a TOUCHING STORY..I'd like to share...

Good day everyone,

I wish I were writing under differentcircumstances.

I would like to inform you that my wife Leslie Cruz

was part of the casualties in the Glorietta 2 Mall

bombing in Makati City, Philippines. She was supposed

to have a minor out patient surgery at Makati Medical Center at 230pm.

I had taken a leave from work to accompany her there.

We dropped off our daughter, Amber, at my parents place in QC to babysit at around 10am. We then proceeded to Makati and was there at1230pm. Since she had been fasting in preparation for
her procedure,

she wanted to move around and listen to some music while I grabbed a bite to eat. We parked at
the basement of Park Square 2, and headed for the Glorietta 2 entrance.

We parted at the top of the escalator, she turned right towards Filbar's while I went left towards the restaurants.

That was the last time I would see her.

Around 120pm, she had called me so that we can meet at the Glorietta 2 exit just in time to make her appointment.

As I made my way there from Glorietta 1 through the connecting hallways, and was about to turn the corner, I heard 2 deep thumps and the shock-wave from the blast hit me.

At that moment my heart dropped as I knew that the origin of the blast came from the same place where we were supposed to meet.

I tried getting to where my wife was, but the dust was too much and it was as if I was staring at a white wall. I still tried to convince myself that she was able to make it out, and that after ringing
her mobile without a response only meant that she dropped it in the confusion .

After 6 hours of searching from Makati Med. to Ospital ng Makati, the blast site, and back again to MMC - with the help of all the people I could get hold of, that I was able to get confirmation in what the state of my wife was.

My Dad and Uncle signaled me in from the ER of MMC.

My Uncle (who's a doctor) asked me to describe Leslie's appearance to another group of doctors. I saw in the eyes of one that the description made sense. Instead of confirming it to me, they huddled together, then brought me to a small examination room.

It was only through a digital camera that I was able to confirm (and deny) that she was indeed gone.

I have so many regrets. I should have met her sooner.

I should have ran instead of a brisk walk.

I should have not chose to park where I did.

I should have braved the dust and went in the blast site.

I should have ...

Today's the 4th day. It is still terribly difficult to breathe, let alone wake up realizing that your source of strength, your best friend doesn't lie beside you on your bed.

That my deepest worry is when Amber starts asking for her Mama.

I am glad that Amber's too young to understand the loss and pain. In time I would like to tell her the details of how her mother died, but more importantly I would like to raise her as how her mother lived â€" a loving person, strong willed, decisive, caring, and nurturing . She has always cared for her family and friends, and sacrfied her career for being a full time mom and home maker.

As with all couples we had our ups and downs - none of which I regret not going through. The sweet is never as sweet without the sour.

For almost 4 years of marriage, we've finally hit our balance in life only to be taken away in an instant. I have no regrets about our marriage. She has loved me and Amber beyond her capacity. I will always love her.

It is my first time to write to a group as I've lurked and watched emails being sent to and
fro. All I want now is that for each of the couples here is to cherish each moment that we spend with our loved ones. Pretty simple to say, very easy to take for granted.

Thank you all for the prayers. I would still like to ask you to please include Leslie in them until her 40th day so that the path to God's kingdom is well lit and she is no longer in the dark.

Sincerely,

Carlo Cruz

When I went back to Cebu last weekend, I found out this stuff along my trip...

I was so dismay about this people who do the PALAY DRYING at the street... dili ba ang dalan is AGI-ANAN? Some of the folks are drying some rice at the street which bother the passers, may cause accident, & may delay the travel. Some of it are occupying the whole one lane of the road... as in grabeh na kaayo sah? This usually happened during sa harvest seasons... as in super duper maka irita sya, and would rather cause accident because some of them are putting there Palay at the Blind Curve section which is very piligro?! Could the DPWH responsible for this?

Can anybody help this on how to solve this problem? This happen to our province (BOHOL)...

here are some of the pictures i have taken pag agi nako... this is SIERRA BULLONES - CARMEN & CARMEN-SAGBAYAN pictures... for sure, other municipalities are doin this also such as Batuan, Bilar & ect...

"PALAY DRYING ON THE STREET @ THE BLIND CURVE SECTION"

"A PIC OF PALAY DRYING AT THE STREET"

"PALAY DRYING ON THE STREET, THEY ARE OCCUPYING THE WHOLE 1 LANE"

FROM MY FRIENDSTER PROFILE - PARA CONSISTENT

About Me:

I am basically an artistically-inclined person, very appreciative of the simple, but beautiful things in life. I like a bit of fashion (:-), even in my own simple ways (after meeting many people, I have learned that "taste" or "glamor" is not in the price - it's in the poise and bearing, also according to Madonna).

For so many years, I have been involved in endeavors or undertakings for the preservation and promotion of culture and the arts and tourism (probably because of my love for humanities and my ultimate dream of going to Europe, which, up to now, remains an elusive dream). I am equally supportive of / I love organizing writing, speaking, spelling, dancing contests and beauty pageants for young people and I am bent on pursuing this as my personal mission for self-actualization.  I remember before I was a contestant in all those events (winning some, losing some - part of the learning process), but now I have been given the privilege to be a judge... I believe that God has a purpose for everything that happens in our lives.

My 10-year-old daughter AJ Wincielou Johanna "Cielo" (a Grade 5 pupil of Holy Spirit School) shares with my interests in communication arts, social studies, humanities and geography, though she takes after her Papa Jerome for the "love" of mathematics and science.

Most of all, I am very proud of my loving husband Jerome John and my darling daughter Cielo, my most-cherished blessings from God, and for Papa Rep (Derclo Reparato Bongoyan Araoarao, Tagbilaran City and Danao, Panglao, Bohol - former Philippine Banking Corporation employee and mayor of Panglao, Bohol in 1980-1986 who taught us to be honest always in all our dealings with people), Mama Wincie (Wincesa Balatero Espejo Araoarao, Manhattan, New York and Tagbilaran City, Bohol - the very dedicated Physical Education teacher of Bohol National High School and founder of the Bukang Liwayway Dance Troupe whose artistic passion, generosity, and dedication to duty greatly influenced us), my brother Reparato Anthony "Ondoy" (nurse, The Methodist Hospital in Texas, USA)- with Gracelyn Shiela (Gallego - Tubal) and Baby Reese Lauren in Pearland, Texas - and sisters Ann Claire "Bibby" (serving in the United States Army) - with Jabron (M. Young), Jalen Matthew, Jayla Marie and Jordan Michael in Petersburg, Virginia - and Coeli Marie "Chelli" (website designer and artist) -with Seth Vincent and Alex (Ruiz) in Tampa, Florida. I also cherish fond memories of Lola Pining (Josefina Mercader  Balatero) - class valedictorian of St. Joseph College (now Holy Spirit School) in 1938, Lolo Aloy (Hilario Araro Espejo) - former barangay captain of Cogon, Tagbilaran in the late '50s and my younger sister Hannah Gay...

Being brought up in a poor family, Papa Rep, Mama Wincie, my brother Ondoy and my sisters Bibby and Chelli and I believe that money is important, but IT'S NOT EVERYTHING IN LIFE. You cannot buy talent and it's one of the many things that we are so thankful to God for.

Money can't buy happiness. There are other "things," the so-called "intangibles" that matter like spiritual enrichment, love and harmony in the family, respect, the blessings of good health, and true friends.

Also, I believe that one doesn't have to speak Filipino, the national language, to be "patriotic" or "nationalistic," or that "ang mga 'pobre' dili angay nga magpadaug-daug sa mga adunahan"... We all have equal opportunities in life if we just work hard...Anyway, we have different paths to tread...

I hope that people, especially the financially-privileged, will look around, realize and put into practice generosity by sharing their blessings with the less-fortunate...I tell you, there are a lot of things you can do to help the needy...

Since my elementary years, I 've always aspired to travel abroad, see the most spectacular places on earth in my lifetime, but till now, I am still stuck here in Bohol...nevertheless, I am doing my best to make use and share with others what I have...

When I am gone, I wish my loved ones and friends would remember me as the Miss Tagbilaran 1987 who became City Information Officer of Tagbilaran City...

Lastly, I believe that one doesn't have to enter politics / be a politician to be able to help other people. If you want to help, do it whenever you can, whenever you have the chance...

Who I Want to Meet:

I would like to re-connect with my family, relatives - ARAOARAO, ESPEJO, BONGOYAN, and BALATERO clans, friends, former classmates in the elementary (HSS), high school (BNHS) and college, even masteral days (DWC-T); unpretentious and sincere people; TAGBILARANONS, PANGLAOANONS, BOHOLANOS and FILIPINOS who have gone to establish themselves in other provinces in the Philippines and even in foreign soils whose lives serve as inspiration to others. Also, I want to network with individuals and associations or entities sharing with my passion for culture and the arts; young people who have exhibited remarkable talents and boundless potentials who are willing to share interesting insights and could become good role models in our contemporary society because I firmly believe that our young generation needs good role models. I also want to meet my husband's relatives from SIQUIJOR, SIQUIJOR (the GABINS and the JUMAWANS) and those who are now settled in other provinces; and beauty queens as well.

Hi Fiel...! musta, been a long time... ingatz always...

'The Magnificent Seven'
Capital diocese to ordain its largest group of priests in decades

Some got the calling young in life, others later. One has a doctorate in engineering. The one thing they all have in common -- joy in joining the priesthood today in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento. From left: Jovito Rata, George Snyder Jr., Chris Frazer, Derek LaBranch, Uriel Ojeda, Matthew Blank and Giovanni Gamas.

They have been called "The Magnificent Seven," a reflection of the size of the group and their significance to the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento.

These men make up the largest number of new priests to be ordained here in more than four decades -- and among the most by any diocese in the country this year.

This morning, they will don the vestments that symbolize their commitment to the church in an elaborate ordination ceremony and celebration at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

They trained to be priests in the midst of the recent turmoils of the Catholic Church. Several entered seminary in 2002 -- the year the national clergy sexual abuse scandal erupted. Accusations and costly settlements stained the church.

But the calling for these men -- Matthew Blank, Chris Frazer, Giovanni Gamas, Derek LaBranch, Uriel Ojeda, Jovito Rata, and George Snyder Jr.-- rose above this acrimony.

Now, after years of training and more rigorous screening than priests of previous generations, the seven will prostrate themselves at the cathedral and begin a new life as the church enters a new era.

"All the troubles of recent years made them examine if this is what they really want, and they do," said Bishop William K. Weigand, spiritual leader of the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento. "They're going into this with their eyes wide open. They're an exceptional group."

"The Magnificent Seven" nickname -- given to them by church leaders -- embarrasses the men, and several laugh when asked about it. They are much more comfortable talking about the priesthood. It's a life they know many people don't understand.

Two answered the call to the ministry in their 30s after years in the work force. Three made their decision to become priests as teenagers. And two others say they felt the presence of divine intervention as children.

"I knew, I just knew," said Rata, 29, who says he has wanted to be a priest since he was 6.

Why someone would choose the priesthood is a mystery to some people, unthinkable to others. But these men are joyfully prepared to take vows of celibacy and obedience, serve others and work long days that often begin with an early morning Mass and end with nightly meetings. They will earn about $950 a month.

"I've been searching all my life for this. I've truly been blessed," says Snyder, 38, who was active at St. Vincent Ferrer Parish in Vallejo before entering the seminary.

Snyder said his family members had mixed feelings about his decision. "They said, 'You already do enough for the church.' But I told them, 'This is what I was meant to do.' " Now, he said, they are his biggest supporters.

Frazer, 28, was baptized a Methodist and converted to Catholicism in the eighth grade. Raised in the Lincoln and Roseville area, he attended Jesuit High School where he first considered becoming a priest. He said the scandals only made him more certain.

"It just made it clearer," he said. "The church needs more good priests, and I hope that I can be one."

Fewer men are finding life in a clerical collar appealing. In 2007, 466 men will be ordained for the priesthood in the United States, according to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

That's more than a 50 percent drop since 1965 when 994 men took their sacred oaths. The number of Catholics in the United States has increased to about 70 million, making it the largest faith group in the country.

"We need more priests, that's clear and simple," says Sister Mary Ann Walsh, spokeswoman for the USCCB. "There are communities without priests, there are dioceses that haven't ordained in years."

As he prepares for ordination, LaBranch, 28, thinks about his pastor, -- the late Rev. Richard Doheny of St. Mel Parish in Fair Oaks -- who asked him to consider life in the priesthood. LaBranch realizes how influential priests can be.

"It's a huge responsibility. Believe me, I think about it every day," he says.

They are a close group. There's a constant buzz of conversation when they're together, even some jokes in Latin.

well st.agnes.that is very sad to hear. But as what I said life has to go on,dili lang ikaw ang sad sa nahitabo, why not make yourself as a santa for all of your family...santa to give joy and happiness, kay sila pod nagsubo sa nahitabo.Share what you can than taking what you'll have for this season of love. There are things that need to be considered...as "considering inconsiderables to be considered",that was my words sa una pa,and now I'm going to share that specially sa akong mga friends.I know dili lalim ang mawad-an ug Papa, and the more dili lalim ang magdaku without Papa.......so we have to be thankful instead nga hangtod nagdaku ta,naay Papa nga nakigbisog para mulambo atong kaugman...the way nga nawala siya,it means God needs him,ug naay rason nga ang atong Ginoo lang ang nakahibalo.Let us be thankful to our dear Lord nga sa kadaghang katuyigan gipahulam niya ang life sa atong Papa,okey?..Merry Christmas dear. And continue doing what you did before, kay wherever hi is,surely naa siya nag-tan-aw..be happy ,aron he will go to his distination freely and happy.

THANK YOU... :)

whew! its Christmas nasad? gush! murag dili man ko excited... maybe because, I am not that happy as before... somebody is lacking... this would be my second year, having a Christmas without my dad... The usual thing we did before on  Christmas Eve was, we will be having a family gathering, have our dinner together, have some programs which ang mga apo nila papa was participating, even a 4 year old kid did a part of the program, mag MANITO-MANITA, then giving of surprise gifts from Abroad... as in super duper happy kaayo before among Christmas...  Last year, we celebrated Christmas  with  just a simple dinner nalang together sa whole family.. cause my dad died man gud last March 2006. as in mingaw jud sya... and gimingaw sad kaayo ko sa akong papa...

Be ready to meet patients who will be combative as well, Agnes. Ive precepted long enough in the ER to see how brutally rude patients can be, and seen nurses forced to sedate them by the order of the physician (as the patient not only can harm him/herself, but the medical providers as well). Hope your clinical experience is enjoyable, and I'm inspired that more nurses are as optimistic in the nursing field as you are. Good! Very good! And may you carry that spirit always in your noble profession!

I learned that patients always have the right...

right to refused their medication...

right not to eat..

right to say no to any requests...

Agnes, schizophrenics are different from other mentally ill people...

they are heavily sedated, she may be very tired or sometimes they are very lethargic ...

so you may let her do something instead of drawing...

why not show her pictures instead of having her draw?

Dear, we nurses are not there to cure but to help...

if she dont want to do something, leave her alone, it her right...

just keep an eye on her, she wont stub you...

keep up the good work, i admired your patience...

and i personally thank you in behalf of her family...
[/color][/b]

yeah, Im preparing for  her some pictures today, para ipa tan-aw nya and instead of drawing, I would just let her ask unsa iya ika sulti about sa pic... I've been trying to help evryone in the hospital, just simply remind them evryday sa ilang dapat buhaton, like maligo, manglipyo, manghugas sa kamot before mag eat, mag pray & mag toothbrush... simple lang pero I think these will help... Its a very nice feeling gyud if maka convience ka ug patient to do something which sa uban gani nga student nurse dili sila magpatoo...
#2752

About Me

roots: from Pilar, Republic of Bohol

PERSONALITY TYPE: INTJ
(Introvert-iNtuitive-Thinking-Judging)

An erstwhile decathlete in the Makati and Cebu corporate rat race, I have stopped catching my breath since then.

Running in the rain, skinny dipping in the moonlight, eating cheesecake and driving in the countryside are gold medals, owning a Van Gogh is platinum, big-time!

Balanced diet, regular exercise, travel and photography, and teaching kids are the elixer of life, the fountain of youth.

Opening doors and offering seats to women and elderly are still hip. Chivalry is still alive!

The smiles of children and the eyes of infants are their gifts to the world.

Widening my horizon means--leaving the country and gaining a multi-cultural perspective and experience in education.

I am proud of my heritage. I still do not lose hope that one day The Philippines will rise to greatness. *stop smiling or i'll pin you down*

My ultimate dream is--to work with UNICEF. *sigh*

In spite of my high venturesome spirit, I am headstrong in my decisions and will sweat bullets, eat and spit fire if necessary.

The pelting sound of the rain is poetry reading to me, the laughter of children are music to my ears.

I have low tolerance toward negative and stubborn people.

Finally, I AM A WORK IN PROGRESS, subject to mood swings from dry to wet season.

Introduce Yourself / Re: How Is Your Day?
October 11, 2007, 04:33:56 PM
just got this email...

To:  ABC To the producers of "Desperate Housewives" and ABC:

We are writing to express concern and hurt about a racially-discriminatory comment made in an episode of Desperate Housewives on 9/30/07. In a scene in which Susan was told by her gynecologist that she might be hitting menopause, she replied, "Can I just check those diplomas because I just want to make sure that they are not from some med school in the Philippines."

As members and allies of the Filipino American community, we are writing to inform know that this type of derogatory remark was discriminatory and hurtful, and such a comment was not necessary to maintain any humor in the show. Additionally, a statement that devalues Filipinos in healthcare is extremely unfounded, considering the overwhelming presence of Filipinos and Filipino Americans in the medical field. Filipinos are the second largest immigrant population in the United States, with many entering the U.S. (and successfully passing their U.S. licensing boards!) as doctors, nurses, and medical technicians. In fact, the Philippines produces more U.S. nurses than any other country in the world. So, to belittle the education, experience, or value of Filipino Americans in health care is extremely disrespectful and plain and simply ignorant. Many of the hospitals in major metropolitan areas of the U.S. (and the world) would not be able to operate without its Filipino and Filipino American staff members.

As Filipino Americans and allies, we band together to ensure that this type of hateful message should not be allowed to continue on our television and radio airwaves. Given the recent amounts of media attention that has been given to Michael Richards (against African Americans), Isaiah Washington (against gays), and Rosie O'Donnell (against Asian/ Chinese Americans), it is ridiculous that this type of hateful speech made it through various screenwriters, the show's producers, the show's actors, and ABC itself.

We demand a public apology to the Filipino American community, and we demand the episode be edited to remove the ignorant and racist remark. We will not allow hateful messages against our community (or any other oppressed community) to continue.

we will be assign there for a week...
so it means to say, no emails, friendster, Tubag Bohol, or so we say internet for a week... and that would be boring, right? and on the other side, maybe, it would be beneficiary to us, cause we have a lot of time to study our lessons ther... cause on the weekend--- we will be havin our Midterm... Heaven - Bryan Adams

Oh, thinkin' about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
Now nothin' can take you away from me
We've been down that road before
But that's over now
You keep me comin' back for more

CHORUS:
Baby you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

Oh, once in your life you find someone
Who will turn your world around
Bring you up when you're feelin' down
Yeah, nothin' could change what you mean to me
Oh, there's lots that I could say
But just hold me now
'Cause our love will light the way

CHORUS

I've been waitin' for so long
For somethin' to arrive
For love to come along
Now our dreams are comin' true
Through the good times and the bad
Yeah, I'll be standin' there by you

CHORUS
