One my favorite song for ballroom dancing, Swing. I love it!

I looove this song. When this song was popular, I had a tape of this and everytime I visited my grandparents either Alicia or Sagbayan, I made sure and saved front seat opposite the driver so I can play the tape on their player then I sat back and enjoyed my ride.

It is normal and in fact healthy to express a dissenting opinion.

We encourage a free flow of opinion.

You may not like the idea or opinion of a Bol-anon here but don't use it against him or her.

Always remember this: focus on the topic, not on the person who disagrees with you. With this, we'll be building meaningful friendships in Tubag Bohol.

Glad I saw this topic Mike. This will always reminds myself everytime I reply on a topic especially from a comment, from a comment and on and on. If I read something negative, I just have to take a long deep breath, get off from my PC and think of what I'm going to do whether or not I'm going to comment back.

Sir Benelynne you're thinking huge stuff. Looking at Sir Macky's gathered info, it looks like, it will surely takes a lot of jobs for skilled Boholanos. The question is, are there still any? It seems to me they're all working abroad or even planning to go abroad. Can you convince them to stay?
I'm not in Bohol but yes, i'm interested to this topic. So Gentlemen please keep it coming, I'm still reading.

I'm ok, Beth. hehe except that I lost my phone in the check-in area.
O noh! that's even worst. Did you find it?
#2911
My husband and I as travelers ourselves these are all true and helpful. But we don't carry snacks. And we don't bring huge luggage for checking-in. That means, all my husband's belongings carry it with him and I carry mine. Huge advantage like, no waiting for luggage around carousel. As soon as the plane landed, just get out, and go. Sounds impossible but it is, how? Use small carry-on with wheel suitcase along with a medium tote bag that has zipper closure or small a bagpack. My husband is just carry-on suitcase, as for me as you know ladies got lots of extras, so it's me who carries tote bag and put it on top of my suitcase. As for our passports/tickets/cash, my husband use tiny pouch that goes around his waist. While mine, I use small shoulder bag that goes around my neck/shoulder that hangs in front/side of me. Pretty safe!
And one more thing, we don't carry jeans, these kinds of pants takes a lot of room and weight.
However, returning home, we got lots of extras like the ones we bought like souvenirs so this is the time to check-in our carry-on suitcases except my tote bag. At least this time where in no rush.
Guys these are just a thought it might be helpful to some especially traveling international for business or leisure.

I read book when I'm in the mood. But my husband, my God, can't sleep without reading first and started it since he was a kid. So he pretty much influenced me more and more and I enjoyed it too.
I love to read Mystery like James Patterson and Grisham (O, I recommend "Playing with Pizza" if you're a big fan of football game like me & my sweetie pie) I have to go to our library and see if I can borrow his latest "The Innocent Man" my friend told me it's suppose to be good.
I also like Daniel Steel, cute stories especially the sophisticate lifestyle on it
I also like John Irving
And the most difficult book I read it's like kick it up a notch was the "Bel Canto" by Ann Panchett
And now, I'm starting to read "Night Ferry" by Michael Robotham

- mamyabas

-mamista hehe

Mine are pretty much same as Happy, I just would like to add more:
- riding bicycles with my foreigner friend Melissa around City Engineering and dao
- teacher - student game with matching blackboard, lots of chalks, eraser, long stick, lesson plan and Class record,
- went to Doljo beach or Caingit every Sunday as our swimming day
- my friends and I walked to St.Joseph church from Arpels along J.A.Clarin and back home every Christmas Eve and New year's eve
- on my birthday I invited all my friends for an ice cream party
- then during school break I regularly visited my grandparents either Sagbayan or Alicia. In Sagbayan, during full moon we played "gym-gym (SP?)" along the highway. And also "bayle" to any barrio nearby, so much fun!
- and lastly the one I hate to remember was my mother beat me from head to toe and when she calmed down, she made up for it by being soo nice to me giving me treats. And also she tied me up in my bedroom. All because she didn't want me to go out of the house with my friends for a long period of time (laagan man gud, dah merise!).

Sorry to hear about your friend too grazie.
Yes happy, really sad. That's why when i saw this topic about "Not Forgetting Our Friends" I didn't hesitate to share my story with you, I feel a little better doing it actually, at least I know I'm not alone.
And for me remembering is not enough, I have to do something about it. When I went to Bohol last May 2006, I went right away where she was burried in Lila. Actually, she also made me Godmother to one of his 4 sons and name him after my favorite name to a boy, i'm soo touched. Now i'm doing my best to keep in touch with him and the rest of his brothers and sister. This way I wanted to make up for everything.
Well, you're right guys, it's such a sad story, I apologize for starting it, I just couldn't help myself. But thank you though for your kinds words.

B:), I can relate. I've had those happen to me. And they're truly traumatic.

Actually C2H4 that's not the only trauma I had.
The other was one of my very close bestfriend in college passed away in Jan.2006 due to breast cancer. I'm still recovering/not over about what happened to her. It still brings tears to my eye everytime I think of it like, right now! whew. I kept in contact with her when I left Tagbilaran in 2001. It was when she moved to an island in Cebu where mobiles and no landline are in poor connections. Yet I wrote letters, cards etc. eventhough no replies but I thought it was ok 'coz writing wasn't her thing. By the time they bought another property in Mango Ave.Cebu with all the high technology connections, tha's when she dropped me the bomb about her stage 4 illness. And I sobbed overnight because I didn't do anything, not even on her side to give her just a little comfort, sorry I got to stop....
#2943
Wait, PrincessaDagat, did you just write about my story? hehehehehe  :) joke!. Most of your story happened to me too. I actually had a fight with one of my friends in childhood arguing that never in my wildest dream marry a man from foreign land.
It was one of my bestfriend who introduced us when my husband was on vacation in Bohol and I was in Manila at that time. He went to Manila  and there we met, like you said, happened in the least expected because at that time I was about to leave to work abroad but like you said the connection was magic, that's all I can say. It truly was our destiny.
#2944
Sorry Jefferis and Nichol but I'd like to contradict about this a little according to my experienced not just once but twice.
First - One of my classmate in college was an easy-go-lucky lady maybe because her rich uncle supported her and she doesn't care. She did everything from drugs to boys, mention it she has it. Until one day, we crossed roads and I find her challenging at the same time I felt sorry for her. So I took her in by being friendly, supportive, good listener and most of all giving good advice. My friends warned me and told me to neglect her. They were afraid I might get influenced by her. With the guidance of my faith in God, I extended it to her, opening her eyes, minds, body and soul to go back to God by encouraging her to go with me to the church every sunday which to my surprised she did. And then, I asked her a huge favor that if she's willing to be my friend, she has to let go of the bad habits along with her I wouldn't say bad but I guess misguided circle of friends. And she did. Little by little I was proud seeing her transformed until we became inseparable close friends and most of all seeing her graduated was so rewarding. What happen to her now, that I honestly have no idea, after graduation we all parted ways and at that time there was no internet yet so losing a good friend was inevitable. I just hope wherever she is now, she's doing well.
Second - One of my past boyfriend was a drug addict. Again, I might be a little stupid but not dumb. I did the best I could to influenced him to stop but I guess drugs was too powerful than me for him anyway. Even his mother was asking me to do something, unfortunately, nodda. So I just let him go. It was hard but I had to. The best part was whatever drives him crazy didn't really appeal to me. Faith in God is just too strong for me than do drugs.
So for me not all bad company fall into bad odor.

I'll take that as a compliment ms da binsi and thank you.
Grazie, sorry about your bestpren, it happens. And there's nothing we can do. I wish you luck though!
Like what happen to one of my bestfriend  too, all of a sudden, she just dropped me like a ball and I have no idea why. It's upsetting, after all our many many years of friendship, everything just went down the drain and all for what? It took me a long time to recover, even my husband feel sorry me and he helps me accept about it, who knows she might have a strong reason for doing so and that remains a mystery to me and it drives me CRAZY! So little by little I'm recovering and realizing that she doesn't want me as her bestfriend anymore, do I care now? Doesn't matter, it's a shame but what can I do? That's her life not mine. I'll just treasure our memories with me forever and that's it. And because of this incident, I find myself a little hard to have new bestfriends, I can't take it anymore if my other bestfriends will somehow be like her (knock on woods please don't 'coz I love them so much like my real sisters, I do over the top treating them well even if they can't give anything in return it's fine for as long as they'll continue to be a good friend to me, I'm happy and I thank God for them everyday) I would say a huge part of me will be gone.

Nice picture. You're right Happy the color of the water is an eye opener
When I arrived to this port in May of 2006 for the first time in 5 years, I was speechless and a little shocked to see the amazing turquoise blue water! It's unbelievable. The last time I saw it, used to be dark scary color and yet my friends and I used to stroll to this pier every sunset and just sit at the edge and watch the sun sets down. At that time everyone can go in and out. In other words young people use it as a park to just hang around and do nothing. I recall, one of my suitor took me out on a date and brought me here. We just sat, talked and had a pleasant time together. It was fun.
And now look at this Pier!  What a great job to whoever did this, I thank them really. It truly makes the first best impression especially for the tourist.

My husband and I love Thailand. If it's not because of a long fly, we would have love to keep going back.
During our stay in Bangkok it was the 80th Reign Anniversary of the King, so in his honor we bought yellow shirts with his logo. Thais appreciate when they saw us wearing it.
We also like Chiang Mai. Of course we didn't miss the elephant ride. Such an adventure, on the elephant's back, we're sitting on a bench and we went up the hill, went down, into the stream and back up again. And some part of the trail was muddy, so when the elephant took a step, we swayed up there, whew! pretty scary. After the ride, we caught up with our funny, well spoken tour guide Nui fallen asleep sitting on a chair with his head up, mouth wide open that look like he's waiting for something to fall into his mouth, only, his eyes were closed, hilarious! Overall, we had a great time.

Yes, that Lone Cypress tree in California is one of my favorite pic I took. I had it enlarged, framed and hanged in our living room. Such a beautiful tree and place to go, whenever you have the chance to travel to the Peninsula in Monterey California, stop by during sunset time. It has a huge deck where you can sit and just enjoy this breathtaking view for as long as you want.

You're welcome Mike, that's how much I like this site, otherwise I wouldn't share it to anyone. Right after this sending, I still have to find my college group site so I can link this to them too.
I'm doing well, thank you for asking. I do visit here daily but not posting regurlarly. Now that holidays are here, I have lots of time to read different topics that interests me and replies if it suits me well. And even without holidays, I will make sure to keep myself updated.
I will never get tired of thanking you for making this site, obviously there are many boholanos became friends like real families, you're the best!
I envy whoever can make it to the TB EB soon. Wish you all the success.
And O, hey Paul Vistal, PM me please, just wondering if we're classmates in DWC (HNU) HS.

Why would I marry for money if I can find and save my own? duh.
When I met my husband, I had no conception how much he has, all I knew was he liked and cared for me a lot better than anyone else. And so I said yes to tie the knot. Everytime I said "it's your money" he replied back to me and said "no it's ours". It took me quite a long time to realize that's how much he truly loves and cares for me which made me loves and cares for him more and more day by day. Living comfortably and not owing anybody are the best life to live for us especially when we enjoyed a lot of things doing together like sports and travelling, in other words we have lots in common and of course the love of the whole family. That's what matters more than anything else.
So when it comes to money? why worry? after all, it's only money and we can't bring that along with us when we die anyway!

Conde Nast Traveler picks Palawan
The Manila Times

Palawan was voted as the tourist destination with the Best Beaches in Asia by American magazine Conde Nast Traveler in its Great Asian Beach Finder review. In addition to underwater rivers and impressive coral formations, the province was cited for its powdery beaches, charming coves and interesting islets.

Conde Nast Traveler is one of the pioneering and most respected tourism publications in the world, catering to high-end luxury tourists and adventure seekers.

“Palawan is undoubtedly one of the Philippines’ prized jewels. This achievement validates the collaborative efforts of the department, the local government and the private sector in preserving and promoting the country’s nature attractions,” said Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano, when he learned about the good news.

For Conde Nast Traveler, the beaches of Palawan bested other first-rate destinations in the Asian region including Beach No. 7 on Havelock Island, India; the Nihiwatu Beach in Indonesia; and the Laem Tong Bay in Koh Phi Phi, Thailand, which was made famous by the Hollywood movie The Beach when it was picked as the principal location for the film. Palawan also bested the shores of Baa, North Ari and North Male Atolls in Maldives.

Among the Palawan attractions cited was the Tubbataha Reef Marine Park, located southeast of Puerto Princesa. The ecosystem is made up of two atolls that lie on a line of extinct underwater volcanoes and is a sanctuary for marine life. The publication also noted the St. Paul Subterranean River, which boasts of nature-made limestone sculptures. Both the reef and the underground river are listed under the World Heritage Sites of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).

Conde Nast Traveler further explored the wonders of the Miniloc Island Resort and the world-famous private resort of Amanpulo.

Sorry if I will be out of topic here. This Church SAN ANTONIO DE PADUA caught my eye, can't help myself to recognize and tell you that my husband and I went to this church in Padua, Italy. This saint, San Antonio was also buried in that church. It has an astonishing.. magnificent.. decorated marble tomb and surrounded by pictures of children from different parts of the world maybe because he's The Saint for Children. I guess asking petitions for them. We bought a candle, right next to it and gave it to our friend back home who's son is surviving for brain tumor.
Just an unforgetable previledged to see St. Anthony of Padua for real.

I started going to "Simbang Gabi" in Tagbilaran when I was in grade school along with my Godparents but I never completed. Then, when I was in college, one of my friend Liza told me to make a wish and if I completed the entire simbang gabi mass from De.16 up to Christmas eve, it will come true. And so I did year before I graduated and yes indeed my wish came true. Years after that I tried again but didn't complete, can't help myself to get up that early everyday, obviously my wish never came real.
Then I moved to Manila to work, there was once where I completed simbang gabi again, I made a wish and again it came true, isn't something! That's how I truly believe the wonders of my faith every "simbang gabi". Unfortunately, where I live now, there's no series of "simbang gabi" only on Christmas Eve and that's about it. But that's ok, God knows the depth of my faith in him, so I'm ok!

Ladies and Gentlemen gud day! Just got back from a long journey, though not feeling well yet but can't help myself to post a message, it's fun!
Everyone..HELLO! did you notice what PreciousNP...is doing? She's posting a message that she knows it's pretty bad. She took her chances...you know why?.....SHE'S JEALOUS! and if you try to think about it... "SHE'S THE EXACT PERSON ABOUT THE TOPIC EXPAT" and she knows it. She just turned the corner and talked about beautiful filipinas marrying foreigners.
Watch guys, she'll reply back. And when she does, it will not be too nice to read. If she won't, she'll think of another way to you get again next time. For me, i just have to sit back and relax makes myself feel better. I'll just check and read any updates here in TB once in awhile.

People are afraid period. So don't blame them if they're only up to rumors. Which I truly understand it's not just proctecting themselves but their entire family. These whole stories about the Mayor doesn't end up to him only. There's more into it which means there's more people who are involve. And the scariest part is that, one of them is a Philippine alien.

I have a reply to this I found it very underminding as an American and in the local media to be expected to help in other area's but was not informed of my own ambassador coming to Bohol.
Oh and by the way the letter about the Peace, and human rights was written by my own district representative Congressman Brian Baired as he is also the first signer as well. I am really beginning to feel that many persons are with holding information as crab mentality reeks around here to no end.
I would of really of liked to meet my ambassador maybe I could of enlightened her on more subjects.
Some media outlets are very unfair and greedy they always text that they are needing news from everyone but when something as neat as my ambassador comes along I was not informed and neither was my editor.
Even the last Alarma meeting was not sending invitations of venue.
Knock of the crud media persons and work in unity and get along.
I am not impressed as my country is way at the top.
Maybe this project will get into corrupted hands in the future as it usually ends up doing here.
I have stated my mind and those of you who were around here and did not notice my presence around her during the event would have been nice for you guys to give me a text to let me know that she was there. I could of met her and invited her back here. I have never been mean to any of you?
How odd the local American media Priscilla is not around at this event or did the thought not occur in your little brown heads?
I fummed about this for many hours when i had heard about it a day later.
No i do not want to be friendly about anything anymore.
It gets one no where around here.

Ya, that's quite odd?!? As a Fil-Am myself I would also be insulted. I have a feeling some of your co-media people in Bohol doesn't like you because of your honesty that might have gotten into their nerves. It's a shame, really.
But please don't let this stop you... I beg you to continue what you are doing, I think you are one of a kind hardworking media person. Boholanos need someone like you.

Mine is Italy. A bit anxious yet happy because finally I'll be there on tuesday. Rome, Florence and Venice are the main attractions in this country. And i'll go a little bit of the countryside of Venice which is Padua. I will miss Tubag Bohol site for two weeks and set aside all my anger and frustrations about these rediculous, frustrating happenings in my beloved Bohol that is haunting me night after night, at least for a little while in my vacay, I can be at peace.

Mohandis, I am a friendly proud boholana. Few years after I came to the US, I smiled everyone that look like filipina until one time..I smiled and I was shocked and embarrassed when she said to me " EXCUSE ME, DO I KNOW YOU?" so I said, "are you filipina?" and she said "NO I'M THAI!" that was the end of it. From that time on, I just waited if somebody will smile at me first. I learned my lesson.
So please don't think that "kung dili managad TNT sya", maybe next time pls. don't generalized, Ok!

Bank robbery suspect killed after release from city jail
By Chito O. Aragon
Cebu Daily News
Last updated 12:33pm (Mla time) 09/05/2007

Cebu City, Philippines - Minutes after his release from the Cebu City jail, robbery gang member Rodolfo Atega Jr. was shot dead on Tuesday night in a taxi cab he was riding with family members on their way to catch a boat ride home to Bohol province.

Shots fired by two gunmen on a motorcycle found their mark with startling precision.

Atega, 21, was shot twice in the head when the taxi suddenly stopped near a gas station along General Maxilom Avenue about 7:45 p.m.

None of the bullets hit the other passengers â€" Atega’s father in the front seat, his brother, cousin and girlfriend at the back seat with the victim.

The attack bore the signs of a gang rubout or an operation intended to silence any future testimony in court or revelations to the police by this member of the Casimiro “Meloy” Garcia robbery gang.

Atega had just posted P30,000 bail on robbery charges in connection with the August 21 Penbank heist in Mandaue City.

Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama said he was inclined to believe the killing was well planned by parties who did not want Atega to name the mastermind of the gang.

The robbery group was earlier linked to the robbery of La Nueva supermarket, Penbank in Mandaue City and other business establishments in Bohol and Cebu.

“How did (the killers) know he was posting bail? It’s too much of a coincidence. And we still don’t know who is their mastermind. Every robbery group has a financier. We can only presume who it is,” Rama said.

The vice mayor also criticized the failure to secure Atega as a potential witness.

“If he knew he was being run after, why didn’t he ask to be secured in going out of the jail?” asked the vice mayor. “He was a possible star witness who could bring out their mastermind. If the authorities knew this could happen, the PNP should have taken the initiative (to secure him).”

Atega, a native of San Miguel town in Bohol province, was on his way with family members to catch a 10 p. m. boat ride for Bohol.

When their taxi stopped near a traffic light in front of the Iglesia ni Cristo Church along General Maxilom Ave., shots were fired.

The shots came from the backrider of a motorcycle that had tailed the vehicle. Also on board the taxi were his father Atega Sr., elder brother Ryan, girlfriend Nenita and uncle Inocencio Manligis.

The victim’s father blamed jail authorities for ignoring their requests for an escort. He said the family had asked to be provided a security escort on their way to the port area, but their request was turned down.

“Hangyo mi sa mga gwardiya sa prisohan nga eskortan mi bisan sa pier lang, wa man sila manugot,” Atega said.

They had also asked to spend the night inside the Kalunasan City jail for their safety, but they were not allowed.

Atega Sr. said this was his second time to visit Cebu. On both occasions, one of his sons ended up dead.

His elder son Harris was killed in Sambag Dos when he visited Cebu in January.

“Kaduha nako niari ug Cebu, puro gipatay ang akong mga anak kada ari nako. Wa man unta koy record sa amo, wa pa gyod mi kahibaw unsay kapalaran sa among pamilya,” a teary-eyed Atega Sr. told Cebu Daily News (CDN).

Ryan, the brother, told CDN they had already noticed they were being followed by two men on a motorbike when the taxi was still at the vicinity of Redemptorist Church.

The family asked the taxi driver to go at full speed but when the taxi had to stop for a red light at the intersection of General Maxilom Avenue and D. Jakosalem St., the killers moved in.

Atega was arrested in Bohol province last Wednesday. He was earlier identified as one of those who robbed the PenBank branch in Mandaue City of P2.5 million on August 23. He was ordered released on Tuesday after he posted bail of P30,000.

Taxi driver Cerelino Alcordo, 35, said his five passengers hailed his taxi from the city jail in Barangay (village) Kalunasan and asked to be brought to Pier 3. Along General Maxilom Avenue, he was told to speed up to avoid the men following the taxi.

The driver said he wanted to maneuver a right turn near a gasoline station in D. Jakosalem Street, but the assailants were already too close.

He said the backrider started shooting at Atega who was seated in the left side of the taxi’s back seat. Atega was beside his girlfriend Nenita.

The taxi driver said he slumped down in his chair and used the handbrake to stop the car. Then he heard more gunfire.

When his taxi stopped, the two assailants disembarked and fired through the window at Atega.

“Pwerti hinigoa kay si Atega raman ang naigo. Walay napagan (They were good shooters because they only hit Atega. No one else was wounded),” Alcordo said.

Homicide investigator Buenaventura Ursaiz said Atega sustained two bullet wounds in the head. Several empty shells of a .9mm pistol were recovered at the crime scene.

The gunman who was the backrider wore a green T-shirt and blue pants, and was about 5'8” in height. The motorcycle driver was about 5'4 tall and was wearing white T-shirt and faded pants.

After the shooting, the two killers boarded their motorcycle and drove off towards the reclamation area.

Mobile Patrol Group operator Angelo Zambo said policemen were unable to chase the culprits because no one gave a clear description of them or their getaway vehicle.

Chief Superintendent Silverio Alarcio Jr. dismissed speculation that the shooting was the handiwork of the police or vigilantes. He said a police investigation will still have to be conducted.

Meloy Garcia and five of his cohorts were arrested in Bohol following a robbery of the Bank of Commerce in Tagbilaran City, where a security guard was killed. They were arrested and charged with robbery with homicide but police said other gang members, including the group’s financier and mastermind, were still at large.

It's happening..., this was what i'm afraid of, one by one these robbers who were caught..will be killed... to shot their mouth up...so they won't be able to reveal who paid them to do their job. Somebody has got to do something.

There are medicines for bipolar now, it's pretty much treatable. I think he's panicking now with anxiety and remorse for accepting rewards. He thought the money he got from somebody will pretty much stay him on top and be able to control everything through his power in that office.

Philippine Business News / Re: Six rob suspects fall
September 06, 2007, 04:07:17 AM
Even if they will catch all of them but never investigte and ask the main source who paid these people, robbery problems will never be solve, because this "main source" can still hire another robber and pay more money..can't you see!
And also, nobody cited a report saying that the mayor was interferring on where these robbers will be held prison. Is that his job to decide where to put them? Something is wrong there!
What i'm hoping now is a thorough investigtion and ask them who's their main source? And millions of money they robbed, where did it go?
