Weird and Extreme / Raccoon Bites Off Rapist's Penis
January 30, 2009, 03:53:59 AM
FEISTY raccoon has bitten off a pervert’s PENIS as he was trying to rape the animal.
Published: 26 Jan 2009

Alexander Kirilov, 44, was on a drunken weekend with pals when he leapt on the terrified â€" but toothy â€" fur ball.

“When I saw the raccoon I thought I’d have some fun,” he told stunned casualty surgeons in Moscow.

Now Russian plastic surgeons are trying to restore his mangled manhood.

“He’s been told they can get things working again but they can’t sew back on what the raccoon bit off," said a pal.

“That’s gone forever so there isn’t going to be much for them to work with."

Charges vs. suspect in slay of call center agent delayed
Updated January 30, 2009 12:00 AM

Cebu - Murder charges are expected to be filed today against the suspect in the killing of call center supervisor Lynn Vi Ebarita after police failed to do so last night due to the delay in the release of the report of the autopsy performed on Ebarita’s body.

Mandaue police said they will file the complaint against Jonnelle Enfectana before the Mandaue City Prosecutor’s Office first thing today.

Enfectana, 26, was a “close friend” and co-worker of Ebarita at the TeleTech Call Center. She was placed under arrest the other day after police recovered the victim’s wallet under a pile of wood inside Enfectana’s rented room in barangay Banilad.

The wallet contained several identification cards of Ebarita.

Enfectana earlier confessed of her participation during a free and voluntary statement to the police but her lawyer retracted his client’s earlier admission and told reporters Enfectana had no participation in the crime.

Enfectana remains in the custody of the Subangdaku Police Station.

Mandaue City Police Office Director Orlando Ualat said his men continue to verify the other personalities involved in the killing, as the names that Enfectana had given during the earlier confession might just be fictitious.

The names Enfectana mentioned during the investigation reportedly turned out to be phony.

Ualat said they are also considering the possibility that the other suspects were hired killers based on how the crime was carried out.

The police are also still trying to trace the identity of the woman who registered at the front desk of the Nikkei Garden Hotel where Ebarita’s body was found last Thursday night.

I want to live a pragmatic life.

Why I can't live this kind of life now? Because I am influenced and brought up, the opposite.

Actor (and stuntman) Jackie Chan - who is slated to star in the upcoming Karate Kid remake - tries to minimize his impact on the environment by taking hotel soap home with him so he can use it until it is completely gone!

Speaking at a go-green rally in Singapore, Chan explained his environment-saving methods.

"I usually stay in the presidential suite whenever I travel; however I will wash my own undergarments and socks everyday when I return to my room. I will also inform the chamber maids that they do not have to change my bed sheets and towels everyday."

He also said that "once I un-wrap the soap which the hotels provide, I will carry it along with me until I finish using it" and that he believes hotels should charge for toiletries to discourage guests from wasting them.

He keeps green with "golden flushes" on set, where production crew and stuntmen wait until the last one uses the toilet to flush. At concerts, he encourages his audience to throw their own garbage away.

He said, "Artistes make their appeal and the audience usually will respond to the call. That is the power of celebrities."

We should all take a cue!

LOS ANGELES â€" Awash in debt, behind on his mortgage and recently fired from his job at a hospital, Ervin Lupoe was planning on leaving California. He'd pulled his kids out of their school, packed his sport utility vehicle with snow chains and winter clothing for him and his family and appeared ready for the trip to his brother-in-law's home in Garden City, Kan.

It's not yet known if he was planning on leaving for good in a bid to flee his mounting money problems or if the trip would have only been temporary.

Whatever his intention, Lupoe never got to Kansas.

Instead, police say, he shot his five children and wife to death before turning the gun on himself.

"Something happened in the last 48 hours that made him snap," said Detective David Cortez, the lead investigator in the case. "(He saw) no other way, no other direction."

Investigators found evidence of spiraling financial woes. Lupoe owed the Internal Revenue Service at least $15,000 and a check he wrote the agency for that amount had just bounced.

He also was at least one month behind on a mortgage for his home in Wilmington, near the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Jobs are scarce in the area and the real-estate market is sinking. Lupoe owed about $2,500 and a late fee, Cortez said. He also owed thousands more on a home equity line of credit.

Police found the bodies of Lupoe, his wife and five children Tuesday morning. It appears the family had been killed the evening before and Lupoe shot himself the next day, Cortez said.

Lupoe and his wife Ana had both recently been fired from their jobs at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center West Los Angeles. The two technicians had understated their income on an application for childcare in a bid to get cheaper rates, Cortez said.

Lupoe faxed a bitter, two-page letter to a local TV news station the morning he killed himself, saying a hospital administrator told him he "should not even have bothered to come to work" and "should have blown (his) brains out."

Investigators interviewed the hospital administrator, who said Lupoe's characterization of their conversation was an out-of-context misrepresentation and denied using the words Lupoe said she did.

In his letter, Lupoe went on to suggest it was his wife's idea to end the family members' lives.

"He had one of those victim mentalities," Cortez said. "There is nothing yet that suggests his wife was a willing party."

Exclusive: AOL to Lay Off 10 Percent of Staff, Cutting 700, Due to Ad Meltdown and a Refocusing on New Structure

Posted at 10:18 AM PT on January 28, 2009

The 10 percent reduction in workforce will take place over the next several quarters, with most of the U.S. layoffs to be completed by March. AOL has 7,000 employees world-wide, mostly located domestically.

AOL is also eliminating merit raises, just as Yahoo (YHOO) and other digital companies have done recently, and consolidating facilities.

While Time Warner (TWX) has been trying to sell AOL to Yahoo, the online unit has also been shifting its resources, as part of a long-term turnaround plan. It has focused the company on three parts: its Platform-A ad unit; its communications and social-networking arm, People Networks; and its recently launched MediaGlow content studio.

It has also been in the midst of splitting out its longtime access business, which has provided the bulk of AOL’s revenues and profits, which sources said has given its top execs insight into what its future business model should be.

Besides the layoffs and cost cuts, sources said AOL was also looking at paring its international business, which has never been particularly successful.

The New York Times Company Reports 2008 Fourth-Quarter and Full-Year Results
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The New York Times Company announced today fourth-quarter 2008 earnings per share from continuing operations (EPS) of $.19, including $.10 per share for severance costs and a non-cash charge totaling $.07 per share for the write-down of assets, compared with $.37 EPS in the fourth quarter of 2007, which included $.07 per share for severance costs and non-cash charges totaling $.07 per share for the write-down of assets.

Fourth-quarter 2008 operating profit from continuing operations decreased to $63.3 million from $101.5 million in the 2007 fourth quarter. Excluding depreciation and amortization and the special items noted below, operating profit from continuing operations decreased to $118.5 million from $159.2 million in the 2007 fourth quarter.

“The disruptions of the global economy are affecting all businesses and industries, especially companies, such as ours, that generate a significant portion of their revenues from advertising,” said Janet L. Robinson, president and CEO. “In this time of unprecedented change, we are responding strategically and creatively to manage our businesses and prepare for our future, while preserving the flexibility to navigate this difficult period. You have seen that in our decisions to restructure our cost base, to preserve capital by reducing our dividend, and to improve our financial position by completing the transaction announced last week. And you see that daily in how we are responding to the present realities of our markets.

“As the economy deteriorated in the quarter, advertisers significantly reduced their spending. After growing almost 15 percent in the first nine months of last year, digital advertising decreased 3.5 percent in the fourth quarter as online marketers cut back on display ads in response to worsening business conditions. Despite the deepening recession, our circulation revenues increased 3.7 percent as a result of higher prices at The New York Times, The Boston Globe and our smaller newspapers. This is a testament to the value our readers believe we bring to them.

Starbucks to cut 6,700 jobs, close 300 stores
Coffee retailer's profit dropped 69 percent in its fiscal first quarter
updated 7:58 p.m. ET Jan. 28, 2009

Starbucks Corp. said Wednesday that it would cut as many as 6,700 jobs as it closes hundreds more stores and eliminates more positions at its corporate headquarters.

Faced with slowing demand for lattes and cappuccinos because of the recession, Starbucks plans to close 300 stores, including 200 in the United States, and eliminate about 6,000 store jobs. The company also plans to eliminate about 700 corporate jobs, including about 350 at its corporate headquarters in Seattle.

It also has reduced the number of new stores it plans to open.

Kodak posts loss, plans up to 4,500 job cuts
Photography products firm posts a $137 million fourth-quarter loss
updated 8:21 a.m. ET Jan. 29, 2009

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Eastman Kodak Co. said Thursday it is cutting 3,500 to 4,500 jobs, or 14 percent to 18 percent of its work force, as it posted a $137 million fourth-quarter loss on plunging sales of both digital and film-based photography products.

The photography products pioneer said its loss in the October-December period amounted to 51 cents a share. That compares with a year-ago profit of $215 million, or 75 cents a share.

Sales slumped 24 percent to $2.43 billion from $3.22 billion a year ago, hit by weakened demand for digital cameras, lower royalties from patents and unfavorable foreign exchange rates. Digital revenue dropped 23 percent to $1.78 billion and traditional film-based revenue fell 27 percent to $652 million.

Last 1.26.09 I asked my sister and cousin to buy Kraft Eden Cheese at Gaisano Ormoc for our red wine.

While I was slicing it, I noticed that it had maggots or termite eggs on it. And I even saw very tiny insects crawling on the cheese itself. It angered me. Furious, I stormed back to Gaisano (with 3 other cousins).

I was stopped by the guard. So I answered and showed her the receipt "Obviously I wanna return this and complain. Don't stop me". Taken aback, she let us enter.

We were now on the supermarket (I don't know what fueled me to be that angry). We went to the cashier where they paid the cheese and asked for the supervisor. She pointed a counter at the corner and the rants began.

I immediately asked, "Are you the supervisor that I need"? She answered "yes". So I was like. "Good. cause I want to file a complain against your department. How was this cheese able to pass thru inspection? If you really do inspect your area and your employees."

Her answer? "Ay sorry maam sa mga cashier ko nga supervisor. Ang sa grocery nag lunch pa."

Me: "Having lunch at 1p.m.? Okay then. May I speak with anybody who's responsible for this"

Her. "Ang Kraft dapat maam, naglunch pasad"

Me: I became furious.  "Kuyawa gud nagdungan man sila ug lunch?"

Her: If gusto ka, adto nalang sa office didto reklamo. Or didto sa Kraft office since ila na product nya nag hire ran a sila ug pwesto dre sa amo.

Me: "I was like, are you serious?! So we can just pay for a place here and can escape in selling rotten goods cause it is not being inspected anyway? Miss, clearly, we are not from here. We are the inconvenienced customers so why not let them come to us?”

Her: She wasn't able to answer. Instead,"Unsay inyu maam refund? Pa-i-lisan?

Yang (cousin): “Miss if we wanted that, do you think we would waste time speaking with you?”

Me: I want somebody who’s responsible to sign in our complaint letter, cause we will pass this to BFAD. Clearly, the issue is Gaisano because this is the third time. My Lolo twice bought molo wrappers and upon opening it, twas rotten. Does that mean we need to open your products first before purchasing it? It's a bad timing for you kay gisapot jud ko. That's why dia mi gareklamo run.

It was very visible that she was already uneasy, we had a few exchange of words when I asked for the location or number of the Kraft person cause I wanted to call and ask him about the matter, she told me wala sila'y number.

Me: “Wala moy number sa inyu employee?" I told her to not pass me around cause that is a job that I am exposed to.  And then she raised her voice. "KAY DILI BITAW KAMI ANG MUTUBAG ANI ANG KRAFT MAN!"

And calmly I took my sunglasses off, icily stared at her and said "Why are you raising your voice? Did we for once raised our voice?"

Her: Wala maam

Me: Good. Let's continue. "The Kraft guy is employed here. He is your responsibility".

So she dialed a number (management dept), after explaining things, she handed me the phone "Ma'am ikaw nalang storya ani o."

Me: Hello gud afternoon, are you the person  I need?

Receiver: Hello? hello?

Me: So I translated it to vernacular. Miss nakasabot ka? Are you able to give me info of the Kraft guy or the grocery supervisor?

Receiver: "nganu diay maam? Is there something wrong?

Me: Fine. Let me tell you that your product has maggots, molds and eggs all over it. And I want to bring this to BFAD together with the complain letter. And we want to speak with the supervisor responsible. You know what? I'm tired. Maybe I should already tell my lolo about this. This could've been finished earlier or I think his mere presence will end all of this already. (she was speechless, she didn't even bother to ask who my lolo is. hahaha LOL)

Receiver: Okay maam kadali lang, wait lang mo please.

And minutes after grocery supervisor arrived. Very aggressive.

Supervisor: "unsa diay inyo reklamo day? nga dili mana amo sala. sa Kraft mana tubagonon."

Yang: "Maam, this is not just Kraft's responsibility since this is already the third time that we were able to buy rotten products from your store. Maybe this means we need to open your products first before paying for it?"

Wala cya katingog. Minutes after, we were asked to go to the office with the manager (uh-oh)

The manager was in his civilian clothes cause it was his rest day. Very civil. He summoned the grocery supervisor and the Kraft guy (surprise!! they were there after all!!).. So we talked I explained our side. He scolded the Kraft guy and the supervisor. Do we want him to be terminated? We said no. Just put this in his records. We only want to raise awareness on the management. Since the performance of your people will affect you. He understood. We still filed a complain on their records. He saw our home addresses, and there came a point that I had to call Sabin hotel cause I needed an advice from my aunt  (klaru najud dili mi taga ormoc.) And that was it.

He asked for the damaged cheese since we already have pictures anyway. I answered “Dili klaru amo pictures”. Then we walked away with the 5 cheese replacements. =)

Sometimes I try not to watch the news. But I know ako rapuy luoy.

If I didn't watch the news, then maybe I wouldn't know that pigs from Sta. Rita Samar are dying from Salmonella outbreak and there are human victims already.

I also won't know that a pig was infected with Reston Ebola (like how the F did the pig get it? monkey to pig trasfer is soooo unimaginable.)

argh.  so im all for veggies, junk and bread these days.

And a late paranoid , totally ignorant confession, I didn't eat fish nor squid on those days when the you-know-what sunk. I know what you're thinking guys. Lol.

I miss meat tho..

FOR the second week in a row, the body of a murdered young woman was found in Mandaue City yesterday.

Drawn by the stench, a security guard found Emily Nuñeza, 24, partly hidden in a grassy lot behind a gasoline station in the North Reclamation Area.

She still had on her undergarments and a white shirt with stripes. A pair of jeans was found near the body. Rope burns marked her wrists and her neck, indicating she had been bound.

Police said that five days ago, Nuñeza told her friends she was meeting a man she exchanged phone numbers with during an FM radio show. It was their second meeting.

She agreed to see him because she wanted to get her phone back. Days earlier, when they first met at the Mactan Shrine, the man convinced her to swap phones, Nuñeza’s co-worker told police investigators.

The police requested that the co-worker’s name be withheld, for her security.

A trisikad driver who brought her to the reclamation area was probably among the last persons to see Nuñeza alive. Police have yet to find out if he also saw the man she was there to meet.

Although no identification cards were found and decomposition made the woman’s face unrecognizable, her sister and friends were positive it was Nuñeza, PO2 Roberto Neri of the Homicide Section told Sun.Star Cebu last night.

He said it probably took more than one man to bind Nuñeza’s wrists and neck, then kill her. Investigators have yet to determine if she had been raped.

Police received at 4:20 p.m. yesterday the phone call about the gruesome discovery.

At that time, homicide investigators were working on the murder of Lynn Vi Ebarita, a call center agent whose body was found outside a hotel room in Mandaue City last Thursday.

Bernard Tambaoan, deputy director for operations of the Mandaue City Police Office, said there is no connection between the two killings.

Tambaoan also assured that the police already intensified their beat patrol and are considering a suggestion to revive a curfew in the city.

Reports about the body’s discovery prompted a few residents of a boarding house in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City to report to the Mandaue City Homicide Section, where they also recognized the clothes as that of Nuñeza.

Nuñeza, who worked at the Mactan Economic Zone II, had been missing since the night of Jan. 23. That night, a friend reportedly tried to go with her to the reclamation area, but got left behind because Nuñeza was in a rush to get her phone back.

Her phone remained missing yesterday. (OCP/With IDA)

Cops arrest call center agent’s friend
Thursday, January 29, 2009

CEBU CITY -- Police arrested Wednesday a friend of the call center agent whose body was found outside a hotel room, after investigators recovered the victim’s wallet inside the friend’s boarding house.

Jonnelle Enfectana, 26, initially volunteered to sign a confession, but changed her mind Tuesday night and refused to cooperate further with Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) investigators.

Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Arroyo

At 3:30 p.m., police arrested her inside the private ward of the Mandaue City hospital, where she was resting a day after being admitted. Investigators brought her to the MCPO and prepared a murder case against her.

Police already have the names of two possible accomplices and have asked the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Tacloban for assistance.

Chief Inspector Eddie Recamara of the MCPO and his team recovered Lynn Vi Ebarita’s wallet, containing her identification cards, inside a room Enfectana rented in Florimer Subdivision, Barangay Banilad, Cebu City.

Recamara said they secured the homeowner’s consent for the search and that the arrest, while warrantless, was legal because it formed part of their pursuit operations.

A radio report, however, quoted lawyer Michael Enriquez as saying he will question the validity of the search and arrest.

Asked about the motive, Recamara said he believed envy may have triggered the attack.

Last January 18, some of Enfectana’s male relatives reportedly came to see her for the Sinulog. One of the investigators’ theories is that the suspect arranged for a group sex session, but that the victim refused.

Four days later, Ebarita’s body was discovered stuffed inside a plastic bag.

From then on, Recamara said the police relied on leads provided by Enfectana, including printouts of chat conversations between Ebarita and her US-based boyfriend, and between the boyfriend and Enfectana.

One thing that provoked the boyfriend’s suspicion was Enfectana’s use of a nickname that only his girlfriend knew and used.

Up until last Tuesday, police provided Enfectana with security because she said she received death threats. She collapsed that day before she could sign a confession detailing her role in Ebarita’s death.

But when her lawyer Michael Enriquez came to see her last Tuesday night, Enfectana changed her mind. No confession was signed.

During the search at noon Wednesday, police found among Enfectana’s things Ebarita’s wallet, which contained her TeleTech card, a PhilHealth card, a North General Hospital card and credit cards.

Deputy director for operations Bernard Tambaoan said that was enough “circumstantial evidence” to arrest Enfectana.

Tambaoan also said they have two witnesses who are willing to execute affidavits to pin down the suspects.

CEBU CITY -- Mandaue City’s police force is tracking down a woman and three men believed to be behind the killing of call center agent Lynn Vi Ebarita, a case that Chief Inspector Eddie Recamara described Tuesday as “90 percent” solved.

The “close friend” who offered information to the police was rushed to the hospital, along with her mother, before the friend could sign her confession.

The mother reportedly suffered a minor stroke while the friend was under observation after what appeared to be an anxiety attack.

Ebarita was stabbed 24 times and her body stuffed in a plastic bag placed outside a hotel room. The stench eventually led to the body’s discovery last January 22, five days after a woman first checked in and paid for the room.

After Ebarita’s death was reported, her “close friend” volunteered information to police investigators. These included printouts of some online chats between Ebarita and her US-based boyfriend, as well as between the friend and the boyfriend.
