Bible Study / Re: ELI, ELI, lama sabachthani?
December 28, 2010, 01:16:06 PM
Jesus quoted His own words, which He had inspired His servant David to put into writing a thousand years before this day, when He cried, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" (Psalm 22:1). By repeating it as He hung on the stake, He declared this prophecy to be fulfilled at that very moment; the absolute peak of the agony that He and His Father had planned and foreknew had arrived. Even in His delirium, the utterances of the Logos were solidly based upon His own Word!

Psalm 27

1 The LORD is my light and my salvationâ€"
  whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my lifeâ€"
of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked advance against me
  to devour me,
it is my enemies and my foes
  who will stumble and fall.

3 Though an army besiege me,
  my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
even then I will be confident.

Question and Answer / Re: Are Suicide Bombers Insane?
December 28, 2010, 10:58:51 AM
Wisdom precedes you, aquarius. To explode one's self in the name of God with the explicit motive of killing others in the process is abhor-able and abominable.

The Muslims that do these acts have not read well into the Q'uran and in reference to Al-Qitab (the people of the book). A good muslim would heed one of the commandments in the Old Testament (Tanakh, Old Testament Bible) that says, "Thou Shalt Not Kill".

It is ushered in the Q'uran as well:

"Do not kill any human' soul whom Allah has forbidden."
Surah Al-Ana'm (6:151-153)

hehe, indeed there is a plenitude of 'blooming artists' in a psychiatric ward. i was on-call in the psych ward couple of weeks ago; the ideation of whole lot of these patients that claim to be avant-garde, quixotic in the least. Van Gogh also tore one of his ears off during one of his psychotic attacks. ;)

Dimiao - Bohol / Re: Why do you love Dimiao
December 27, 2010, 10:59:49 PM
hehehe i can spot the difference a little bit. I was not in Lila long enough to hear their intonations, just from friends and workers that are from Dimiao. One of our house workers in Valencia is from Dimiao. Her accent is akin to the Valencianon accent (particularly in the baranggays close to Dimiao).
Dimiao is a cute town, and I do enjoy stopping by their market place to chit chat with the folks. Dimiao will always have a fond place in my heart.

When I returned home to Bohol this July 2010, I found out that our Isuzu Crosswind was in 'standard' module. I never knew how to drive in standard (am used to driving automatic), so my cousin Joseph Salvo took the truck with me and showed me the basics of driving. By Canmanico, Valencia he got out of the driver's seat and told me to take over. SO i did. From there I drove my truck out of Valencia and through Dimiao Town. It was in Dimiao that I perfected my 'standard' driving skills. lol.

Aup Aup is a great place, I went there with my uncle during a break from this year's Maribojoc Cock Derby (our attendance required our 12 hour commitment). However, during the evening, we drove past the plaza central of Maribojoc and into their pantalan where we had dinner at Aup Aup. A very nice local restaurant. Good fish tinola, sinugba, luto, and cold san miguel. :)

Addendum:

For patients with psychotic disorders such as generalized panic disorders, we are advised to recommend they attend psychotherapy with licensed psychotherapists and or regular psychiatric consultation.

Dear _____________,

I look at your picture from time to time. And it haunts me, eerily and coldy, it still does. Your green eyes has this ability to melt my heart, and it pains me that I can never kiss your moist pink lips ever again. To hold your mouth close to mine and smell the very breath of your being. To inhale your essence into my own and mingle it. I hate how that I used to crave you daily and nightly. I hate how you drove me insane as you did many many years ago.

Will I ever be totally free from your grasp? Yes, i believe so, however, i cannot say that I would want to completely free my mind of you.

I admit, there were beautiful memories that we shared, such somber resolve, to know that such a beauty and such ecstacy is beyond my grasp.

I pray you find a man more deserving than I.

:P Yeah I know but is not what I say everybody said that after the second travel to philippines I came back very different. too much changed. lol my mother when I landed in Madrid saw me and in 2 minutes already said "What happened there?" "You won´t go there anymore" XD my friends said I am not the same one, that somebody changed myself for other Ricky lol and my ex gf´s says the same so definitely something changed inside me there for good or for bad and the worst part I found out is that...

Right away I meet a girl here I start to scan her, to listen reaaaally carefully, observe what she does, how she behaves, what she says, trying to find "red flags" Lol I never did that before in my life hahaha I do it not in purpose it´s uncounsciusly XD and the first minimal little detail I do not like I discard her or end the relation before going further. As well as a colateral effect I am less talkative to people I do not know and a girl I am dating since some time ago but not a formal relationship, said I was before very sweet and caring and now I am an Iceman with no emotions at all with a cold heart, just really distant and cold, and maybe she is right :( do not know why happened all that but happened.

So it´s difficult for me to get involved in a relationship as before as I always will find something to untrust them, I hope with the time I get back to the old me and can trust the people as easy as before but it´s beeing hard...and well at least I have plenty of funny experiences to tell the people of my travels sa pinas lol, even if I see them funny thinking carefully I was reaaaaaally lucky nothing bad happened to me cause I did plenty of stupid things there but seems I had a hidden angel while I was there :D

So for the moment I do not have any more GF lol

Ricky, it seems that you were really hurt back in Cebu, and I'm really sorry to hear that this affected you. I can't begin to imagine the experience that you went through, or had felt, because each experience is unique from person to person. One thing is true tho, my friend, is that trust is essential in a relationship. When that essential trust is broken, erroded, it changes everything. It can almost be traumatic especially when we put alot of emotional, physical, and financial investment in a relationship, dreams are created, futures are planned out, and in the end, it comes falling down to pieces. Its effect is absolute.

It is natural if we take it hard, and increase our defenses , its perfectly natural. Ricky, no one wants to be hurt, let alone be abused and used in such a way that would hurt our inner most being. This pain, this feeling of mistrust is a reaction to a hurt we experience.
My only advice to you, while being sensitive to your situation, is to date openly. There is a liberating feeling of seeing women on the side and not witholding any attachments to them, emotionally. I know how it is like to feel betrayed, and dreams falling short. In college, I dated a woman who I had emulsified my whole heart to, and then to find out that I was giving too much. The feelings were not mutual, and the pain of moving on and coming to terms with our phasing out was painful. It affected me in such a way that I became rather serious and closed off to relationships, a sense of mistrust on women in general. Then i started to realize that the reasons for this was because of my innate goodness. One tends to get taken advantage when one is 'Too Nice'. Its just the truth. Being too nice, too helpful, has its bad points; one gets taken advantage of. So I developed a tougher skin, decided to play the 'game' for a while. for once. I dated different women every week, developed physical relationships yet at the same time not developing any emotional attachments. It felt good. Quite liberating.

Thats how i moved on from my past relationship failure. You live and move on. And in time, we can learn to start trusting again. But give it some time. In the mean time. Enjoy yourself, and your single life. Don't be afraid to play around, don't be afraid to live life. You are young, handsome, and free. Take advantage of it.

You're a good guy. You will, in time, find that good girl to compliment you. In time.

Cheers. Regards!

Hypocrite to the fullest.

Citizen Panfilo Lacson should return to the Philippines and surrender himself to authorities, considering he has been ordered to surrender himself to the Philippine Government and a warrant for his arrest has been filed in Interpol.

Hypocritical fool, the audacity of the man to criticize the church about conscience, yet he himself is guilty of murder and violating national laws of the Philippines.

Philippine Laws / Re: Cheaper Medicines Law
December 27, 2010, 12:06:59 AM
Medicines in the Philippines are very cheap as compared to the standard here in the United States.
Let alone, there is no such thing as prescription medicine.
Anyone can go to a pharmacy and purchase antibiotics, anti-eliptics, beta-blockers, diuretics etc.

In the United States, drugs are either: 1) over the counter 2) prescription required. It is illegal and a Federal as well as a State offense to give prescription medicines to patients without a formal order from a physician.

#26054

Dear Tubag Bohol,

I prepared a little video for you all , a glimpse of the city that I have recently called 'home'. As part of my transition to my move to Chicago, Illinois, the bike trails here have been a way for me to explore the city, relieve stress, and a form of personal enjoyment (I love to cycle and an avid cyclist). The trails here in Chicago are built and designed for city dwellers as well as for those who love to cycle for fun.

The Bike trail here, which runs all the way throughout Lake Shore Drive (North and South) traverses about 30 miles and stretches from northern Chicago to the south side.

Enjoy, and welcome to Chicago!

My car was  jumping on the ditch 2 times, wihout realizing I was driving passed 85. I don't have experience taking care of sick people....I am scared!!!

I realized in life a situation arrives when you have no choice but to do what you believe is right!

I am taking care of my estranged husband! He was in the Philippines starting a new life when all of a sudden he was diagnosed with pancreatic disorders at St. Luke's Medical Ctr. He has to come home for more examinations only to find out he got stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Please pray for him that may God help him with his sufferings, in accordance with His will and time.

hehehe! that is so true, Garlit. I find it so interesting how the older generation say that, in fact, I find myself saying it too, especially when I was in Bohol this summer. How powerful is the force of observational learning. lol

One thing I find quite uniquely Bolanon is the use of 'Ondoy' as a term for endearment, instead of 'Dong'.

In Leyte and Cebu, its common to hear the people use 'Dong...' etc etc.

In Iloilo, and Negros Occidental they use, 'Toto...'

Pero in Bohol (especially in southern to eastern Bohol) they use Ondoy.

Kahinumdum ko sa una, when I was younger, my Lola Nating would call me, she would say, "Ari na, Ondoy Bran Bran, kaon na ta, La!"

Mo respond ko, "Unsa man gi luto nimo, Lola Nating?"

Respond pood sija, "Imong paborito, Ondoy! Pinakbet ug sabao nga baka..."

It is possible to specialize in Psychiatry & Internal Medicine, one would merely have to take 2 boards: the Internal Medicine Boards and Psychiatry Boards. An additional 2 years of residency.

I am interested in this. Considering how both fields coalesce.

Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

We know that the Lord does all things for good for those who love Him (Rom 8:28). This is a verse that plays through my head constantly, and as it is intended to do, often gives comfort and hope. It has been said that His promises are either true all of the time or none of the time, and I am convinced that the Lord’s Word is true and unwavering. I have never doubted the Lord’s faithfulness in upholding His part of the promise, my doubt is whether I am upholding my part.

My concern is that too often my love for Him isn’t love at all, but rather a self-centered dependence upon the Lord. Paul tells us to die to the self daily (1 Corinthians 15:31), thus we must recommit ourselves to the Lord constantly. Yet as we do this, we do it knowing that we will have an expected end, a greater reward in eternity. Now I realize that as we mature as Christians our commitment continues to be more Christ focused, and I have certainly found this to be true in my own life. Christ tells us that love is being willing to lay down our life for others (John 15:13). I do sincerely believe that if called to do so, through God’s grace, I would lay down my life for Christ. However, even in this seemingly sacrificial act, I would do so knowing that a greater eternity awaits me. Yet as Christ died for mankind, He gained nothing from it for Himself, but rather selflessly endured suffering for us. I wonder, would I be willing to make such a sacrifice if there was absolutely no benefit for me, eternal or otherwise?

Obviously we all make sacrifices for others, some even with their lives, but they are finite in comparison to eternity. Not coincidentally, there seems to be this a-priori understanding that there will be a reward for sacrifice, whether that remuneration is in this life or the next. But that comes around to my point; we are still doing this with some expectation of gain or appreciation. Can we say this is love? or in the end is it self motivated? Does our condition after the fall, our total depravity, allow us to sincerely love in this absolute and sacrificial way? Obviously it does, this being the final attribute of Christian maturity in 2 Peter 1:5-11. Therefore, does obtaining this characteristic finally bring us to perfection in Christ? If this is the final and most difficult step of the growing process, at what point can we rest in the promise of Romans 8:28? At what point can we truly say that we love the Lord?

The Nicest Present

Under the tree the gifts enthrall,
But the nicest present of them all
Is filling our thoughts with those who care,
Wanting our Christmas joy to share.
To you, whom we're often thinking of,
We send our holiday joy and love.

My reply:

(a poem that I never had the strength to send, but kept in my journals)

If I’d Never Met You
If I’d never met you,
I wouldn’t feel the pain
Of losing your sweet love;
I wouldn’t feel insane.
But if I’d never met you,
I wouldn’t know the pleasure
Of ecstasy’s warm gifts
And memories to treasure.
Now moving on with life,
I force a wistful grin,
Questioning what went wrong
And wondering what might have been.

That is the beauty of a Chinese Woman. :)

She is Chinese-American. An intelligent one at that. She is a Ph.D doctoral student in Immunology/Micropathology.

A deadly-beautiful combination of beauty and brains.

cutting class during college days?....

i've never experienced....what for?.... why can't wait after the class or week-ends maybe...? just take into consideration the effort of your parents... be considerate to their feelings..if possible don't give them heartaches and frustrations...  cutting class may lead to failing grades... worst if it becomes habitual....  ;)

Wisdom!

Bai aquarius, tinuod jyud!

Parents sacrifice their blood, toil, sweat so they can send their children to school and to get an education.

It is an affront to their face, it is a slap to their face when the child that they sent to school was not going to class, which the parents were paying with hard earned money.

My parents reminded me always, "Your success is Our Success..."

And it is true. Besides, it takes a village to raise a Doctor. :)
As the saying goes.

i love to study but not inside a classroom. i want to do it on my own.. mahilig ko og research... ma-bored ko sa uban teachers esp. tong mga old na bitaw

i love to teach, i love to share my knowledge with fellow students, and teachers/instructors/professors. when i was in college, i opted to teach and tutor students who were failing and needing guidance academically. i prefer to spend time in the classroom , or in science labs to teach and operate labs.

knowledge, the very priviledge in sharing my knowledge, as well as the opportunity to learn something new is always exciting for me.

thats good that you're interested in researching, anne. independent research is the best, maka collaborate pood sa uban nga specialista sa field.

:)

Sir Palu Palo,

The Tagbilaran City Councilor, whom I am very good friends with, told me in a conversation about the past elections and about the growth of the province, in regards to Valencia, he said, "Valencia's Arms are felt throughout Bohol, Dong Bran!"

I am reminded of this in that Valencia's Hospital Owners also own and run other municipality's hospitals in the province, let alone our domination of the Limestone in Garcia Hernadez. lol. It is ironic that the Garcia-nons do not run the management of their town's limestone quarry. But then again, are we surprised by Valencianon's domination? It is known of the over-competitiveness of the Valencianon.

A man from Tagbilaran, a city official, described the Valencianon as, 'Dili pa Lupig!'
I see truth in that generalization tho. It is our strength that makes our people strive to better themselves, and our town to grow.

The Vice-Governor of Bohol Province is Valencianon. Dra. Concepcion Lim. The First female Vice Governor, and the First Medical Doctor to sit on the office of Provincial Vice-Governorship. The First Valencianon and I'm sure not the last. :)

Cheers! Thanks for the added information. It does our town alot of pride to hear of the successes of our people.

Padayon Valencia! Atong pinanggang yuta na tawhan!~
