I am currently in Cebu City. I arrived here on Tuesday 1:40pm and have spent the time exploring the sights and sounds of this beautiful and booming metropolis. Am staying at the Crown Regency Hotel, which I must recommend to all incoming foreign tourists and or OFWs. I spent the good time with my cousin Jing and my baby cousin Daniella touring and swimming in the pools, visiting the cafe shops, and the malls: SM Cebu City and Ayala Mall. Am loving it here.

I should be arriving in Bohol this Friday.

I was able to visit the Basilica Minor to the Blessed Santo Nino De Cebu. My Pilgrimage to the Blessed Child Jesus is complete. My prayers and wish to visit and see Him was granted. Pit Senyor!

Hoping for another good week. Regards to all.

Great place. I recommend this place for tourists and townsfolk alike.

With the progress of Medical Technology, Anesthesiology and OB-GYN precision, it is expected that C-sections will increase. This should be supported, especially for females/expectant mothers with a history of labor-related problems (maternal diabetes, maternal hypertension etc).

Good article.

I visited Valencia this week. Sawang, Anas, Manga, Canduao etc.

The place  has really changed. Valencia has progressed.

I am leaving for Cebu City this early afternoon. I should arrive there by 2 pm Philippine Standard Time.

I will be meeting with some of my relatives in my father's side there.

And of course, to check out SM and Ayala. :)

I should be meeting up with some good friends at Cebu Doctors ; some of whom are medical interns.

Next stop: The Queen City of the South.

Early this week,

I was introduced to some young physicians whom my uncles know of. Young women my age who asked of my background. It was good to connect to individuals of the same background. Medicine. Veterinary Medicine. Nursing. Nice.

I was able to befriend a Dr. Omo and Dr. Opo of Ramiro Community Hospital and Tagbilaran Hospital here in this fond little city. I also found out that Dr. Omo was the medical director of my Uncle, Dr. R. Lucino, who is a Surgeon-Internist based in the UK. Interesting how everything intertwines.

Dr. Omo fondly asked me, "Are you related to a Dr. Renee Lucino?"

I replied, "Yes, of course. He is my uncle."

We both shared laughs and a fond discussion.

Yesterday I went to Manga, Tagbilaran City to buy fresh fish, and supplies for kinilaw and sinugba. I ordered fresh seaweed for salad and i must say that the sights and sounds of the fish market was overwhelmingly fond. It is inopportune to have an American accent here, they recognize my accent and even with my binisaya, they still manage to target me as an OFW. lol.

That said, i still love the place. Love it.

I visited more relatives, and cannot believe how much I have missed in 12 years of my absence since my last visit in 1998.

I plan on going on a 2nd Bohol drive this weekend. Then manage to stop by for the derby/sabong/sunday school. :)

The past 2 weeks have been filled with so much memory. We had a double celebration on the 23rd; my birthday and my Mommy Wella's. Today is the day that my uncle, Dr. Renee E. Lucino, will arrive to Bohol. He is currently based in the UK. So much to do. I feel as if 1 month in Bohol is not enough. Hoping all is good.

Best,

Culture shocked indeed!

I arrived in Tagbilaran City at 7 AM by the 13th of July. My uncle gerard, the head of security at Tagbilaran Airport, saw me as i got of the airplane. I shouted, "'cle Gerard!" He was shocked! We locked in embrace and laughed. After which I saw my Mommy Wella (younger sister of my father, Engr. Rico Lucino), who is the DILG Director in the region. I will then get in contact with the rest of the group as soon as i have time.

I spent most of my day visiting Valencia (back and forth) and Tagbilaran. I have both sides of my family in Tagbilaran and in Valencia.

On the 15th of July I visited the cemetary in Tagbilaran to visit my Uncle Roy, Mama Luz and Papa Titing. The 15th of July was the 15th death anniversary of my Mama Luz. I was able to sweep the grounds of their gravesite, got some flowers and candles for them. My uncles and aunts and cousins came with me for the visitation. I miss them. I was in tears. I was at ease. I could feel peace. Uncle Bayoy was there.

Today on the 16th, I visited Valencia again to visit my Lolo Ciano and repair my truck. Changed tires, and preon for the AC. I also was able to visit my lolo Nating (the late Mrs. Fortunata Tan Salvo) and my other relatives.

I went to Barangay Anas, Valencia. Salvos. Salise. Valencia.

I went to the church of the SENOR SANTO NINO DE VALENCIA. PIT SENYOR!
PIT SENYOR! PIT SENYOR! :)

I am home. It has been so long. Its crazy how alot of people remember me but i do not know them; so many relatives, so many titas, titos, cousins, etc. I am truly at home here.

Bohol. Ang Yuta Na Natawhan.

On my flight from Detroit, Michigan to our stop over to Nagoya, Japan--then to our connecting flight to Manila, Philippines--I befriended two other bayanis who helped me in the Manila International Terminal. Thanks to Sharon and Herbert. Thanks for the well wishes, Sharon, and I hope you have a great time in your 3 week vacation in Pampangas. To Herbert, I hope you have closure in burying your father this week--and make it home safely by the end of this week. Thank you for making my flight to the Philippines easier, positive, and filled with laughs and jokes.

God, in his ever loving heart, hears our prayers and thoughts. He sure did make my flight journey fast, and stress-free. I am sure it was with the help of Angel Raphael who kindly heard my little prayer.

My eyes are looking south--to the direction of the shores of Bohol. To my beautiful Chocolate Hills. To my beautiful Valencia...

Truly there is no place like home.  :)

Thanks be to God.

To my beloved kababayans, and bayanis,

I am in the Philippines. I arrived in Manila International Airport at 10:35 PM (Philippine Time).
I am now in the Philippine Domestic Airport terminal 7 waiting for my flight to Tagbilaran City.
My flight leaves at 5:05 PM and I am scheduled to arrive in Tagbilaran at 7:00 AM.

It is surreal. I am finally here in my beloved land of my birth: The Republic of the Philippines.

My heart is so happy. I opened my eyes for the first time in 12 years and saw the lights of Manila City and breathed in the air of the Philippines.

I am Home.

To God be All Glory!
Thanks be to God!

;D ;D

I cannot sleep nor can I force myself to sleep. My flight departs in 7 hours. The land of my birth--I shall touch thy sacred, precious shores again.

To my dearest Island of Bohol, home of the most industrious people in the Philippines,--I shall see thee again.

To my family (immediate and extended), whom I will see soon. I cannot contain my smile nor my joy that is abounding.

To the Sacred Holy Infant Jesus--The Blessed Santo Nino--I dedicate everything to you. All for you.

Poems and Poets / Land of Noble Heroes
July 11, 2010, 04:04:29 PM
-B. Lorenzo

Land of glorious heroes in shining majesty,
Land of my family, of history told and untold,
Bosom of blood line that runs in my vein,
To see you, to touch thy precious ground.
Is this a dream?

Land where the tropical heat mixes with the joviality
of smiles, kindness, and hospitality.
Land where I will always call my home.
I shall see thee.

Thy precious royal air, thy sunrise, thy sunsets,
cherished eternally.

The land of Noble Heroes..

I'm planning to visit my Uncle and Aunt later this evening--before my journey back to the Philippines. Earlier this morning I decided to drive around and feel the warm summer breeze of Southern New Jersey. It was too hot outside, unfortunately, and decided to keep my windows down--and blasted my AC on high. There's nothing like driving on Jersey roads in the summer..

The words from a wise man. Bai Lindy, tinuod jud ka. Fine and delicate man gud ning 'Love'. And you are right, there are some things that women crave and yearn for--things that the finest luxuries and check books/credit cards cannot satiate.

The attention of her partner. :)

In the real world Money win.

Both should be fiscally responsible. Fiscal responsibility is the basis for financial growth--ug--cement ang mga plano sa relationship. Mao lagi ning gi ingon sa ahong ginikanan---"ug ma minjo jud ka, minjoa pood ang doctora."

hehe. mo agree ko nila.

O Raphael, lead us towards those we are waiting for, those who are
waiting for us!  Raphael, Angel of Happy Meetings, lead us by the hand
towards those we are looking for!  May all our movements, all their
movements, be guided by your Light and transfigured by your joy.

Angel guide of Tobias, lay the request we now address to you at the feet
of Him on whose unveiled Face you are privileged to gaze.  Lonely and
tired, crushed by the separations and sorrows of earth, we feel the need
of calling to you and of pleading for the protection of your wings, so
that we may not be as strangers in the Province of Joy, all ignorant of
the concerns of our country.

Remember the weak, you who are strong--you whose home lies beyond the
region of thunder, in a land that is always peaceful, always serene, and
bright with the resplendent glory of God.

Amen.

Bible Study / Prayer For Happy Meetings and Travels
July 09, 2010, 12:37:23 AM
For those who will be traveling back to the Philippines this summer, and or other places and destinations. Am wishing you all a safe and opportune journey, in Jesus' Name.

This was forwarded to me by a very good friend. Thought I should share:

Prayer Before a Trip

Dear St. Raphael, your lovely name means "God heals." The Lord sent you to young Tobias to guide him throughout a long journey. Upon his return you taught him how to cure his father's blindness. How natural, therefore, for Christians to pray for your powerful help for safe travel and a happy return. This is what we ask for ourselves as well as for all who are far from home. Amen.

Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat, or will stay awake just to watch you sleep... wait for the boy who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats, who holds your hand in front of his friends, who thinks you're just as pretty without makeup on. One who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky his is to have you.... The one who turns to his friends and says, 'that's her.'”  - anonymous

Filipino seafarers are now perceived by many as among the best in the world, an international maritime official said on Thursday.

Graham Young, International Transport of Workers Federation (ITF) head of Maritime Operations in London said the Filipino mariners, which accounts for 25 per cent of the entire seafarers manning the merchant shipping fleet of the world, are being looked up because of their professionalism and unparalleled commitment towards work.

“There is now high regard for Filipino seamen. And with the strong supervision and support from (your) government, they will continue to demonstrate competence, professionalism and even bravery as risks and hazards are so inherent in their jobs,’’ Young told the Bulletin. - Manila Bulletin (source)

This is great! Hard working man gud ning Pilipino. I have a cousin who is a seaman--and he's always out working. I salute all the Pinoys out there that work in this noble profession.

Ah best treatment jud (herbal style) is hot soup jud. Kining sabao with rice, or chicken noodle soup.

Kining allergic rhinitis, it is just a minor inflammation of  your nasal passage, which has lead to the stimulation of your alpha receptors, which are responsible for phlegm production, and fluid formation, naturally it will flow out. Ug gusto ka mo suway sa household treatment, its not bad as well. Pero if this remains chronic, Bugs, its not bad to get Loratadine as well. Usually the allergic rhinitis will dissipate within 1 weeks time naturally. The Loratadine's MOA (mechanism of action) is that it actively binds to Alpha receptors in the body, thereby inhibiting the fluid production that is responsible for your symptom of nasal drip-page. The relief of symptoms will be faster.

Claritin (Loratadine) can be purchased here for very cheap, its an OTC (over the counter): $5.
I'm sure the Chinese generic brand of Loratadine is cheap as well.

Hope you get better.
Regards.

gawas aning tambal unsa pa'y maayo nakong buhaton...inom permi ug tubig?... unsa pa?

Matsalam daan.

Bugsay,

Do you have allergies and or history of allergies? Do you have a cold; and if so, how long have you been experiencing your cold? Usually when a person has an overactive nasal drippage, its a response to some kind of irritant in the nasal passageway. (Ug gusto ka, we can talk in PM so dili ta ma invade aning thread). It seems to me that you have the classical symptoms of allergic rhinitis. I would suggest you go to the general store and purchase a drug called Loratadine (an a-blocker). Loratadine is known as Claritin; perhaps it is also the same in China (where you are based).

I like that you are open minded to herbal medicines, pero herbal medicines should never replace standard medicine in treating an ailment. Please take this into consideration in your life, it's best jud to be used as a complement on the side.

You're more than welcome to PM me if you have more questions.

All the best,

To confer respect and humility. We refer this prefix to give honor to the person being addressed, by his works, his achievements, and or some sort of personal obeisance. Filipinos, who uphold the notion of filial piety, are not wronged in this regard.

It is in our culture, and our mentality; we are a respectful people and culture.

These bring peace to those who are infirm and dying. Let them go in Christ...

Ondoy Tigs, if you are a soldier of Christ you defend your faith, that´s the essence of this sacrament.

Amen! Ingon to His Eminence Bishop Donald Trautman, (we met in a convocation dinner during a catholic retreat, where he prayed for me, and again during confirmation) he said to me: "Will you defend the faith when it pleases you and even when it is unpleasant?" I said, "Yes."

"Will you actively resist the devil all his works, his words, all that he stands for?"

"Yes"

"Then I anoint you in the name of the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit, welcome to the Church, go and be blessed!"

~~

For me, meeting and talking to His Eminence was in a way being in the presence of Christ. And to be honest with you manay, you are indeed right. The Holy Spirit will call one to make the sacrament of confirmation and the one called will answer--with grace. I had so many questions when i was in college, which were all answered in an active life in the Society of Newman and wit the help of my good friend, Fr. Hoffman, who was there during my confirmation. Defend always the Faith, even when others rebuke, because that is the glory of faith. A shining and unmovable faith is the Glory of Christ Jesus in Heaven who has prepared a feast for us in His Kingdom....

God Bless.

Death penalty would be idealistic in the Philippines, but considering the corruption in the legal and political systems, we risk sentencing the innocent man to death and pardoning the actual murderer. We should have something as solid and firm as the legal-judicial system in Singapore. Death penalty should be re-instituted , but the country should also actively reform the prison system.
