and unexplained weight loss and lethargy. People affected by Type II diabetes may not experience weight loss.
    * Glycosuria (glucose in urine) and polyuria, may cause some other conditions, like, dehydration and polyphagia, a condition where the person experiences a significant increase in appetite.
    * If left untreated, the disease may lead to blurred vision, which is almost rapid in people with Type I diabetes, but develops in a very gradual manner in those with Type II diabetes.
    * Another complication of this disease is diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a condition, wherein the person experiences polyuria, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. This condition is characterized by a smell of acetone in the breath, a deep breathing pattern called Kussmaul breathing and lethargy. In severe cases, the patient may slip into coma and eventually, death may follow. Normally, this condition is mostly found in people affected with Type I diabetes. In case of any such symptoms, the patient must be hospitalized at the earliest.
    * Another severe symptom associated with diabetes but mainly experienced by patients of Type II diabetes is hyperosmolar nonketotic state. This condition is very rare and is caused by dehydration.
    * Infections of skin, bladder and vaginal areas are more commonly found in people affected by diabetes.

Diabetes mellitus is a very complicated disease, which can lead to nerve damage, kidney failure, atherosclerosis, blindness, stroke, heart disease, etc. Hence, it is imperative to control the disease

This is a great source of information for all of us, Manay.

Question and Answer / Re: Do you exercise everyday?
June 08, 2010, 09:24:03 PM
You can do it, Anna. Even walking 10-20 minutes a day, Anna, is something. It is a start.

You might not think 20 minutes is alot but 20 minutes a day is 140 minutes a week. 560 minutes in one month.

Each minute you work out, you decrease LDL (low density lipoprotein), raise your HDL (high density lipoprotein) and lower your Triglyceride levels. And each time you initiate an exercise regimen, you strengthen your heart and surrounding pericardium.

You effectively decrease preload and increase afterload; thus preventing the process of pre-hypertension ; and thus inivetibly cancel any process of hypertension.

Exercise can also increase natural endothelial lining structure integrity, thereby preventing clot formation, and since we inhibit clot formation, we thereby effectively prevent the instances of Myocardial Infarct (heart attack) and cerebrovascular infarct (stroke) by thrombal occlusion.

Think positive, sweetheart. You can do it!
I believe in you. :)

ah sharo. puro man optimist.. pero dili pod cguro tanan panahon optimist mo.  hehehe

Mo input lang ko , bai wind. Sure we will all have our bad days, heck even we'll have stressful days from work and from family-related matters, ma stressed out ang tawo, so mao na best to think positive and have a positive outlook. If a person is stressed, meaning that the sympathetic nervous pathway is being initiated, there will be increased heart rate, vasoactive processes in initiated, BP rises etc. So if a person is already hypertensive, pre-hypertensive, or has cardiovascular problems, is diabetic (highly associated with cadiovascular disease mode of death)....then allowing the stress to take the best of them will only be detrimental for the patient. Being negative and sulking depresses the body (physically and mentally), and that has an effect throughout: on the person and the people around them.

Even when we feel like sh*t, we should always look at the bright side. Always. Because being positive and applying a positive outlook has positive end results on one's own body (and most importantly, the mind).

Peace, bai wind.

    To all who call upon Him in truth.
    He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
    He also will hear their cry and save
    them.

He Is our rock, our refuge, those who trust in Him, are never left unaided.

Psalm 62:5-7
My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.

Even in the most difficult of times, circumstances, situations, don't ever loose grip nor loose the focus on the one who has power to deliver you.

Psalm 62:8

Trust in Him at all times, O people;
pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah.

(Selah: pause, rest, meditate, reflect.)

Psalm 84

To the Chief Musician. On an instrument of Gath. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

1 How lovely is Your tabernacle,
O LORD of hosts!
2 My soul longs, yes, even faints
For the courts of the LORD;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
And the swallow a nest for herself,
Where she may lay her youngâ€"
Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts,
My King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;
They will still be praising You. Selah

5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength;
Each one appears before God in Zion.

8 O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer;
Give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah
9 O God, behold our shield,
And look upon the face of Your anointed.

10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
The LORD will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.

12 O LORD of hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in You!

Psalm 42:

5)Why are you in despair, O my soul?
And why have you become disturbed within me?
Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him
For the help of His presence.

6)O my God, my soul is in despair within me;
Therefore I remember You from the land of the Jordan
And the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.

7)Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls;
All Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.

8)The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime;
And His song will be with me in the night,
A prayer to the God of my life.

9)I will say to God my rock, "Why have You forgotten me?
Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"

10)As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries revile me,
While they say to me all day long, "Where is your God?"

11)Why are you in despair, O my soul?
And why have you become disturbed within me?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God.

The concept here is very simple, post your verse(s) of Praise from the book of Psalms and feel free to share (if you would like to) why you chose it.

Yes. My best friend. Coping with his death was very difficult.

I would say within 1 decade time, we would have already provided proper containment procedures to prevent diabetes from progressing into neuropathic pathologies. That is, if it is detected in time and if patient responds to therapeutic goals.

This is a success for medicine; the research arm; and clinical trials.

Excellent!

Optimist. We always have to find the goods in any situation; even if it's bleak.

Doctors should never give up on the patient.

Till last breath.

undiagnosed yet they know they have diabetes? and there are 5.7m of them?

That refers to estimate, in this case, Jas. That estimate, inmho, is inaccurate, i would guess more are undiagnosed with it.
